1. 1) No, Carrion Creepers are a weird, weird power. The enhancements won't propagrate to the damaging creepers themselves (because they are a pet of a pet apparently), all its worth slotting them for at the mo is Recharge.

2) On Plant / Thermal I'm not so sure. Thermals shields are Resistance so PB won't affect them, but it will affect Heals. PBed Seeds would be nice too.

3) Plants AOE Cage does double the damage of any other (with maybe the exception of Fire), sure that's still not massive damage but its something. You also get Seeds which is an amazing power, really early. So there are strengths there too.

NCSoft Q3 Report

Taken from a US Post, Q3 figures for CoH. Sales are however up, probably due to microtransactions.

[ QUOTE ]
See this page for details. COH is down to 124,939 accounts accessing monthly, with 13,443 maximum accounts online at the same time. That's the second lowest amount of monthly accesses ever posted, and not by much.

Spreadsheet with graph here.

The numbers are for September, before the advertising campaign on the web started. We'll see how well that's working in three months.

Sales for COH have increased, however: 5,721KRW in Q1, 5,743KRW in Q2, 6,193KRW in Q3 (8% of all NCsoft sales); that's a 6% increase QoQ and a 8% increase YoY; content updates and promotion are given as reasons for the growth here, though microtransactions most likely had something to do with it.

Seems to indicate that there are fewer people about but those about are buying things like the Cyborg pack etc.

The most striking thing to me is the drop in Monthly Access, which sorta reflects how I am at the mo, still paying subs but not actually connecting that much recently
3. From a post I made in the US, which you can see here

I think my second post explains what I'm going on about a bit better. Basically I was testing / checking how far one could take the "If you slot a Set IO with Recharge into a pet or Pseudo pet any power they have which is affected by the IO should recharge faster" with things like Lightning Storm and noticed some oddness with Real Numbers and non-set Recharge IOs in pets & pseudo-pets.

Anyone over here know what the story is?

[ QUOTE ]
Yes, I know all that, and certainly when I slotted Lightning Storm with End Mod/Recharge & Acc/End Mod/Recharge it seemed to fire off faster (that was what I was trying out : Min/Maxing Lightning Storm by upping the Recharge since it should affect the speed it fires at and how quickly I can summon a second).

I was then wondering what would happen with Phantasm & Acc/Recharge from the Knockback set and again the Real Numbers seemed to say his attacks would recharge faster, I didn't really test that one though but going on what I thought I knew that should speed up all his attacks as well.

But when, out of curiosity, I checked one of my PA attacks I noticed the 3 non-set Recharge IOs slotted were affecting it, or at least Real Number reported they were. The attacks did not seem to be recharging faster.

I then switched toons and tested with Singy, slotting a non-set recharge IO into him, his attacks reported they recharged faster but didn't.

So now I'm wondering what the story actually is, are Real Number bugged, if so how much, and do Set IOs affect Pet and Pseudo pet powers?

My tests seem to indicate that Set ones do and non set ones don't, but Real Numbers thinks they do. It undermines the whole idea of Real Numbers if they are misreporting figures like this.

"No blinds, fills, farms or PLs. Send a tell, and give details please!"

[/ QUOTE ]

Just out of curiosity, I know what a blind is, have figured out farming and PLing, but what is filling?

[/ QUOTE ]

Filling is when you join someones team to increase the numbers. You don't go to the mission or enter it, the Farmer runs around the mish stealthed to generate all the spawns (Spawns don't "appear" in a mission until someone gets close and are then generated based on the # people in the team and the difficultly set by the mish owner). Once they've done that they kick you and solo the lot. More enemies means more Inf and Drops.

Personally I tend to be looking for a legitimate PuG team so I don't fill either since in the time you're filling you could miss a PuG looking for a member.
5. Black Hole is there so you aren't forced to get all the Dark powers since the rest are all great.

Petrifying Gaze is a standard hold. But a standard hold is very useful for taking worrysome Lieuts and minions out of a fight before they do something nasty.

I did have a pleasant Posi TF before, but that's because there were only 3 of us doing it and we spent most of the time chatting.

[/ QUOTE ]

Would you repeat it often to get merits for your recipes? With different people? on an eight man random PuG?

[/ QUOTE ]

Dear gods no. But then I won't be doing any TF in order to earn merits, its not how I play.
7. [ QUOTE ]
There's something that came to mind while chatting earlier on in game.

This is a game, a game should be fun and good things should be obtained through fun, if the best rewards are achieved through the two most tedious, boring, flawed and long TF's in game, then something is surely wrong.

And no, none of you will convince me that Positron and Dr. Quaterfield are only boring and tedious "in my opinion", no Sir!

[/ QUOTE ]

Well actually...

I did have a pleasant Posi TF before, but that's because there were only 3 of us doing it and we spent most of the time chatting.

I can't remember what wonderful reward it gave me, I bet it was something pants though (probably a Snipe set, I seem to specialise in earning them).
8. [ QUOTE ]

And yeah, wrote it today.

9. Great story, but I've no idea what happened at the end.

How did Ellie survive / reform and who / what is Voyd.

Excellent writing though, slightly angsty but you can blame Ravens for that
Did you come up with all that this afternoon?

At the end of the day, it's not that our opinion matters much or anything at all, we might have a chance if in US forums and stuff... in fact, now that I come to think, if not servers, they could at least merge forums.

At least we can discuss opinions here and deal with job boredom, you know, world wide crisis and all that.

[/ QUOTE ]
Oh yes, I'm all for discussing what might happen, and whether this or that is a good idea.

At the same time someone not up on the background of things might stumble into a discussion, read someone saying "XXX will be the case in I13" and get completely the wrong end of the stick because they mistake it for a dev-level commitment.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm getting bored of agreeing with you Standoff.

But absolutely. Saying "This will be case..." indicates you've read or heard something from the Devs or Patch Notes and are passing it on, not that it is what you think may be the case, IE is total guesswork.
12. [ QUOTE ]
If people dont take the time to respond to a tell, then I will blind. They may have been AFK and missed the tell but not the invite. But at the end of the day, it is polite to send a tell so polite to reply. If no reply they get blinded.

It is hard enough to get a team without people not replying to polite tells.

And how hard is it to hit backspace and type no ty. Involves 6 kep presses.

[/ QUOTE ]

See that's NOT polite in the slightest.

If someone doesn't answer you they're busy, for whatever reason (up to their armpits in Rikti, Teleporting across a zone, shopping, respeccing or whatever), take the hint and wait for them to reply. If they don't then assume they don't want to talk to you for whatever reason and move on

*Number Crunch*

Heh. All I do is pillage City of Data for the numbers. Also I'm not 100% on how Fulcrum Shift works so this could easily be rubbish.

Far as I know though it will give you a 50% boost from yourself and a (25% * #affected) from the target.

The cap is 400, including Enhancments

You start at 100%

Enhancements give 95%

Aim gives 50%

Power Boost gives 80%

So with Enhancements, Aim & PB you've 325% already. So all you need with Fulc is 75%, so just one target will cap you off.

However with just Enhancements you've got 195, so you need 205% : 6 targets will bring you to 395%.

With it totally unslotted for damage 10 targets will still cap damage on any power you fire off.

All taken from here

I just build hover at higher levels in...

[/ QUOTE ]

Bah! That's the wuss way.

Real men do it with the risk of the Wile E Coyote plummet.

Did anyone else ever want Wile E ever to catch that damn smug bird?
15. This is supposed to be coming, via the City Vault website I believe.

But its been delayed for ages now. God only knows when the damn thing is going to actually go live. There's been no offical word in ages too,
16. Sorry, I agree with Ravens, why reinvent the wheel (in this case mids) just to avoid alt-tabbing to check you're following a build correctly?

I really don't see the need for it.

But an Export is a good idea.
17. Signed. For the simple reason that I want the Thugs MM Bruiser to get the same. The knockback is a right pain (so much I don't bother upgrading him). With the new Upgrade powers on the way it'll get much trickier mid-battle to avoid applying it to him when resummoning.
18. [ QUOTE ]
But if there is just two or 3 of you and everyone else quit the TF, you would be fighting Elite Bosses.

Having said that, I'd be pretty happy to duo most of the AVs in game with me rad/sonic and a mele toon.

[/ QUOTE ]

Taskforce AVs don't downgrade do they? I was pretty sure they'd always be AVs regardless of how many are on the mish.

Wait.... Did you just call X-Men 2 eeew? Silly FFM.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah... Well, not as silly as Wolverine getting shot in the head, and the bullet not ricocheting from his adamantium skull...

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes. That was the silliest part of that scene. Not the boy shooting fire from his fingertips, or the other chap shooting ice, or the fact there's a hairy chap running around with a metal-plated skeleton....

Or that someone let Halle Berry play Storm again after the "Lightning striking a toad" line from the first one
20. Why? Just why?

If you want one-shot kills outlevel Dr Vash or go kill Sally.

This seems utterly pointless.
21. [ QUOTE ]
People do this already anyhow. They make a build with mids character designer, then they follow the build exactly.

This idea would just allow the system to level you up, according to the build you select. It prevents accidental wrong power choices, it eliminates the need to travel to a trainer (remind me - why can we not just do that over the phone anyhow??).

And ask yourself, you agree that exporting builds would be a good idea... But what logical purpose could that serve, if there was not a mechanism for importing it back in?

[/ QUOTE ]

So one could easily export / post their live builds into 3rd party applications (like Mids) and the forums. At least that's the only reason I'd use it.

So yes to Exporting my Live characters from CoH into a nice easily read / parsed format for other apps. The other bit I'm really not sure about.

Cossies can be exported and imported back in to make it easier to make SG / Themed cossies across multiple toons and, as a godsend for me, for "repairing" some god awful mess of a cossie I did at 2:00am and resetting it back to look like my first slot does or did.

if they could do it to the level and quality that Iron Man was done, that would be pretty neat.
But yes, wait to see what Time tells =P

[/ QUOTE ]

Fat chance... To get THEIR super hero movies done right, Marvel ended up having to open their own movie studio so they could do it right and ignore the idiot other studios who want to make it "realistic". Look at the difference with Incredible Hulk and Iron Man over earlier hero movies... Ok, Spider-Man 1 & 2 were done well, and X-Men 1 wasn't too bad, but the rest? Ewwww... Imagine what FF4 could have been if Marvel made it themselves...

[/ QUOTE ]

Wait.... Did you just call X-Men 2 eeew? Silly FFM.

A CoH movie would probably end up being an embarressment TBH, and would end up being one of those movies ITV show at 12:30 on a weekday night.

I still can't recall a single decent Game -> Movie port. Tomb Raider is poor to average at best, and its probably the best of the lot.

I see in the US post linked above, that it is only the mission owner who currently gets the merits in the version on test.

[/ QUOTE ]

I hope that's a bug. If that's working as intended it'll turn this into a single player game overnight.

"Want to team?"
"Maybe, what do I get out of it?"
"Er, nothing"
...

[/ QUOTE ]

The correct answer is
"Fun, friendship and maybe more..."

And watch them run to the hills
24. So how many merits do you get for GMs?
25. [ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]

Which is exactly why I don't do most of the TFs. I quite like Hess, and the witch one in Croatoa. Eden was boring. The one time I tried Posi I gave up beofre the end due to time, but it wasn't exactly thrilling me. T/SF's and Trials seem to be a lot of exactly the same kind of mission you nromally get, strung into a story which quite often makes no sense, and extended to the point where it's irritating. I don't find them fun.

[/ QUOTE ]
Could well be worth trying the modern ones (statesman, lady grey and imperious) - I think the standard improved heck of a lot.

Before them it is only Katie and Hess that really stand out - and Positron is really only in the game to provide newbies with a bad introduction to TFs! Much the same as the 1st SSTF is there to stop 40+ characters thinking that the shard TFs will be any better than the lower TFs...

A little surprised you found the Eden trial boring though... although it's nowhere near as good as the 3 newest TFs.

All said and done though, they all come down to go there, hit this, go there, click that rinse & repeat. It's just that the newer TFs have some variation in foes/maps/tactics that aren't seen in the rest of the game...

[/ QUOTE ]
Nail on the head there. So many of the older ones are like dull Story Arcs. Manticores & Citidels are like Groundhog Day. Posi's and Synapes are little better.

The Lady Grey TF is fun though, a small number of fairly epic missions rather than a huge list of very dull ones.
