it's been a while now, there must be a a way !

what i'm talking about are powers like the uber brutal Smoke Grenade of doom of the night widows (npc) and more recently the horrible pulsing stealth (or - perception i don't know) mob from the resistance get that works even if you hit them with a Dot power.

None of my stalker are that stealthy once hide is broken it's dead
even reducing the time it need to the hiden statut to kick in back would be useless as once a group aggroed you they all get an instant second sight and will hit you to death no matter what you do (ok you can placate ONE of them)

smoke(fire control) or smoke grenade(night widow) are a joke. small to hit debuff and only work out of the fight O_o (like if i could turn myself invisible but only when i'm alone in an empty room)

add a placate effect for exemple for smoke for hide i honnestly don't know the game mechanics enough to do any suggestion) but do something please !

sorry for the bad english and all.

regards

I have to say, for the game to be a challenge, expect some powers the enemies use, to break the rules of the player allowed powers.

As for the enemy smokes, there are work arounds for it...like...grabbing some +Perception powers.

Or just popping a yellow. That's the easiest way to nullify them.

i know what you can do against it (well some need hella more than a single yellow)
it's not the problem.

thing is that for us (the player so in a sense, the heroes for god sake!) they are just a bad joke. if it works for the npc it should works better for us no? (i know lot of thing work better for the npc like the capacity to instant fire snipe at a machine gun rate or to punch you for 4/5 of your hp barre)

especially when we have toons designed around stealth in the game

Working as Intended. Nothing is broken here.

Ergo. Nothing needs to be fixed.

If anything is broken and needs to be fixed...it's MALTA.

Specifically the Hercules Titans and whatever there gas grenade holdy missle thing is that stacks and stacks and stacks upon itself and blows through pretty much everyone's mez resistance. I have seen upwards of 13+ applications of that blasted thing and there was only one HT in the group and he fired it off ONCE.

Someone say something funny.

Easy solution for that......

.....don't stand in the cloud.

The cloud is immobile once it hits it's target. If you are playing a melee AT, get out of the cloud before it can stack enough to overwhelm your mez protection/resistance. If you're playing a squishie, pop a breakfree and get out of the cloud so it can't re-hold you.

If you're the team's tank, don't worry about losing agro by moving, they'll follow you.

If you get perma-held by the hold missile power, because you stayed standing in the cloud the whole time, it's your own fault. It is avoidable, it just falls to YOU to avoid it.

Sometimes I wonder why this game is called City of Heroes. Aren't we supposed to be the heroes? Instead, average enemies are able to affect our characters in ways that disable or kill us.

I'm not saying the game should be incredibly easy. It should be a challenge or people will get bored. However, there are certain things the NPCs do with minions that ruin the experience of playing a super-hero. In the comics, it is rare for a "minion" to be more than a speed bump for most heroes. "Lieutenants" are not really a challenge; they just take a couple extra punches and a bit more effort on the part of the hero. Anything beyond that is where the real challenge is for the heroes in the comics.

When powers like smoke grenades, blind, sapper endurance drain, Carnie Illusionist summons and unaffectable states, and Resistance stealth and accuracy exist on minions and lieutenants, it tends to frustrate players. The challenge isn't the issue. The fact that something that isn't supposed to be challenging is far too challenging is the real issue. Save those powers for Elite Bosses and AVs, not minions and lieutenants.

Actually in the comics power levels tend to flucate wildly for drama reasons. One minute someone will be overpowered by 3 thugs and beaten to a pulp, the next they'll get mad and punch someone through a building.

most of the things you mention as "frustating players" I personally quite enjoy. This game is pretty easy and it's nice to have to think for a change occasionally, even if it means every now and then I get smeared into a fine coating over a wall by a combination of enemies.

This is a game first and foremost, not a comic book. And compared to most other MMOs you are able to handle a lot more enemies at once than most other MMOs.

You gotta gut the NPCs some slack. They are almost completely deaf, and horribly near-sighted (how else would you explain them not noticing you brutalizing their buddies on the other side of a small room?) So maybe they can't see stuff 50 feet away, but they can see stuff right in front of them REALLY well!

Don't get me wrong, I'm big on the idea that our characters should be able to mow down lots of bad guys.

But seriously, the foes we're facing are not average enemies. Especially not level 40+ stuff. These foes are metahuman in capability, even if some of them look mundane, like the Nemesis and Malta human troops. The game fiction makes clear that they're using high-tech gear that's tailor designed to take down metahumans.

There are a few places where we get what really seem to be truly mundane foes taking us on, like the low-level Paragon Police. However, by and large that's confined to the lower levels of the game, where it makes more sense if not good sense.

It may seem to stretch credulity that people like Malta could fill maps wall-to-wall with troops equipped with such fancy gear, and so those armies must actually be more mundane troops. Consider the flip side - where on Earth have all those Freakshow filling your map been hiding?

I play City of Heroes, and this hasn't been my experience at all
