I want to see this, but I'll wait until it comes out on iTunes. I don't think anything short of a Superman, Justice League, or Star Trek film could make me go to a movie theater again.
I really wish cell phone jammers were legal. -
Hey now! Back off, buster. Golden Girl is mine!
-
The hardest parts about the Incarnate trials is herding the cats before hand and during. The rest is trivial. Including Underground, TPN, and MoM.
-
Honestly, a 20% income bump (especially with some of that as a result of the increased KRW value), with all of the expenditures on Freedom (new server, advertising, artwork, etc.), isn't that good. Other MMOGs that have gone free-to-play have seen increases of over 500%. With cutthroat NCSoft at the helm, I'd be worried.
This certainly explains why the game has taken to gambling... -
Felecia Divine.
She routinely soloed Romulus four times in 15 seconds on her Dark / Dark. She deserves it! -
Quote:A lot of people had that false impression the moment that Exalted opened. People transferred over to Exalted, assuming that it would be full of nothing but highly experienced players. It was not the case. For it to be a healthy server, it should not be the case. It has a mixture, which is the right way to go, imo. Most of those that transferred over to Exalted expecting nothing but highly experienced players have since transferred back to their original servers. Before I get to my point, please understand I am not upset nor am I picking on anyone. I am just really surprised. I play on 6 servers, but recently moved all of my characters from Triumph to Exalted. I moved to find a larger population to play with.
What I find myself surprised by is the amount of players I have run into that seem to be very new to the game. Yesterday I was forming a Treespec (WST this week) and had probably 7 people ask to join, but then when I tried to invite they were heroes. I also had 5-6 tells that said something like, "What is that?" or "What is Treespec?".
Not the end of the world, but I really had the impression that Exalted would be the server with the more experienced players.
However, I have noticed during my brief times playing CoH over the past month that there are a lot more newbies. I don't know if it just seems like there are a lot more newbies lately because most of the more experienced players I used to play with have left the game over the past couple of months, or if there is a genuine influx of new players. Regardless, there have been a lot of people showing up for the past few Hamidon raids that I have never seen before, and have never done a Hamidon raid before... mostly with Fiery Aura Brutes and Tankers with only 4 points of knockback protection and no taunt... but I digress. -
Quote:Like Cherry said, most people are currently in a galaxy far, far away, and I don't see any indication of them returning anytime soon.I moved from Triumph to Exalted recently. So far, I have been surprised at how dead it is. I expected a little more population. Now, it is not nearly as bad as Triumph, but that has been my experience.
It's sad, but things that used to take 15 - 30 minutes to form are now taking well over a hour, and that's after a lot of advertising and a lot of coaxing with billion+ INF prizes. I haven't seen more than 3 people on at a time from my global friends list of over 60 players in a while either. That's why I canceled my weekly Rikti mothership raids after three years. -
Thanks to those that came out and supported my last Rikti mothership raid last night. It was a blast.
Yes, my last Rikti mothership raid. For now, at least. I've been running weekly Rikti mothership raids for nearly three years now, and I'm proud to have run them on Exalted since the server opened. However, it's become clearly obvious to me that the game's population just isn't there to support large raids like this any longer. It has been taking longer and longer to form raids over the years, to the point where the last few took over a hour just to get enough players to start, way past the official start time. :\
The game's population has been slowly dwindling over the years, and the recent release of a game in a galaxy far, far away has decimated what was left of the game's population.
Thanks for supporting Rikti mothership raids. May the Force be with you all. -
This is the one of the two main reasons why I jumped to the Exalted server the day it opened. Despite being the #3 server population wise, haven't had a single gold vendor there yet as far as I'm aware of. VIP server ftw.
-
I have Bug Hunter. I was given it for finding a live, and particularly game breaking, bug in Issue 17. I've only beta tested an issue once, and I'm pretty sure I'm not one of the devs' favorite people.
-
That's sad, but I have the feeling that my home server of Exalted will be joining you. We've been running weekly Hamidon raids almost since the server opened, but all but three of the experienced raid crew have already canceled their City of Heroes subscriptions for a galaxy far, far away. We tried to get our regularly scheduled Hamidon raid going last night, but only about 15 people showed up, and most of those were inexperienced meleers...
-
Sigh. Tonight will be the second time in three weeks that we'll have to clean up someone else's moldy Jello in the Hive.
If you want to run a Hamidon raid, that's all well and good. But please leave the Hive the way you found it. Thanks. -
Step 1. Destroy Praetoria - no one uses it now anyway.
Step 2. Destroy the Rogue Isles - no one uses it now anyway.
Step 3. Destroy the Shadow Shard - no one uses it anyway.
Step 4. Turn Independence Port into a level 20 - 25 zone.
Step 5. Turn Talos Island into a level 25 - 30 zone.
Get rid of the Hollows, Perez Park, Boomtown, Skyway City, Striga Isle, Terra Volta, Brickstown, and Crey's Folly.
Basically, that would leave Atlas Park, Kings' Row, Steel Canyon, Faultline, Independence Port, Talos Island, Croatoa, Founders' Falls, Eden, Peregrine Island, Cimerora, Ouroboros, the Rikti War Zone, the Hive, and Dark Astoria. I think this would be much more manageable. -

It's amusing though to see the mitos bounce them around like a damn ping pong ball.

I've never played a Tanker. However, I can say as someone that helps lead weekly Hamidon raids on the Exalted server, a.k.a. "the melee server," we're seeing a lot of Tankers without Taunt. We've had full teams of Tankers without taunt a couple of times. It just boggles my mind. I realize that this doesn't apply to the rest of the game, but, honestly, a Tanker without taunt in a Hamidon raid is useless.
Then there are all the Fiery Aura Tankers with either no knockback protection or only 4 points worth... -
I spent a week and a half sick at home earlier this month with a nasty upper respiratory infection. After being bed ridden for three days, I became bored. So I purchased the first season of Transformers Prime on iTunes, and began watching it. I really enjoyed it quite a bit more than I thought I would. It's really well done, imo.
Anyway, one of the major bad guys on the show is Silas.
It naturally made me think of Silas, and Champion. Evil must just run in the name. -
The best I ever encountered was a couple of months back. A guy began advertising for a BAF Trial in the RWZ. He managed to get a full league going. Then queued for a Keyes Trial. Keep in mind this was before the Keyes Trial was hit with the nerf bat. I LOLed so hard. I never saw a whole league disband so quickly.

I used to be an altholic, routinely making and playing different toons. Issue 20 changed all that. Now, I just play three toons. I really enjoy playing all three for different reasons, and the Incarnate system is just too much work to bother leveling up a new toon.
I actually wanted to make a new toon a month and a half ago, but I realized that by the time I got him up high enough to run Incarnate trials, there would be very few people around to run them with due to a certain game in a galaxy far, far away launching. It appears I was right. Exalted server, regularly the #3 server population wise, has been a veritable ghost town since that game's launch. I imagine it'll slowly get better after a couple of months, but for now... Yeah, glad I didn't bother. -
Quote:Yeah, I tried to resize the 1680x1050 wallpaper to 1600x900, but it didn't turn out so well. I hope they come out with 16:9 wallpapers soon.Love the art! Although I wish more of them had dark backgrounds... Interesting choices for screen resolutions. Aren't there a lot of people out there (like me) who have 1080p resolution monitors (1920x1080)? I couldn't get any of the images to fit perfectly. I'm using the 1920x1200 image centered. It looks really good, but part of it is cropped off, of course and part of the logo is obscured, well out of focus, because it's under my taskbar.

Quote:It can't be that much of a money pit. I currently subscribe to four MMOGs, including this one. Three of them offer authenticators. Two of them offer physical dongle authenticators. CoH is the only one that doesn't offer any kind of authenticator.Because it's an enormous money pit for something like an MMO. It gives you a false sense of security. And it's an enormous hassle. The physical fobs don't keep 100% perfect sync with the server. So when they fall out of sync, you can't sign on. This leads to massive customer service overhead. I've worked for companies with only a couple hundred of the things out there and it's a pain. Think about doing it for 10-100,000 people.
Quite simply, you couldn't pay me enough.
Not to mention that such devices are NOT inexpensive.
Dongles are not the way.
Physical authenticators aren't expensive... the most I've had to pay for one was $12, and that included shipping. -
-
Quote:How would an authenticator help keep the game's databases from being hacked?Quote:Why is there still no authenticator? Whether it be mobile or physical, (preferably physical?) While this wouldn't prevent a hacker from obtaining my information, it would at least prevent someone else from logging onto my account with the stolen information and would give a little peace of mind.

Quote:Uh... no... you're more than welcome on BAF Trials, Lambda Trials, and Keyes Trials. The problem comes in when unlevelshifted and those only +1 levelshifted try to join Underground Trials, TPN Trials, and MoM Trials. So, avoid those three for now until you're at least +2 levelshifted, but feel free to join BAF Trials, Lambda Trials, and Keyes Trials. Believe me, there are far more of those run than the other three, so it shouldn't be an issue.Well, after reading through this thread, I guess I now realize that I have totally missed the boat for Incarnates.
When Incarnate content first dropped, I had 4 level 50 characters. I took the two Blasters through to get their Alphas unlocked, and have done a few TFs & MS Raids to get stuff to craft boosts for them, but nothing higher than the second level (whatever that is called). My other level 50s don't even have their Alphas unlocked.
The overwhelming tone of some of the posters in this thread is that because I have not lived and breathed Incarnate raiding for the past few months, for me to try to start it now would be hurting THEIR gameplay in some way and just leeching on my part and rude and insensitive and just plain "wrong".
Thanks, guys, for letting me know that I'm not welcome!
p.s. - Yes, I know that DA revisions will make Incarnate content for soloers and those who prefer small teams.....
