Honestly, the only thing that bothers me about this (and I've said it before in other threads) is that I'm currently unemployed and don't have a lot of disposable income. I'm okay with the model itself, as I've done collectible cards in the past--I used to be big into the Marvel cards back in the 90s.
But if they're going to treat Super Packs like collectible card packs, then that means the rewards need to be tradeable. It's been mentioned that most of the rewards will probably be able to be sold at the auction house, but I'm not sure that's the right way to go. Make them actual in-game cards that you have to redeem for your rewards, and make the cards tradeable only for other cards--no gifting cards to another account that didn't buy any. Set up a Super Pack section on the forums where we can announce the cards we have for trade and what we're looking for. (Once claimed, things like IOs would still be salable on the market, but the cards themselves would not be.)
And as in real life, cards would need to be tradeable in different quantities... say you got a costume piece you don't want, but really want an ATIO card, and a friend of yours has the ATIO card and knows that your costume card isn't quite valuable enough on its own, so you trade the costume card and a couple enhancement booster cards to get it.
Additionally, when awarding a costume piece, PLEASE make sure that we never get duplicates of something that's already been claimed on the account, and NEVER make any of the Super Pack costumes "per character"--costumes purchased for real money should ALWAYS be account bound.
If the system worked similarly to what I described above and I had the money, I'd probably pick up around 5 Super Packs per week at the proposed $2 cost until I collected everything I wanted. -
Nope.
They specifically said back prior to Freedom's launch that they will NOT be doing a name purge, because they want to make sure that anyone who does come back can immediately jump back in on their existing characters. -
The devs will be on Thanksgiving break for half of next week. They're not going to release something as large as a power set that could potentially have huge issues right before vacation. There are also still more changes to be made and tested on beta prior to the set's release.
Also, because of the holiday and all, this coming Tuesday will almost certainly be the Pilgrim Hat. -
Quote:10 Shards = 10 Threads (once per day)I maybe wrong but I thinks it's 10 Shards = 1 Thread or is it 10 Shards = 5 threads. That may make your equation different.
10 Shards + 1M inf = 5 Threads (as many times as you've got Shards)

They also announced today at the Player Summit that there WILL be solo-friendly Incarnate content coming in Issue 22. -
Just FYI: it only counts for badge credit if you're in SG mode.

Quote:They could still let the consumables duplicate, as they'd still be useful even if you got them more than once.Quote:If you buy a pack of baseball cards, and you get ones you don't want, you can trade them with someone else for the ones you want.
Also, if some of the rewards are consumables, not sure how preventing duplicates would work.
After all, one could presumably want multiple AT IOs from the same set. I've got a few Scrappers kicking around who would enjoy a nice boost to critical hit ratio.
If each pack guaranteed 1 AT IO, 1 exclusive costume piece, and 3 random items (that could be either consumeables, costume pieces you don't already own or random IOs) and sold for a dollar? I'd see that being a pretty good deal. -
Quote:It's effectively the same thing as buying a pack of baseball cards. If there's a system in place to prevent duplicates, then I don't see it as being an awful idea.Randomization of available items on the Paragon Market is such a jaw-droppingly bad idea I'm still trying to comprehend how the devs thought it would be acceptable to the playerbase. I'll post later about the psychology behind the lottery syndrome and the problems it presents in gaming.

Von Krieger's got a thread with a transcript and some still shots, and other people have posted a couple pics to it...

There was a bug with this pack in the beta where they couldn't get it to charge 400 points--it would charge you less than full price, but not the listed price they were going for.
They (I want to say Zwillinger or maybe Black Pebble) made an official comment a few weeks ago that this is still bugged, that they are planning to fix it, and that they'd make an official announcement when it makes it to the live store. -

It is a little known secret that electricity golems like Deathsurge can't resist strawberry jam. Spread a few gallons on the ground and they'll come running!
If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities. I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest. -
I was going to comment that US$6.25 for a non-combat pet is too high... but (while I definitely still think it's too much) I realized I would have paid that much without a second thought if the pet had been a Corgi instead of a German Shepherd.
Well played, evil marketing department.

Quote:I'm basically saving my points for a sale on storage myself. I'm not even picking up Titan Weapons at launch unless it's discounted like Beam Rifle was...I'll be saving my points, hoping something good comes out next week. Like Titan Weapons. Or a good sale. Like 50% off Extra Enhancement Trays.
Do keep in mind that next Friday is "Black Friday," and the following Monday is "Cyber Monday," the busiest retail and online shopping days of the year respectively. I think we can look forward to some nice Paragon Market sales surrounding the two. -
Sorry for the delay. My contract job lasted a little longer than they'd anticipated (yay, mo' money fo' me!), but I'm home now. Will update the OP with this week's addition to the store:
The German Shepherd Vanity Pet, for 500 PP.
There are no sales this week.
!!!REMINDER!!!
The Halloween costume parts (and bundle) are being removed from the store on Friday at midnight. If you want them, don't try to wait out the clock for them; get them ASAP!
EDIT: OP updated. Small store updates mean quick post updates, at least.
(And yes, if any one is curious, the dog in the post above is mine, and he is wearing a Scribblenauts hat.)

Just checked and the new stuff has not been added to the market yet (it's about 10:30 PM PST on Monday as I write this). I have a contract job tomorrow morning, so I won't be able to update the list until tomorrow afternoon. I apologize for the delay, but please take solace in the knowledge that my bills are getting paid, which enables me to access and keep this list updated in the first place.
On a side note, I did notice that the Carnie NPC transformation now has an icon, and I did update the graphic on the OP.
And judging from a Zwillinger post from earlier this afternoon, I think we can expect the German Shepherd vanity pet to be the new item this week, or at least part of it.
(Personally, I'm holding out for them to make a Corgi vanity pet. >_>)

Of course, "Occupy Paragon" jokes were already made... ah well, maybe I'll have something good to say next week.

If you're planning on going back to Premium (and that's what it sounds like from your post), Time Manipulation is on sale for 400 PP this week.
I'm a huge fan of Street Justice, as ShadowMoka pointed out.
But if you want Kinetic Melee, try to find a box copy of Going Rogue: Complete Collection... that'll get you Kinetic Melee, Electric Control, Demon Summoning and Dual Pistols, PLUS the Alignment System, the ability to start as a Praetorian, a ton of new costume options -AND- a month of VIP time. (Just make sure to use the code from the box to upgrade your account, rather than creating a new one.)
By the way... that link I posted to Amazon? Going Rogue: Complete Collection is selling for $10.99. -
Alright, it's Tuesday, so that means new stuffs in the market!
We've got three new rare melee damage recipe sets (Pulverizing Fisticuffs [10-25], Touch of Death [25-40], and Mako's Bite [30-50]), the Autumn Path Aura, and Episode 3 of the "Who Will Die?" Signature Storyarc, plus a few sales this time... Time Manipulation is 50% off, as are the new recipes that were introduced this morning.
EDIT: OP has been edited to reflect all the new additions. -
The comic shop also has a City of Villains poster hanging up, and I think I've seen a pic with another character in the comic shop wearing the Statesman's star shirt while playing a card game.
I don't enjoy the show, personally. Hits too close to home. Case in point: I had someone tell me last week that I reminded them of "Leonard" from the show, whichever one of the nerds that might be. >_> -
And tomorrow's additions have been listed by Zwillinger: 3 more melee IO sets, a new path aura and a sale on Time Manipulation.

I know what you mean. Touch of Death and Mako's Bite are both highly sought-after for min/max builds due to the defense bonuses they offer.
It's still not striking me as "pay to win," as I'm sure SOMEONE will say before the end of the week, but it's definitely shifting the current balance between those players with spare cash and those with spare time. -

I'd guess next week or the week after for Titan Weapons. (Then again, Street Justice showed up a week earlier than I'd predicted, so who knows?)
There are also apparently a couple costume items on the way. I know from a recent issue of PC Gaming magazine that there's a pretty cool cowboy-themed Gunslinger costume set on the way, and I've seen other people comment about a different costume set that was apparently leaked but has yet to be announced (I unfortunately do not know what costume set that may be).
