  1. Another competition Australians can't enter (but I suppose all our stories are about beer and crocodiles anyway).
  2. I think the original post might have been more convincing if they'd argued purely from a lore perspective, rather than trying to work system elements (costume, powers) in there.
  3. "Don't be sorry," she came her amicable reply. She didn't jitter as some were prone to do when standing before the expert who would be judging the merit of their semester's work.

"I wondered if we'd be penalised for arguing against your case. Korda, in one of the readings, suggests that people like your subject grow addicted to the noteriety. I was planning on arguing-"

At the top of the theatre, the doors swung open. A lurching crowd of students began to pour down the stairs and into recently vacated seats.

Natalie perked a brow, as if retorting to some voice only she could hear.

"Next class. Perhaps another time, professor?"
  4. Natalie Fox was older than most of the class, a mature enrolement in the Marks' class. Normally the older women who partook in the class were housewives indulging secret fantasies of a dark secret their husbands and neighbours would be shocked to learn, or spinsters who had read too many bland crime thrillers that masqueraded as stories of female empowerment when they were anything but.

Nobody would accuse Fox of either. She was a void of antipathy. Her presence didn't linger long enough in the minds of her peers for them to conjure up more than vague and fleeting feelings towards her. Opinions were completely lacking.

Fox crept down the stairs towards Marks at the bottom of the hall, somehow weaving between students pushing towards the exit without so much as a nudge of the shoulder. Like an oil spill on eventide waters, it was impossible to keep an eye on her as she travelled. It she simply appeared where she wanted to be and to anyone watching, it simply. made. sense.

"Professor Marks," she said, "the lecture was insightful. I've always liked a more practical approach to this topic. I have a still have few questions though."

Have to agree, though I don't think it's the extra-lore elements of this character that have caused the issue.
  6. I'm pretty tired of the horseriding stance attack for Assassin's Eclipse (the Dark Melee Assassin's Strike).

All the rain attacks use the same animation, which providing an alternate (perhaps snatching out something out of the air) would be a good value-for-time investment.

Total Focus seems a bit "floaty" and doesn't appear to hit hard for an attack that does so much damage, so an alternate for that would suit me.

I'd like an animation for Carrion Creepers, where the character channels something into the ground that causes the creepers to rise up. Perhaps they could kneel and touch the floor.

The tentacles on Midnight Grasp don't look very scary at all, but I'm unsure if that's outside the scope of the thread.

An alternate animation for One Thousand Cuts would be nice. Maybe something more akin to Luke Skywalker wailing on Darth Vader than a sponsored epileptic fit.
  7. Blast Goggles, raised and lowered.
  8. I was under the impression this was an ornamental deck, not a tool for channeling our "psychic abilities". Maybe because the thought of a fortune-teller using a CoX deck is a bit, well... laughable.
  9. For Judgement, I'd recommend Malaise. The card is associated with absolution, redemption and accepting one's past mistakes. Under Sister Psyche's "guidance", Malaise is working off the karmic debt he incurred as a villain by fighting as a member of the Vindicators. Alternatively? Perhaps Scirocco.

The Chariot card is associated with bravery and conviction. A person represented by the Chariot card is typically concerned with victory, whatever the cost. They're the kind of person that once they've set their mind on something, they're difficult to dissuade. These characteristics make me think of Ms. Liberty, who is so determined to have victory over Arachnos, she went beyond most heroes to form an army, Longbow and her own supergroup, the Vindicators. Honestly, I have no idea why anyone would think the Rikti mothership fits this on anything other than a superficial level.

    Gauntlet 2.0

    [ QUOTE ]
Now, what does Gauntlet stands for? The name of our inherent was based off the classic dueling term “Throw down the gauntlet.”

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps someone has said this already, I've missed about three pages of the conversation but I thought the name of the power "gauntlet" referred to "running the gauntlet", namely having enemies on all side pummeling you.

This, as opposed to the glove.
  11. In Founder's Falls there is a Nautral Origin contact by the name of Agent Six , who apparently works for a branch of the CIA named "Omega Watch".

Who is this organisation? What do they do? What is their agenda? Any information would be appreciated.

Bonus Trivia Question: Who is the US President in CoX?
  12. I was teamed with the fantastic Hericane, who remade my character, Naomi "Eventide" Voss-Illsley into Naomi "The Fox" Hills, a transformation that I'm incredibly happy with, but is also a difficult act to follow.

We were given the theme of "ancient" to work with, which I really struggled with because I didn't want to put Hericane into a normal Roman/ Samurai/ Knight outfit and be done with it. Instead, I tried to allow her background to push me towards one theme or the other.

Hericane is a pretty complex character, but at her core she is a classic guardian archetype and I chose to represent that with an armoured and noble look. I experimented with a number of concepts, making her a commander in Imperious' army, then a Luddite defender of Cap Au Diable. In the end I settled on making tying her into the Crusades, a protector of the pilgrims travelling through the dangerous, bandit-filled mountains passes of Wallachia and Muntenia on their way to the Holy Land.

Unfortunately, armour and nobility came at the expense of some of Hericane's sensual look, but who says you can't be sexy in battle armour?

    Without further ado:

On the banks of the Black Sea

Observing from a position of command

    Examining the battlefield for clues

There are many tales about the origin of The Hericane. Some claim she is an avenging angel, risen from the grave, others that she is not from this world at all. The most widespread story, however, is that she a simple peasant girl, blessed by the Zâne of the Black Sea to protect those who would visit its shores.

For decades the passes through the Carpathian Mountains had been infested by the bandit-kings who fed upon the stolen wares of merchants traveling from the sea to the markets of Wallachia. With the kingdoms boyers more interested in their own wealth than that of protecting the trading route, many merchants took a longer route to the south rather than risk their deaths in the mountains which meant vital supplies of food and medicines were lost to the people inland.

When the Vatican called for every man in Wallachia who could raise a weapon to journey to the Holy Land, the people began to plot a journey that would allow them to avoid the mountains where they would be easy pickings, and rally at the shores of the Black Sea. The journey, which added months to their travel time meant that many of the troops and supplies destined for Jerusalem would not make it in time to aid those already fighting.

The boyers sent scouts into the mountains to try find a safe route, but only one returned- a young boy, with word from a striga that a single mountain pass remained open due to the intervention of a female warrior, clad in the finest of red and black armour.

  13. Hi,

I have two contrasting characters, either of which I'd be honoured to see sketched.

Firstly, is the dark engine of vengeance Eventide. A former member of the Legacy Chain, Operation: Destiny and mystic assassin, Eventide is now completely a law unto herself. She walks the world, waiting for something to reignite her passion and draw her back into the realm of humanity.

Secondly, I have warlock, Alarcity. Though she walks the path of a hero, Alarcity has progressed so far in the post-human arts of magic, that her plans and methods have become inscrutable, and to some, callous.
  14. I hate going to Pocket D, so by the time I reach level 41 I'm just like "screw it" for RP and concept.
  15. The PPD "vowed to protect the city without seeking alliances or help from the numerous hero organizations" (PPD Awakened write-up) but still accept individual heroes as members and let their officers merge with aliens? Talk about dumb (or typical government) bureaucracy.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Hero: Valkyrie because I like Norse Mythology.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's unfortunate she doesn't have anything to do with Norse mythology. She's a Tech Origin hero, filled with nanites. Even her name is an evolution of "Valerie Kellum".

Valerie Kellum was an up-and-coming archeologist exploring Scandinavia when she discovered what she first took for an ancient spear. A more careful examination led to the realization that the spear had a technological component. She traveled around Europe looking for ideas about its origin and ended up in a local Crey facility. When a Crey security team tried to take the weapon from her it activated and injected Valerie with advanced nanites that transformed her into Valkyrie, an extraordinary warrior with a completely different personality. She broke free and traveled to Paragon City where Positron is helping her come to terms with her new identity.

You'd think when a person is infected by lobotomising nanotechnology that other heroes might, you know, help her out?

You must know by now that the developers never release any answers to any questions this far in advance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I see your point, but unless you're privy to secret information about release dates, I don't think you know how far in advance we currently are.

    [ QUOTE ]
What do you mean 'alternate'? Statesman is a gigantic swaggering bully masquerading under a veneer of respectability because he's the least of a large group of dickheads.

But he has a blue and red costume with a star on it.

Castle said it was 46% more in ranged. Which is it?
  20. [ QUOTE ][LIST][*]The devs Have never promised complete proliferation.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there an interview where one of the devs say we won't go two issues without proliferation?
  21. My redsiders would use turncoat just to take advantage of the availability of recipes in the blueside market, and then switch back.
  22. Can we have music like in Samuraiko's trailer actually in the game?
