I still say we dismantle Infinity and split it between Freedom and Virtue. <throws out two pennies> :P
-
Cap out at 6 published arcs, purchase one for 50 bucks, another for fifty, another for another fifty :P
This will keep it down on the server end. If you let everyone purchase ten more arcs, we'll crash something in a day.
Hard cap at 6 should include a dev choice and a HoF, thatwould discourage kneejerk buying. Would make the custoemr think "Now do I really wanta potentially throw money away?", thus keeping a soft control on your userbase. -
You are never going to get rid of it. EVER. These guys are like viruses, everytime the devs made a move to counter them, they evolved and continued.
o.o They gave us a spam button for a reason, I use it when an unfavorable RMT sends me spam :P Though a longer and seperate global ignore for spammers would be something I'd be all for. -
Christ I'd be hesitant to even post a thought if after reading how vicious you all are o.@ It's like sharks waiting for someone to fall off a plank!
Granted it's a double post but, damn o.0
-C.A. -
How frowned on would I be if I used a created arc, overwrote it line by line, republished, thus keeping my old number, and entirely redid what was in it?
Thoughts? -
Here's a repost of my farming thoughts o.@
Subjective Feedback:
I think one of the main issues Ive found is that everyones got a knee jerk reaction to this. Farming has been happening regardless of this tool. Yes. It is easier now, but it will occur whether you wish it to or not. I agree with those that say its their money they should be able to play the way they want. I performed an experiment the other night and in one hour as a level 1 dominator I went from 1 to 18 in less then 45 minutes on one run.
Alot of the following is my opinion and a theory, take it as much!
This is somewhat frightening, but not doom. There may need to be something implemented and probably IS going to be. The reason they more then likely arent doing anything is that would skew their numbers. A launch that was delayed this long more then likely made shareholders or someone higher then Positron nervous and they wanted proof it was worth while. Solution? Reactivate all accounts. Full Exp and Inf for everything AE based. DO this for x amount of time. Datamine your numbers. Present. Then when its deemed alright, go in and fix the issues some have with it being a farm fest. This also frees up content to be created for a possible sequel game, a graphical upgrade, and pre-planning against the onslaught of CO and DCUO. You may lose some in the mix, but those are acceptable losses. Lets face it, were not important. The money is. Thats the way its always been whether anyone admits it or not, its about bottom line. I dont like it, but I accept that.
End Theory
Now onto the feedback!
Something I recommend is that you implement a formula that could possibly punish for farming:
<ul type="square">[*]Use your data collectors to average out the high end levelers. Take the average amount of levels and put that as a cap you can safely attain PER 24 hours cycle. Any level after that runs a 10% risk of losing a level back to the safe cap. Each additional level then runs an additional 2% chance to roll back, capping at somewhere near 75%. This would encourage swapping and alting, one of the rather strong elements of the game. Roleplayers wouldnt have an issues levels arent what RP is about. PVPers wont have an issue since they dont really do much as it is :P Casuals wont be affected. Hardcores will know their numbers as any hardcore would. The only punishment? [u]Farmers.[u][*]Issues a three strike rule on farming maps, but by god make sure your maps your banning are farming maps. Make a support member actually play the thing, most of your support is canned responses from someone who is either too busy to deal with you or doesnt care about their job. (Keyword:Most)
[*][u]1st strike[u]: a warning and an open forum with the support member who flagged it on how you see it as not a farming map and they do. Compromise. [*][u]2nd strike[u]: Ban for [u]72 hours[u], datamine their time and see where their account logs in the most. Hit them THERE at their peak times. Or let them be unteamable, theres a code in there for that, you know it :P Im sure a three day cruise of Im street patrolling will let them think over their stance.[*][u]3rd strike[u]: A 6 month ban from the MA system, and all missions unpublished, remove badges remove any influence and exp obtained from such at no refund possible. Hit them in their superbase as well.[*]Datamine and obtained the names of anyone theyve teamed with on their farms and anyone whose not reported it via cross-referencing. Issue them a warning for not turning in the content. [*][u]Additional Suggesstion:[u] After so many exp runs in the MA, reduce the exp and inf and prestiage gained by a mathematical formula eventually starting to take away from your stockpiles of all. Make this number [u]High[u]. Have the system issue a warning before and after the threshold.
Extreme? Maybe, but it sounds like everyone wants this to stop NOW. Im not one of them but Im getting tired of watching people argue in broadcast like we used to argue in PVP zones. No I shouldnt have to turn off my broadcast :P Thats like the doctor saying well dont do that!. :P
Now your star / ratings system, thats a [u]whole new issue all together[u]. I understand that the idea of keeping the playerbase busy bickering with each other. Its a fine idea. BUT, you empower them too much, and its possible for it to either explode, or level out. Highwire act in my opinion. :P Again, an entire other issue! =)

I'd like clarification on that too, my base builder's on pins and needles and despite having falcon's post the on site warning remains.

<Points to Sig> Star me I'll star you, leave me a message with the numbers, my list is getting short!
-C.A. -
I believe this started as a farming thread, or am I in the wrong place? I made some interesting discoveries the last few days as i played Investigator o.o I drew some conclusions as well.
BUT if I'm int he wrong place I won't post them here :P
-C.A. -
I have to admit that entire spawning in Cap Au was epic as well, The Phalanx, Deathsurge, and a zombie invasion all at once was lagtastic, but very epic :3
That just goes to show nothing can stop the villains, muhahhahaha!
-C.A. -
Hmm I might try that, I thought you could have as many defends as you wantedbut after six ambushes chained, you couldn't have anymore?
-C.A> -
Defendable objects spawn an ambush, you can have three of them :P
-
I wouldn't doubt it :P The best I can gather since launch the reviewers and public don't like:
<ul type="square">[*]An arc with characters based on the creators player list[*]Arcs that have the creators friends in them, character or otherwise[*]Arcs where you use a stranger's character[*]Arcs tat use current contacts[*]Arcs that use current objects as contact[*]An Arc thats about a person's SG[*]an Arc thats about in game canon[*]Arcs that are about a character's view of life[*]An arc with more then a paragraph worth of text in the whole thing, clues included o.x[*]Arcs that use defeat alls[*]Arcs that require you to do something other then beat ot steal something in the last room[*]Arcs that use escorts or allies[*]Arcs that use destroyable or defendable objects[*]Arcs that have bosses with knockback protection[*]Arcs that have Patrols or ambushes[*]Arcs that have a map larger then small is apparently a sin[*]Arcs that use custom critters[*]Arcs that use in game factions other then freakshow, 5th Column or Council[*]Arcs with no Plot, theme, or morale lesson.[*]Arcs with too much Plot, theme, or morale lesson
So if I get this right, the only proper thing to do is make a radio mission with freaks on a tiny map? I find myself ripping my hair out at the public outcry as I attempt to satisfy them. *facefault*
-C.A. -
Hmm, as enthusiast as you are, you appear to be in the wrong thread :P But congrats on getting an arc up ^_^
Can someone move this for this fellow?
-C.A. -
Thats kinda dangerous what if there's a backwards exploitable bug? :P Something they never thought of prior to locking it? o.@
-C.A. -
Yeah, where IS dis thread to post in? :P
-
Oh man, and this was such a good idea....can we get an offical ruling on this?
-C.A. -
Thanks for all your feedback everyone ^_^ This has given me a bit to think about!

<ul type="square">[*]I believe the farming will drop off in par with whatever numbers the devs have projected. WE as well as THEY had to know this was going to be an issue at launch. The shiney will drop off soon enough.
[*]If they institute a penalty for playing AE missions that might ward off the players that are farming. However, I see no issue right now aside from the lag waves that are bottlenecking near the areas with AE buildings. IF this trend continues you may have network issues and systematic crashes. IF, that is IF, the problem increases exponetially. [*]I would like to be able to purchase more publishing slots as well, the only people that are getting dev picks are friends and family and those with networking. Granted I can see a dev saying those are the only people that make decent missions, but still :P I wouldn't mind the publishing slots being given as vet rewards perhaps every two years?[*] HoF is a issue. You may need to revamp your entire rating system. I watched one GET hoF and then watched as it dropped within, minutes, by people attacking it with one stars. This can't be the system you envisioned. Though I can see that the longer they fight the longer they stay in the game.[*]You may need to ip your support team. The missions flagged for farming when the word farming and badges are in the text should be gone, not still up. They also republish. Possible increase in support staff may help sift out the farming issues. If you restrict thoe banned for CONFIRMED, (by confirmed I mean you've investigated, not simply taken a players word for it) farm missions should lose all access to the AE for x amount of time.[*]Increase or implement a dev a week or day to play missions in search of a dev pick. Don't make it "Find one!" make it a incentive at the office. No one likes to be forced to do anything :P[*]Increasing the ticket cap may be worth investigating.[*]Adding a new search flag for [u]Looking for AE team[u] may be worth looking into as well. Too many people I know, myself included, are getting spammed by tells and our ignore list is overflowing with Spam globals as it is :P
Thats my feedback for now!

[ QUOTE ]
Subjective: The ceiling of 9999 tickets held is too low. When a gold class roll is 5000ish, I would like the ability to save up tickets and make a few rolls at once rather than having to make them one at a time.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to agree with this after a few weeks of live. Despite the thoery I have it's to prevent hording, it may be worth investigating if we can safely up the threshold of tickets to a larger amount. It's very disappointing to end up getting Lock Down or something you can't use, twice in a row, and then finding out the market isn't even taking your silly recpie except for 100 inf :/ Maybe double the amount.
Problem: Unfair to those that already earned the badges for overflow. Those in possession of the overflow badges are in better possession as opposed to after proposed upgrade, making it more timeconsuming.
However, the more time consuming something is the longer your player base will stay intact, especially the obsessed ones.

Alright I here by submit 1033 for epics, I have this funny feeling I'm going to regret this :P 4 missions lone less then 100 ratings. Revamped since Venture's review told me I was designing missions somewhat wrong. Hope it's better the second time around!

Interesting viewpoints on this, I thank each and everyone of you!
You've helped me understand a bit better ^_^ Also I must go buy eggs ^_~
