I should stop reading the forums when I first wake up. I read the title of this thread as "Law of Elves"
I was like: "the hell?" until I remembered what the title was supposed to be. -
With old Defiance it was Shout with so little health left you couldn't see the bar anymore. It hit like a friggin' truck.

Adding merits to every mission would basically be feeding the "gimme NOW!" mentality that has been cropping up more and more often of late.
You aren't SUPPOSED to be able to trick out your character with the best stuff that easily. Why do you think AV soloing scrappers are a relative rarity? Because it is expensive and time consuming to build one to that level.
Most normal content is pretty trivial to a character that is IOed as much as it can possibly be. I kind of doubt the devs want people to be able to trivialize content with ease. It is possible to do currently, but you have to work at it.
Also, why would the devs implement something to fix a percieved problem with the markets....which they have no control over? It is not the devs job to give you a way of avoiding something that was blown out of whack by your fellow player. -
Quote:The Ninja comment is irrelevant. Ninjas didn't (and don't) carry katanas. They carried a ninja-to, which is a slightly shorter, single edged, straight-bladed sword. Any time you see a ninja carrying a katana the person doing so failed in their research. The ninja-to was designed to punch through armor in a stabbing motion from concealment, hence the shorter, relatively thick-spined blade and long hilt. The shorter straight blade was also easier to use to slice a jugular with than a katana. It was worn over the right shoulder to facilitate stealth (hard to be sneaky when your scabbard is bouncing off of things in the dark) and the shorter blade made it possible to draw from that position. This is ONLY true for Japanese Samurai. Okinawan "Samurais" carried katanas in left hand which made them generally better at sword fighting. Okinawans trained to use scabbard and sword simultaneously (scabbard in left hand and sword in right) unlike Japanese Samurai who depended on two hands using sword.
Also, you forget that Ninjas would often use Samurai weapons against Samurais, so Ninjas did not carry Katanas on left hip (as you state) rather on backs.
Be careful of being pretentious...doesn't look good.
The katana required much more space to use effectively than a ninja-to, which was also designed to use in confined spaces. A ninja-to did not have the same power in a slashing motion as a katana, the longer curved blade added power by slicing and drawing the entire edge along the target. Since ninjas relied on stealth, such an attack was impractical and would draw too much attention should they carry their slash all the way through a target and strike something else, making more noise than necessary. A stabbing motion was more easily controllable, so their weapon was designed with that in mind.
Edit: The stalker's Ninja Blade is actually a good example of the ninja-to, the color tintable version's dimensions are actually more realistic than the Legacy version, which was slightly too large. People who call that weapon a katana are mistaken. -
Perhaps the bonus from Enforced Morale is flagged as a temporary Large Recharge Bonus?
That would explain why it's behaving like that. If it IS flagged as such it would be therefore subject to the law of 5. -
*shrug*
Ok, I stand corrected. Maybe I just got lucky with Sleep Grenade, I used it with my Sonic/Devices/Munitions to stack with Siren's Song on bosses. Maybe I just never missed enough of a spawn for agro to matter.
I've never personally used Spore Burst, I asked my wife about it, she has a Plant troller and was under the impression it didn't agro. Maybe she neve missed enough of a spawn to notice it either. -
The only other ones that don't notify to my knowledge are Sleep Grenade from Blaster Munitions Mastery, and Spore Burst from Plant Control.
Using those two as a template, it would be a reasonable guess that any sleep power that does no damage would not notify, but those are the only ones I am sure of. -
Quote:Am I the only person that has an issue with looking at things this way? (bolded part)
If the price goes high enough, some farmers will return to AE and farm tickets because it's steady income as opposed to the lottery rolls of purple farming.
Personally, I play video games to take my mind OFF of how much money I'm earning and where it is going, among other things. Not only do I have to worry about stretching my paycheck to cover all the bills in real life, but I'm also expected to worry about how much fictional currency my pixelated character is earning as well?
I have never played anything because it is the best reward for time spent. I play things because it is the most FUN for the time spent. My characters are not IOed to the gills with influence falling out of their pockets (not that their tights even have pockets to begin with), but I'm having fun, isn't that the important part?
I have seen a lot of posts and talked to people who have said that farming is boring, but they do it anyway. Why? Why are these people doing something that bores them, making their free time that they have to play in less enjoyable?
If you enjoy farming, okay, no questions about that. You find it fun, so it's not confusing.
I'm just confused by the people who do something they don't enjoy in a game that is intended for enjoyment and entertainment. It's not like you will get a promotion at your real job, or get a new car for being bored killing the same things repeatedly. You character gets a lot of shiny stuff that doesn't affect your life in the slightest. Is that really worth doing something you don't enjoy for?
I'm sorry, but I have a problem with that mindset. If you treat your video game exactly how you do your real life, doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of playing it? -
You pretty much got it.
I play CoH anywhere from 1 to 3 hours a day, more if my schedule allows. Perfectly normal behavior.
If I were to play CoH 16 hours a day and did nothing else, causing my marriage to fail, loss of income, health deterioration, and unwillingness to leave the computer for more than a few minutes, that would be an indication of a problem.
It's not just the video games, there are millions of people who play them and suffer no adverse consequences. It is when they begin to interfere with an otherwise normal life that they become a problem.
Also, addiction is usually associated with a psychological dependence on whatever it is. A feeling of not being able to live without said object, substance or activity is another sign of addiction. In the case of substances there is sometimes a physical dependence on it, you body grows accustommed to it's presence and there are adverse side effects to halting the intake of said substance. Fortunately video games do not fall into the physical dependence category. -
I shall have to attempt Arcana's challenge. It will be laughable, I'd bet, but should be fun too.
I'll run all my scrappers through it. I give my main and my BS/DA the best chance, only because they're level 50 and have more IOs than anyone else.
Are there any rules to it? Similar to RWZ Challenge, or is it anything goes? -
Quote:NM, I decided to take both.
Wondering if I should try farming zombies of some sort since do Lethal and have resistance to Dark.
Farm Necro MMs.
Black Swan's missions are good ones, your negative energy resistance will be good, if you can cope with the to-hit debuffs it should be relatively painless for you. -
My god man, the toggles....the TOGGLES!
If I wanted to roll up a 3rd DA character I would consider Spines/DA. I'm enjoying my Spines/Fire so far at 38, and I know more or less how a Spines/Dark will play (having played both primary and seconday to at least high enough to have all the powers)
Yes, you have indeed created a monster.
And also, kudos on finding a way to use probably the most seldom used costume piece in the game. -
Rad/Sonic
and....
....actually that's it. I've had a few others, but they've all been deleted, the Rad/Sonic is the only one still active and will be my first defender to ever hit 50 (he's already my first to get past 30) -
Put the Steadfast Protection Resistance/Defense in Resilience. It will still increase the resistance of the power, and it will add 3% defense to everything
Stamina will be good for this build, you won't get much at all out of Dark Consumption against one target like an AV. Consider going with Body Mastery or Weapons mastery so you can take Focused Accuracy or Targeting Drone. That will give you a place to slot Gaussian's Synchronized Fire Control, which has awesome set bonuses, including a 2.5% defense boost to all 3 positional defenses. -
Quote:Buh-wha?!if your low on end pop mog drop all toggles and sit there then re pop them when mog is about to drop
If you're regen and you're EVER low on end you are doing something very wrong somewhere.
I pushed MoG back to 49 on my latest Claws/Regen build, but that character never exemps at all, so I'm not losing anything by doing so. -
I have heard that scrapper Blaze Mastery is going to be identical to tanker Pyre Mastery, including the presence of Melt Armor.
Body Mastery is apparently getting a power called Physical Perfection. But I have no clue what it actually does. It could be a Shadow Meld clone.
(Note: This is based on what I saw in a post elsewhere, I can't confirm one way or the other)
Edit: Here is the article that mentions it: http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?g...re=3424&bhcp=1 -

You should be able to edit anything else in the costume without affecting those. My main had the original Face 1 for a long time, and I could change anything else about the costume without affecting the face.
I would say the safest way to go about it is to never even click on Upper body or Back Options.
You shouldn't have any problems, but if you're that concerned about it, you may be better off not editing her powers. -
Eh, Jack did a lot of things that screwed us over, but in the long run, we're better off for the things he did. GDN, ED, and a few other things set the stage for Inventions, and the game is much better for it.
The only thing I ever had a problem with him about was his: "I like it, so that means everyone else will too" attitude about a lot of things.
The thing with the powers that were going to be replaced in the APPs? As it turns out, because it was a very unpopular move, they reversed it and just added the replacement powers to the pools instead. I'd be willing to bet if Mr. Emmert had still been in charge our complaints would have fallen on deaf ears and those powers would have been gone.
The current devs listen to player feedback and it DOES color their decisions. If they have an idea and a large number of people speak out against it, they may reconsider it, or adjust their implementation of it. Jack-era CoH didn't have such a rapport, decisions were made and things were done regardless of what any of us had to say about it.
Jack did a lot of good things for the game, but his management style left much to be desired. Personally I am glad he is no longer in charge, because I prefer the direction the game took after he was out of the picture. -
Also. If you press the Right Alt key twice you should get two more power trays that are attached to your first one. Click on the right arrow in the trays (looks like this: <1>) to change which tray it displays. I have mine set up with tray 1 on the bottom, then tray 2 above that, and tray 3 on the top. It probably won't be that important to you yet, but when you get more powers you can have them all on-screen at once that way.
You can also click and drag your power buttons around between trays if you didn't know. -
Hell, that one's better than mine, and mine runs it just fine. You shouldn't have any problems, just make sure you have the most recent graphics drivers and you should be good.

Yeah, screenshots were taken of the winners. Don't know when they're going to post them though.
I tied for 3rd in the Concept portion of it. I was stunned because I thought there were characters there much better than mine. -
Quote:Agro management isn't too big of a deal. You'll be busy, but you can do it. My wife plays a fire/fire blaster in a duo with my tank. If I'm just using AAO and Gauntlet they'll peel off me when she hits em especially hard, but one taunt reels em right back in. It's a little more of an active agro management pairing, but it does ok.
BillZ and Claws, on your SD/DMs how do you find aggro-management, especially with high-damage blasters in the mix?
But, if you hit em with Soul Drain, Dark Consumption, or Shield Charge they're yours. Running in just a duo, between my wife's blaster's damage and my own, honestly, nothing lives long enough for agro management to be a concern. -
SD/DM is the scrappiest tank you will ever play. Mine is sitting at 39 or 40. I often forget I am playing a tank, becaue it just feels so much like a scrapper.
