I like this one. 4 out of 5 bacons. I came from the i15 forums recently and after reading the OP I feel a little less like tearing my eyeballs out and feeding them to my grandmother in a satanic ritual to bring the Ultimate Evil to this world in order to utterly destroy it.

    Funny AFK

The night before I had been playing my beloved CoH and enjoying a few brews. Maybe more than a few. We had cats at the time who of course enjoyed frolicking next to the monitor and all over my keyboard. So, one of my empties was knocked onto the floor behind the desk and shattered. Well, got that cleaned up without too many problems.

During my next session I had recently hopped out of the shower and happened to be barefoot. About an hour into a task force I faceplant and squirm in irritation, sliding one of my feet along the floor. Something stings a bit but I shrug it off, could be anything down there... A few minutes later I notice that the floor feels wet and when I glance down and see the blood smeared around and mixing with old cat hair I decide that it might be a good idea to give the place a good cleaning.

I think I said something like: "Foot cut on broken bottle, quick afk for bandaging"
  6. I'd be thrilled if it just stopped causing redraw. Nothing like being in the middle of a fight against 20 bloodthirsty Romans when suddenly I decide to put my sword away and dance around like Sugar Ray for a few seconds... Then pause and pull my katana back out with a flourish.
  7. How much better does the fighter have to be at melee than the ranger? If, like you said, he's going to slaughter the ranger in melee combat it means that he's substantially better. So melee enemies have to exist at the fighter's challenge level. How do you give the ranger a chance in melee against enemies who can pose a threat to a fighter while keeping the ranger's melee abilities substantially below the fighters?

If you are on a team and things are not working the way you want them to, you need to either adjust your playstyle or find a new team. Insisting that people change the way they play so that you can do things your way isn't going to work.

You're way isn't necessarily the most efficient. Even if it was, many people just don't care about efficiency beyond a certain point.

Display some adaptability, or make your own teams where you can be The Boss. Some people like that kind of thing, I guess.
  9. It's not that DoT's are worthless against those foes. It's that there is usually a better dps chain you can use to take them down that also uses endurance more efficiently.

Rains also tend to cause enemies to flee, and that's usually the last thing you want when you're working on a hard target.

If you don't care about the enemy running or have it locked down somehow and you don't have a better dps chain to use or have a gap... and if you have the end to spare... The rains work just fine. You can even think of the DoT as a -regen if you want.

Some people with immobs still use burn like this pretty effectively, and ignite from AR was recently adjusted because it was too potent. I think the rains cost a little too much to use against single targets though.

I only want one thing from the new boards. Everything else is fluff.

When I click on a thread topic... I want to be taken to the first post in that thread. Not tossed somewhere seemingly random and forced to scroll up to find the OP.

That's it. Too much to ask?

    Oh and a pony.

Um, you can do that here. You see those little page numbers that appear below a thread topic? Yeah, if you click the little 1, guess what happens? You get the first page of the thread.

Why software companies have to make software to do the most common sense things for people just boggles my mind. Use a little logic.

The only thing that really lacks on this board system is the Search function, as stated above.

Like some others said, this doesn't work for threads that only have one page. I also have the forums set to display 50 posts a page which rather exacerbates my little peeve. And yeah, I know that's on me.

Thanks for the snark though, much appreciated!

It's just a small thing that bothers me. An annoyance. Of course there are ways around it. There are ways around the construction that they started on my route to work. There are ways I could prevent a sleep deprived bacon from tripping over his shoes because he left them in the middle of the floor.

Most of the time on multiple page threads I do click the little number one. Sometimes in my excitement to peruse the always eloquent musings of my fellow forumites I forget, and just click the delicious shiny title. Because, and here comes my confession... I'm fallible. Yes, one of those rare people who sometimes make mistakes and then has that human audacity t... Arg, there I go with my words again. Never mind.

    To further down thread:
Also, I said "seemingly random" not just "random." Nyah!

  12. Aggro caps at 17... which is what, one group on a big team? Less? I guess if you're on a smaller team herding a bunch of small groups with some outside your toggle radii... but that seems like too much of an outlier to plan for.

  15. Overall it looks fun. I like to tweak things to death though, so here it is.

Here's what I would tell myself if I asked me about it:

If you're going to take your snipe and nuke, then slot them. You need that damage maxed out on each if you want to use them. If you aren't going to slot them up, then I'd consider swapping one or both out for something else...

Health is over slotted. You aren't going to get much from regeneration unless you can get A LOT, which you can't. The small amount you get from three slotting health just isn't going to make a difference. Leave it with just the numina and drop a miracle in there too when you can get it.

Shadow fall needs full +damres enhancement. That psionic/status res isn't doing jack for you. The 3% psionic res isn't going to make a difference by itself. Neither will the status resistance - if only it was status protection instead. Same thing goes for Dark Embrace: You want the full value of 3 +damres in there. These two powers fully slotted give you some real survivability combined with your -tohit debuffs. Also, shadow fall is the perfect spot for a karma -knockback, which are relatively cheap right now. (I've been buying them for 1.5 million)

Find a way to fit hasten. That one power will still increase your offense more than anything else.

    Consider Soul Drain.

I generally don't like the leadership pool on Offenders. I'd rather be using that endurance to blast and debuff. If you can blast and debuff like crazy while running those toggles then that's awesome too.

If you want to "min-max" a bit...
Take a look at the bonuses you can get from sets. Pick a couple and focus on getting them as high as possible while staying with what you want for powers. It's generally better to be a specialist when it comes to set bonuses. A bunch of small bonuses really isn't going to make as much of a difference as a few high bonuses... If you pick the right ones. I'd look at ranged defense, recharge, and AoE defense.

Welcome to the World of Mids! You'll never be the same.

I don't team for bigger spawns and more difficult enemies. I team because I like playing with people. When I feel like soloing, it isn't because I want smaller spawns and easier enemies. I solo when I don't feel like playing with other people.

My preference for spawn size and enemy difficulty is not related to my preference for teaming or soloing. Making the difficulty slider more flexible isn't going to affect my teaming habits at all, but it will make the time I spend solo more enjoyable. I doubt I'm the only one who thinks this way.

What I'd like to see next is the ability for a team of a given size ( or a soloist) to spawn groups smaller than what they might get on heroic, but of a much higher level and or rank.
  17. I love you just for the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern reference, the rest is delicous gravy.
  18. If anything I'd say it's dwarf that's becoming obsolete... on teams. If you team more than solo chances are your resists in human with the shields are going to be pretty high if not capped. So all dwarf gives you is higher hp and mez protection with comparatively poor attacks, while nova has become even better with the recent changes to the inherent: Depending on team makeup you're probably more survivable and carrying an even deadlier load of aerial death.

Solo though? I'd rather play as a fully slotted human/dwarf.

I haven't done the math but human feels like it has far better single target burst (which I prefer for soloing) than nova. Once dwarf is fully slotted it works as a great backup form for when things go south and the old double footstomp/form switcheroo never gets old.
  19. Sounds interesting and I can sort of picture it. But I'm drinking and not sure... Can you post a screenshot?
  20. Thanks. I've been wondering about the particulars for a while now, appreciate it!
  21. Aha, thanks Justaris.

As for instantaneous build switching... yeah that would be "interesting."
  22. qr

Ok, set bonuses carry over. But what about things like the +regen/recovery uniques and the Chance for +end? If those enhancements are slotted in health and stamina respectively would the bonuses carry over to dwarf and nova forms?
