It's been said before but it helps if you can accept kinetics as a secondary. Nobody forces you to speedboost everyone but it really doesn't take that long. I try to keep everyone on the team speed boosted, yet I'll always make sure I open up with my primary. That said, being a kinetic keeps you busy, which is the best part of the set (imho).

It's swings and roundabouts - though it would be nice
to replace frozen aura (which has to be one of the worst tier 9 powers) with a greater ice sword or an ice sword circle or something.

Now that, I would love to see... -
I personally also run a Inv/Em tanker and I've never bothered with though and weave (lvl 35 so far). Instead I picked up all passives except resist elements. I'll probably give the fighting pool route someday on test and see if it suits me. I can see the benefits from weave but I can do fine without.
Oh and pick up air sup. instead of hover and drop energy punch. -

I've been playing a lowbie Fire/SS lately and the more I think about it and juggle the power selections in the builder, the more I feel like I'm going for it in a backwards way. I'm building a tanky tank, and it seems to me that Fiery Aura just isn't intended to be a tanky tank. By padding the glaring defensive holes I'm sacrificing offence, and offence is the only thing Fire tankers have going for them apart from pretty graphics. I think the Dev ideal of Fire tankers is a scranker that will do moderate damage and hold more than his share of aggro, but isn't able to handle aggro cap size spawns without heavy support. The idea seems to fit straight in with the Statesman school of tanking.
Making a sturdy Fire tanker that still has good damage is really hard. Blazing Aura just doesn't feel that effective as a taunt aura. I would be tempted to slot it with a taunt enhancement or two but the problem is it also needs accuracy (because there's no autohit portion), damage (because otherwise there's no point to being a Fire tanker) and endurance reduction (because it's really end heavy). Basically, it should be 9-slotted. Fitting in Fighting pool to help with those subpar defences , Stamina to run all those toggles and Taunt to cover for the inefficiency of Blazing Aura, that leaves very little room for Fiery Embrace, Burn and attacks from the secondary. You know, that stuff the set is supposedly balanced for.
[/ QUOTE ]
That sounds about right to me. The real question is, will people (both the tank and the team) be able to accept this role?
[ QUOTE ]
Playing a devil's advocate, what if one built a Fire tanker primarily for offence? Would a fire tanker with no Fighting or Medicine pools, Blazing Aura slotted primarily for damage, Burn to be used whenever there's immob/knockdown/slow power around and a good assortment of well slotted secondary attacks be actually better at pulling its weight in a large team, if we forget for a second the perceived role of a tanker? This hypothetical "tanker" would concentrate on a subgroup of enemies, using Taunt only sparingly, when really needed. It would not herd, as it could not survive herding. Could the damage ever be enough to offset the lack of effective large scale aggro management?
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, this will only work if the rest of the team is happy with the tank playing a caring scrapper. In this case it's not important if Statesman thinks this is the role of a tank because tanks could do so much more. And some other tanker sets can arguably still do/take more then a fire tank. So why settle on a scranker when theres an 'real' tanker also looking for a team? Why a scranker if theres a scrapper available aswell? Tbh the fire tanker falls inbetween both ATs, which isn't a big problem but can make levelling one fairly frustrating. -

Loved it till the mid 30's then switched to Choking Cloud instead. Still use it but with Fireball and Fireblast I find I just don't need it as much as I used to.

You've been talking to Chillblaze/Pyrus too much Ma'aT
*points to Archy's post about Hot Feet's damage*
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't that depend on how long the fight lasts?
To Scytha,
I picked up Hot Feet when Pyrus was lvl 12(ish). This was back in I3 and it left quite a permanent, and very negative, feel to the power. I respecced out of it as soon as I could.
Currently I don't need HF (Although Okton says otherwise) at lvl 50. fire ball, blast and fire imps do plenty of damage for me (assisted by kinetics ofcourse).
Now it could be quite a useful power with containment but keep in mind that it's a dangerous power to use (for both a dom and a troller) and in your case, it might take up endurance you needed for your fiery assault attacks... -

Weak points: no snipe. Attacks are shorter range than other power sets. Bitter freeze ray has a painfully long animation (not interruptible luckily). Damage is a little bit lower than other power lines. Frost Breath is a power that probably must be taken in any case and I don't find it so useful; alternatives to FB are the two melee powers (frozen fists / ice sword) I didn't choose and never tried them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Missing a snipe isn't exactly painful for a blapper and Ice/Ice offers 3 holds in total in return. While we're at range, bitter ice blast (your biggest single terget) is the strongest of all blasters single target attacks (exepts snipes) and it's range is bigger then it's strongest opponent blaze. Frozen fists is indeed alittle lackluster but ice sword is a exellent power, which has comparable damage to ice blast. Ice patch, shiver and CE are indeed very useful and almost mandatory for a blaptroller.
[ QUOTE ]
Most people say an ice/ice is an incomplete controller... well could be. And this is not necessarily a bad point for a blaster. If you don't mind playing more on the tactic instead of the shooting side.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would advice not to look at this combo as a incomplete controller. As an ice blaster you have the highest single target damage of all blasters. You lack power in the AoE compartment, which is arguably more useful in teams. -

Wooooot! Got 3 extra slots on Union! What lovely blasters should I roll now?

Ice/Ice !
You know you want to.... -
When I saw 19 new posts in this thread I was kinda hoping to find atleast 1 funny anecdote, odd innit?

I'm with Hammerfall and the Cap'n on this one. I have no experience with ninja blade but I can say that my claw/sr (lvl 23) is alot of fun. If you want burst damage, rely on AS. Focus is a good second. Hidden, Buildup + Focus = One shot on a +1 minion. Eviscerate has slightly higher damage then focus but doesn't garantuee a crit from hide since it's a cone. Looks very stylish btw.
I also rebuild my Claw/Sr in the test server RV event. Only hide to ...well hide me and I did fine. Got plenty of kills in and had lots of scraps with scrappers (of which I won half). It appeared having a good ranged attack is what really makes a difference in the 'to be seen or not to be seen' discussion. As long as I could attack first (from a distance) I'd be fine.

Great work Scarlet, as said before, you make it look easy .

For PvE Regeneration sounds pretty good. Also, Dark armour has some nice ways to 'scrap' it out with your enemies (fairly end heavy tho).
Ninja blade for stalker scrapping thanks to divine avalanche. You won't get any heavy hitters (excluding AS) untill lvl 26 but those attacks a worth the wait .
Go claw/EA if you want to avoid endurance problems. Cheap attacks (end wise) and 2 end modification powers in your secondary. Should be pretty fun in PvP to.
A En/Regen should work for both PvE and PvP to tho. Just remember that your attacks a fairly end heavy and with regen (without dull pain or MoG on) you are fairly vunerable to burst damage. -
Very cool, keep em comin

I love these sketches, of the both of you .

fire/kin = MEGA fun?
[/ QUOTE ] Yup, any other questions?
Ohh and don't take hot feet, or atleast respec it out once you get to fireball...
[/ QUOTE ] n00b, get them both and 'arrest' mobs even faster...
[/ QUOTE ] I've said it before and I'll say it again: That man, ladies and gentlemen, speaks the truth
[/ QUOTE ]
Somehow I doubt that.
As you can see Healer, the opinions differ somewhat on Hot Feet. I'm more of a I4 controller (not a word from you Otkon, not a word) and I can see I don't need it after fire ball. Some think they still do, ymmw

Absolutly amazing
, 5 stars to you my friend, if you could give them. Loved it, especially Statesman's Zeus lighting powers.
Keep up the great work. -
I like it, very good first video
.
The amount of action is alittle low and abit more sync with the music would be nice but still, I like it.
p.s You probably already seen these but at http://maximilia.net/ are some great videos. Especially 'Thank you' is a great example of demoediting.
