Quote:Sigh. Thanks for the info, FW. I was looking for a reason to take Repel now that my Kin guy has a couple extra power slots. I guess I still don't have one. :/It does need a target. Not only that, but it needs a target in range at the 10-second interval. The 10-second interval keeps counting continuously, but if you don't have a target in range at the right time, it still won't proc, and the next cycle will start. So, you could have 19.99 seconds between attempts at the proc.
The fact that Repel will push its targets out of range doesn't help, either.
Let the Repel enthusiasts commence with their defense! -
The market & invention forum didn't know, so I'm popping over here with my question:
If I put the Force Feedback +Recharge Proc into Repel, does it check its chance to activate on a continual basis, or only when a foe runs into the field?
Help me, Obi-Wan! You're my only hope! -
Test server?
What's that?
I don't know that I've ever actually used it for anything other than beta testing late in the process. I may have to go there and actually TEST! o.o -
I'm starting to deck out my speedster, and I'm curious how this would work.
If I put the Force Feedback Chance for +Recharge proc into Repel, does it tap its chance to activate on an ongoing basis, or only whenever some foe bumps into the field? -

Quote:Let me add that if you're willing to wait a week or so, you can buy most of these pieces at level 50 for 250,000 inf. And I mean already-built, ready-to-use, completed enhancements, not recipes.Sam,
you will see a significant improvement in each character using just crushing impact (melee), thunderstrike (ranged), doctored wounds (heal), red fortune (def) detonation (TAOE) and multi-strike (PBAOE).
Its not fully optimising, but all of those sets have decent set bonuses and are affordable as well as looking after the key parts of each power to enhance.
Mez sets, are generally cheap for a controller, same as pet sets. So feel free to fiddle much more with those.
Hold your nose, walk into the market and put down a bid for each one you want, then run out. Come back in a week when the stench of 'marketeering' has died down.
Ta-dah! You'll have bought most of what you want, spending less on each than the inf you'll generate in a typical lvl 50 mission. -
Gladiators worth saving?
No.

I would be more than happy to see 'new zone' written as 'revamped old zone'. I guess I didn't make that clear enough when I praised the Faultline and RWZ revamps, which were superb.
With all the heroside hazard zones being pretty much barren wastelands, this would, IMO, be a great way to recycle old content while at the same time giving us new stuff. Perez, Boomtown, TV, DA, Crey's and Eden are interesting places which I have only visited at all in the past 2 years to get the new exploration badges. I would especially love to see some sort of revamp that differentiated the industrial wastelands of Crey's, Boom and Terra Volta from one another. There's only so much copy-pasta rubble you can wade through before you're sick of the stuff.
My gut feeling however is that any 'new' zones we're going to see in the near future will be set in Praetoria. That's wide open for new 20-30, then 30-40, then 40-50 content. -
That anger was so cunningly disguised, it escaped even me!

It's January and we've been throwing out all sorts of threads detailing what we'd like to see in the future. I haven't seen my wishes covered yet, so I'm starting my own: a request for a return to the gold standard of Issues. (I mean 'gold standard' in this way, not that way)
In my opinion, the Gold Standard for this game is an Issue in which we get:
- A new zone with some distinctive feature or flavor
- A new or revamped enemy group to go with it
- 4 new contacts within that zone
- Each with a story that adds up to a greater whole
- Culminating in a trial or task force
That was the standard to shoot for, for a long time; The Hollows, with Wincott's son and the Igneous; Striga, with the Council and their Volcano Lair; Croatoa, with no less than four(!) new villain groups leading up to Katie Hannon's trial; Grandville, where Arachnos finally gets its story revealed in the arcs of the 4 patrons and the LRSF; revamped Faultline, which slipped a bit- the 'new' group was Arachnos again, and while there is no trial at the end, the finale is epic enough to be like a trial/TF; revamped Rikti War Zone, back on track with revamped Rikti and brand new Vanguard, culminating in the LGTF, and allllmost Cimerora- I'm still waiting for those 4 contacts the senator points you at to sprout story arcs that hint at the ITF!
In comparison to this standard, the last year or two's collection of issues have been... lacking. And I mean Issues, not paid expansions- Praetoria is a brilliant piece of work that says the dev team still knows how to design and implement fascinating new places to visit.
Instead, we keep getting new game systems which I neither need nor use. PvP? Gutted and pointless, and I haven't used it since all the PvP'rs moved out of my home server. AE? Continually nerfed and drowned in farms. I stopped using it about 4 months after its debut. Going Rogue? Hopelessly entangled with A-merits. I've sent one character rogue just to see what it's like, got halfway, and stopped. I don't see myself ever using the system again. I'm told there are story lines buried in the random generator of tip missions, but it's harder finding them than it is finding something good in AE. Incarnates? The jury is still out. But I'll say that the problem I had with playing my 50s was NOT that they weren't powerful enough. I really don't see Incarnate powers/salvage adding much to my game.
The only new system I've used and enjoyed since its implementation is the market/invention system. Old-school rpg reflexes kicked in, saying, "Who doesn't love loot?"
So. Issue 20 seems likely to be all about the Incarnates. Fine, get that system finished and out of the way. But please, afterwards, can we get back to the good stuff? You know, the basic game? Revamp Boomtown, give us a space zone, an underwater zone, more Praetorian zones, more time travel set piece zones.
War Witch said that after Incarnates, they would be focusing on content. That's what I'm hoping for in 2011. A Return to the Gold Standard. -

Sorry to threadjack like this, but with Ocho's announcement, I wanted to throw this in real quick:
Thank you, Noble Savage, for continuing to post with us here in uber-geek-land. You seem to have stepped up as the dev willing to hang out with us, and I really appreciate it.
I use the Dev/Rep channels as a quick summary of what to check out when I don't have time to thoroughly scan the forums. (An all-too-common event) The more you guys post, the more hooks I have into what's going on. Thanks for helping keep the casual folk like me in touch.
On Topic!
For me, the following stand out:
- Best geek TV this year: Doctor Who
- Best geek movie: Inception
- Best geek comic: The Return of Bruce Wayne
- Best geek webcomic: Order of the Stick
Huzzah! A good year for geekiness! -

Quote:No, they drop from any enemy of level 20 or higher. So smacking down grays still works, so long as their actual level is 20+.But aren't tips supposed to drop from mobs approximately the same level as you?
I'm not sure why Vanden isn't getting tips, honestly. The behavior he's described should have gotten him plenty o' tips and put him well on the road back to blue. -
This thread certainly took a turn for the surreal.
-
Ahhhhhhh
It's so good to be part of a community that not only gets it immediately, but then runs with it.

I get the feeling this thread is not aimed at me.
(I *have* done Ramiel's arc now, yay!) -
Featuring the return of KAOS!
Woo, Wil Wheaton!
I dunno, it was somehow a little fluffier than usual. But still good fun.
And Sophie's gift to Nate? Hard not to be spoiler-ish, but there's only one thing it could've been. Amirite? -
I have a hard enough time keeping up with dev-created content.
Going in to AE and then hunting for good player-created content on top of that?
Sorry, that just isn't happening.
As for creating missions, I gave that up after I lost count of the number of times the devs screwed with what you can and cannot place into your arcs.
Devs: Look at this cool stuff we'll let you do!
Players: 'SPLOIT!
Devs: Goddammitsomuch, NERF!!
::::cooldown period::::
Devs: Look at this cool stuff we'll let you do!
Repeat ad infinitum. Thanks, but no thanks.
I want to like AE, but the awful searching and creating processes involved have pretty much turned me off of it. -

Courtesy of the I Can Haz Cheezburger network, here's a little collection of unexpectedly cool art.
I especially like Elmer Fudd:
No indication of who did them, but I'd love to check out the rest of their work. -
Quote:Wait, what?!
The Moon Zone was constructed in Issue 12. It is an area seen for integrating forum newbies. As such, it doesn't allow anyone in after 1,000 posts. That's not an avant garde soundtrack you hear. That's Golden Ace's screams.
Aw, dammit.
I knew this posting-once-a-day stuff would get me into trouble eventually.
