CaptA if it was as short as the time of the ouroboros portal you'd never see anyone out on the streets anymore.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't believe I said it should be that short. -
Cool pack and all, but 2 hours recharge on the mission teleporter? Seriously, at least 2 times too long a recharge period.

These have what to do with Shields, exactly? -

Which crimps into me saving up for other things, such as our first teleporter, or a medical bay.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, that one paper/radio mission will probably cramp your expansion quite a bit.
/sarcasm off
I remember when it was based on total worth, so it was not unheard of to be paying 50k+ a month for that same "free plot" you got to use. When they finally made it based on plot size, I settled on 200k at a time since that was what my wife and I could afford and still be able to save additional funds. Let's see: 200k for 2 people vs. 800 for 3 people. Really, you have a strong case there.
Seriously, the more people complain about going from free to a pittance of a fee, the less sympathy I have for them. Do a mission and earn your rent. If you wait for the power to go out, you are only paying every 6 weeks anyway. -
Very clever! I especially like the wheelchair.

Where do you get the statue from? I have a really good idea that that would be perfect for.
Thanks so much.
[/ QUOTE ]
The statue is the Mystic Adviser Control Aux item. You craft it on one of the Forges. (I want to say the 2nd one.)
*****
Not sure if this would count as an "item" or not... but here's a mountain I build out of rubble and various random arcane junk: (note that since the base is an undersea lab, the room is normally very dark blue, but I had to turn the lights up so you could see any kind of detail in the screenies)
Starting at the bottom.
The base of the mountain, and the Tunnel that goes through it.
The Tunnel Entrance. I'm goin in, around the bend, I can see the light, at the end of the tunnel, and emerge into some sunken ruins.
Here's the View of the lab from the Mountain Top, and a view of the mountain through the Conference Room Windows.

Very cool and very creative! -
I like the Day Jobs feature overall, since it adds flavor to the game. I am mostly concerned with the badges for my main character, and based on that I feel 21 days is too long for the badge. Even when it was set at 30 days, I was lobbying for 14 days. Since the bonuses from these jobs are charged up before you even get the badge, it seems to me that there is little harm in rewarding the badge sooner.
Overall, cool idea and I think it's a nice addition. -

As a recent returnee post-13 I have only one issue with base changes ...
... 15k plus 100 rent for a 30 space salvage rack? 500 per slot?
[/ QUOTE ]
Really not sure from where you are getting the "15k". You only get charged rent now (100 prestige) per bin and empowerment stations. I'm on the largest secure plot maxed out on storage and my rent is 2700 prestige. -
I am currently using (for my huge building project to be revealed in the next week or two) safes and floor tiles. These are the large white square floor tiles. It works well and allows me to stack multiple items at once. Occasionally I will use a desk if I want to stack some small items on top of another (as in my guide).

NOTE:
To recoup Base plot costs, you can simply buy the same plot. I will add that to the top.
[/ QUOTE ]
Is there a guide to that somewhere....rebuilding? Or a good post? with several old bases that don't need changes or prestige, can/should I just leave thing alone?
seeing stuff like needing Hami Goo for telepads......
[/ QUOTE ]
They took out the Hami goo for telepads.
In order to recoup cost differences now, all you need to do is go into the editor after issue 13 hits. -
They didn't refund rent paid when they changed the system the first time, so I would not expect it now.

Group: The Infinity Legion
Server: Freedom
Side: Heroes
Size/Value: 20x20 hidden plot, somewhere around 30 million prestige
Anything else: I'm not big into the magic desks/floating thing, although I have done some of this. My design philosophy is that a base has to look like a place where someone would want to work, live, and play. I'm into details.
Welcome to the base building community, Sunstorm. If you are game I'd be happy to give you a tour. -
Base Repricing
1) How will the repricing of bases affect you personally?
Well, I will be able to go to the largest plot and have some freedom to play around with the base design. I've been on the 20x20 plot for quite some time now, and this change will allow me a chance to add some rooms that I have been wanting to add.
2) Will you dismantle your base to gain the additional prestige from the repricing?
As stated, I will be changing the plot size, which will earn me a chunk of prestige. I will also likely replace a few of the big items, like the AES and Turbine generator. Anything beyond that would require too much time and effort.
3) How long would this process take you if you were to engage in this practice?
If I were to tear it all down and start over? I will say 200-300 hours. It's just not worth my effort despite the loss in prestige.
4) What are the positive and negative concerns regarding repricing?
Cheaper is better, no doubts about that. I just wish you guys had taken the time to write a script to refund the difference. I find it difficult to believe that this was an impossibility.
5) How will this feature affect you long term and short term?
Short term, I will have some building to do. Long term? Not much at all, since my base as it is is totally complete and functional. Until some new functionality (auction access, tailor, tram access, etc.) is added, the base is done save decorative concerns.
Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage
1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?
I've wasted a lot of time collecting salvage that is no longer going to be used for anything. "Brainstorms" are fine and all, but I really fail to see the need for this new system. It wasn't broken, but you went and fixed it.
I am concerned about the effects on the market.
The storage limits in place are a joke. Thirty pieces per bin is just a joke. Most of my bins will be tied up for legacy storage of event salvage and base components for later use.
2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?
If I need a rare piece of salvage for an IO recipe, I will have another means to get it besides paying for it at the market.
3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?
3 minutes, +/- 3 minutes.
4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?
Issues with the market, which IMO has already become an un-fun extension of PvP. I expect prices will be wonky for awhile. I am also really concerned about the effect on empowerment stations. I fear that they will become even less useful now.
5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?
None for me, since my SG has become just my wife and myself.
Additional Notes:
I don't think that the change to the salvage system will hurt me as badly as it will to some of my fellow SG leaders. I don't have to worry about certain issues, such as coaxing contributions from SG members anymore. However, I do think you removed a system that was fine as is and then gave a reason behind it ("Salvage found" message confusing and disappointing players) that frankly smacks of dishonesty.
Overall, a lot of the changes are good - new pricing being the bulk of this. Your implementation was horrible. A lot of the angst on these boards could have easily been avoided. If we'd had this discussion 2 months ago it would have gone much better for all parties involved. -
Real beds
Beertaps (Pocket D)
Liquor bottles (Pocket D)
Seperator walls as Greyhawke described
Vending machines, pool tables, slot machines. etc. We need fun stuff
More wall art
Computers with keyboards
Standalone workstations - basically the computer that is attached to several decorative objects and the tech teleporters
Those would make me happy. -

anyone know what the AES costs now??

Yeah, I was looking for this myself. -
Wow, that is pretty impressive! I just wish they would give us some real stools.

Are the invasions announced in the chat window like the other zone events?
-
Chad made some of the points I would have responded with, so I will just say I agree with him. In addition, I just wanted to say something about the length of time in question.
As it is currently, there are 12 badges available with the Day Jobs feature, with the likely addition of more since they said that not all are represented here. At best someone could get all 12 of those in a year of time. One year = 12 badges. That's a lengthy bit of time. Lowering the time per badge to 15 days will still cost someone 6 months to get them all. Six months is long but much better than a year. In contrast, I recently went about getting the flashback badges on my badge character (I don't like exemping, so it was an effort) and did them all in just a few weeks. That was about 80 badges or so. If a badge collector wants to really increase his badge collection is a short period, it's a good way to do it. 2 weeks for ~80 badges vs. 1 year for 12.
I'm not sure what is behind the resistance is to lowering the time needed, especially since they will probably be adding on to the list. I'm willing to put the time and effort into getting these things, but I think the devs can lower the time needed without breaking the game. -
Hey! No creative editing!

And, yes, there are people that "can't wait for the badges", and ones that have to have them "now".
[/ QUOTE ]
Name them.
Oh, BTW, the Wizard of Oz called. They need their Straw Man back.
[/ QUOTE ]
CaptA for one apparently.
I'm sure if you dig through these forums you will see many more based on what I can guess from the implications in his message.
[/ QUOTE ]
Please point out where I said I wanted these badges "now". I will be waiting. -
[ QUOTE ]
Badge hounds are going to go crazy about getting ALL the badges - NOW - because they HAVE to have them ALL. I can understand that mentality. It still keeps Pokemon going - "Gotta catch them all!"
[/ QUOTE ]
This is disingenuous and I am tired of people saying it like it is fact. Nobody is asking for these badges "now". People are asking for them SOONER than one year. If you can't understand or don't care that badgers don't want to wait that long, then your opinion on the length of time doesn't really matter. I've seen nobody in this thread (to my recollection) suggest anything less than 10 days of offline time per badge. I personally think 14 or 15 days would be fine. Neither me nor anyone else is suggesting "now". -
Nobody needs to post in reply to you since you seemed to have both sides of the conversation all tied up.
Also, just FYI: just because you don't care doesn't mean others don't. Welcome to an internet message board. -
A lot of great suggestions here, and I will only add one:
Reduce the time to attain these badges to 10-15 days. -
[ QUOTE ]
You, and most others complaining about this, are completely missing how this will work.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, we aren't.
[ QUOTE ]
It's cumulative time, measured in seconds. So if you play a character every day for 4 hours a day, you're still racking up 20 hours off offline time PER DAY. So you get 83% credit for a day offline for every calendar day that goes by.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, ok. Not that much of a mystery.
[ QUOTE ]
How is this so worthy of angst?

Because....

In a 5 weeks you'll have your "month offline badge"
