    Maperves

Ran a Moonfire with a group last night, a significant portion of the team ran into Mapserver problems. I, and a couple of others, again never saw anything. There has to be some issue involved, but doesn't seem to be universal to Justice connection.
  2. Chyll

    JUSTICE???

I have seen/heard a lot of Justice lag, mapserver issues the last few days from players on teams and in chat channels, but I haven't seen a single hiccup.

I wondered if there's a geographic element to it, more an internet bandwidth issue. *shrug*

    Movie Quotes II

    Four Rooms

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost in time, like tears...in rain. Time to die.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
That made my flu go away for a total of 5 seconds.

Well worth the price of admission. Will watch again

I seriously doubt, however, there will be color customization for weapon-based powersets, which is what I traditionally use.

On Ene/Ene, however, probably making both yellow-red or a yellow-orange color.

    [/ QUOTE ]

weapon based? Not sure what you mean there.

If you mean blasts/punches instead of pets. That there is a colored blast in the pic.

    [ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
Kyle Reese: ...Some of us were kept alive... to work... loading bodies into dumpsters and incinerators. The disposal units ran night and day. We were that close to going out forever. But there was one man who taught us to fight, to storm the wire of the camps, to smash those metal [censored] into junk. He turned it around. He brought us back from the brink. His name is Connor. John Connor. Your son, Sarah, your unborn son.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This and other lines of dialogue, nay arguably the entire plot of the first movie make it clear that in the world the series is set in, Connor is the savior of humanity. Without him, mankind is doomed to extinction. He is such a lynchpin that skynet attempts multiple times to prevent his existence. However, in the latest movie, set at least a handful of years before Reese is sent back in time but after the nuclear holocaust, mankind is not on the brink of destruction. In fact it has enough resources to equip, fuel and fly helicopters and warplanes, to say nothing of keeping submarines operational. The best advantage Skynet was ever going to have, and when humanity would be closest to it's nadir, is in the period immediately after the nuclear attack. There would be no organized resistance and survivors would be wholly concerned with survival, let alone fighting against the machines. What we see in the first movie, with it's limited future scenes is consistent with this idea, humanity reduced to foragers and scavengers, driven underground by the machines to eke out an existence in hiding, not flying well equiped helicopters around Southern California in broad daylight.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Reese clearly has about what... 8-10 years of aging to do before he goes back to save Sarah? There still isn't anything directly contradicted with what happens in the next decade or so before humanity reaches a point that lines up with sending Reese back... This is just the next sequential step in the story. lots left to happen.

I'd also argue you are wrong in the precepts of what humanity's capability would be just after the nuclear war. Most of normal humans - yep struggling to get by. And we saw ample evidence of that. However, clusters of surviving military units and equipment making a heroic last stand? Yep I buy that. I'd expect them to attrit over the next couple of years pretty quickly too. Setting up, again, just your point on humanity at the brink....

    [ QUOTE ]

Is John Connor behind this? Does the knowledge and forewarning passed on to him by his mother allow him to alter things by having humanity better prepared. No. Why? Because in this film he is no longer the savior. Cripes he's not even the singular leader Reese clearly indicates him to be in the first film, he's merely a captain or lt. or other field rank officer within the resistance who must follow orders handed down from a leadership of commanders who are removed from the field of battle. This is flat out contradictory and inconsistent with what we know from the first film.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No its not.

But he had no recognized military experience. Gotta start somewhere. Human nature would dictate it would be unlikely to be at the top. Actually pretty logical that the surviving military command wouldn't plop him into the big chair and tell him to 'have at it'. This doesn't contradict anything.

And even still, everyone knew his name and that he was the promised savior. Heck, the entire resistance stood down on his orders.

    [ QUOTE ]

Then there is the problem of Reese. In Salvation, Reese replaces Connor as the lynchpin that needs to be saved, oddly, however, only so that he can father Connor, who according to the circumstances of the film itself, no longer seems critical or even necessary to humanity's future. Does anyone really think nobody but John Connor can get on the radio and give a decent pep talk?

    [/ QUOTE ]

What? 1) what does the radio pep talk have to do with Skynet being smart enough to realize that killing Reese is as good as killing Connor and going for both at once? And the programmed android's instructions were expressingly designed to get Connor... getting Reese was an extra bonus.

    [ QUOTE ]

But wait, we haven't gotten to my favorite paradox yet. Skynet captures Reese, recognizes him as important, and uses him for bait to lure Connor. In first movie we are told Skynet didn't have very good records about Connor's origins because records were destroyed in the war. But if Skynet knows that Reese is important, there are only two plausible reasons for him to be so from it's point of view. Either Skynet has deduced that he is Connor's father or it knows he will become the soldier that stops it's first Terminator. Without either of these, there is nothing special or significant about Reese that makes him worthy bait. But if Skynet knew either of these things, it makes more sense to simply kill Reese outright rather than use him as bait for Connor.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll give you a minor script issue with that one. But as for a contradiction... again, as mentioned, even Connor specifically stated that history was different. So some data survived the war. Maybe just the initial war - cause clearly it hasn't wound down yet. Is that data lost in the big explosion at the end of the movie. Skynet lacks the information going forward? Who knows. Again, no angst about it here.

This open relationship will have to be discussed with the Human Resources department. They might not like you dating the entire office, but this is Justice, after all.

  7. [ QUOTE ]
Just went to see last night with friends and after giving it some thought I've decided taken on it's own it's a pretty decent action flick with quality effects, but the people who wrote it really should have watched the original.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't see anything that directly contradicted the first movie, (clearly there is more yet that could come) and there were hints that the timeline might have shifted some due to the earlier Terminator interference.

    Love/Hate Thing

    [ QUOTE ]

Overall, not solo vs team or good team vs bad team, but in a truly balanced situation in which all ATs should be on a level playing field

    [/ QUOTE ]

    1) I still challenge your premise.
Why do they need to be on a level playing field? really, why not just have 1 AT then?

    2) Ignoring team vs. solo, etc. I find no disadvantage in my blaster blame. Different, yes. Disadvantaged? no t by a long shot. And I think, predominately, the general response in the thread concurs with that conclusion.

In short, Blasters are different and that does mean they are unbalanced, need fixing, or anything else - IMO, and in the minds of many others from what I read.
  11. [ QUOTE ]

Amusingly, the "damage nerf" to Psychic Shockwave just about evens out when you consider the damage buff to Dominators as a whole. Instead of dealing with highs and lows, now you get a consistent high. Plus you don't have to wait 38 levels to stop sucking. Now you're about even with other secondaries from level one. How cool is that?

You know, I'm not trying to be mean to you Dominator players out here, but you guys should take a look at how Stalker players reacted to their buff and try to model your posts off them. And think: You guys got an even better buff, in my opinion.

    Love/Hate Thing

    [ QUOTE ]

My personal observation after 3+ years and playing every AT with a very wide array of powersets is that blasters are the ONLY AT that can struggle at what they are designed to do without outside help

    [/ QUOTE ]

Use of the word struggle is widely overstating it.

    [ QUOTE ]

Yes, they can be built to do extaordinary things and yes insps help a lot but that only makes it difficult to pinpoint what changes would not screw up the balance

If we have reached the point where a character HAS to be IO'd then let's just say that and forget all this, but across the board what other AT has to ? (besides Doms, and that's changing)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I only just - since I14 - IO'd my namesake character and blaster. He's been running on SOs for years. I just never felt the need or the 'struggle' to change him. I came into some cash and decided to spruce him up is all.

    [ QUOTE ]

I ask again- is it my imagination that blasters faceplant more than any other AT?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No its probably not your imagination. It is probably true with you playing them. Now, I don't mean that to be snarky. Every AT plays different and not everyone's play style is suited to all ATs. You should see me struggle with my MMs.

    [ QUOTE ]
There seems to be a majority of agreement

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, I must not be reading the same thread. Or at a minimum my play experience generates completely different results.

    [ QUOTE ]
    1) inspirations ftw

    [/ QUOTE ]

True on all ATs, really. so this is specious at best.

    [ QUOTE ]
    2) build with IOs

    [/ QUOTE ]

I already point out that isn't necessary.

    [ QUOTE ]
    3) lower your difficulty

    [/ QUOTE ]

My lead blaster runs at a higher level than several other ATs/characters in my stable. Even when he was on SOs.

    [ QUOTE ]
So where do we go from here?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No where. And that's about as positive as I can be.
  13. I've noticed more lag than normal myself, but in each case found Windows was downloading in the back ground or waiting to finish installing a patch after download was complete. It seems like there have been more frequent instances of this in the lasts couple of weeks.

No other problems noted. I have not been on Virtue or Freedom, though.

    Dead emotes

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

However, some of our more clever players have figured out that you can edit the quickmenu on your personal system and basically set it up to do whatever you want. A bit of searching and I'm sure you can find a link to the how to for that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So the players are yet again doing your job for you? NICE!
Wait a minute, would this be editing the game? If so, isn't that against the EULA? Please correct me on this point if I'm wrong. I'd love to be able to insert some personal textures into the gameworld on my personal machine.

    What players should do :
    Design content....CHECK!
    Upgrade menu systems...CHECK!

    What players shouldn't do :
    Question Dev decisions.
Give negative feedback on bad design.

With all these new hires it seems that editing the quickmenu to incorporate specific emotes wouldn't be all that hard. But I could be wrong. I guess it's quite possible that all the coding to do so was lost way back when and that there's absolutely nobody on the staff who understands how to code.

    Wormhole?

    Any use?

    Wormhole is awesome!

One of the best tools to grab a spawn, dump them in a corner (leaving them all stunned), and then proceed to AoE them into kibbles.

Or, as I was doing on my Dom the other night in an outdoor map - Wormhole one spawn into the middle of another, drop an AoE hold on the lot of them, and then AoE two groups to kibble.

One of the most useful powers in Gravity Control. And incredibly unique too. Set defining, IMO.

Also Manoa and Iggy are right way too many great people to name.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, sure, Justice is filled with great people. No denying that.
I don't think identifying, or having fun discussing celebrities risks being malicious, or flamebait. At least not the way I took it.

I still remember the first time I encountered Kat in game. I was stunned. (and I even left her off my list earlier. Bad Chyll.)

Or when I saw Tic-Toc loitering aroudn WW...

Or, again, Doug the Troll. The start of the first mission I ever teamed with him I thought "wtf?!" and by the end I didn't want to stop playing. I remember how I lit up whenever I saw him later - particularly Winter Event when they first put in the ski slope.

"Celebrities" are the highlights that demonstrate the all around good memories and fun on Justice.

edit: And I am still get celeb-giddy a lot now when I see their namesake. Folks I know by their global and have teamed with several times on various alts... But when I see their global out and about 'in the digital flesh' its just cool.
