That kind of fowl language? -
Okay, I'll explain what I meant.
If you have Broadsword, Katana, Dual Blades, Spines, Claws, Assault Rifle, Archery, Battle Axe, or War Mace any click powers you use that are not part of that powerset will cause redraw.
If you are a Broadsword/Regen scrapper and use the following powers: Hack, Parry, Disembowel, Head Splitter, Reconstruction, Parry, Whirling Sword you will put your sword away for Reconstruction and redraw it for Parry.
ANY weapon set will have redraw any time you use a power that is not part of that weapon set.
Make sense now? The OP was specifically asking about Broadsword and Katana, so those were the only sets I was responding in reference to. -

After reading this thread up to Phillygirl's response, I felt there was something that needed to be said...
If you feel a mission is exploitive, report it. If a GM feels the arc is exploitive they'll pull it. IF it isn't they won't. Pretty simple.
We as players cannot ban arcs. Only the GM's/devs can do that.
[/ QUOTE ] Problem is, I strongly suspect that not very much evaluation occurs. It seems that if a mish crosses a complaint threshold, it is auto-banned. Combined with the fact that some players think that everything beyond ERP is exploitative, and this is a fairly problematic solution. I have an idea, how about if you think a mission is exploitative, you don't play it!
Why is the first instinct of so many on this forum to go running to mommy?
[/ QUOTE ]
Seems to me like someone has a mad-on against the devs. If a mish crosses a complaint threshold, it's generally a safe bet that it IS exploitive.
I'm guessing you've had an arc pulled due to complaints or being exploitive yourself and you're telling people to not complain about it so you can keep your exploits.
Pretty transparent really. -
If you go with a stalker your better bet would be EM/Nin. The self heal is just as good as WP's and it's a looser build (more powers you can skip to get PvP specific powers like Phase Shift)
They all have their upsides and downsides. A good player can play a bad build and still do well. On the flip side a bad player can play the best build in the world and get owned.
Try them all out and see which one's playstyle you like the best. No sense in PvPing with a character you don't enjoy playing.
EDIT: I'm not giving you specific advice because I'm not that good of a PvPer and I don't feel qualified to tell you what to roll. -

And btw purple prices are going crazy,The drop rate needs to be adjusted.
[/ QUOTE ]
You do realize that causing purples to drop more would cause EVERY other item to increase in price.... right?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm going to make a guess here. Tell me if I got it more or less right.
If purples start dropping more their price is unlikely to change right away. This means that people just playing the game and not farming or marketeering will be getting more money than they had before from selling them.
Since most of the people who just play the game and don't market or farm are impatient*, that will slowly drive the price of anything they buy up because they now have the money to throw 100 million at a LotG. Other people see what they are paying for things and adjust their asking price accordingly, not realizing the prices jumped because of a sudden glut of influence into the market. This will trickle down and everything will see a slight to moderate price increase.
Am I close? Putting it in the simplest of terms of course.
*A generalization. On the premise that the more patience a player has the more inclined they will be to farm or play the market. Leading to a not illogical conclusion that the people who don't generally have less patience. -
Anything not in the BS or Katana sets will cause redraw.
LBE, Energy Torrent, Kick, Regen heals, Practiced Brawler, anything. -
I'll be the first to tell you Dark does not suck. Oppressive Gloom is one of the better damage mitigation powers scrappers get that is not resistance or defense. The heal is the most powerful heal in the game by a wide margin. Death Shroud adds a LOT to your damage output over time. Dark is also one of 2 sets available to scrappers that resists Psi damage and fears. Before Willpower came out it was the ONLY set that had either.
If you're looking at just the resistance and defense numbers of the set you're looking at it the wrong way. Dark's other damage mitigators are what really make it shine.
You can get Smashing/Lethal resistance closer to the cap with Tough, but that's about it.
It is possible to soft-cap 2 out of 3 positions, but it will be very expensive and possibly gimp the rest of your build to do it. If you can get to around 20-25% defense to all positions you should be in good shape.
Dark doesn't suck at all, you just need to wrap your head around the idea that it isn't like any of the other sets scrappers can use.
(waiting for Desmodos to post in here)
EDIT: Okay, I guess I was the third to tell him. -
I have 5 Touch of the Nictus and the Theft of Essence +End
The damage proc was the one I left out of Touch of the Nictus. -
Should work nicely. Keep in mind though that the only thing it will really be effective against is whatever you happen to be actively beating on at the time.
-
That's odd, I've never seen it miss before. I fired it off in RV and hit a whole crowd of villains who had just ganked me and it hit every one of em. It has no accuracy slotting in it at all.
Several of the villains in question had high enough defense that I was having trouble hitting them with my regular attacks, even after using Aim.
I've never seen it miss a target in PvE either. I can't accept that I've just been getting that lucky with my to-hit checks. -
Just my input on the matter. Anything SR based is going to be stupid overpowered on a blaster.
1) Quickness: 20% global recharge basically for free. And it's one of the two powers you pick to open the pool to boot.
2) Practiced Brawler: Even with the same duration and recharge as Indomitable Will from the controller APPs this is just silly. With the insane amounts of recharge some high-end builds can achieve this would be able to be made perma.
3) Heightened Senses: Toggle power with 10% to all 3 positions? This would be enhancable to around 15%. There are people already making builds that hit 30% to all positions, with no APP at all. This power would make it possible to soft-cap a blaster to all positions. Don't think that will ever be allowed.
And that's JUST the first 3 powers.
If this APP ever saw the light of day, well, you could build a blaster with absolutely no weaknesses. Think about it.
Soft-capped to all positions. Mez protection that can be perma, and even if a mez DOES get through you can still use your first 3 powers. And an extra 20% recharge in a power that needs no slots at all, making it that much easier to make PB perma. Add in Aid Self and you will be out-living and out-damaging 95% of all scrappers.
Do you see what I'm getting at here? This would be grossly overpowered. -
PvP drops are the way to go for quick cash. IF you're good. If you're no good at PvP it will be YOU being farmed for them.
Can always make a deal with a friend to do some arena matches and take turns killing each other. Farming PvP drops takes a long time, but if you get one of the highly sought after ones you will have quite a windfall on your hands.
If I want purples I just run scanner missions on my main or my sonic/devices blaster. The drop rate doesn't change so there's no point in running the same mission over and over. -
[ QUOTE ]
Villains are already at a disadvantage merit wise.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is true.
However, do you know why heroside TFs are worth so much more merit-wise? It's because they take forever to get done comparitively. The longest SF has, what, 8 or 9 missions maybe? Compared to Posi with 16 missions, half of which are defeat alls (that are completely unnecessary) and then there's Dr. Q, which is what, 24 missions long?
They base it on time spent on the TF rather than any inherent worth to the TF. Poistron could easily be streamlined down to maybe 10 missions tops, while still telling the full story. I still think it's a little messed up that the lowest level task force in the game, the first one that new players encounter, is also the second longest and most annoying.
Do you really want the devs to give villainside SFs and story arcs the same treatment heroside ones got? -

Wolverine rides a motorcycle, X-men have a jet, Batman has a boat, a car, a motorcycle, and a jet, The A-team had a van )I pity the Fool), Dark Wing Duck had a motorcycle and Launchpad flew the jet, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have their Turtle Van
I think it would be awesome if a new travel power pool was created. One involving vehicles.
Like:
1 - Motorcycle
2 - Car (one seater)
3 - Truck, van, or larger car (driver and team members can ride in it)
4 - Helicopter or jet (driver and team members can ride in it)
or if not a power pool, at least invention recipe.
[/ QUOTE ]
The game's coding makes it at BEST, impractical. At worst, impossible.
A motorcycle is the only one that would even be feasible, and you would still have to come up with an animation for every single power in the game. Unless you're okay with jumping off your motorcycle to hit Reconstruction, which is what would happen with the current coding.
Would being able to ride a motorcycle be cool? Yeah, I have to agree that it would be pretty cool. But, I'm also being realistic about it and realizing that its impractical.
I'm also not going to ask BaBs to do that much work just to give us a motorcycle. Especially seeing as they would have to make several different varieties of motorcycles to appease everyone as best they could. A Harley-Davidson and a Kawasaki have completely different ways of riding them that would require seperate animations in order to not look ridiculous.
So, in short: It would be cool if we got motorcycles, but I'm pretty sure it's never going to happen. -
Interesting idea.
I could go along with something like this if it were extremely well thought out. If you got rid of as many loopholes as you possibly could it would be a reasonably fair system for determining AE rewards. Of course you'll never get rid of ALL the loopholes, because people will just find new ones, but it would help a little bit.
The only downside to this idea that I can think of immediately is that not every mob is the same level of threat to every character.
For example: A custom boss that uses nothing but fire attacks is a much greater threat to a defender than a fire tank with capped fire resistance. That boss mob would 2 or 3 shot a defender and not even be able to scratch the tank. You'd have to come up with a system that takes variables like this into account. -
I agree that the farmers SHOULD move to Galaxy. On the basis that I have talked to new players myself that were under the impression that farming was the only way to play the game.
It was sad. I answered a question in broadcast about how to find the tailor with a tell.
The player asking the question responded "You mean there are other places to go?"
He really didn't know. The poor guy was level 31, and had never left Atlas Park. He was running MA missions the whole time and no one ever told him there was more than just Atlas Park to explore. He didn't even know there was a map. (I'm guessing he pressed the N key and closed his navigation window, and didn't know how to bring it back)
Since Atlas Park is where the majority of new players start the game, the farmers in AE should move elsewhere to prevent this kind of thing from happening. The guy I mentioned above told me he asked if there was anything else to do in the game and someone told him no. He was about to quit because he thought that's all there was to the game.
I know it's never going to happen. The farmers have no reason to move because they don't care if they are annoying people with broadcast spam for farm missions or ruining the game for new players by telling them there is nothing else to do. The worst part is, the new crop of farmers that are telling people there is nothing else to do? Some of them probably believe that because that's what THEY were told.
I avoid Atlas altogether these days unless I HAVE to go there for some reason. -
Doesn't look bad. There are things I would do differently, but it's fairly solid overall.
One thing I will suggest: Replace the Numina's Heal/End in Health with the Miracle +Recovery. You'll lose 25 HP, but gain 15% end recovery, taking you from 3.22 per second to 3.5. That will help the end problems your build would have in exceptionally long fights. Dark Consumption won't help much against only one target, making it not really worth using in AV fights, especially as it is slotted for damage and recharge instead of end mod. -

Ya know, does it really matter? I mean come on, hes making an honest challenge to people who like to mess around with making different builds. Hes even willing to compensate them for their time. Who cares if he or anyone else copies the build. If someone makes a good one that people want to use then let them. A build can only really do so much in the end cause it take practice and time with the set, AT, and build itself to get good with it and even then some things can and need to be tweaked

Yeah, I reread my post and I came off as more of a jerk than I meant to. I apologize for my rudeness. It was the result of me taking the OP as saying "I don't want to think this up for myself, so someone else do it"
I didn't mean to be a jerk, but yeah, that was kind of harsh of me. -

This has probably been asked already, but what the heck. Why, oh why I ask, oh why as a blaster, controller or defender do I have to take boxing or kicking(waste of power slot) to get the two defensive powers. Does not make sense when trying to design a hero. I don't want my Controller or Defender to Box someone so I can get a little tougher.
What I would like to see is two things:
1. More Power pools, more variety
2. Maybe, not sure I am sold on this myself, but have the power pools either a. be available dependent on origin type, or b. more customisable.
Thoughts.................and please don't stone me for this. But I have seen many posts about the power pools........
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, for starters it IS called the "Fighting" pool, not the "Dodging" pool. Boxing has a use as a set mule on any character I take it on. Also, there are usually better powers to take on a defender or controller than the fighting pool.
And again, how did your character become tough or learn how to dodge things if they never learned how to fight?
1) Yes, always a good idea to have more options.
2) A: ABSOLUTELY NOT! I DO NOT WANT MY CHARACTER UNABLE TO FLY BECAUSE I AM NOT THE RIGHT ORIGIN! Would that make natural origin characters unable to take a travel power at all? I can't even begin to describe how bad of an idea this is.
B) More customizable I'm leery on. It could be cool, or it could be broken as well. The ability to take all the good powers out of the pools without having to take any of the bad ones would lead (like everything else seems to) to min/maxing. Depending on HOW customizable they are it could also lead to tankmagery.
Decent ideas (except 2a) but could use more fleshing out to answer some of the stuff left vague. -
Heh, my wife clicks on all her powers.
I use the arrow keys for movement and press the number keys for power activation. I'm so used to it it would take me months to adapt to using a mouse. I also play on a laptop with no external mouse, so clicking on things isn't even an option. For location powers I use the little cursor pad.
Since I usually use Shield Charge on my tank as an extra AoE rather than for movement into amob I usually leave my cursor at my character's feet at all times. If I'm not playing that character I leave the cursor hovering slightly off to one side.
Numbers for tray 1, Alt+Numbers for tray 2, tray 3 is for rarely used powers I don't want to hit by accident (Self Destruction, I'm looking at YOU) I click on them using the cursor pad dealy. -
I will amend my previous post to eliminate Claws/WP from the running.
As far as JUST the powersets are concerned with no pool powers taken into consideration Claws/Regen is the lightest on end by far.
Regen only has one toggle, as opposed to Willpower's 4. That alone makes the difference.
Keep in mind, this is not including Stamina, just the powers available in the powersets, slotted any way you see fit. If you 4 slot QR, and put an end reduction in each attack you will use less endurance than anything else. -
Except the problem arises that the player receiving that email will probably delete it amongst the spam and never even see it, leaving the OP with the misconception that he is being ignored.
To the OP: If you are still rank 5 you should still have the ability to communicate through the SG MOTD. If you start a dialog with the other player through that he will be far more likely to pay attention to it.
I do agree with Ad_Astra on one point though. Don't approach the other player like he is a thief. He didn't steal anything from you. Clearly he was invited to the SG at some point, or he would not be in it. As such, it is his SG too. I'd say at this point you both have equal rights to it. You left for a significant amount of time and leadership got automatically passed to him. It's kind of like taking an extended leave of absence from your job and coming back to find that someone has been doing your job while you were gone.
I can tell you this much: If you treat the other player like a thief, he will be upset with you. And I couldn't say I would blame him. -
My point was that other MMOs have been doing exactly that for years. No dialog, no warning, just hit em with the banstick.
Now that CoH is doing the same thing it is suddenly a horrible thing. There is no proof one way or the other that some (or most) of the players who never touched AE didn't get banned for something else. People have been getting banned in CoH since the game started, you are naive if you think otherwise. But, since they kept it quiet, there was no uproar. The player was just gone with no explanation.
The devs informed the playerbase that the risk of getting characters deleted and accounts banned existed. Presumably in the interest of good communication with the community. Personally, I think that was a mistake on their part. If they were going to start banning people they should have just done it and not said anything. There would be far fewer threads like this, and far fewer people up in arms about the "injustice" of all of it.
The only sympathy I have is for those players who just started and joined the Comm Officer farms because they thought that's what they were supposed to do. They didn't know that was an exploit, they were just doing what everyone else was doing. I have no sympathy for experienced players doing the same, they should know better.
I have to just shake my head every time I see the argument brought up of: "I pay my $15 a month, I should be allowed to do what I want"
That is exactly the same as telling a judge in traffic court: "I pay my taxes, traffic laws shouldn't apply to me."
