  1. Sounds like someone used the XP booster, which also slightly increases drop rates.
  2. If I can find a name I like to go along with it I might pick it up. I'm having enough fun with my Dark/mental blaster and Time/Fire defender that I don't really want to have another ranged character to try and split time between.

The name I wanted on Pinnacle is taken, so it will sit there in the store until I come up with another one that makes me laugh like the first one did. (The name was Ronald Raygun)

    Well, poo.

Oh well, it still beats the hell out of having to run through 3 zones to sell my unwanted salvage and recipes.
  4. Time Manipulation looks, at first glance, like it will be a go to set for AV/GM fights. They'll resist the slows a great deal, but it has 2 powers with a significant amount of -regen in them, the first of which I believe is stackable.

I'm enjoying my Time/FIre Defender so far.

You probably aren't going to get much of an answer just yet. I'd say wait a few weeks and ask again if no one posts a strategy before then. It's still pretty new, so people haven't got the encounter ironed out yet.
  7. Doesn't really bother me, to be honest.

I can see how it would be aggravating for color-blind people though, perhaps they should add an option to set the color as you see fit. I'm guessing that with their stated interest in opening up the forums to free and premium players on a limited basis, the colors are going to serve to differentiate between them and the VIPs.

I suspect that free and premium players will probably be limited to Player Questions and maybe the Archetypes forums, since those are the places most commonly used for asking for help from other players. It would kind of suck to make it so free players can't even ask people for help with something.

If that turns out to be the case, those of us who help people with builds a lot need to refresh ourselves on SO slotted builds. All of our build wizardry will be lost on people who can't use IOs.
  8. If I end up with any disposable income in the near future, I plan on purchasing some of the attuned set enhancements.

When Street Justice comes out I plan on rolling a SJ/Invuln brute. I will be purchasing some of the attuned Reactive Armor to slot in his resistance powers. I'm kind of looking forward to enhancements that will level with me. So, I don't have any personal experience with them yet, but my initial impression is that they sound cool. There's not much in the store that I need or want, so most of my excess points will probably end up spent on stuff like that.

Oh, and the /auctionhouse command is AWESOME. I put a token in that slot immediately, and it is just too convenient to be able to sell off salvage while I'm inside a mission.

I didn't have much trouble with it.

It IS a little slow, but I was attributing that to my computer (have I mentioned it sucks?)
  10. Wow, so Freedom is a financial success for Paragon/NCSoft then?

I haven't spent squat yet, and I'm very unlikely to start dropping hundreds of dollars n points. They're still getting my $15 a month, but I don't have enough disposable income to spend like you guys are (I can barely afford my subscription some months)

Maybe aroud tax time I'll shell out some cash for stuff, but for now I'll just enjoy the free stuff and whatever I can get with the points I have already.
  11. ClawsandEffect

    Points!

One of the tier 8 or 9 rewards is an additional 150 points per month, that could account for the 1750 and 2375s.

By my math I should have 800-1200 points, but I have 1600. I have a feeling they might have granted us some extra points to make up for things taking so long to get rolling on Tuesday. If that's the case, it was a nice thing to do. We lost a day of play time, but got a months worth of points? Sounds like a good deal to me.
  12. I deliberately did not participate in beta testing this time around, so I could have a fresh perspective on the new stuff (well, as fresh as a 6 year vet can have at least).

So far, I like what I've seen.

Time Manipulation seems to be a good set, fairly well balanced and fun to play. It seems to me that it may be the new go to set for AV and GM fights, what with stackable -regen in a couple different powers.

I like the new tutorial, I just wish it were a little longer. With the destruction of Galaxy City, I really hope we'll be going back there sometime soon. Please, please, please don't do a Boomtown/Dark Astoria with it.

So far I've only done part of the new hero side content in Atlas Park. It is MUCH improved over the old contacts, and actually has a cohesive story to it. I kind of like some of the new mission ideas being used as well. Controlling the reporter with the camcorder reticle was a neat touch. I am, however, a little concerned that the transition from the new AP content to the old Kings Row/Steel Canyon/Skyway City content will be a little jarring, just because it is so different. A good move, in my opinion, would be to update those 3 zones next (and Port Oakes/Cap on redside as well).

I like the Atlas makeover. It looks and feels like it should be called Atlas "Park" now. Everything is pretty much in the same place it was before, it just looks better now, even on minimum graphics settings (my computer sucks).

Not too sure about the Paragon Market yet. So far it seems reasonably easy to use, and I like the fact that I can get single costume pieces instead of having to shell out for a full set I'll never use (the only thing from the Animal pack I'm even a little interested in is the Minotaur head). There is some other interesting looking stuff in there, but I'm trying to save points for Street Justice, so I won't be spending a whole lot just yet.

Haven't tried Beam Rifle yet, not sure if I'm going to. But, from seeing other people using it, it seems like a neat set.

I have created, so far, a Time/Fire defender, an Illusion/Time controller (I think I may have rolled a future GM soloer in that one), a Dark/Mental blaster, and a Spines/Energy scrapper (not sold on the scrapper yet).

Overall, I'm impressed with what I've seen of Freedom thus far. It's got some flaws (most notably the low level content being very linear), but for the most part they did a good job on it. It gets a thumbs up from me. We'll have to see what the free and returning players think of it (though the returning players probably won't see the new lowbie content right away)

I'll be running the First Ward stuff in the near future, and I'll share my impressions on that as well. I also need to run the new lowbie sewer trial, didn't want to dive into it while I was getting ready for work.

Anyone else have thoughts on it, good or bad?

There's no such thing as Toxic defense.

That said, I was considering Spines or Claws.

Or you could go War Mace, since scrappers can be strong and pretty now too.
  15. I'm staying on Pinnacle.

I'll make an alt or two on Exalted, but someone snagged my main's name within an hour of the servers coming up. I won't move permanently to a server where I can't have my name. It's my main character and my global name (and my forum handle). I have the name on Pinnacle, so that's where I'm staying.

I do have a couple semi-retired characters that might make the transfer to free up space on Pinn for more alts. Probably at least one 50 so I can run trials on the new shiny.
  16. I don't know what I'll be getting first. If Street Justice were available now it'd be that. SInce it's not, I'll probably buy a few costume pieces I can think of a use for and hang on to the rest of the points.

I'll check it out, and probably laugh, later. I'm heading home from work so I can actually play.

On a side note, the devs may have finally figured out a way to kill AE farming/PLing. Too bad it has to be so far reaching in scope.

I actually have to agree with James Donner on one aspect of this (which is rare in itself), this MAY have the net effect of discouraging large quickly-moving team play, which seems to be the opposite of what they are trying to encourage.

If I were the devs, I would definitely look very hard at this issue. An ITF run by a good team will be triggering this on a regular basis methinks.

I doubt this will affect me at all. I don't PL characters and I don't farm, so the odds of me ever triggering it are slim.

I do look forward to the threads that are guaranteed to pop up about how unfair it is that the devs are not allowing people to exploit their game. They will be hilarious and chock full of entitlement whines, those threads always give me a chuckle.

Well, if it was a bug it'd be difficult to report as such.
  20. Honestly, I'm not too pressed about a costume set, no matter how cool it is.

I'd have to drop over $100 to get it today, and nothing in a video game will EVER be worth $100 to me. If I'm still here in 2 years, maybe I'll get the costume set then.

It won't be the first time that I wasn't one of the first people to get something, and I'm sure it won't be the last.

    8 weeks is my guess.

That way the VIPs will have the opportunity to get it without spending extra money. VIPs, as of today, will have at least 800 PP to spend. If they choose to spend that on Beam Rifle they'll need a couple months to get enough free points for Street Justice.

If the devs are really as focused on catering to the VIPs as they've said they are, they'll wait until the VIPs can get the set for free before they release it.

That doesn't mean everyone will get it for free. If you choose to spend your points on other stuff before then you won't have them when it's released, and that isn't the devs fault.

Personally, I'm probably going to get a few costume pieces and sit on the rest of my points, as I'm not particularly interested in Beam Rifle.

It's not getting picked apart and shut down because we're fans.

It's getting picked apart and shut down because you are making factual statements with no evidence to back it up. Do you have access to the exact number of subscribers compared to the peak number? If you don't, you have no ability to state, as a fact, that the game has lost half it's population.

I could just as easily say the country of Luxembourg lost half it's population because I talked to a few people that didn't like living there. But, since I don't know what the population was before or after they left I can't state it as a fact the way you have been doing.

If you can PROVE what you keep asserting, with hard numbers, maybe your opinion will carry a little more weight. But at this point you're basically just saying "I don't like something about the game, so clearly half the players have quit."

It'd most likely be a case of take the powers as a set, or not at all. Dark Obliteration probably would be better for scrappers. Hell, anything that isn't a cone would be better for any melee AT.

The most we'd be likely to get would be a choice of which Soul Mastery we take. So, I suppose it would depend on how willing you are to give up Shadow Meld for an AoE.

Night Fall wouldn't be any better on brutes either. It's a cone, so the same problem scrappers have would apply.
  24. From what I understand about Beam Rifle's mechanics, it will be beastly on a corruptor once Scourge starts kicking in on a single hard target (AV or GM)
  25. Yeah, Green Ink Men suck.

Enough of them can stack stuns through even a Stone tank's Granite and Rooted. Every single attack they throw at you has a chance to stun, so they can stack like, mag 30 or 40 in a matter of seconds. Fighting more than about 5 will suck in a big way for melee characters.
