Quote:This is basically correct, from what I've tested with my Stone/Fire Brute. -1s will still knockdown, -2s and lower will be knocked back instead (for normal enemies with no knockback weaknesses or protection)Okay, just got a chance to test, here's what I got just jumping around PI and in one AE with my Level 46.
Tested on Freaks, Nemesis, CoT and Malta
Levels 45+ stayed in place with both Fault and Tremor.
Levels 44- flew about when hit with Fault and Tremor.
I know this isn't an extensive study, but should work to provide the info you're after.
I use Fault > Burn > Tremor usually as my chain. If you try Tremor > Burn > Fault I find the second knockback doesn't happen, and the mobs do the speed-stunned-stagger out of your Burn Patch.
Note that on a Brute, because of the way pseudo-pets inherit a Damage Buffs duration as well as the buff itself that Fury tends to only affect the first 2 or so seconds of the Burning (after that their inherited Fury Damage buff expires). I've tested it a few times now. Still does nice AOE damage even then (especially with Build Up and Fiery Build-up thingy running). -
Quote:Well that's how I'd do it anyway. An option to make your team Publicly Viewable (so it shows up on the list) and a checkbox which goes with it (defaulted to unticked) which allows Auto-joining. Otherwise people would have to send the public team leader a tell instead. If that part isn't mandatory I'm dead set against the idea. Cuz we all know that a "Join now" feature will get abused by the "PL Meh!" crowd.
Of course the analogy sorta fails in that the AE, despite being replicated madly into every zone possible by the devs in practice ended up as a two zone experience (one hero side, one villains) so a channel basically wasn't needed. A teaming one might work a little better, although probably not. Isn't there already a "Global" or "General" global channel, which basically no-one uses? -
I haven't really been paying full attention so dunno if it's been mentioned or not but for me one great addition would be a "Teams looking for members" list, a la WAR. It'd let you know what groups are looking for more people, what level ranges they are and who the leader is, along with an optional (ie up to the leader if it's enabled or not) Join Now option for people looking for groups.

Dunno, I can use the EU client to access both, just by copying and renaming the launcher file (removing the .eu from the middle of it). So the EU client supports the US one (don't know about the other way around).

Forum Moderators don't have the best record in the world in knowing NCSofts upcoming plans either. Hell, look what happened to all the other NCSoft EU Mods & Staff.

Quote:Wouldn't it make more sense to take parts of bad guy to your local butchers and earn some cash from selling them?I half expect to see optional endings,
Option 1) Take bad guy to jail, earn influence
Option 2) Take parts of bad guy to jail, earn infamy
Mmmm. Freakburgers.
I'd guess that optional endings are likely to be in GR as well. -
Hey wait, this is over 2 years old! I was wondering why I saw so many old, old names posting at the start, there was a necro-post somewhere along the line.
I didnae have a WS when it was originally posted though so I'll bite : Dark Quasar is my Warshade, just because it sounded suitably SciFi and gloomy.
I've no idea what a Dark Quasar is supposed to be mind. -
Quote:Yep, I'd go crazy with purple insps as well.I'd recommend keeping 3-4 lucks running rather then breakfrees
Its better a Mag 100 hold misses than you try to get out of it.
And floor the difficulty to -1 as well, she'll miss more then as well (number of heroes you're equiv to is up to you, might be handy setting it to 2 or 3, just for feeding Fulc Shift). -
This would be the best approach IMO. Even from a PR viewpoint it would be more "We're unifying our community" as oppose to merging servers which would cause a Chicken Licken "The Sky is falling, the sky is falling" wave of doooom (all my analogies will be based around kids nursery stories for the foreseeable future. Damn things lodge in the brain).

Quote:Well no. If they wanted to they could make an AE specific clone of the mitos and set their XP to 0. But I think they know Mitos are such a niche mob with limited creative options that it's probably not worth the manhour investment to do so.Bringing the Mitos back would undo all the Dev's work on trying to STOP AE farming. So it's definately a no-go; not just the community but the Devs as well.
It's a pity the OP made a mish using that niche. Only thing I could advise is change the story of your mish so the Mito becomes some other insidious Devouring Earth creation and use a Custom Critter to represent it (maybe something Energy Aura based so it looks vaguely blobbish). -
Quote:Why? Claws is still a great set, even post tweak (I refuse to call "Fixing an error" a nerf). It still pips Scrappers in terms of damage with your Fury up (which, with Claws is easy to maintain). It's got great AOE damage, decent single target damage (no real big orange numbers but a nice constant stream of damage) and the best Ranged capabilities of any Brute (especially when you compare Focus to duds like Hurl and Trow rok).New brute set made me actually start a brute and now it got nerfed already and I need to delete it. Is this normal way of things go in COX?
Clueless devs design something and then realize that they made a mistake and hit with nerf stick? What a waste of time.
Quote:EDIT: I guess what needs to be asked is where Claws sits amongst other sets now for ST and AoE output. My gut answer is that it's sitting pretty on both fronts and we should just be happy with what we have. -
Quote:At 51 months now, so I barely qualify. Disappointing that my last 2 lots of Vet Rewards have been so rubbish
for these uber vets, i have 3 question! what toons have you been playing for all this time? have you played one from when you started till now? whats your favourite build?
1) Played mostly Controllers initially, my main is Carnifax, an Illusion/Storm/Ice controller. When Villains came along I also started Masterminds and Corrupters. Recently gotten into Brutes, so now I've 3 Brutes I'm sort of levelling at the same time.
2) Nope. Altitis won't let me do that. I switch between characters and Flavours of the Month all the time (in fact it's more like Flavours of the Day sometimes).
3) Overall probably my Warshade, all things considered. I love the flexibility she has. She plays like 3 alts rolled into one anyway so her playstyle suits me. But she's 50 now so I don't play her that much. Currently my fav is my Dark/WP Brute, who is level 43.5 and has just overtaken my Necro/Dark as my highest villain. Doing the RWZ missions with him at the moment, with the new diff setting he feels really epic wading into massive spawns of Rikti and tearing through them. Sorta trying to push him to 50 to unlock Crabs and Fortunas. -
Quote:This is true. But CoH did used to as close as you'd get to it in fairness. It was one of the chief reasons I hated WoW. There was just none of the "Log on, get random PuG, play for 2 hours with people coming and going" you can get with CoH.Not only that but the "Merge the servers" crowd also always feel they shouldn't have to do more than throw up their LFT flag and invites should fly in. Like the universe revolves around their concieted little arses and players should be fighting for the chance to team with them.
Those people need to get over their sense of entitlement and realize they ain't the unique snowflake they built themselves up to be in their imaginations. There isn't an MMO out there that guaruntees you a team whenever you log on to play.
That said I don't want to merge the servers. I just want to stick em all on one list, so if my Red Side Unionite is having trouble getting a PuG I can switch to Virtue to some alt and try my luck there instead. -

Quote:Make him a cockney Assult Bot and call him ArfurThanks, yes that actually makes sense. It's still utter ridiculous in my opinion but okay, I understand the reason behind it.
The only reference I had in mind was the Arthur in my avatar, and only by name(as that Arthur is an AI. My assault bot...is A without the I.
You can give your other bots nice cockney names too (try Googling Eastenders for some. I recommend RIKKY and Bianca) and give them binds filled with cockney slang and the worst, cheesest lines from Guy Richie films (don't forget "Oi, $target, you slaaaag, fancy a bit of a kickin").
Cockney Rhyming Robot Squad mooooove out. You slaaaags. -
Quote:National Association of State Medicaid Directors (NASMD), apparently. I'm not sure why they're so angry though. Maybe they dislike the idea of EU peeps going over to the US, even in virtual form, in case we bring some foul European disease like the Black Death.Another good point is that there are probably a decent number of French Canadians playing on the NA servers who could move to the French language server, bringing in more people.
FFM makes pretty much all the good points about it though.
Also what does NASMD mean? -
Quote:Nope, you're not alone. I find them incredibly hard too. They're incredibly tough. Especially compared to the crappy Rikti raids.Edit: Oh. Um. About the zombies... 'Too fragile'? I'm more or less forced to abandon any zones they show up in, whenever they do. About the only character I have out of my complete stable that can actually survive around them is my 50 mastermind, and the rest are pretty much doomed to hosping. Am I alone in this?
With Halloween coming up again (I assume we're due another spate of random, unexplained Zombie Raids for no real reason other than "It's Halloween") it'll be "avoid the zombied zone" time again. -
Quote:But Vengie is a clickie, not a pulsing aura, which is what FFGs aura is. Vengie gives you a long lasting buff. FFGs aura gives a short, non-stacking buff over and over again. Are you sure about it? Because powers like vengeance with power build up lasts the whole power duration with the buff.
I assume that since the PFF is a pet, it makes one check only as it's summoned (to see your enhancements) and then remains with that.
Still, I'd like someone to confirm it, someone who can actually test, or have tested.
It's like the difference on how Power Build Up works on Force Fields Deflection Shield (which it boosts for the entire duration of the buff) compared to Dispersion Bubble (which it'll only buff for Power Build Ups duration).
Basically Power Build Up effects will last for either the duration of Power Build Up or the *buffs* duration (not the life of the entity casting the buff), whichever is longest. Since pulsing aura type buffs have a really short duration the bonus won't last long past the life of PBU.
By all means test it though. Testing is good. -
Quote:If it does affect FFG it'll only do so for the duration of the Power Build Up. FFGs aura is basically a toggle / auto aura so and pets inherit the remaining duration of buffs from their caster as well as the values. So after 15 seconds FFGs defense will return to normal values. So I was toying with mids making characters I will never play because I don't have the influence to build and feel too lazy to level...
But I saw something interesting on a traps defender.
I was looking some soft cap'd traps builds and none of them went with power master in order to pick other power to IO for defense...
I checked power mastery and was between power build up and conserve power.. I clicked on the PB-UP and when I checked the force field generator my jaw droped...
34% ALL defenses?!?!
considering maneveurs 4% and weave 7%, your only "bother" is to pop power build up before each FFG to get complete cap to all defenses, and you can make the rest of the build pure recharge and not get gimped at all, hell you don't even need maneveurs with the 3% IO and some 1% from sets or just combat jumping...
For people who may say that your FFG can be destroyed before your PG-Up is recharged, you just get grant invisibility and use after summon, voilá...
Is that working like that in game?
Does Power build up really affects FFG? -
Quote:I saw it in i15 spawns as well. I remember PRAF mentioning it on the EU forums as well. Bosses seem to spawn more often (either as bosses or now downgraded to Lieuts if you've the No Bosses ticked) in Diff 2 and 4 (and their new equivalents) now than they used to. Not sure why.I did a little inquiring yesterday when I noticed an overabundant amount of 2-boss spawns when set to x4, and apparently that has been happening before i16 - it was quite noticeable when you ran in pairs. I suppose that what you're seeing happened before i16 too, just never noticed until now

Quote:The Duration is standard for a hold (bearing in mind AT modifiers, which are low for a MM). Agreed on the recharge being slow. In fact it used to be an even worse hold, the Animation Time was ridiculous. At least they cut that. Now it's more or less on a par with Petrifying Gaze, more or less, at the bottom tier of single target holds (Pet Gaze has an annoyingly slow Projectile speed). My controller likes it, but it lasts longer for him and serves well as a back-up hold for stacking on bosses.I like Flash Arrow. It's nice for using on a closeby spawn in a crowded room to give you a bit more breathing room, and my friends like it for that too.
I might give Ice Arrow the boot tbh. It's nice for taking an LT out of the fight periodically but compared to other ST holds the recharge and duration are horrible until you can get some decent slotting and global recharge into it, and even then it still pales in comparison to other holds.
On a MM it's certainly skippable, you'd get more value from Disruption Arrow in terms of boosting your pets damage.
Quote:To really utilize Disruption properly, you have to set it up. You have to use Glue or OSA or Tenebrous Tentacles or something else to keep a spawn (or another player) in place before you pop Disruption. If you don't like setting up powers like that, if you prefer to just run and gun, then skip it. It'll just sit in your tray and wait for you to remember it's there once in a while, and annoy you. -
-
Quote:Depends on your AT. Personally on my Controller I skipped Flash Arrow. The -ToHit is pretty small and the -perception is only occasionally useful. Poison Gas Arrow isn't the greatest either. It's alright, but not that great. Disruption is more useful than either of them IMO. For a MM I'd drop Flash Arrow myself. While I think you're overxagerrating a bit here (if my tanker didn't have his mez protection he'd be nearly worthless, I doubt it's as severe for a TA that skips Disruption Arrow, not to mention as I've said TA has other means of -Res), since my TA experience is only as far as lvl 30 I'll just go ahead and ask: If you had to skip one power in TA which would it be then if not Disruption Arrow?
I've read Luminara's TA guide and the jist I got about Disruption Arrow from that was that it was "a good power but don't feel bad if you choose to skip it", and he/she seems to be one of the biggest authorities on TA around here so....
Originally I was going to skip EMP Arrow because my friend said it was the most skippable power, but after talking to a higher lvl Thugs/* MM and asking him about how to improve pet survivability (my Arsonist has a 24/7 death wish) he suggested an AoE hold, so after that I opted to take EMP Arrow and dump Disruption since I already had a -Res power in Acid Arrow.
Trick Arrow is good fun, but suffers from having a lot of powers which just seem to be half-powers compared to other debuff sets. It does make up for it somewhat with its top 2 powers though, EMP and Oil Slick are superb powers, but could probably do with some tweaks still. -
It's Ok. It is a one-trick pony, and is far outshined by a lot of other -res powers. For one thing it only does half the -res of Tar Patch, Freezing Rain and Sleet, plus they all have other effects too. Ennervating Field also trumps in in the -Res department, and does -Damage as well.
For a TA it's basically a "must take", since more -res is always useful. But when you look at other, similiar powers in other sets the numbers will make you sad.
It could do with a bit of a buff, say adding some -regen to it as well.
