To nerf ae or not to nerf ae
Also this is not a petition, dont make it one please just some suggestions.
forced server transfers(which is what your first idea is) is not a good idea. many people would leave the game because of it.and no to the merits and tickets being the same.
the removal of drops at the end of a tf/sf have not killed them. and fyi, you cant drop purples from a tf/sf unless it is a lv 50 tf/sf. and you can also get purples from running regular missions. not to mention that they are suppossed to be ultras rare.
no to the flagged PvP. although it would be interesting, more people would leave over this. how would you feel about being killed time and time again trying to get into your mission because someone is camping at your mission door?
Im allready regretting the post... but anyways with flagged pvp your supposed to be able to turn the flag on and off so you dont get camped. At least that what i thought it to be. As for forcing the server transfer i feel the drop out will be less than the my way or the highway approach. Which is to stay the devs will make a change and it you dont like it leave. Ive had many express thier opinion of thats what they will do if the changes to ae are too drastic. As for the ultra rare purples ive had 2 drop to me since they came out from just doing missions. That so rare they are useless to me. Maybe its my bad luck, i dont know, but that seems a little to rare to me.
1) The point is that your changes don't address purples. It's apples and oranges. Purples were never TF drops, so a change from Merits to drops for TF/SFs doesn't have anything to do with it, making your reasoning flawed there. As for the "people don't do them anymore", also flawed. People do lots of TFs. In fact, I probably see more Cap SFs being run for Merits than any other SF except the ITF, so don't try to tell me people never run SFs anymore.
2) The "my way or the highway" line. They're the Devs. Every game's Devs have the right to set the rules. It's their game. Besides, there are warning all over the place not to farm/abuse the AE (in the announcement, in the in-game tutorial, in the in-game FAQ from the MA contact, in interviews, on these forums... freaking everywhere). They said over and over that while they've taken a hands-off approach to much of the PL/farming in the regular game that this wouldn't be okay in the MA. People chose to ignore it, and then choose to act all suprised when there's consequences. If people want to get huffy, take their ball and go home because they broke the rules and there were penalties, well, do we really need those people? Probably not.
3) Big no to forced server transfers - and if you really think that the Devs enforcing their own rules on the AE is going to drive more people away than that would, you really don't know the game or the community very well. Server transfers like the kind you describe would drive people away by the thousands. Probably the tens of thousands.

Changing TFs back to recipe drops will defeat the entire purpose of merits existing in the first place. It's not a perfect system, but I like it. It caused people to actually run some of the formerly less popular TFs. Before merits no one, and I mean NO ONE, wanted to do anything except Katie Hannon because it was the best reward for time spent. Now if I want to run, say, Dr. Q, I might be able to spark some interest in it rather than get laughed at for even suggesting it.
Flagged PvP is not as good of an idea as you think it is. The players like you mentioned that don't play the game because flagged PvP is not a feature are in an extreme minority. Trust me on this. The vast majority of the current playerbase PvPs seldomly, if ever. Flagged PvP would drive away ten times as many players as it would draw to the game.
And my last point: If your suggestion somehow comes to fruition and forces me to leave Pinnacle I will hunt you down and beat you with a sea bass. Forcing anyone to change the server they play on is never a good thing. People like myselfr who play almost exclusiely on one server will be very angry if all the work they have done on their SG disappears. And if a character's name is taken on the new server, what then? I become Claws and Effect1? No thanks.
I'm not even touching the AE suggestions, because, frankly, I'm sick of talking about it.

Im proposing that perhaps there is a way to keep everyone happy and that is to split the servers, have half keep ae the way it is, the others disable the xp for ae mishs. Hand out some free character transfer tokens to all accounts(i know that will be hard for you devs) and keep everyone happy.

Except for those who have friends and SGs on the servers you designate one way or the other.
Except for those who are now not getting plays because a bunch of the playerbase is stuck on "No XP for AE" servers.
Except for those who would have preferred new content over messing up the servers by setting them in this hairbrained way.
Wait... sounds like there'd be quite a few unhappy people.

Maybe it will even out the servers so feedom and virtue dont have the majority of the player base, handy for those double xp weekends so everyone can get on.

Nothing stops you from making a character on another server with your friends. Very easy process to make a "backup" set of characters.

I fear too much change to ae will shrink the player base which has seemed to get larger as of late due to ae.

I fear your changes would do more damage.

On another note in the intrest of sf/tf's please drop the merit rewards and give back the drops for completion. The change to merits has killed them, i used to run a cap sf daily, since the change they are almost never done. How do you expect us to ever get any purples?
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you know the POINT of merits? Apparently not. And if you're having trouble witha cap SF - make your own.

Lastly im praying that with rouge we will see the change from zone pvp to flagged pvp. I have friends who dont play this game because of that alone and i feel that change will greatly boost the player population.

You haven't paid much attention, have you. People in this game *generally don't like PVP.* They can igore it when it's as it is now - put into separate zones. Hell, *I* like it, and *I* would hate to have it flagged - I'm MUCH happier with it stuck in its own set of zones. Having some idiot follow them around going "/duel me noob. /duel. /duel me. /duel or you're a <censored.> /duel. /duel!" will definitely alter the population - to the negative.
Your changes, thrown together, would give COH a slightly lower population than Auto Assault currently has.
I'm not very fond of your suggestions as such, but I think you've stated your case in a non-confrontational way and I appreciate that. I do understand your point about the proliferation of separate reward systems -- if I were a newcomer to the game, one of my biggest questions would be: why drops, merits, tickets, "colors" of reward rolls, "Pools" of "drops," and so on.

That's the friggin' point!! They are [u]ULTRA[u]-Rare. Gosh... as far as I'm concerned your drop rate is a bit high.

The Devs never take anything away completely. Flagged PVP forget about it. Forced server transfer? That was a joke right? They would have to drop transfer tokens. (The devs have to fund increased salaries somehow right? So you have all of the easy access payable stuff up front. Character transfers, name change, pushing the new Packs, magic/cyborg/mac etc. That will never happen) drops like that (Transfer Tokens) won't happen and some people can barely fund their game as is.
If you want purple run Ouroboros missions or AV's I have recived several Purples over the past couple days We (my SG and I) have run several AV arcs and I have had a few drops there and almost everytime I run a Ouro Arc I get purple drops. Your chances are better for getting Purples in a short Arc than they ever were by running a single TF. Get out and play some mishs. My words to anyone on AE... Everyone plays it for different reasons. Not everyone who plays this game is into the "Different Content thing" some are happy with running the same mishs over and over. Some like change of venue. Whatever your thing is DO THAT!
To Nerf AE I feel is harsh. But again the Devs do what they want. I want whole heartedly to support the devs, and I used to have a HARD CORE back the Devs at all cost attitude. But this time I feel hurt. The lack of Forsight and the (excuse the Phrase, it's really big down south where I am from) "Indian Giving" is kind of a slap in the Face. I am sure Posi is upset. But now I am daily trying to talk people into not leaving the game and I am about talked out. (Sorry off tangent slighty) My vote is do not Nerf it more than it has been already.
One last Item. The Merit System. I kinda like the Merit system and with AE it is kind of a crucial link in enhancing toons. Plus... ... It helps in getting some of the "Hard to Aquire" items that everyone wants or maybe doesnt want to pay 100,000,000 Inf or 150,000,000 infamy for a level 30 item. I feel though as well as do some others that the merits required are still a little high. (Unless you are one of the ones that like to "FARM" Dr. Q TF and I am one of the ones that really doesnt care for that so) It takes me forever to get enough merits to purchase anything.
But everything you want is still there and more you just have to change your habits to get them. Get out of your comfort zone and play something different. ( I think that is what they are going for anyhow)
And Don't feel bad about your post. You put up a post asking questions. Some answers will be ok while others will strike a nerve with people and you may get some passion back. It gives people a chance to vent . SO cool
Ty all for your replies and discussiion on what i proposed. I have seen some good reasons why what i proposed wont be liked, thats the point of the post. Most of what i put up was from discussions ive had in broadcast lately and they seems popular to those ive spoken to. But debate is a great thing i feel as one can never see every point of view unless you put yours out there. Anyways thanks again for your feedback, ill be using it in furthter debates i have about the posted subjects. And please, no sea bass beatings, think of the poor fishs.
Forgive me but i dont know where else to post this and im sure its been covered on other posts.
Ive seen alot of arguments in broadcast about ae of late, some hate the pl farms, some love it. Both sides are right, its nice to get a toon to 50 that wasnt popular for teams, especially if its to be a pvp toon (stalkers). At the same time it has taken away from the sf/tfs greatly, heck teams in general, upsetting many vets . Im proposing that perhaps there is a way to keep everyone happy and that is to split the servers, have half keep ae the way it is, the others disable the xp for ae mishs. Hand out some free character transfer tokens to all accounts(i know that will be hard for you devs) and keep everyone happy. Maybe it will even out the servers so feedom and virtue dont have the majority of the player base, handy for those double xp weekends so everyone can get on. I fear too much change to ae will shrink the player base which has seemed to get larger as of late due to ae. Also can we merge the merits and tickets? To have to seperate mechanics for rewards just seems absurd to me.
On another note in the intrest of sf/tf's please drop the merit rewards and give back the drops for completion. The change to merits has killed them, i used to run a cap sf daily, since the change they are almost never done. How do you expect us to ever get any purples?

Just my thoughts is all on how to improve the game for us players. Dont use this post as flame war please, i read plenty of that in broadcast as of late.
Yes i know my spelling and grammer is bad, im tired.
