Thank god you're telling the devs this, so they can stop it. It's so horrible that our pets can do that.
Also please let them know we're getting way too many merits, too much xp, inf and all other powers really should be nerfed.
And when your boss wants to raise your salary, please, oh please let him know that you don't think you deserve the salary and he should keep the money and buy himself something nice.
Yes...
...That was sarcasm...

Was it? Really? From you?
I'm astounded! -
I had it 4 slotted in the 20s (due to lack of slots) with 1 acc and 3 recharge, his damage isn't great (that said I tend to just make them out of zombies since zombies die so often), I mostly used him as a 4th (and 5th) zombie BG.
Once I hit the 30s I stuck some more slots in there and boosted the damage.
That said I found once I hit 32 and the Lich became a fully fledged controller in my pocket I had to work at getting the zombies killed. But I do love it when I've got 2 Spirits out (with Hasten). I have a move aggressive bind for sending one luckless Zombie in to take the alpha (and die) just so I can rez him for Spirit goodness.
The Intensive Recharge Pet sets (or whatever they are called) are currently bugged so avoid them for the moment. Frankenslotting with 2 Acc/Dam and a Dam from Pet sets and 3 recharge would be the way I'd do it currently. With a damage and a recharge getting replaced with the Pet +Defense and +Resist uniques if I can get them (the Spirit doesn't need to be out or anything for these to work on all pets so he works nicely as a mule for them)
2 Recharge SOs will drop the recharge to 361 seconds (66% enhancement), 3 to 306 seconds (95% enhancement, 6 seconds from perma). -
I actually gave up replying to these. Why?
Because I noticed whenever I got one I'd start with the "X wants to know if they can..." before they'd pop onto the team anyway. Any ones I got the whole team, including the leader, seemed to get as well.
So if I'm mid-combat I just tend to assume nowadays that at least half the rest of the team got the same tell seconds later too and they can deal with it. -

Whoever it is that's hating shields will be thankful that you've made it right through some v expensive slotting.
I do comparisons with SO builds myself as I deem that as fairer.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agree with this 100%. I'd hope ANY set with that sort of investment in it would do well.
Still even just with SOs Shields seems fine to me. Just looking at the figures (since my Shields/Fiery Melee) is just level 7 is it the fact that the Shield shields have both Defense and Resistance and people generally just slot for the defense skewing peoples opinions a bit?
And from what I've seen on City of Data all 3 versions of Shield Charge use the same pseudo-pet to do the damage (I assume so it'll hit people after the TP and not before it) which is very nice indeed for Tanks. -
You're far better off only posting things you've tried yourself Fiery. Opinions on d'internet are like the hydra, there'll always be tonnes of them, oftentimes contridicing the opinions of others and they're a bugger to kill off. Especially since PBs and Warshades changed so much with the last issue.
Or as Princess says just asking something like "Do Black Dwarfs underperform compared to White Dwarfs" or "How do mid-level Warshades do in PvE" would get you far less flamey responses. -

Sometimes it beats pressing 3-6-7-8-1-4-2-3-4-2-3-5-ad nauseam, especially if you always see the same mobs in the same corridors, knowing that you could skip that button mashing and get a sandwich while the resident ghoster, eh, ghosts.
You can also be radical and chat with your team mates in the short wait until the ghoster is done ghosting. If you get bored of that, then either your ghoster svcks, or your team members are incredibly boring: Either way, you better reform the team.
Finally, you can be even more radical, roll a ghoster ans try ghosting for yourself.
Case in point: while reading your post and thinking of how to answer it, I was button mashing my attack chains pretty much on auto. I think that's telling of how fun laborious "defeat all" missions really are. Had someone been ghosting, I'd had a nice chat with my friends, and had I done the ghosting, I'd been concentrating on that. Either way, my mind would have been in the game, not here on the board.
All in my humble opinion, of course. If you enjoy your play-style, I'm not saying that you're wrong. I just don't agree.
[/ QUOTE ]I don't really agree with you either, although I don't have anything against it if other people prefer to ghost - unless I'm in the team for the experience, of course.
I have my own ghoster, as I stated in an earlier post here.
Also, mashing buttons 3-6-7-8-1-4-2-3-4-2-3-5 repeatedly is pretty much how the entire game goes. Including AV fights. If that bores you, I don't see why you're playing CoX (or (most) MMORPGs in general) at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
AV fights tend to be the worst offenders IMO. All pile on the bag of HP and slowly whittle him away. Had one (a Hero class actually) in RWZ last week. The Longbow Lieutent. Most boring fight I've been in in a very, very long time. At least with regular spawns you work on getting position right, where to drop debuffs etc and the added bonus of maybe aggroing a second mob to make life more interesting. AV fights are just DULL for the most part. The only good one I've had in ages was the one at the end of the Dark Watcher arc thanks to all the varied ambushes. -

I am feeling a little conned by them to be honest. I have characters that haven't roamed the streets of paragon for over 60 days. When I did log them in I don't get the badges for the locations they are logged out, or huge amounts of patrol xp. Characters I play regularly get a little bonus icon showing saying things like "extra enhancement when completing a mission" and then vanish before I can complete one short mission. As far as I can see they are "oooooh shiny" and not much else.
[/ QUOTE ]
The patrol XP is nice for me, I've so many alts I can just flit between them harvesting double XP. I might even get some to 50 this way!
The jobs themselves are pretty much a waste of time for me though, cannae be bothered. -

Someone with genuine altitis will want to kit out all there alts, so they will all need merits, so thier is no point in being able to trade them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmm. That's nonsense IMO. Someone with genuine altitis will never have enough merits to kit out all their chars, that's a lot of the issue with having lots of alts. Having some way of pooling them would be nice as oppose to having lots of wastage.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is me. Since the abomination of Merits, I've had to choose two or maybe three alts to work on IOing out. All the others just have to get by with SOs. I'd be for trading Merits between alts on one account but nothing further otherwise it defeats the object of them as has been said.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't get this. How is this any different than before merits? Before merits the only way to get "expensive IOs" was through TF/SFs and trials (not counting purples, for purples things changed even less than for other IOs). Now for most TFs you get more than just the single random roll you got first, you get extra merits for story arcs where you previously would've gotten nothing and all the 'regular' IO drops from foes stayed the same. So how do you manage to get LESS toons IOed out than before?
[/ QUOTE ]
This would be true, but merits along with other I13 features like Dual Builds, have combined to reduce the usefulness and availablity of the other source of IOs I used to use : The Markets.
Although I still do use the markets the cost has gone up and supply has dropped so it's a lot harder than it was. It'd be nice to gain a positive affect from Merits too since I've been affected by the negative.
I'm not even talking about the top class IOs either, I don't really give a fig about things like the Numina or Miracle uniques or the 7.5 LOTG one. It's the other Task Force IOs which don't seem to be being generated at the moment, things like Acc/Mez/Recharge IOs regardless of the set bonuses. It would be nice if I could try rolling for things like that myself using across-account pooled merits rather than having the odd merit-change sitting there doing nothing in 3 or 4 different chars. -
[ QUOTE ]
Depends on what you see as being altitis.
I see it as never staying on one character for very long before coming up with the concept for and creating a new one. In this scenario, you never get much above lvl 35 or so before mothballing the character and starting another one. And in that situation you're never going to complete enough arcs for enough merits to get the recipes you use.
Frankly, that describes me at the moment, but I'm happy that SO's give me enough strength in my characters that I'm not really that bothered about IOs or Merits anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't mothball em but certainly my playtime between them gets diluted. The issue more becomes that since they get played less often as they get older I tend to use them for Pick up and Play PuGs more so the amount of arcs they continue completing peaters off (since missions end up going stale and the like). It'd be nice to have a use for those merits I did earn in the teens and 20s with the characters is all really. -

[/ QUOTE ]
True, but they would never have enough merits to kit out any of thier characters. May as well spend merits on individual alts as they earn them.
[ QUOTE ]
Farmer alt can simply spend the merits currently to supply the others. Spend the merit. Get the recipe. Craft it. Use Base Storage to give it to the alt.
[/ QUOTE ]
true, but it adds another layer of complication.
And if doing this is so easy, then there is no need to be able to trade merits between alts in the first place is there?
[/ QUOTE ]
Huh? It's easy for a farmer to currently trade the recipes from rewards. It's currently impossible for me to use all the 8 Merits, 6 merits etc from arcs on different chars as I can't combine them into something potentially useful, like a random roll. Unless I start farming a few arcs myself to get a single toon up to 25 merits of course.
All the current system means to me (and I'll happily accept I might be a minority here) is either ignore it or start doing some Arc farming myself just to get some use out of it.
I'm falling foul of having a fair few piles of "loose change". Some way of spending that loose change by letting my alts pool their resources would be nice. -

Pooling merits simply encorages the creation of a "farmer alt" to supply the others.

This doesn't make sense to me either, a Farmer alt can simply spend the merits currently to supply the others. Spend the merit. Get the recipe. Craft it. Use Base Storage to give it to the alt. -
I do think we should have some way of pooling our merits from all our characters (on the same side) in the one account though. My altitis is killing me (especially since I've rarely got time for TFs but accumulate a few via arcs which end up doing bugger all.

That's like asking if anyone would wear any of the outfits shown at London/Paris/Milan/NY Fashion Week. They're not meant to be outfits/hairstyles you wear, they're meant to show off the talent of the creator and provide inspiration to the masses.
[/ QUOTE ]
Eh, call me a [insert whichever derogatory term is most appropriate], but I never found any real point in those either. I'm a practical person; why waste cloth for something that is not meant to actually be worn, and often tends to look ugly on the stick-figure models anyway?

Because a lot of the thought, ideas and trends behind the shows tends to end up in Top Shop and the like in the following season.

And yes, I am looking forward to hearing everything GR has to say about this decidedly very welcoming community, the good and the bad. Why fix what isnt broken. If the devs have a problem with perma dom then look at that in isolation, dont break an excellent AT. Why spend the last 3 years buffing what was easily the runt of the litter only to break it now? Doms are far from the overpowered AT some people seem to think they are, even perma doms. And now with PVP being an insignificance why tinker with their PVE performance??
[/ QUOTE ]
They're looking to buff Doms, especially non-Perma Doms. Castle is looking at making the runt a little less runty, without affecting Permadom. -

Quite often, they WERE!
I was watching an interview with one of the makers last year, and there was one episode where they were trying to get, I think it was some doors, open; but they were stuck.

(it's actually slightly worrying how much of the Clangers I still remember. Must buy them for my lil one actually *runs off*) -
Seems pretty good Raffe. Lingering Rad needs to-hit though so throw in an Acc. Other than that seems pretty well slotted to me.

Just thought I better mention that Light Form also gives mez protection.

And Eclipse is better than Light Form anyway.

To subjective. You seem to be basing this conclusion on Light Form blocking form shifting. Not a significant drawback if, like me, you don't play a tri-form.

Light Form has a manky crash.
I would have killed for some mez protection last night though, so annoying fighting Malta and having to Dwarf up all the time (even worse when they combine the incredibly long Stuns with a Sapper and rip you apart. Hurrah for Stygian Return). -

That's down to your browser really. I use Opera and Back and Forward all the time, even just to check things and it works fine for me. (I never really get Form is not valid errors either)
IE never manages to remember what fields I had filled in, even with other sites. -
a) What's wrong with your Caps-lock button?
b) You're wrong about Warshade Dwarfs not having decent PBAoE. They do now, in Mire which now recharges in 20 seconds, one which also boosts their damage significantly for 10 seconds, making them a lot more scrappy than they used to be. They should easily outdamage a PB now. They also have a Self-Heal (one that does need to hit but will actually tend to outheal the PB version if its slotted up).
And my Warshade Dwarf was outlasting a Fire Tank on the Dark Watcher arc on Friday. She happily tanked Fake Posi each time the Fire Tank died without much of a problem.
