I broke down and bought the game yesterday. I am having fun kicking around Kingsmouth right now.
Learned quite a bit of stuff.. right now my main guy is elemental/chaos... but I have also picked up pistols.
One thing I really like is the repeatable missions so I can continue to get AP/SP and level up before I move on.
I'm still a little confused on the synergy between the skill sets and how/what to actually craft. -
I downloaded the free trial a day ago and I like it so far. I LOVE the present cultural references and the voice dialog. I also like that I was able to customize my power/move keys to the same keys I used in CoX
Makes it for an easier transition. I am starting to understand the mechanics of using powers, building up crits and why some powers are usable and some aren't. I think, right now, my hardest thing to get used to is line of sight which is a little different from CoX. I miss the auto face opponent, but I'll get it down.
I am getting the hang of it... I am playing an elemental Illuminati at the moment.. I picked up a shot gun, but I can't seem to use it... Do I need to spend an AP point or skill point in order to use it?
I'm still in zombie town.. going to investigate the ship. I have had some fun running around learning the story and lore. It seems well written. I appreciate the missions/side missions and the journal. I think the graphics, so far, are pretty good and it's not as bloody as I was worried it would be. (I don't like gross games)
I will probably buy it tomorrow when the trial runs out. So far is seems very solo friendly.. which I like/want. -
Quote:I read an article that called what you're describing as 'Joy of Movement.' Lack of it can kill a game or make you less enthused about playing it.The one thing we are all so "super" spoiled by is travel powers... all these other games want you to slowly... so slowly... jog across the map. Usually while fighting anything that you jog overly close to...
CoX was my first MMO, I'm REALLY not used to seeing a chest high wall and trying to figure out how to get around it....
CoX definitely has "Joy of Movement." GuildWars didn't.. you had to walk every where.. Aeon had it a little bit when you could finally fly, but even that is limited. For me, 'Joy of Movement' makes a big difference in whether I like the game or not, even console games. -
Without a doubt... I'd go higher.

Quote:After 8 years of playing/posting, I *FINALLY* got a Red Name to answer one of my posts.Depends on if you're looking to make patties or steak.
For the latter, I recommend slicing it into small chunks, and letting it marinate overnight in a mix of soy sauce and sesame seed oil. You can add some green onions, garlic and some chili paste for seasoning.
Afterwards, the best way to cook it would be on a charcoal grill if you have one. You can pretend that the steam being given off is the scream of innocent pandas. -
BP - how does one prepare panda?
Thank you for everything you've done and all the people you've frustrated doing it -
Matt. Melissa, and all the people of Paragon Studios,
Thank you. Thank you for 8+ years of fun and friendship. I had never played, nor wanted to play, an MMO until a friend of mine showed me the costume creator. The g.a.y. in me went crazy!I ran out that night and bought the game.. only to find my video card wasn't up to snuff... with 15 minutes left before Best Buy closed, I had a new video card. My life had changed forever.
As a proud member of the g.a.y. community, I can't thank you enough for creating a welcome environment for everyone to play.. no matter race, religion, orientation, what ever. Hate was never tolerated. All of the people working on CoH treated everyone with respect and made all their players feel important. I NEVER felt like I was just another account paying my monthly fee.
I will never forget the one Hero-Con I was able to attend. Playing board games with Synapse. I brought a cake to the party and he told me that I had to make sure Positron got a piece.. and I brought you one. Or meeting Melissa at the 'CoH Lore' contest and realizing that I didn't know HALF of what I thought I knew about the game. JLove in cowboy hat... But the one thing that sticks out the most is how all of the members of Paragon Studios loved what they were doing and really pushed to make the users happy.
When it comes to video games, console or PC, I have the attention span of a goldfish. 8+ years with one game is a testament to the game and the creators. I never left CoH, even though I tried others... they never lasted a month. Nothing could compare to this game and I don't think anything in the future will. You have spoiled me.
At 47 years old, I never thought I would be THIS upset over the closing of a video game. You, and the user community, were family to me for 3 cross- country moves when I had no family or friends. CoH was a home for me when I was alone. Over 8 years, CoH was life support for me when my father, grandmother, and pets died.
In closing, I thank you again for being a major part of my life. You will all be sorely missed.

A side benefit for me with being able to target myself, I would be more apt to apply them to the team on more consistent basis because I would be more aware of when the power wore off.
-
What's kind of silly for the powers that 'can not target self' is that fact that they now effect everyone in the caster's radius EXCEPT the caster.
-
I may be late to the party for these.. but THANK YOU!

Quote:Hi guys,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I've looked into it with CS, and it looks like it was just a misclick. Please remember that posting private communications between yourselves and NCsoft/Paragon Studios employees is against the forum rules. As such, I've removed the quoted bits above.
In any case, this should be resolved, and I've brought CS's attention to your issue. Sorry about the confusion!

I apologize as I did not know this bit of information. I will make sure not to do that again!!!! You can kill the thread. -

I submitted a bug the other day concerning jumping into a cement filled manhole in Preatoria. It was a bug submission, I did not expect a response in game. The first email I got was:
Quote:I know this.. it's a bug submission, not a petition.[Removed. ~Freitag]
The second email I received about 4 hours later was this:
Quote:[Removed. ~Freitag]
This is the second time I have received these emails from different GM's. They are misleading and frustrating.
What happened to the 'Thank you for reporting this problem. We will pass it on" emails? -
Quote:No.
They post a picture with codes on it.
Then you have to rush and type a code into the "Use a Serial Code" section of your PlayNC account.
Thanks.. I thought it was as originally stated that it needed to be re-tweeted. I am not going to bother with this as the codes go way too fast and I am busy at work. This contest isn't worth my time. -
Quote:There's too many pages to try and find the answer to this, so I am sorry if it's already been asked:Twitter appears to be good to go, and we're prepared to send out codes promptly at 10:30AM PDT.
I currently have my tweets protected, will this stop me from getting a code if I try and play? -
Quote:I have both.. and it was a great way to figure out what the names of the SO's meant and what they did... trying to buy them based on color without having to it the info button every time was a waste of a LOT of INF. After 7 years, I STILL can't remember them. The only ones I know by color are Green, Red, Yellow, Purple, Black, Light Blue and Dark Blue. Sometimes I know them by picture and color... but still....the book one and the binder. for what its worth, it was nice having the backgrounds of enemies right there, and, the glowing write up they gave martial arts was one reason i decided to give the game a go(though in retrospect they did oversell it a bit, but it got better), so it got coh at least one long timer.

Quote:They can just update the Prima Guide.Issue 24 secret codename is "Issue Fix All The Things"
Synapse: So instead of posting patch notes for I24 we're going to ship you a book.
(Am I the only one who still has one? Am I the only one who knows what I am talking about?) -
If I24 is 'fix everything', I hope they add Mayhems/Safeguards to Oro...

Quote:Also, each attach only has a chance to give focus. Iirc, longer recharge powers have a higher chance. So slash slash slash A.S. doesn't always work.
THAT'S the piece of information I was missing. That's why I wasn't getting the orange ring after every 3 attacks.
Thanks. -
Quote:okay... I remember reading about that.. I thought that's why I was getting the orange ring, but it doesn't stay there. It seems if I don't use it as soon as it appears, the next power will kill the orange ring and it doesn't come back. If I don't use it and I go down to no stacks, when I come back up to 3 stacks, I don't get the orange ring again. I'm thinking I have to go into hide and come out of hide before it comes back. There's a buff called Assassin's Focus on your buff bar. Each stack grants your AS attack 33% chance to crit out of hide. All stalkers have this. The orange ring appears when you have 3 stacks, indicating a 100% chance to crit.
I'll do some more play testing tonight and see if I can discover a pattern. -
I just picked up the assassin strike power. As I am playing, I noticed that the icon gets a ready ring around it every now and then and I can't figure out the pattern.
At first I thought it was when I get body mastery up to 3, but the ring will go away and I haven't used the power or lost a mastery level. When it goes away and I do get mastery up to 3 again, the ring doesn't come back.. and I haven't used assassin strike between the two times I was at level 3.
A) Is there supposed to be a ready ring?
B) If there is, is it bugged?
Thanks. -
That's Shadow Hunter? Hmmm.. never looked like that when I encountered him
Okay.. now I am confused.. I thought the COH comic book was dead.. I guess this is what I get for not reading every single post in this thread. -
I don't like this new screen. It's not that it's not a beautiful picture, because it is.. it's extremely well done.. but I don't like it as the opening splash screen at all.
The game is not about Penny or the bear creature thing. I would rather have a shot of several Freedom Phalanx characters and/or several Arachnos characters. If splash screens are going to change every issue, then I have no problem with this new one for an issue.. but if it's going to be the new forever screen, I hate it. -
I found the only ones I had to board the train for were NPC's that don't have a permanent place in the world. i.e. Desdemona and Dr. Eon.
