    New pistol Idea

Obligatory "Suggestions and Ideas forum is down further" message. (Since the obligatory "this thread has already been done" post was already taken care of.)

    Binding 2 Emotes

As an added tidbit, binds run right to left. So running that bind, you'll see your character clap and say "Gratz!" first, then give the thumbs up and say "Gratz!" the second time.

But as Master-Blade mentioned, you can't string together emotes in the same bind and expect them to work properly.
  4. Sorry KZ, not a clue. I just did a Google image search for "Sentai."

Here's the site that pic came from though. It's apparently from a J-Rock compendium with Romanized spellings of all the series, so if you dig enough you should be able to find what you want.

    New Mids

You can't use the internal updater to upgrade Mids'. You have to download and install the new version manually.

It can be found on www.cohtitan.com, or this direct link: http://www.cohplanner.com/download.php

Make sure you run it as an administrator if you're using Windows Vista or 7.
  6. Just what the title says: they should add a couple of costume change emotes to the Tech/Cyborg Super Booster pack.

I know the costume change emotes were first created in Super Booster II (the Magic pack), and admittedly I don't know how "final" these things are, beyond bug fixes, once they're released for the public to purchase. But judging from the excellent way Paragon Studios has been operating lately, I'm guessing the developers have been careful not to paint themselves into a corner with anything.

So without further ado, here are three ideas for simple(?) costume change emotes that could be retroactively added in to the Tech Super Booster:

    1) ccUpgrade: Using the Upgrage Robots animation from the Robotics Mastermind set, have the player character step back onto the platform and have the welding units spark up, masking the player's costume change.

    2) ccDropOff: Using the summoning animation for the Robotics Mastermind minions, have a metal container drop from the sky onto the player. It falls apart, revealing the player's costume change.

    3) ccSentai: The character brings his/her wrist up and pushes buttons with his/her other hand, nods, and then strikes a random sentai pose (see images below for suggestions). A moment later, there is a flash of light and the character's costume has changed, then character returns to ready stance.

    Sentai Pose Suggestions:

(Of course I had to put the Ginyuu Force in there... )

Note: I have already purchased the Cyborg Super Booster and have no regrets about doing so. This idea behind this post is to give those who have purchased it already or are planning to purchase it in the near future some added value, as well as to tip the scales more for people who are on the fence about purchasing it now, and also to bring parity in the type of options that the other Super Booster packs have.
  7. This is the reason I bank most of my rare salvage in the vault. If I need a piece I don't have, I'll offer an SG member or other friend an even trade for one of the pieces I do have.

Failing that, I'll take whatever I have the most of, sell one in the market and use the money generated to buy what I need.

    Computer Upgrade

*whistles* Wow, I'm a little surprised that thing still runs CoH even with the shineys turned off.

I did a quick Google search to find the specs, and judging from those I'd say that computer model came out a good 8+ years ago. In the last 4-5 years, there has been a lot of switching of standards (AGP video cards were forsaken in favor of PCIexpress, SD RAM gave way to DDR, then DDR2 and now DDR3 is the standard...).

Long story short, just like Call Me Awesome said above, there's pretty much nothing you can do to upgrade that system in this day and age simply because the parts it would use are all long out of production. Even if you find the necessary components, your system has a maximum RAM cap of 1GB (note that CMA recommended 4GB above), meaning that at its absolute best, it's going to lag behind a modern computer.

It would almost certainly be a better use of time and money to buy or build a new PC; even if you're not looking for a serious gaming rig, far better computers than the one you're using now can be had refurbished for under $400. If you try to upgrade your current computer, the only difference you'll really notice is that your wallet is lighter.
  10. Here's how I move my CoH installation to a new PC:

    1) Copy the entire CoH directory to the new system and rename it as "CoH_copy" or something of the like.
    2) Run CoHUpdater.exe out of the CoH_copy directory.
    3) Give it an install location (default C:\Program Files\City of Heroes). This adds the necessary CoH information to your computer's registry.
    4) When it starts to download, hit cancel.
    5) Delete the "City of Heroes" directory that it was installing to.
    6) Move your CoH_copy directory to that same location and rename it "City of Heroes" and you should be good to go.

That's how I moved the game from my Win XP installation to Win 7 64-bit.

How long is something in CB?
Usually, longer than we'd like but not as long as it ought to be. Not trying to troll, just an honest opinion from someone who works in the software industry.

(Issue 14 in particular, with the Mission Architect addition, really should have been in closed beta for like an extra month, with intense focus on filtering out exploits.)
  12. I assume you're trying to use Print Screen to snag an image in the character creator or the character select menu?

I just hit the Windows key to bring up the Start Menu, THEN hit Print Screen. You can crop out the Start Menu from the left side of the screen afterwards--all the interesting stuff in on the right side of the screen anyway.

    Respec

No, this is not possible. You can change any of the powers you chose when you respec, but you have to keep the same primary and secondary powersets.

  17. It depends on what the character's purpose is.

If it's primarily for buffing/debuffing, I'll usually buy some common End Redux IOs at level 20 or so (and maybe some Accuracy IOs if ToHit checks are required, as with Transfusion), and then slot whatever good drops come my way. I'll generally ignore broader enhancements until I get to around 40. (Last night, I noticed I was having endurance issues on my DP/Rad Corruptor, so I logged in to my main villain who needs to work on crafting anyway and made a bunch of low level End Redux IOs. I went a bit nuts with slotting them, but now I never need to rest after long fights anymore... He's 21 now, and will probably keep that slotting for another 16 levels at least.)

If the character is intended to output damage, then I generally buy Accuracy, Damage and Recharge SOs on the cheap out of the market or by trading Merits/Architect Tickets for them every 5 levels. I don't dip into the SG's stash of crafted IOs if I can avoid it, as I hate throwing away group property and don't want to waste respecs to pull it all back out again. Once I get into the late levels, I'll do a bunch of level 50 SOs and/or common IOs in all my powers, then I'll start thinking about working with sets.

I definitely don't go forward with a plan to never use IOs, but many of my characters get shelved before they reach the stage where I'd start worrying about obtaining them. I do sometimes plan characters with the intent of never using IO sets and only using commons, but frankly, if you can handle the cost of crafting, there's no reason to use SOs over 40-50 common IOs.
  18. It's sad that this thread was actually required. But you wrote it well.

Be prepared to link it when somebody else comes along to complain that their loyalty badges/60 month vet status aren't letting them in to the closed beta.

One of the main points behind changing them up so they're unlocked at 20 is because players expect them to outperform all the other ATs based on the current requirement to unlock them. Then they get upset because the EATs not only don't outperform other ATs, but in the case of Kheldians, they actually have additional weaknesses that other ATs don't have to worry about. And then the EATs get very little developer attention, because they're so rarely played.

Lowering the requirements to unlock them will allow more people to play them, which will in turn warrant more developer attention (and maybe, finally get that annoying Crab-backpack-on-a-Bane bug fixed ). They'll never outperform other ATs, but new players won't expect them to any more because they're much easier to unlock.

That exact same problem has happened to me before on the live servers. If I remember correctly, I fixed the issue by moving CoHUpdater.exe to the desktop and running it from there. It then automatically put a corrected CoHUpdater.exe back in the install directory.

So I've been told. I just went on assuming that they didn't after the i16 beta and ran TFs and other regular content during 2xXP Weekends. *shrug*

Then again, I'm not personally fond of PLing (as is probably noticable from the fact that I'm a day 1 subscriber and only have 4 level 50s). I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, mind you; you can powerlevel all you want. I'd just rather do something other than kill the same 80 enemies over and over and over...

    ...unless there's a badge involved.

I think of all the badges, that was by far the most painful getting twice (once per side).
Yeah, that's what I did last 2xXP weekend with my Scrapper, and got about 300M in the four days I was able to play (I picked up the remaining 50M or so that I needed on Trick or Treat teams, as the Halloween event came almost immediately afterwards).

I think I'll wait until the next one to farm with my Stalker though, since I'll be able to "go rogue" and join some of my friends' hero farm teams. Plus, I'm really liking my new DP/Rad Corruptor, and would like to get a few levels on him...

Another good source of inf (towards badge credit), on a non-farming character, was running a daily ITF; I netted 5-8 million inf per run, most of which took about an hour. The drops and Reward Merits certainly didn't hurt, either.
  23. *scratches head* I swear I remember that in the i16 beta, Pohsyb set up a double XP weekend to make absolutely sure that AE missions didn't give bonus rewards...

Kindly link to where they said that those would apply to anything other than the Going Rogue beta?

And having Ultra Mode moved to Issue 17 doesn't mean you're entitled to test it as a GR beta tester. They told us right after HeroCon that they'd try to release Ultra Mode before Going Rogue if it were possible, and oh, lookie here, it's possible!
