Sure, why not. More options is a good thing.
I would be annoyed if I had to wait a half hour for a clue to drop that I needed to complete a mission that I had otherwise finished in 10 minutes though, so you might want to be careful exactly how it was implemented. -

OMG!!!!!!!!!!
We ALREADY HAVE ORIGIN SPECIFIC POWERSETS!
Natural Origin ONLY include: Peacebringers, Arachnos Soldiers and Arachnos Widows.
Science Origin Only includes Warshades.
How is, the idea I am suggesting ANY different than these? It isn't! Did all of you whiners complain when these four Archetypes were created? If you did then im sorry, go cry about it, they are here. Just because you dislike something, doesn't mean it should not be in the game. I only made this post because people were griping about my other magic post. You have the chance to post a better idea. And when you do, I hope a pack of rabid dogs like yourselves tear it to shreds.
Go ahead and sit back in your little comfort zone because this game WILL change, or it WILL die.
[/ QUOTE ]
See, I gave your idea due consideration....until I read this.
Being a jerk to people when pitching an idea is never a good thing. Saying that anyone who is against your idea is a whiner and that they should go cry about it is just bad form and elicits the following response:
Blow it out your [censored] and complain to someone who cares.
Did it occur to you that maybe, just maybe people aren't bashing your idea just to bash an idea. Perhaps they are bashing it because it is either a bad idea (Not that YOU can come up with a bad idea, heaven forbid!) or at the very least an unpopular one?
"OMG, they disagreed with me, they must be idiots and can't see what a good thing it would be for the developers to spend time adding something to the game that only *I* seem to want!"
That's what I got out of the post I quoted.
It's called tact dude.
And your comment about the game changing or dying? How is adding an origin specific powerset adding anything life extending to the game? Origin is irrelevant for a reason. People don't like being told that their character they envisioned has to be a certain thing, whether they like it or not.
I have a cyborg character that is magic origin. Yes, it makes sense if you read his backstory.
Making a powerset only available to characters of a specific origin is too limiting. The Khelds and Arachnos are specific origin because they are part of the game's lore. There is a specific backstory that relates to characters of that type. If you are a Kheldian you got your powers by fusing with an extraterrestrial being. If you ar an Arachnos Soldier you got your powers through extensive (probably brutal) training.
Sorry, but I don't want it dictated to me that my magic origin character is a wizard or magician. I have a few magic origin characters and only ONE even comes close to that description. And then saying that only a wizard or magician can have a certain set of powers? No thanks.
EDIT: In the future, if someone criticizes your idea, take another look at the idea instead of just ASSUMING that they are just out to shoot you down. If I had posted this idea and gotten the responses to it you have I would have concluded that my idea was either not very good, or unpopular, and left it at that. What you did instead is fly off the handle and accuse people of griefing your idea. Don't take criticism so damn seriously. If people don't like it, maybe there's a good reason they don't.
I edited to explain my position a little better because I kinda come off as a jerk in the rest of my post, which wasn't my intention. -
Slipknot - Pulse of the Maggots
"I fight for those who CAN'T fight, and if I lose, AT LEAST I TRIED!!"
That one is for my BS/DA and my DB/WP. They are both based on myself.
Disturbed - Indestructible
Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side, a terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible

I'm an indestructible master of war
That one is my Claws/Regen namesake, it's been his theme song since the first time I heard it.
Metallica - Battery
The entire song applies. The perfect scrapper anthem.
This one is for ALL my scrappers. -
Wait...what?
Those other seven people stealing my kills are on my TEAM?!?
I thought they were just there to distract my enemies so I could kill them easier. -

Last thing Scrappers need is another Darn Smash'lethal set.
But Psychic Melee/blade? Or something with the debuff potential of /Rad? now they would be very nice.
And as a bonus it wouldn't requires a lot of new animation.
my fingers are crossed for going rogue,
[/ QUOTE ]
I dunno, when I think "scrapper" I think "someone who beats the snot out of things"
So, smashing/lethal sets are pretty appropriate for that.
We have: Smashing (Martial Arts, Dark Melee)
Lethal (Claws, Katana, Dual Blades, Broadsword, Spines)
Fire (duh, Fire)
Negative (Dark Melee)
The only things we are missing are Psi, Cold, and Energy. With the probable eventual proliferation of Energy Melee, Electric Melee, and possibly Ice that would cover everything but Psi damage.
That said, I wouldn't mind seeing a Psi melee set, but I won't be too bent out of shape if we don't get it. Also, we only really have one smashing set since Dark Melee is mostly Negative, so a smashing damage weapon set wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. -
A free DA scrapper.
I kid, if you want one you can't have mine.
After reading this I both agree and disagree with the sentiments expressed.
Regen does not need regen debuff resistance, and regen does not need recharge debuff resistance.
It needs BOTH.
The way my claws/regen is built, I don't have to hit my heals very often in normal missions (solo, on Tenacious) my other mitigation and natural regen usually see me through just fine. Once I start getting hit with -regen or -recharge I'm in trouble. If I get hit with both I'm a dead man. You'd be surprised how many enemy groups have both debuffs available to them. -
The Bo/Escrima Sticks/Nunchuku I wouldn't mind.
They have been suggested to death though, so you will probably catch some flak for suggesting them again.
The Power Sword idea is already possible through IOs. Smashing, Lethal, and Negative are all possible to add to their attacks via IO procs. Which is probably the closest you're going to get to that idea. Also, Fire can be added to the PBAoE attacks after you hit level 50 and can slot purples. -

Hmm, my favorite scrapper? Uhm... Hmm, let me think... Wolverine. Baring that, Madam Enigma.
OOOOOH you mean powerset! Erm, anything-except-martial arts/anything
[/ QUOTE ]
So, based on your Wolverine comment your favorite is claws/regen?
Okay, my answer: My favorite scrapper is whichever one I'm playing at the time.
I have:
Claws/Regen
BS/DA
DB/WP
Spines/Fire
DM/DA
MA/Shield
Katana/SR
I think I'll be rollng a Fire/Invuln next, seeing as they are the only powersets I don't have at least one of yet. -
I also vote for Shield. I hated MA until I started up a MA/Shield, and this one I actually will probably level.
The combo I'm looking forward to is Energy Torrent + Shield Charge + Dragon's Tail. That will end up with a whole spawn spending so much time on it's back that it might not even get a shot off before it's defeated. Timing is important though, if you chain it too soon the standing up animation will override the knockdown, and if you chain it too late they will fire off an alpha before the next attack hits.
Kind of endurance heavy in the lower levels though. -
Tenebrous Tentacles and Oppressive Gloom stack beautifully. I had both of them on my BS/DA for a while and it worked great. Hit em with TT from range and hop into the crowd running OGloom, and suddenly you have all minions hit with a de-facto hold.
I understand your decision to drop Cloak of Fear. I did the same thing as soon as I realized how hard it was hitting my end bar for very little return. I would pick it up again if they did one of three things:
1) lower the endurance cost significantly, down to the base cost of Dark Embrace would be fine (.26/sec I believe)
2) Increase the magnitude of the fear to mag 3
3) Increase the accuracy to at least the normal 75%
All 3 of those things combined are why I dropped the power. If they changed 1 I would consider it, change 2 and I would be sorely tempted, if they change all 3 I would pick it up again in a heartbeat.
On the plus side, it does look pretty cool at least. -
Dammit, now I want to roll a Something/Ice
-
I have issues with 2 of your statements here.
Saying Devices and Ice are problematic when solo is outright wrong. Devices and Ice are probably the strongest sets for a soloing blaster.
Devices is actually BETTER solo than teaming, because most teams won't have the patience for a /Devices blaster to set up all their toys. My Sonic/Devices, between the AoE sleep in Sonic and all the toys Devices has, routinely goes entire missions without taking damage, let alone dying. Other blasters outshine him on teams though because their secondary isn't as reliant on strategy and proper placement.
I don't know Ice that well, but from all reports it solos extremely well and doesn't do bad on teams either.
I have no problems with most of the other stuff you've said here. -
Hawk's SG and mine are coalitioned together. If you join either one, or any of our other coalitioned groups you will get a good group of people to run with.
Also, join PinnBadges as soon as you can. It's the most populated global channel on Pinnacle (that I'm aware of) and you should be able to find teams and meet people pretty easily on it.
I can be reached via @Claws and Effect. My SG is small, but has good people in it. We're always looking for new blood. -
[ QUOTE ]
I don't know if this would apply here, but I remember when someone told me that Immo, stuns, and holds stack with each other. I.E. an Immo and Hold would make a mag 6 hold
[/ QUOTE ]
This one actually (in my experience at least) has a sliver of truth to it. I played a controller before Overpower was introduced and when I hit a boss with Mezmerize and Dominate back to back they would be affected by whichever I used second (the sleep seemed more reliable this way)
I don't, however, know if that was supposed to happen, or if there was a bug that was causing any mez to stack with any other mez. -

The only way to avoid redraw is to make entirely separate animations for each power that includes the drawn guns.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is what I'd want.
There aren't all that many, since for the most part, it's not going to be a concern for Blasters. As far as I can see, you'd need to do pistols (presumably not a big deal, I think you could pretty much graft those right in there) AR (possibly a big deal) and Archery (yes that might suck, but I have faith)
[/ QUOTE ]
Not going to happen. I PMed BaBs a while back about removing the redraw from Kick because I didn't think it made sense to put your sword away to boot someone in the gut.
This is what he replied with:
[ QUOTE ]
Short answer, because 'Kick' is a combat mode power and the various weapons use different modes. This isn't a matter of not having an animation that works, but a matter of how our powers/combat system works in regards to different combat modes and weapons.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, what I get out of all this is it would require 3 entirely new combat modes and 162 animations to not have redraw in that set.
162 = 9 animations x 3 weapon sets x 3 body types x 2 travel modes (flying and not flying)
The combat modes ALONE will take several months to get finished, and the animations will take even longer. I seriously doubt they are going to put THAT much work into a set just to avoid redraw, which every other weapon set has to deal with.
So, in conclusion, if a set like this were designed and implemented you can bet there will be redraw, it is much harder to remove it than it seems on the surface. -

The best boss killer is a stalker.
You could put powersets(except elec armor) on a dartboard and pick them that way and come up with something that will do the job well. That's pretty much what the entire AT was designed to do.
[/ QUOTE ]Fixed for accuracy.
[/ QUOTE ]
While technically true, it is irrelevant because he wasn't asking about stalkers. I happen to agree that my stalker is better at killing bosses than my scrapper is. But since he was asking specifically about scrappers I didn't mention it.
All I was trying to say is it doesn't really matter what powersets he chooses, any scrapper will do the job just about equally well. -
I would drop the Epic pool altogether for this build, unless it is part of your concept.
I'd slot the Gaussian's set into Build Up. The proc will fire off less often, but at least you'll be USING it instead of it firing off while standing at WW. Besides, since you have it 6 slotted, you don't have it for the proc anyway do you?
I'd throw a Steadfast Res/End into Tough as well as a Res/End from another set.
Also, Fox...he's not slotting those Zephyrs for KB protection, he's slotting them for the 3-slot AoE defense bonus. Can't say I'd do it any different there.
Other than the minor stuff I mentioned it looks pretty damn solid to me. -
Crushing Impact, Scirocco's Dervish, Doctored Wounds, Titanium Coating, Red Fortune. All solid sets, and usually affordable.
You can usually get a Steadfast Res/Def with AE tickets if you're patient and make lots of Bronze random rolls. I roll in 25-29 for them. -
I'd never call you stupid the way you built this scrapper, just uninformed. Your power choices are fine, just the WHEN needs work.
Honestly I would consider dropping Stamina and 4 slotting QR with Performance Shifter, including the proc.
If you're planning on just sticking with SO's then you will want Stamina. But if you start IOing with recovery set bonuses and maybe the uniques you'll find that it eventually becomes a wasted power slot.
On to your build:
Slash needs to be slotted for DAMAGE. It is one of your harder hitting single target attacks, and the defense debuff will be completely irrelevant with all the accuracy bonuses you have. I like Crushing Impactx5 and the Achille's Heel -Res proc. Or alternately, if you have the money for all the IOs in this build, consider slotting Hecatomb in there.
Follow Up should be taken much sooner and slotted as an attack. The to-hit buff is nice, but you will be double stacking it consistently with as much recharge as you have in your build. I like (again) Crushing Impact x5 and Gaussian's Chance for Build Up.
I would put 5X Scirocco's Dervish in Spin. The overall enhancement of the power will be about the same, and Scirocco's has better set bonuses for a WP scrapper.
Slot Rise to the Challenge for HEALING. The to-hit debuff isn't that great, even slotted. The true usefulness of the power is the fact that, when slotted for healing, it will turbo-charge your regen rate when in melee range of anything.
I also would seriously reconsider the ordering of my powers if I were you. That build would be okay at level 50, but if you exemp for a Sister Psyche TF, you will lose your mez protection.
My suggestion: Any character I have that has access to QR doesn't even start the Fitness pool until the 20's. I take Stamina no SOONER than level 30, which is usually a free power pick for me.
Other than that it looks fairly solid, the only other stuff I would change would be personal preference slotting rather than performance slotting. I'll post my take on this build when I get home from work, there's nothing wrong with the powers you chose, just the order in which you took them could use some work. -
SR gets a metric butt-ton of defense debuff resistance. It's only fair that regen (and to a lesser degree, Willpower) get regen debuff resistance.
I like the idea of spreading it out between Fast Healing, Integration, and Resilience. That way the Fast Healing one would carry over to Willpower, which should be enough because WP has defense and resistance as well. While Regen gets the bulk of it in the other two powers. I'd say a flat 10-15% resistance in Fast Healing and Integration, and enhanceable resistance in Resilience. To make it worthwhile I would double or even triple the amount of regen resistance in relation to damage resistance in Resilience.
So, if you have Resilience slotted to 7% damage resistance that would translate to 21% regen debuff resistance.
Would that be acceptable to you guys? -
The best boss killer is a scrapper.
You could put powersets on a dartboard and pick them that way and come up with something that will do the job well. That's pretty much what the entire AT was designed to do. -
If the scrapper is the more actively played member of the duo, which only makes sense, you will probably want Stamina if you're going to be running all those toggles AND fighting. At least until you get to the point of getting IO set bonuses for recovery.
I suggest you pick up Weave as well. Your Fire/Cold/Energy/Negative is defense rather than resistance, which Weave will stack on top of. The Steadfast Res/Def is a good investment too.
Sounds like a combo with pretty good synergy there. Good luck with it. -
I like alternate idea #1
Adamastor for Magic origin, Jurassik for Science origin, Babbage for Tech origin, Kraken for Mutant origin, and Lusca for Natural origin.
I suggest those 5 because they don't require any kind of trigger to spawn. And it should be flagged that only defeating Babbage in Boomtown counts toward the badge.
Villainside would be Ghost of Scrapyard (mutant), Deathsurge (tech), Caleb (magic), Arachnos Flyer (natural), and ???
Is there a 5th on villainside to use for Science origin? Those are the only ones I can remember off the top of my head.
That would be a cool addition, blueside I foresee a spike of activity in Boomtown once people realize their Clockstopper badge doesn't count because they killed Babbage in Skyway. -
Changing TFs back to recipe drops will defeat the entire purpose of merits existing in the first place. It's not a perfect system, but I like it. It caused people to actually run some of the formerly less popular TFs. Before merits no one, and I mean NO ONE, wanted to do anything except Katie Hannon because it was the best reward for time spent. Now if I want to run, say, Dr. Q, I might be able to spark some interest in it rather than get laughed at for even suggesting it.
Flagged PvP is not as good of an idea as you think it is. The players like you mentioned that don't play the game because flagged PvP is not a feature are in an extreme minority. Trust me on this. The vast majority of the current playerbase PvPs seldomly, if ever. Flagged PvP would drive away ten times as many players as it would draw to the game.
And my last point: If your suggestion somehow comes to fruition and forces me to leave Pinnacle I will hunt you down and beat you with a sea bass. Forcing anyone to change the server they play on is never a good thing. People like myselfr who play almost exclusiely on one server will be very angry if all the work they have done on their SG disappears. And if a character's name is taken on the new server, what then? I become Claws and Effect1? No thanks.
I'm not even touching the AE suggestions, because, frankly, I'm sick of talking about it.
