Very happy about this. My arc is sitting at 99%, sometimes more and sometimes less depending on patches. Between custom groups, custom contacts, color altered normal groups, mechanics, and required text there is no room to really expand on the story.
Can not wait for this -

Quote:They are the most "Searched" tags. Eggs vs Bacon got modsmacked a few days back, along with Tunnel Rats Rule!. This leaves Cobra! and a few others at the top of the most popular to use list.If you go to Advanced Search you can see a Tag Cloud of the most popular tags. For some weird reason "Eggs vs Bacon" is our most prolific / "useful" tag
Although I see the forementioned Undrn3t tag has been getting around too.
The fact that people are actually searching on Eggs vs Bacon does surprise me a bit. I am going to have to work on that...
I mean.....what? -

GO GO GO!!!! -
For lower levels I think Jacobs Ladder is the better choice. Later on, when your AoE attack chain is more developed, I can see dropping it. I prefer it myself, never have a hard time hitting at least 2 mobs.

There should be a rule about this type of thing....

I am still waiting for my comissions to come in.

The super secred 2d side-scrolling version of CoH

Wp/Elec is very fun. I did end up picking Stamina a bit earlier than my WP/SS, but that was due to me soloing more and wanting a quick attack chain.

Wonderful review. I am glad you decided to give it a run, I was a bit worried based on your message that you would skip it.
To comment on your minor points list first
- Crey is hard capped at lvl 45. They are designed to be weaker than the invading robots. In past constructions of the MA an odd thing would happen at lvl 45+, Crey would win the battles every single time. Since Crey should be in trouble, at least story wise, I capped the filler mobs with agents.
- Face design...I never noticed that but you are quite correct. They "should" have different face shapes however...not sure if that got translated into the MA very well.
- Mission 4 map...I seem to remember having trouble fitting everything in with a smaller map. It does drag on a bit and, at higher difficulty levels, causes problems with some of the allies. I will look into this as well as the toxin canisters.
- Yes, the minions are designed to look plastic except for the MK-III who has a darker and more metallic tone.
On to the big point...poor poor Minkia
This arc is based on an RP from a while back. As such several of the characters are of my own design, including Minkia, Dark Veil, Susan Veil, MK-VI (Formerly Calash MK-II). Minkia, for the RP, interacted with a singular male contact that she helped coordinate the downfall of her boss by manipulating him. She is a flirt, but does so with the sole intentions of getting her way.
Trying to translate this to a MA was not easy, and I ended up with the flirting dialog that you get now. Since the arcs creation I have often wondered if I should rewrite the dialog for Susan being the contact. She would approach it more like a standard street contact, with a mix of emotional attachment as she struggles to not only stop her brother but try to redeem him in some way. The downside is that this would change the feel of the arc. Do you think this would benefit the story?
The MK-IV is weaker in the final mission, and you can get some help if you plan it right. In mission 4 I try to balance him against the assistance you get in the mission. I will take a look and make some adjustments however...perhaps healing flames is a bit too much.
I am very glad you enjoyed the missions themselves. I sometimes think I went a bit too far with the mechanics..I am glad they worked well for you.
Great feedback, thank you. Do not worry about being harsh, I appreciate the honesty -
Cals random Shadow Shard theory of the day.
Rularuu eats dimentions. He has done so for eternity. The question we should ask is why.
Why does he consume? Why were we the only world to stop him?
I believe that we gained the advantage, in part, due to The Dream Doctor. This fits in well with him once being part of Rularuu, perhaps even an aspect. We read his text as him shaving off a piece, but what if it was the other way. Part of Rularuu, out of a sense of guilt, shaved off one of his aspects that became the Dream Doctor. This created a chain of events that trapped Rularuu in the shard.
As to why he consumes I came up with a random theory for that as well. He is a living universe. Think Marvel, and how planets and stars can gain intelligence. Now put that on a grand scale. He eats to grow, to become the only universe. In this way Rularuu is both an entity and a place. A place that modern portal technology can access.
If this holds any truth then the shard is not just his mind, but him. -
Got up to lvl 23 so far. I think I invested too much in team powers as he is now soloing like a turtle, even with a full patrol bonus. Plus the lack of good drops has stunted my influance and keeping me from slotting up lvl 25 IOs.
The lower levels played really well and I gained several soloing the sewers. Jacobs ladder is a great lower level power.
If I cannot hook up with a team tonight I will respec out of Tough and Taunt and aim for more help in other areas, possibly working toward Stamina to make up for lack of endurance redux for the moment. Doing that would let me focus on slotting Accuracy, something that is really bugging me at the moment. -
In no real order
Fire/SS - Fire in general is a great Solo set. Paired with SS it becomes an self contained damage machine. Teaming takes some more work but it is worth it for the flexibility
Shield/Elec - A very nice mix of solo and group capability. Double Tele-AoE and a wide array of multi-target attacks with an energy component. If you team a lot with a defender who can throw some +def your way it becomes a great tank in the lower levels, before you can push your own numbers up.
WP/Elec - Another good mix of solo and group capability. Lower levels are a breeze, and you can max out WP fairly quickly. The lack of a self-heal and heavy +def can hurt against some exotic damage types but a good team will counter that.
WP/SS - Similar to WP/Elec but fewer muilt-target attacks. Feels better suited to the team environment, especially once you get FootStomp going. -

Quote:We do know that the aspects of Rularuu were once mortals like us. This is quoted during one of the task forces. That would suggest that the worlds he consumes survive in some form.Since I can't quote the quote (easily) I'll quote your mention of it.
Here's something interesting, both about the name of the Dream Doctor and about the things he says. He talks about the dreamspace, and shaving a piece off himself, not unlike how an aspect can be shaved off the whole and lead to madness, if we buy into that theory. But the thing is, it makes sense. If we believe that Rularuu is trapped within his own mind, a master of dreams would be the perfect man to do this. And, really, what prison can hold a ravager of dimensions with such cosmic powers, but the prison of his own mind, where his own power is keeping him trapped?
It makes sense to me, at least.
If what you suggest is true it brings up an interesting thought. The actions of the midnight squad have driven Rularuu mad. The shard, if that is a form of his mind, was originally intact and had order. It could be that his entrapment was the catalyst that shattered his mind, and therefore the shard.
It will not be a good day when he wakes up.... -
If you must pick one the Build Up is the better power hands down.
However if you can fit both that is what really makes Fire shine. -
Quote:Uuralur the mirror is master of the Guarden of Reflections. Based on the various texts floating around the Shadow Shard Reflections may or may not be from our world. Some suggest that they may be memories of other dimentions that Rularuu has already devoured and are kept as a memento of the lost worlds.
- Uuralur says "oo, new toys" and creates shadow duplicates of all of them.
This actually fits well into the shard being the mind of Rularuu.
As to the lore, I remember reading about the Shard being created to trick Rularuu. He came for our Paragon but saw the shard, created by the Midnight Squad, and went there only to be trapped.
There is also an interesting quote about the Dream Doctor being related to Rularuu in some form. Can't find it at the moment, being at work behind a scary firewall. -
Glad I could inspire you a bit
That hero has been using Robotic Arm 3 since I made him. Recently I put on the Enforcer glove to the free hand. It is a bit larger than the Vanguard one but I like how it came out.
If you get a chance as you work your way through your list I would love to have another done of him.
New colored Fire armor and a bit higher resolution -
The -def penalty is negated if you double stack rage.

LOVE THEM!!
Thank you so much. Do you mind if I post them on my site? -
Honestly that surprises me a bit. Being the first Shield tank I have gotten to his level outside of beta I assumed that leading with Shield Charge was common practice and the lack of AAO boosting during the teleport was an acceptable loss.
Is it the same for /Elec tanks, in general? Lead with another attack and then let loose with Lightning rod local? In general...I know there will be situations where the teleport will be useful, but for your bread and butter attack chain. -

Stacking Rage will eliminate the -Defense penalty only. You will still suffer the -damage penalty. This shows up in the Combat Attributes.
