My hope is that Issue 10 will go live on July 4th.

I have a great speech I want to give in Broadcast on that day.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *Rolls eyes*

I'm sure you can give that speech, regardless of when i10 comes out. Considering that, unlike the Father's Day weekend, July 4 is an American national holidy, I sincerely doubt that Indie Day'll be when i10 comes out.

I'm well aware that the movie bussiness loves to put their opening weekends on holidays these days, but they don't have to worry as much because of the work is done and they don't have to worry about going back to the drawing board if the movie flops.

Regardless of how things get ironed out for i10, there's always bound to be tons of petitions for GMs to deal with that comes with each Issue release.

I'm thinking it'd be at least the week after July 4th for i10 Open Beta.
  2. Busy weekend in RL, not able to play as much as I'd have liked to. Just wish my highest level villain wasn't on Freedom during times like these....

I can just see when the character transfers come in, there's going to be a lot of migrating during these heavy traffic events.

Is street fighting just a mix of kicks/punches/martial arts? Or is it brass knuckles, bats, chains, switchblades and broken bottles? Cuz the former is just a variation on MA/DM and the latter would rule.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I could see the brass knuckles and the bat for Street Fighting, but the chain would have set it back a bit due to physics reasons.

There was probably a thread on this I missed because of weak search-fu, but whatever happened to distributing the 'new powerset for every AT' that was once advertised for the since-cancelled new box edition, among Issues 9-12?

If I9 and I10 come out with no powersets, and the devs are only considering new sets for at most 4 ATs in I11 or I12, what happened to the rest?

Not to bash this efforts, scrappers and tankers need the love first, but is there a long term plan for the rest?

    [/ QUOTE ]

We did plan out Power Sets for the retail box, but we've gone the route of free updates instead (woohoo!). Yep, we had some planned...and we thought about just putting those into updates as schedule permitted...

but then we thought it'd be cool if we polled the players what they wanted first. Not all of these power sets are of equal difficulty - some are tougher than others - but they are all possible. I can't promise exactly when it'll get in, but please know that we've heard loudly and clearly that players want new power sets.

BTW...Ball and Chain was my little addition last minute. It would be just be SO cool!

  6. I've been involved in Star Wars Galaxies and CoH when they were pre-Beta. Star Wars Galaxies was rushed to Live before the major kinks were worked out of the system, just like what happened with Bethseda's Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall.

Player Cities, mounts, vehicles, starships, and heck even Jedi were held back because they weren't ready to implement when the game went Live. There were major rubberbandings, mind-numbing lag (even in areas where you are the only one in miles around), memory leaks of the likes of Old Faithful, etc. Eventually the big features were brought into the game, but the actual content remained miniscule at best.

PvP conscent was a good system, allowing characters to duel in the streets, but it was easily griefed by those who went around goading people to fight. TEFs (Temporary Enemy Flags) was one of the worst parts of the system, which forced people who would have liked to be involved in the Factions but had character who weren't ready for PvP combat to be flagged as an open target to those who'd outclass them (high level/skilled and equipped players).

Getting rid of TEFs was the best part of the Combat Upgrade. People could still PvP, and be flagged for it when they want to, while those who perferred to blow up PvE enemy factions could do so without being ambushed by players. By no means did PvP dry up and disappear. It just meant there were less griefing.

Actually, a lot of people that I knew in the game was really excited about having Jedi when you had to unlock certain kinds of professions (which ones needed was random to the character). Personally, it helped temper the want to have a Jedi character.

Did half the servers disappear after CU and the Jedi 'grind'? Not hardly, though CU did put a hamper on the range of weapons players could have access to. Then again, the actual amount of weapons was slightly increased.

One of the worst aspects of SWG was that the content really centered on combat. If you weren't focused on a totally combat character, good luck being able to go on hunts, which was the only real way to explore and get/complete missions.

The only other real option was to totally focus on being a crafter/merchant. Nice to make cash, but if you're not all that interested in what amounted to a grind in a different respect....

At least in the begining, before 'New Game Experience', you had the choice of mixing and matching the professions your character had. I had a Master Pistoleer/Master Artisan/Master Droid Engineer. I was able to go along on hunts, and still be of use in the field.

NGE was shoved down players' throats, with little to no consulting with the players (or at least when they did, the community had no idea what was in store). It forced the game play to radically change and people were pigeon-holed into so called 'iconic' professions.

This system in itself was a bug fest all over again.

The only thing that kept SWG somewhat afloat is the concept that it's supposed to be a game based on Star Wars.

Games that were better implemented and had better features trounced SWG, not because of the degree of PvP over PvE SWG had/supposedly had. CoH and EQII drew a lot of disenfranchised players before WoW came along. And CoH didn't have PvP content at all at the time.

Everyone has their own idea of what level or degree of PvE/PvP that they are willing or wanting to play. Considering the number of people who don't want to constantly PvP in CoH, it would be a very bad business decision to pull out the PvE and concentrate on PvP.

If PvP is what rocks your world, then you are more than welcome to it, as there are areas for that to happen in CoH/V.

While an interesting article, these Wings have been finished since Issue Eight went live, with the exception of the Tech Wings I believe. Did it really take Jay the entirety of the months since then to make a few pairs of boots and one set of wings? Furthermore, the drop rate for these new Wings is so poor that Jay may as well not have wasted his time creating them, as a teeny, tiny, minority of players will benefit from his work if the situation is not improved.

    Nope, it was Zombie Tradesman.
  9. It's interesting that SWG was 32, while it's first expansion JtL(Jump to Lightspeed) ranked 4 slots higher with 28.

It definitely made SWG cooler, but things went downhill from there. One might say JTL was SWG's peak.

What's with the new Cryptic logo?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Consortium Conglomerate of the Rogue Islands sued Cryptic Studios of Paragon City for the rights to the logo, which happens to be of the Hellforge in Sharkhead Island. While it seemed that the Consortium was going to back down, with a new corporate logo (three swirls in the shape of a triangle), Cryptic Studios decided to change/update their own logo as to avoid further litigations.

Streamline account updating to allow credit card information to be updated without having to cancel and reactivate the account. Under the current system, if you have a new card that's replacing an expiring card, you have to cancel your account and reactivate it again using the updated information.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well I changed my Credit Card info on the account page last Sunday (which was my 2 year vet reward day btw) as my previous card expired in Feb 2007. I changed it to a completely different card without having to cancel my subscription. Just clicked "Manage Card(s) on File" and then "Change Card". Granted I haven't had a billing cycle on it yet but it shows the info for the new card on my account page.

    [/ QUOTE ]

At the time I made the request a second time, they said it was unavailable at the time and to (once again) post it on the forums. Since it was a totally different card, rather than updating the info to a renewed card, there may be a difference anyway.

At the beginning of this month, I entered a time card for one of my accounts I've set up for a family member and noticed some changes to the account page, such as log in (included new user registration on the same page).

Another new feature was a selection of accounts to apply the gamecard, not just the one you click on in the Game Management page.

Hopefully the advanced notice of account expiry date will be coming soon. Since my account expired just expired recently (definitely no advanced warning at the time), I had no problem with changing the info of my card one way or the other.

As I said before MSN sends out e-mails to notify time of renewal, which PlayNC needs to impliment as well. Less time the account is down the better.
  12. I finally found out that the award time is supposed to be the end of the month that you are due the award. So for the 33rd, it was the end Feburary, rather than some time before. Which means I was one of the people who got it earlier than planned.
    *****
    *****

I'd like to mention a few changes that would improve the PlayNC.com Account Page and affiliated billing issues.

*Have a warning about one week in advance of account expiry. This will allow warning to those who need to either make sure their credit card(s) are payed up and up to date or be able to buy a time card.

Not everyone lives within walking distance of a store that offers a time card, and this would allow people to arrange for a way of getting the card before the account expires.

*Streamline account updating to allow credit card information to be updated without having to cancel and reactivate the account. Under the current system, if you have a new card that's replacing an expiring card, you have to cancel your account and reactivate it again using the updated information.

These improvements will reduce the amount of time that an account is inactive, which affects such things as Veteran Reward times. When the system is working right, there may be a few minutes (esp. if you are putting in a time card code) or more until your account is reactived. When it's down for whatever reason, it can take a lot longer. And a person could add even more time to inactive accounts depending on what time of the day it is and if you are busy at work or what have you.

Inactive accounts, regardless of how short the time was, affects your Vet Reward times. And there's more than a few people who ended up getting their rewards late at night thanks to when the account expires and it's reactivated.

(I tried posting these suggestions before in the Suggestion threads, but nothing came of it. I'm hoping that someone looks at this thread and passes these suggestions to the right people in NC Soft).

I am listening to your ideas, but a Flashback system is simply not something we can implement in a timeframe you would all be happy with.

Instead we are looking into other options to get you the Pool B choice so level 50s don't feel gimped.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In the meantime, is it possible to retroactively give Story Arc drops to those who had completed Story Arcs prior to I9? After all, Story Arcs are recorded under Clues/Suveniers.

I know it doesn't make up for missed Story Arcs, but at least high level characters who had been able to do the Arcs would still be able to get the drops.

    Drops II

    [ QUOTE ]
Ok, I've read the majority of that monster thread I created titled "Drops".

Remember, if you kill that thread, it won't drop a recipe.

Now I hear you guys... you all seem to dislike the Story Arc aspect of this system. I've had some discussions with the team yesterday about what we could do instead, and still keep the flavor of the four pool system, because having the extra three pools allows us to not only reward risk/reward, but time/reward as well. Takes longer to do a Task Force? Here's a nice bonus you can't get anywhere else. Finish the Respec trial, but already have all your Respecs? Here's a nice reward that carries with it some good inherent value.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Darn, I guess no recipes for thread killing must be by design

I understand that missing out on story arcs because the character ended up leveling up before given the chance to get them from a contact (such as when going on TFs and larger teams in general, double XP weekends and other events, and I guess I should throw in PLers), which would mean a lot of missed story arcs.

Would be nice to know if it's rewarded even if it's been a while since a character has done the story arcs.

One thing's for sure, story arc recipe drops sounds like another good reason to have the 'Flashback/solo-exemping' system.
  16. Quick update, I found the e-mails I got from PlayNC, not only from the time I'd set up the beta account of CoH, but also an e-mail about the live account on April 28th, 2004, and about the time I requested a password the next day, since I forgot it (I was playing SWG and other games at the time that required passwords and I lost the paper that they were written on).

I PM'd Lighthouse about it, and that there were other's also affected by the strange Reward times. Hopefully this can be cleared up, even if it has to go through a lot of channels.

I'm thinking they were relying on billing times, rather than actual start times for the Veteran Rewards. Before, my billing date was on the 28th, but when I was updating my credit card (my older one was expiring and I'd just got a replacement), I had to cancel it and restart it with the new card. Which accounts for why my billing date now revolves around the 31st of the month, rather than the 28th.

Maybe this is why so many people have funky reward times, including another friend who got his reward a couple days before the 28th. I'll have to ask my friend to ask him when his billing date is to confirm this.

[/ QUOTE ]You sound spoiled is all

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, just seeking answers to why there are such discrepencies between different accounts. If that's considered spoiled by your account, then by all means just ignore it instead of posting linkies.

I'm not the only one affected by it, and I wouldn't doubt there are more that just either didn't realize it or just sent in in-game bugs or petitions (which I already had done).

For the most part, my account was syncronized with my friend's account until the 33rd month. Another in this thread mentioned a difference of a month even though he had his account active since Beta like mine has been.

Next award time may see an even greater difference between one account and another even if the same time and money was spent.

This thread is supposed to help point out errors in the Account page, and this relates/affects the times in which the awards are given. Therefore this is the right place to post it.

Spoiled is when a person unjustifiably expect the world for oneself. I only expect equal reward time for everyone who stuck with CoH/CoV from the get go, or else that would be unfair to everyone, not just one or two people. Eventually down the line, if this isn't taken care of, it'll effect everyone.

  19. I've been told nothing is wrong in Account Management, but between bugs in game and in AM (which don't seem to mesh for the most part, I'd say it needs to be looked into.

Supposedly in a future patch, they are fixing the reward times ingame, such as the ones who (by no fault of their own) got their rewards earlier than expected and wind up getting tonnes of questions of how they got them and all that.

Would be great if that patch would also fix it for those who wound up with delays in Vet Reward times.
  20. An update on my friend's 33rd, it now says the 28th of January. I sent a petition about my time, considering that there's about a four day difference (28th, 29th, 30th, 31st) between my friend's and my award time. But they tell me it's a tough cookies type of situation.

Most of my problems with the Account Management is the times it's down when I've been trying to keep my account going (like the time I had to use my other credit card, put on a time card, or when my card was expiring). The time lost thanks to maintenance delayed the time I was supposed to get the 33rd month.

I hope that, in the future at least, that PlayNC puts that into consideration, as well as ensure that updating a credit card's info doesn't require having to cancel account and then start it up again from scratch. While it was interesting to have seen what kind of survey they have asking what would bring you back to City of Heroes (at the time CoV was in it's Alpha/Beta phase), it was definitely distracting considering that I never thought of leaving the game.

Before Veteran Rewards, a few lost days wouldn't have mattered. But now it's a different ballgame.
  21. Ok.

I know there was some problems with rewards granted earlier than they are supposed to (some people were sighted with the 33rd rewards and at least one wth a pet on the Live servers), which goes to show it's not all that reliable.
  22. Thank you for the link.

The difference between Dec. 28th and Jan. 31st is a big enough difference for alarm bells to go off, esp. when any time that was missed over the years shouldn't have amounted to that (or even close).
  23. My friend and I have been on City of Heroes since beta. She'll be getting her 33rd month in Dec. 28th, while I'm getting mine on Jan. 31st. I don't recall ever having my account being behind 30+ days. I've had problems with renewing my account due via the Account management, esp. when it goes down. But I don't understand why there's such a huge gap between myself and my friend.
  24. Extensive guides or quick, but to the point guides?
