Fun Suggestion for Super Reflexes

When you use Practiced Brawler, it looks like your character is dodging something, or tensing up, ya know? I was just thinking that it would be cool to be used as a "counter", or at least, once you use the power, at any time, it gives you some extra defense to all for 10 or so seconds, something like that.

Having it act as a Break Free is the best suggestion for PB I've heard.

One of the neatest things in this game is when you defeat someone, and then PB refreshes so you look like you're showing off for your victory. I love when that happens. That little "elbow pullback" is one of the coolest animations in the game.

Boy do I love SR!

I would be a VERY big fan of making PB act like a breakfree. Before the PvE mezz changes, PB had a bit of an edge over the other mez powers, in that if you DID get mezzed by something through your protection (I'm looking at you tsoo green ink men), it didn't turn off your protection like it did the toggle ones. Now that they changed it so toggles don't turn off when you're mezzed, it kinda falls behind again. Making it work like a breakfree would help it catch back up again.

Wait... /SRs can be mezzed?

I'm only half kidding. Given how easy it is to make PB perma (two level 25 or 30 recharge IOs and set it on auto) The only use I've had for break frees in the last 40 levels is to get back into the fight fast after a rez. As far as I recall my /SR has been mezzed once since level 10, and that was by a +5 Operations Officer I bumped into in Peregrine Island.

That's actually a good idea, I like it!

Break Free effect on Practiced Brawler? Not a fan of it but I'm not opposed to it.

+Defense added to Practiced Brawler? No. It's already easy to cap SR with 2 IOs, Weave, and CJ for good measure.

It wouldn't even be so much adding an effect to PB as merely allowing it to be used while mezzed. (Active Defense too while we're at it.)

Though I also like the short duration buff idea for thematic reasons. Like the new Moment of Glory.

[/ QUOTE ]/SR doesn't need that buff, it already has a Tier 9.

I once griped about IOs turning Elude into a meaningless power by allowing us to permanently ride the softcap. However, it's not meaningless against DE and those damned tohit buff drops they use.

But I don't run into DE very much at 50. I dropped elude for conserve power. Better end buff, no crash. Superior choice for me.

Were elude turned into a clone of the current MoG, I'd take it in a heartbeat. Not that it will happen, but I'd dig it.

Be well, people of CoH.

I like the idea of making it work like a break-free. That might make click mez protection worth it again.

What I'd really like to see is, for sets with specific mez protection powers, the melee secondaries and tanker primaries, that there be two such powers that lock each other out. One that's a click and one that's a toggle.

Personally, I really dislike click mez protection powers. I get that there are some situations where they are superior, but it's not worth it to me in general.

It's the main reason why my /Nin stalker, who I otherwise love, doesn't get as much play. Let me choose a version of Indomitable Will, for example, instead of Kuju in Ren (or however you spell that, too lazy to look it up right now) and I'm a happy little ninja.

I'd be thrilled if it just stopped causing redraw. Nothing like being in the middle of a fight against 20 bloodthirsty Romans when suddenly I decide to put my sword away and dance around like Sugar Ray for a few seconds... Then pause and pull my katana back out with a flourish.

Hey, the only thing better than beating your enemies is beating them with style!

I totally agree with all that.

This last week my Mace/SR Brute hit L50, my Elec/Nin Stalker got to L46, and I recently started a Shield/SS Tanker (at L10). All of my previous characters with mez protection had a reliable toggle that was always on, but these 3 have clicky mez protection... and I absolutely hate it:

- it uses up time during my attack chain to activate (very annoying during Build Up), and wastes even more time if your other powerset is weapon-based as it forces redraw

- I usually queue-up my attack powers in combat (can be helpful when it's laggy), so I either have to monitor the clicky mez prot buff to leave room for it to renew, or it forces its way into my attack chain, or it gets delayed and the buff expires so I get mezzed

- when Global Recharge gets heavily debuffed (double-boss spawns of Fortunata Mistresses... uggh) the protection period often expires before the power recharges, which can leave me mezzed

- it "uses up" my Ctrl+Click auto-power, so if I have another clicky self buff like Hasten and/or want to use an attack on auto (e.g. like Boxing as a fury-building "filler" on a brute) I have to either manually monitor it or keybind auto-power switching to my movement keys (this really puts me off playing a BS/Shield scrapper as I had planned, as I wanted to have Parry and/or Hasten on auto)

- it usually takes up an extra slot in a build over what a mez protection toggle does (I tend to slot clicky mez prot with 2 Rchg IOs, and purely mez prot toggles with EndRdx in the base slot)

The only real advantage I have ever heard of for click mez protection (over a toggle) is that it can be stacked if you have lots of +rchg - supposedly it used to be handy for PvP (is that even still desirable with mez resist instead of mez prot in PvP?), but it's totally unnecessary for most/all PvE.

I'd love to see all clicky mez protection powers turned into toggles, because then I would certainly play /SR, /Shield and especially /Nin again. As it is now... I'm not so keen (I'm even thinking of dumping Shield/ for Invul/ or Ice/ on the Tanker).

The problem with toggles is that they drop when you run out of End. My /SR spent a lot of 40-50 fighting Malta and if Practised Brawler had been a toggle then one unlucky hit from a Sapper followed up by an Ops stun grenade would have been fatal every single time.

As it is, even if a sapper hit just as PB was about to recharge, with a recharge time of 1.53 there was still a 7 second window for me to pop a blue insp before I lost my mez protection.

It always looks great when it happens on Honey-Bree, my MA/SR Scrapper. That is because it usually happens when I finish off a foe with Eagle's Claw and PB reactivates the moment she lands back on her feet.
