New Animation for Teleport

Will anyone ever try to change the teleport animation?

I think it is kinda tacky and not exactly impressive, especially when the graphic technology of today is capable of so much more.

Eg - Where are the distortion effects, rippling effects, gravitational attraction to near by props. I know we are not exactly working with the source engine here, but surely something can be done with particle effects to add some sort of distortion effect that is transparent, but makes it look like space is bending in towards you, then a bright light and you are gone, and to make it even better looking, after you are gone, the distortion effect relaxes, in an almost elastic manner, slingshotting back to its normal look, and then vanishing - Without a trace.

Also - Has anyone ever seen in the game data files, a power icon under gravity control called Fold-Space.
It has similar icon to teleport, but is different from the icon to Wormhole (in case anyone was thinking thats what it is)

Here is the Icon for it... Some people have said that it was actually replaced by Singularity at the end of beta, or come issue 2. Can anyone confirm? Some people said it was going to be an assemble the team type power in gravity control.

Have you been watching Jumpers a lot?

The teleport effect that exists is fairly origin neutral. You can explain it plenty of ways. If you start incorporating 'gravitational effect' then you're leaning heavily toward a technology origin explanation. Do pretty, sparkly lights and it's magical. (Puff of black smoke and it's mutant? )

I don't actually see a need to introduce thudding huge great graphical effects to something which already suffers massively if there is any lag in its execution cycle. So, no, no thanks. Leave it how it is.

I disagree with the idea that the animation suggests the origin.

I mean, how many 'Magic Gravity Controllers' have you seen?
When I said Gravitational Effects, I merely meant maybe having some sort of physics effect that affects props and debris.

Eg - Make Leaves swirl around you, make debris fly towards you.

Granted, as for the arguement put forward about lag and such.
Gravitational Effects on props are all done Client Side - No Network Lag - Thats why when you throw a Propel Prop - Everyone sees a different object.

As for Graphical Lag - Thats what the slider option is for in the game options, turn it down, and laggy effects wont bother you.
If developers keep developing content and effects that are fine tuned for peoples lower end machines, and ignore the capabilities of people who actually spend money getting good graphics cards, then they are pretty much not aspiring to create a better game, but are instead allowing it to fall behind the competition.

You're still forcing your view of how a telelport works on other people. Just leave it as a flash of light.

Though I'd be happy to lose the stupid "I'm a muscle man, see me 'port" emote that goes with it.

Yeah, that has to go.

They finally got a nicer hover animation, could we please at least have a nicer teleport emote.

Also - if we are being left with teleport being a flash of light... can we at least have a 'nice flash of light.' Lol.

The flash of light is fairly generic, which is probably what they were aiming for. From a roleplaying point of view, maybe my characters teleport doesnt want to work like your characters teleport. Teleport is one of those powers that everyone looks the same in. Jumping players can have rocket boots to make them look different, flying players have wings, runners... well.... runners just run. Some sort of diversity with teleporting would be nice, even if it is a small change that gives one character distinction from the next.

And we fall into the realms of Power Customisation, and it's time to step away from the thread.

i would like to see it like stripes, so it doesn't exactly looks like teleport but more like you're moving extremely fast.

Id just be happier if they increased the bloomin' 'hover' time. Theres nothing in it, trying to TP around and more often than not you'll fall too far for comfort, and sometimes too far full stop (owch...)
And thats WITHOUT lag, for pete sake

This is why I bind Teleport to my E key... :\

Sam: "My mind is a swirling miasma of scintillating thoughts and turgid ideas."
Max: "Me too."

Um... you normally bind it to shift+click, then it's just a one press move to the next spot.

I DO tend to bind it, and normally to T cos its easy to reach and its appropriate...
Still doesnt detract from the fact that the hover time is too short. If you lose track of where your going or such, or get hit by a lag spike...oops, kiss your health goodbye and, if your in a higher zone before you're level 50, thats NOT a good thing =[

I just build hover at higher levels in...

- The Italian Job: The Godfather Returns #1151
Beginner - Encounter a renewed age for the Mook and the Family when Emile Marcone escapes from the Zig!
- Along Came a... Bug!? #528482
Average - A new race of aliens arrives on Earth. And Vanguard has you investigate them!
- The Court of the Blood Countess: The Rise of the Blood Countess #3805
Advanced - Go back in time and witness the birth of a vampire. Follow her to key moments in her life in order to stop her! A story of intrigue, drama and horror! Blood & Violence... not recommend to solo!

Bah! That's the wuss way.

Real men do it with the risk of the Wile E Coyote plummet.

Did anyone else ever want Wile E ever to catch that damn smug bird?

Personally i would love for them just to stop the hole waving of arms just a simple blink out and blink in to existence for basic TP would be fine.

It would also make the power seem quicker at the Mo it seems to take ages to work and looks weird if mid combat you stop wave your arms about to appear some where else.
