A lot of enemies who have the power Dominate have a non-positional version of it.

I think Rikti Chief Mesmerists have a non-positional version, but it's been a while since I fought them with a positional defense based character, so I don't recall for sure.

It's not double the damage. Shockwave does the same amount of damage as Strike. Exactly the same amount. Eviscerate hits a LOT harder than that. Like 3 times harder.

    Quote:
It also has a massive range boost on it, I'd consider it far more likely for Shockwave to hit 10 targets than I would Evis to hit 5.
If everything is clustered around you, you should be hitting 5 every time you use Eviscerate, almost by accident.

What is your position on untyped damage in Incarnate content?
I'm fine with it, as long as they don't start making everything untyped damage. An untyped attack here and there is okay.

They should maybe add an enhancement like Essence of the Earth that lets you resist the untyped damage.

    Did not know that.

I was referring to the distance traveled, I know nothing can increase the radius of a PBAoE.

    Good to know.

    Ah, right.

I keep forgetting about the "This point completely invalidates my argument, so I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist and keep arguing anyway!" mentality of some people.

Kind of funny actually, the argument was lost as soon as that point was brought up, but it kept raging on just as strong anyway.

    Me either.

I thought for sure that it was going to be a call to add dwarves and elves to the game.

I've participated in a number of races in the game already. Most of them have been player run, with prizes donated by other players.

I don't really think the game needs a bunch of mini-games added to it to increase it's replayability. Since you never actually WIN the game, the replayability of it is kind of a given.

When you talk about a game's replay value, what you are really talking about is "What incentive is there to play the game again after you get to the end?"

Since the game doesn't ever actually end, replay value doesn't really apply to it.
  7. You can already re-bind the Esc key to anything you like.

That's it's default function, sure, but if you want to make it the menu key all you have to do is type something like: /bind esc menu

I'm not sure of the exact command, and it may even let you re-bind it in your keybinding feature in Menu-->Options--->Keybinding.

I just target something else to deselect my current target. Unless there isn't anything else to target, in which case I don't really care what I'm targeting. *shrug*

And deselecting a target by clicking in the game world would be problematic. What if you need to click open a door while keeping something targeted? (in one of the several chase missions) As soon as you click on the door to open it, you just deselected your target at the same time. If it's one of those missions that fail if your target escapes, well the implementation of you idea is going to piss a LOT of people off: "WHAT, you mean I can't click on a door without losing my target!?"

And if you don't think it will be an issue, think about this: How many times have you had to click on a door several times in order to get it to open, because you weren't at the right angle and the game didn't register it? I've had that happen hundereds, if not thousands of times. If my target got deselected every time that happened, it would be incredibly frustrating.

    Wheelchair

I'd use it for one of my characters.

I'm in agreement that it probably would have to be a temp power like Walk is, in that it shuts off your powers and such. If you're cool with it working like that then I see nothing standing in the way of them doing it, other than the time it would take.

But then again, BaBs coded the Walk power in his spare time, so you never know.

May not have quit, but the changes drove most of *us* from those zones (or severely lesseened the time we spent in them,) even though we're still around. NC/PS wouldn't have seen lost subs from that, since we'd still be around for PVE, TFs and the like.

"Hardcore" PVPers arent' the only ones who count.
I took that into account Bill. My percentages are pure wild guesses, I make no bones about it and I make no claims that they are accurate. They probably aren't too far off, but I have no way of knowing for sure.

I mentioned the 5% that I considered "hardcore" PvPers, which are those that PvP is the reason they play the game.

I also mentioned an additional 5% that dabbled in it occasionally. That number may be a little higher than I estimated, but that number is a lot harder to quantify. Do you count if you participated in zone PvP a couple times, or if you fought another player once? Casual PvPers are a lot harder to identify than the hardcore.

I don't think the hardcore PvP population ever got higher than 6-7% at it's peak. Like I said, 5% of 120,000 is 6,000, and even at PvP's peak I didn't see enough people participating in it to accumulate that kind of number. I you average that out it's a little better than 500 PvPers per server, maybe a little skewed toward Freedom and Virtue. I don't know about you, but I never saw enough people PvPing to add up to that number, taking into account non-peak hours as well. I mean, if you see 25 in a zone on Friday at 9 PM, it's a bit of a stretch to assume that there were 475 at different times throughout the rest of the day. And casual PvPers making up the difference seems unlikely.
  10. For a blaster, defense is better than resistance, mostly because of their lower HP.

Tanks, Brutes, and Scrappers can get decent results with resistance, but they also have more HP to work with.

If you have 35% resistance, you're still going to take 65% of the damage. or 650 damage out of every 1000 thrown at you.

If you have 45% defense, you only have a 5% chance of taking any damage at all.

I'm a fan of hover-blasting with a lot of ranged defense and a resistance shield. Covers all the bases. I can force them to attack from a position I have a lot of defense from, and if anything does get through it will hurt somewhat less. I also have Aid Self to help if I get tagged a couple times in a row. My Sonic/Devices blaster rarely dies anymore.
  11. Range enhancements should affect Shield Charge, Lightning Rod, and the upcoming Spring Attack.

I don't think they actually do, but logically they should, since there is a range involved.
  12. I'll occasionally request a specific AT or AT type, mostly based on what the ATs in question can do. But it's rare, usually I'll only do that if I know the task in question is difficult without a certain thing. Most of the time it's: "X forming, need warm bodies that have a couple hours to kill"

Corruptors, Defenders, Controllers, and Masterminds are all acceptable when I say "Buffs/Debuffs would be nice)"

Controllers, Dominators, Tanks, and Brutes will all work for "Crowd control"

I'll take just about anything for damage, since all ATs can deal damage in some form or another.

I've never understood the whole "You must be exactly THIS set of powers, slotted exactly THIS way. If you aren't you're gimped and useless!" mentality that I sometimes see. Really? The game isn't so freaking hard that you must optimize every facet of every powerset on your team.

I went Body Mastery for 2 reasons.

    1) End Management: it's kind of a no-brainer choice for that.

    2) Staying with concept and avoiding redraw: My concept and backstory states that all the character's powers come from the demonic sword he acquired. Without the sword he's just a normal dude. So, the Darkness powers are appropriate, but I despise putting my sword away, firing a power, and then redrawing the sword.

There's also the fact that my build is really tight on slots, and Body Mastery has powers that don't need much slotting to be useful.

The only effect PvPers having multiple accounts has is it artificially inflates the numbers and makes it appear that there are more people doing it than there really are.

Oh, and if you look at what I said 5% of 120,000 is 6,000 people. If you add the other 5% that occasionally engaged in PvP you have about 12,000.

Personally, I think assuming there were ever 12,000 PvPers at any point in this game's history is an incredibly generous number. It was probably much less than that in actuality.

I meant it was about 5% who PvPed every day, with another 5% or so that did it once in a while.
  18. Sure.

Come to think of it, I don't see any reason why it couldn't be done either.

I also want the ability to use more than 1 pattern at a time. Like, the Fire Stripe pattern combined with a Chest Emblam pattern (so you can put yor insignia inside a circle while wearing Fire Stripe tights)

They would stack, obviously, and how they would stack should be deterimined by which order you put them in.

That would give us a huge variety of new options and they wouldn't have to add any new patterns, just let us combine some of the ones we already have.

    This.

I am 90% sure that Incarnate powers are unaffected by AT mods.

That's why so many people have been crying "AT X is useless now because of Incarnate power Y!"

I've heard it about Blasters because of Judgement, and I've heard it about Defenders because of Destiny.

If Judgement were affected by AT mods, Defenders would deal much less damage than Blasters, and Blaster fans wouldn't have gotten so bent out of shape.

It won't get a LOT higher, but it will get it enough higher that it will help.

Alpha Very Rares ignore ED on 2/3rds of the enhancement value, so you'll get nearly 22% enhancement that ED doesn't touch.

    Ma/sr

Lose the Dam/End or Dam from Storm Kick and replace it with the damage proc. It's a 33% chance for 107 damage, so it will get you a lot of extra damage if you put it in a frequently used power.

    I LOVE Soul Transfer.

I usually leave it on auto-fire, just because I don't have any other powers that warrant it. That and I kind of like the "Oh you killed me? Boy, was THAT dumb!" aspect of the power

It makes a good mule for a partial set of Eradication for more End/defense/HP (My BS/DA build really started to get awesome once I cranked up the HP some, I'm just over 1900 on my live build)

I took it at level 49 and stuck a couple slots in it, I believe I have 3 Eradication in there, which is helping me hit the soft-cap for ranged and is contributing to my 119 max endurance (more endurance helps DA builds quite a bit)

Tentacles/Dark Pit will put a de-facto hold on any minions in the spawn, and it will immoblize LTs. If you have Oppressive Gloom from Soul Mastery the LTs (and bosses) will be stunned as soon as you jump into the mob.

The two sets together give you plenty of tools to make effective use of Soul Drain, you just have to take advantage of them.
