Quote:I'd say go BS/DA because it is a known quantity. Not many people know too much about Electric Armor at high levels, since it is only on test right now.I've decided to go the Scrapper route, for all-over survivability.
I think I'll be going with Broad Sword, but I'm still undecided between /Dark or /Electric. Combined with Parry, both are looking like very strong contenders.
...
Although now I am faced with a further problem. Trying new characters out on test has shown how much of a boon the changes to Brawl and the Origin Attack are to early characters... and I don't really feel like putting time and effort into a character that is in the Training Room.
Dangit... now I've got even more reasons to want i16 now! :-(
Would hate to see you get a BS/Elec to high levels only to find out it sucks. I have my doubts about how good Electric Armor is going to be for scrappers because of the lower resistance cap. Brutes have the same base values as scrappers, but they have tanker caps as well. I don't know of anyone who has a stalker high enough to tell me how Electric Armor is on them.
If I had to guess I'd say scrapper Electric will probably be under tanks and brutes, but above stalkers (largely because of the HP difference)
I have a very solid BS/DA build you can look at for ideas, it's not the best I've ever seen, but it is a good one. And it's relatively cheap to build.
You can find it here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=189427
The second build is the one I'm using, I made some minor changes from it, but that's basically it. -
I have no opinion on this yet.
Like many others said, I'd like to see what you have in mind before saying yay or nay.
The current question is like asking people whether they would like to replace a senator, but not telling them who the replacement will be.
I can maybe think of a way to have both (since I'm guessing claws brutes are part of the reason for this being brought up)
If you are claws/stone you do not get the option of original Granite, but if you are not claws you get a choice between original and the new version (extra crispy?) Probably not feasible, I know, just throwing the possibility out there.
If you can mock up something so we can see what it will look like, we'd be able to give a more informed opinion. But....I don't really want to ask you to do that work only to have it be a resounding "no". -
Quote:There's already a feature in place that cuts you off if you say too much in broadcast too fast. Most people don't realize it's there, because most people never hit the broadcast spam threshold. Safe bet RMT spammers will hit it frequently. (I'll test in a zone where I won't be annoying people to find out what the threshold is, maybe Boomtown or DA)I recently downloaded Rapplez... and OMG, I can just see the spammers now in game with a fresh copy of Auto-** to automatically spam about 100 messages all numbered so much the bubble remains over thier head constantly and NOBODY can talk ANYWHERE near the fools. (unfortunately I'm still trying to figure out how to petition or report anything inside that game)
Though I found it mildly amusing watching two toons right next to eachother broadcast competing websites for the better part of a hour it was all http://www.blahblahImafilthyspammerb...-gamemoney.com with 1 then, 2 then, 3 and so on and so forth tacked onto the end of it to prevent any sort of spam catcher from nabbing them.
But yeah after this email thing goes off I can imagine a couple of toons repeating the same site over and over again right next to liberty in AP.
Dealing with these clowns will be as simple as /gignore. If it happens like that, I'll break in occasionally telling people how to ignore them if they don't already know, if everyone in the zone is /gignoring them, they're wasting their time. -
Nothing wrong with buying prestige with influence as long as the influence used is earned in the game. As soon as RMT comes into it, it becomes a problem.
Buying prestige is a huge boon to the small 1 or 2 person SGs that can't rack up prestige quickly, but CAN earn lots of influence, whether by farming, playing the market, or even a couple lucky drops that sell for a lot.
To sum up:
Buying prestige with influence: No problem
Buying influence with real money to fund it: Problem -
Never said they needed a buff, just that I'd like to see the chance to crit equal between the 2 ATs that have the ability. Scrappers play just fine now.
Edit: Roderick said much the same thing. I happen to agree that the crit chance should be the same between scrappers and stalkers, either way they would do it. But, increasing scrapper's chance to 10% would be preferable to reducing stalkers to 5%.
Second Edit to clarify my position:
I'm not angry about this by any means. It's not a gamebreaker for me at all. I just feel it would be fair for an ability shared by two ATs to work more or less the same for both of them. -
Quote:I don't think scrappers are gimped at all, this thread just happened to bring up one of my only sore spots regarding them. The point is, stalkers were completely under-performing to the point of no one playing them. Low population alone is not a reason to buff an AT, but when the low population is the direct result of ineffectiveness, it is warranted.
Honestly, Claws, I know enough from your posts that you should be the last person to think that scrappers are gimped.
Quote:hm. funny thing is, I never thought of the hide/crit thing as a genuine inherent, as it only functions with two powers- hide and placate. As such, I always viewed it more as an attribute of those powers. The stalker critical chance functions at all times, under the given circumstances, with all powers. As such, it seems more like a genuine inherent, whilst the 'hide' thing is a power gimmick.
*psssst: brutes have a ST guantlet ALONG with fury*
Honestly, I agree that stalkers DID need a buff, I'm not complaining about that at all. The buff they got was warranted and made the AT much better.
If stalkers had gotten the exact same chance to critical as scrappers, with no differences, I wouldn't care in the slightest.
The part that bugs me is they got a better base chance to crit, AND an increase to that chance while teammates are near, while scrapper crits stayed exactly the same.
If they buffed scrapper chance to crit to 10% (like stalker's base) and left off the increased chance for teammates being near, I'd be happy with that.
Like I said, it's not really a huge deal to me, just one of my pet peeves.
Fleeting: Scrapper Willpower is better too, for the same reason scrapper Regen is: More HP -
Quote:Sprint doesn't accept the Universal Travel sets to prevent people from loading up Sprint and all 4 Prestige Sprints with Blessing of the Zephyr for huge defense bonusesPretty sure that Sprint does not take Universal Travel sets, but it does take Running and Jumping sets.
Swift and Hurdle do not accept any sets.
The +Stealth IO's should work at any level that the power is available, regardless of the level of the IO. Unsure why it's not working for you, as it does work for me.
I can't imagine why you would want to do that, since that's 10 slots you could have put somewhere better. But that's the reason.
edit: Zombie Man beat me to it -
Dark and Storm are both better than Pain or Empathy by a wide margin.
1) Not taking damage is better than healing it
2) See point 1
Most players that MUST have a healer on the team don't pay any attention to what anyone is doing beside themselves (sometimes not even that much)
Green numbers tell everyone that the healer is doing their job, even if their job is unnecessary
A Dark Miasma has very subtle powers, they are not flashy by any means. A lot of players never even see the power effects because they're too preoccupied with watching their XP bar go up. Therefore they think that since Dark's powers aren't obvious, they aren't doing anything.
I'm a little more ambivalent on Stormies. It's an awesome set, IF it's played well. There are a lot of bad Storm players out there who give the set a bad name because they have no clue how to use the tools they have. I cite the type of player that drops Tornado in the middle of a tank's herd as an example.
The good Stormies are an asset to just about any team, the bad ones are a liability more often than not.
A skilled Empath is an asset as well.
The downside to that is: The majority of players who insist on having one on the team have no clue how to tell a good one from a bad one. As long as they see green numbers, they're happy. It doesn't matter if the Empath is afk with the tank on follow, with healing Aura on autofire to these people, because by Jove they're HEALING!!!
An empath who does nothing but spam the heal aura and put Fortitude on the tank (usually the LAST member of the team who needs it) is dead weight in my book. Unfortunately, thanks to AE PLing, those horrible Emps who give the set a bad name are making a comeback. -
I look at it like this:
Wouldn't blaster players be upset if corruptors got a BETTER version of Defiance, AND got to keep their inherent ability of Scourge?
They took one of the things that made scrappers unique (the ability to land a critical at any time) and gave an improved version of it to another AT, while that AT also got to keep the inherent they had before (the ability to guarantee a critical when in hide)
And scrappers received nothing in return for that.
Sorry, just happens to be one of my pet peeves. -
My Broadsword/Dark Armor scrapper is absolutely unkillable against Carnies, they aren't even a credible threat to him.
Take end drain resistance, add a minion stun, gobs of lethal damage, and silly amounts of Psi resistance, and you have a character that Carnies have no way to effectively oppose.
Also, my BS/DA is softcapped to ranged, and will be to AoE when I acquire a few more necessary IOs, and he is softcapped to melee just by attacking (Parry is part of his chain) making even the normal smashing/lethal damage they do not much of a concern either. -
Quote:It's called "criticism"Gee,i dont think that any suggestion that I,or anyone else made, plays with this crowd. Is it something to just tear down to make yourselves feel better,or something?
I think that people like you all make "Suggestion and Ideas" a gigantic joke thread.
Is it that,or do you just want to not loose your ability to save "No" ober and over and over"
..and,i suppse that, just like AE farming,(May the high one bless it)people who refuse, and not team with each other constantly, over and over, and over,is one of the things ruining this game in my opinion, and also, people who ignore each others tells for teaming is another.
..and as far as being the one that people dont like to take team invites from,Lost Ninha?I'm not really a big fan of people to begin with Ninja. There loyalties and love are like granola bars..flaky.Who cares what they think,Ninja?
What would happen if people were to say no,over and over to suggestions made in thsi thread, like they do in the game?It would pretty much be decommissioned due to lack of interest.
One of it's side effects is: It tends to point out how your idea isn't as awesome as you thought it was.
And no, I HAVEN'T gone through constant refusals from ANYONE, because I only team when I feel like it. I supposed that makes me a dirtbag liar?
What I got out of this, and the OP is a not-so-cleverly disguised version of "WAAAAAAH!! I CAN'T FIND A TEAM!! MAKE THEM TEAM WITH ME!!!"
Your idea is to force people to team that don't want to so they can get rewards for it, and it's a bad idea. As I'm sure you've noticed, this section of the forums is NOT shy about telling someone when their idea sucks.
I and many others, LIKE the fact that we are not required to be on a team to accomplish things. Your idea would kill the enjoyment people like us get out of doing things by ourselves.
Your next argument of "If you want to solo, play a single player console game" falls flat before you even make it. Even the most hardcore soloist enjoys playing on a team occasionally, which is impossible in a single player game.
You seem to have this notion that because you asked someone they HAVE to accept your invite. Wake up pal, it's not all about you.
Edit: Well said Sam. You were coming from the same place as me there....
...only you were a lot nicer about it. I'm honestly tired of being nice to people who have insulted me for disagreeing before I have even spoken. -
Justifiable?
Give scrappers the same ability to crit more often on teams in the first place, THEN we'll talk about letting stalkers crit more for virtual teammates.
STILL annoys the hell out of me that in buffing stalkers....they were given a BETTER version of the scrapper inherent. -
I bump the the difficulty up as soon as the character in question can handle it. I don't think I've ever stayed on Heroic past level 22 or so.
If I can't solo on at least Tenacious I lose interest in the character real fast. -
Yes, you didn't see Touch of Death because you were looking at level 41 or higher recipes, and Touch of Death only goes up to 40. It defaults to your current level, you have to manually adjust it to show other levels.
-
It's very true they probably have their own ideas.
But, if they HAVEN'T thought of one or more of the things brought up here, wouldn't you be annoyed to find out they got the idea for something annoying the hell out of you....from you yourself? -
Quote:Perma Hasten is necessary to get: Perma Domination, Perma Dull Pain and Perma a-few-other-things.And in getting Perma-hasten, I'd have aquired a hasten and a half's worth of +recharge. Urging me to ask, why did I want Hasten again?
Usually, Perma Hasten is a means to an end, rather than the end itself. -
The flame war that caused the S&I forum to be moved down here was bad enough that if the participants had been in the same room it would have been a physical fight.
Not kidding.
They banned the worst offenders and moved it to "For Fun!" to give the implication that any suggestion made here should not be taken too seriously, because it is, in fact, just a suggestion.
When it was in Development people were acting as though anything suggested in this forum was guaranteed to happen (who knows, maybe they really thought it was)
In "For Fun!" it is clear that these are PLAYER suggestions and they are not guaranteed to happen. Being in Development implied that the devs were getting personally involved in it.
Personally I can't wrap my brain aroud the mindset that would see things that way, but apparently a lot of people DID see it that way.
The way the devs seem to work with the section now is, they wait until a suggestion has been around a while. If it gathers popular support, won't be game-breaking, and withstands all the criticism thrown at it, they take a look at it to see if it's something they want to do. They DO read the section, they just don't post in it to avoid giving the impression that they support something that they may only be commenting on. -
Quote:I'm not exactly sure why , but a lot of people seem have mistakenly read "villains can't get the powers re-ordered" as "villains can't have the new power."
Yup. They couldn't move the power on villainside because Electric Armor was an already existing set and it would have broken quite a few builds. Nothing stopping them from replacing Conserver Power with Energize on all toons that had it though.
Since Electric Armor heroes didn't exist they could do whatever they wanted with power ordering without hurting anything. -
Quote:You need more practice thinking outside the box. That's always been my opinion. Dual Blades involves a lot of fancy dancing, which just does not mesh with any image of a Brute I've ever had. Brute no twirl around with skinny swords! Brute SMASH!
As an aside, ditto for Tankers. I could never take a lumbering bulwark "big guy" archetype seriously using the Dual Blades set. At least, not unless you max out his size and pick the smallest weapon skins available, to say "I'm so big, this is how small my weapons are in my hands!"
A dual blades brute can fit the idea just as easily as an SS.
As the fight goes on the brute's adrenaline increases, causing him to get more aggressive with his swords, swinging them faster and putting more power behind the strikes.
And who says a brute has to be dumb? There's Archtypes, and then there's stereotypes.
And why is it that brutes and tanks are the only ATs viewed this way?
I -
Okay, I guess they do still work.
Wonder why lowercase wasn't working for me for a while? I didn't do anything different when I was using them, so I don't think it was user error. -
-
Also a LOT of the old code still works, you just have to capitalize it now.
Capital I and capital B in place of the lowercase versions we used to use.
I only have the vaguest idea about the rest of the code you're discussing, just thought I'd mention this. -
Relying on salvage drops to craft all your recipes will not work out in the long run. the reason being, not all salvage drops at all levels. I made a set of Eradication for my scrapper and none of the salvage was anything that would drop off an enemy for me without exemping (Eradication tops out at level 30)
You can store more stuff in WW/BM as well. If you put it in there and don't set a price on it, it acts like storage. No one can buy it if you don't set a price.
