Quote:Yep, that's exactly what I mean. Reward people for particpating in events, not for having money in their wallet. So you can only ever earn them for a week out of the year and never ever again? I'd sooner pay money than have more unlockable crap that's unlockable only once in a blue moon, to boot.
Making them craftable event cossie IOs, so that they can be stockpiled or bought and sold on the markets is fine to me as well (and this is coming from someone who went looking for a Winters Gift last night. I'm happy to either pay 20 million ingame for it or simply wait for them to roll around again in a couple of months and I can earn them). -
That makes them nice and cheap for Frankenslotting for me though.
Still could do with a few more. Silly that there's only 3 of them.
Slow sets need a good kicking as well. Someone was drunk when they were deciding what they enhance. -

Quote:From the highlighted criteria I think a Fire/Dark Corrupter suits the best. Massive AOE from level 6 onwards and excellent survivibility via debuffs, controls and a great heal.Except my Crab Spider i've played only Brutes, Scrappers and Tanks, think i have ~3 Dozens >lvl30-50 on 3 Servers. OK, i tried some MMs but it felt for me too much like babysitting. So after 3 Years of jumping in and burn my Attacks i getting bored of it and decided to give ranged ATs a try. But i am not sure which AT and Powersets would fit my Playstyle most. Maybe you can help me out. Here are the things that are important for me:
-I have to solo a lot(75% of the time).
-At ~lvl30-35 i normally start to use IO-Sets and switch to /x8, if -1/ or +2/ doesn't matter for me. So from ~lvl 30 and with some IO-Sets the Toon have to be survivable enough to handle /x8 Spawns without needing dozens of Greens per Fight.
-AOEs...yes i want them, i love to see all the Numbers on the screen. Cones only if i can stay at Range the whole time and keep the Mobs together.
-I hate buffing me, my Pets or Teammates al 20secs, so no Buff-Sets like Bubbles for me
-Pets are OK for me if they can take care of themself but not needed.
-I hate Breaks, so Chars that run out of end infight or need downtimes after each Fight are a Nogo for me. If it's so at the lower levels it's OK, but it has to change in Midgame.
-Controls, mmm don't know, could be nice. Love to see when the NPCs get knocked down from my Stone/Ice Toons or wander disorientated around my Dark-Scrapper.
I don't wanna start 20 new Toons, play them till lvl30 and delete then 19 of them, so i hope you can help to narrow down the Choice a bit.
Agree with beyeajus on Ice/Dark either. Ice isn't as insanely damaging as Fire but it's got nice control and decent single target attacks. -
Quote:Ice Storm does get containment damage, but only 50%s worth (basically the Cold Damage component of it).Yes, APP and Power Pool attacks get double damage with Containment. The only exception is if the power is a pet or Pseudo-pet power. (I need to double check, but I think the Ice APP's Ice Storm does not get containment, but I'm not positive.)
Earth APP's Fissure is very popular because it is a fast-recharging AoE damage power that gets containment -- and has a chance to stun. Fireball, Frost Breath, Torrent, Psi Tornado and the single-target blasts all get containment double damage.
The only exception is World of confusion, every other damage power in APPs can do at least some containment damage.
As for PPPs however I've no idea. They *should* but the APPs/PPPs were done pretty shoddily for Going Rogue so no idea if the powers people managed to actually get around to it. -
I love those Zombie guys. My mid-20s Broadsword/Fire Armour scrapper just eats them alive. Went from 27 to 28 last night in an hour slaughtering them (yay, shiney new Burn)
Then I went and rolled the 50 merits I'd earned from my first Hero Morality mission (along with those I'd earned in Praetoria) and got a Luck of the Gambler +recharge, a Makos Bite Damage/Recharge and a Ghost Widow triple.
And by slaughtering zombies for an hour it turned out the Deific Weapon and Enchanted Impervium I needed for crafting the LOTG and the Makos had been donated by some luckless zombie and I hadn't noticed!
Last night was a good night
Still no idea what to do with the LOTG though. Probably give it to my Widow (every good drop I've earned like the Steadfast unique and the Miracle unique are being channeled to her. Gleemail rocks) -
Quote:Disruption Arrow >> PGA. Disruption Arrow increases all the damage you, your imps and your team do by 15%. Your final damage figure across the board goes up by 15%.Pity. It's a tough call between that and disruption arrow too. I figure both will be nice to have come I19
Interestingly Disruption Arrow will also increase the amount of -damage PGA does as well due to the way -damage interacts with resistance. -
Quote:And I'm not sure why you're so determined to be outraged by all of this. Like we said it happens rarely and in the past they took steps to almost halve the amount of scheduled downtime.Easy if you know where to look. It's actually buried - if you don't know where to look - you won't find it.
Don't get your point - if you want that information available - post it on server status - that's where everyone looks. And don't know why you're so determined to defend the way things are done. That's fine - like the last guy- no more comments to you. It's pointless.
We're like diametrically opposed ions (I'm + ) -
Quote:If you pay 12 quid a month you don't expect 100% uptime.Yeah - well - i'm not on a European server - so no - i didn't see that message. Jeez though - i don't get you guys. You pay for something - you expect something. Don't know why you get annoyed when someone points that out.
If it ran on so that it was a days worth of unplanned downtime then yes, I'd be irked. 2-3 hours less than once a month, which is outside the majority of the heavy play-times (sorry Aussies) less so.
Hell they more than made up for that when they decided over a year ago to reduce the scheduled maintenence times from twice a week to just once on Thursdays. -

I'm not the one jumping up and down and saying I pay the developers wages though, am I?
It's patently obvious that something has screwed up on their end. It's unlikely they are standing around laughing and saying "Let's leave it down for a while longer just because we can" and it's very likely that if they did come along and say "It'll be fixed in 30 minutes" certain people would time it with a stopwatch...
It'll be fixed when it's fixed. It's not ideal but these things happen. Such is life. -

Quote:Nope. The most simple rule of business is "Try to have as little to do with customers as is possible while still being in business". Hence my presence here.Isn't this just a simple thing. We pay to play. That's it. Dev's get their salary from us. So - quite simply - as we pay their wages - tell us what's happening. Don't frustrate customers. It's the most simple rule of 101 running a business.
Don't see what's complicated about this whole thing really.
If one of our servers is down I don't rush off to tell the customer what is happening, oddly. I fix the issue. Once I've gotten that done and everything is about to restart THEN I tell the customer.
Most customers don't even notice, and those that do are usually quickly placated. -
Quote:Ooh, really? Didn't know that. Thought it was just toggles and the like that got surpressed. That's pretty cool. The Auction House in Preatoria turns off everything haven't tested it with a MM (I dont play them) but all my Trap pets go *POP* and all powers gray out when you enter the building.
(I've already posted earlier that the better solution isn't to just throw a surpression blanket over the area, that'd irk me personally, but to add a manhole entrance to a seperate supression covered vault area for those that want to opt out of seeing / hearing others powers). -
Quote:Actually in the comics power levels tend to flucate wildly for drama reasons. One minute someone will be overpowered by 3 thugs and beaten to a pulp, the next they'll get mad and punch someone through a building.Sometimes I wonder why this game is called City of Heroes. Aren't we supposed to be the heroes? Instead, average enemies are able to affect our characters in ways that disable or kill us.
I'm not saying the game should be incredibly easy. It should be a challenge or people will get bored. However, there are certain things the NPCs do with minions that ruin the experience of playing a super-hero. In the comics, it is rare for a "minion" to be more than a speed bump for most heroes. "Lieutenants" are not really a challenge; they just take a couple extra punches and a bit more effort on the part of the hero. Anything beyond that is where the real challenge is for the heroes in the comics.
When powers like smoke grenades, blind, sapper endurance drain, Carnie Illusionist summons and unaffectable states, and Resistance stealth and accuracy exist on minions and lieutenants, it tends to frustrate players. The challenge isn't the issue. The fact that something that isn't supposed to be challenging is far too challenging is the real issue. Save those powers for Elite Bosses and AVs, not minions and lieutenants.
most of the things you mention as "frustating players" I personally quite enjoy. This game is pretty easy and it's nice to have to think for a change occasionally, even if it means every now and then I get smeared into a fine coating over a wall by a combination of enemies.
This is a game first and foremost, not a comic book. And compared to most other MMOs you are able to handle a lot more enemies at once than most other MMOs. -
Quote:Which doesn't affect summoned pets I'm afraid. So the scary cow-demons would still be around.Ugh Demons WTF really..... More than once I've been sitting at the Black Market minding my own bussiness and up walks a Demon MM... "Roar!!! Roar!!! Howl!!! Grunt!!! Grunt!!! Snort!!! Roar!!! Roar!!!" Bajeeezus can you please Shut your damn pets up. I really hope WW's and The BM get the same treatment thay gave the Auction House. Power Null area please.

Quote:Quiet human, do not disrupt our brothers attempts to gain control of more of you giant bipeds. No, but you might want to reconsider your priorities when the game means more to you than that mind-controlling worm that's burrowing into your brain via your inner ear.
Erm, I mean Are the Servers back yet then? -

Quote:So your suggestion for to challenge people who have worked to make their characters uber is to take away the uber powers and slotting they worked towards?Something I do find ironic, is how often I see the posts of people bragging how ubber they are, and how much they wish the could be challenged. Underwater may actually provide such an across the board challenge by having certain powers degraded or perhaps not even working; but I guess those wanting challenge, as long as the challege is limited to spam status effects, its ok.
That's superb game design right there. People love being stripped of the things they worked hard to achieve for some arbitary reason.
I think you need to run off and put your miraculous game design ideas into practice. Go now. The Gaming World as a whole needs you.
I really don't want to play City of The Little Mermaid thanks. I'm sure there's some lame-***** game out there somewhere which might think implementing such an idea is an incredibly clever thing to do, thankfully this isn't it. -
Quote:I did this last night on my ScrapperWhat really bugs me is people that quit without saying a word. Sewer teams are about the worst place to look for etiquette, but I don't remember people silently running off and ciding+quitting to be that prevalent a year ago. I've been starting to see this in higher levels too! Sadly, I wonder if all this newfangled automatic teaming in other MMORPGs has dulled people's manners. It is not that hard to type a simple goodbye!
But in my defense it was because my damn electrics decided to start to start tripping out (maaan). Stupid thing. I was aiming to hit 28 and get the new and shiney Burn on my Scrapper too. -
