I did a search on the web for it, and the big red ball has become famous and fun worldwide! Just take a look at the evidence (below).
What a sad pitiful state that our virtual world is lacking the joy of the big red ball

    Fact #1
An artsy entrepreneur started something called the Red Ball Project.

They have this giant red ball that tours various cities around the world.

    Fact #2
Just about any person and any animal loves to play with a
    big red ball.
    Pomeranion puppies love them:

    So do hippos:

    Fact #3
Human's have taken the art of playing with Big Red Balls to the extreme:
*warning! Don't try any of this at home*

    Fact #4

    Animals love playing with the
big red ball! It's fun, and so cute to watch them play.
I hope you found some fun in my post

Then, to go a step further, have missions designed around helping the citizens rebuild.

Having everything go to hell in a hand basket, then flip a switch where everything's normal?
That got old. Badges aside, not much got accomplished during the raid IMO.
I also really like this idea too

In Sharkhead the rikti could be planting bombs on one side of the pit, enough placed and boom, the pit becomes a giant pool till Cage can get it emptyed.
Far fetched I know, but I like to dream
    I really like this idea

I've always thought it is odd that, for a zone being invaded and bombed, nothing is damaged. Ever.

For an invasion, the rikti have been doing a pretty crappy job.

I can just see the Rikti officer in charge of the zone invasion reporting back to his superiors...: (here is my sad attempt of Rikti-speak)

Officer: "Buildings destroyed: none. Civilians exterminated: zero. Transit broken: nul. Architect house virtual pleasure domes eradicated: nil. Trees, park benches and shrubberies torched: nadda."

Superior: "Objectives achieved: will you ever accomplish this century?"

    Officer:
*blushing in embarrassment* "Well... 5 cat girls: 2 of we defeated. Fred's mistake: petting one he did try. Scratching post: they said to Fred. Fred: his bleeding will not stop, is in medbay."

Superior: "Impressed: am not. My favour: how you improve?"

Officer: "AE building: we got season passes to free Me-ouch farm. Vanguard Merits: we have 3; George got confused and killed 5 drones."

Superior: "Guards: attend. Officer: to be dropped on Lusca. Communication Officer: get Romulus on the line; tell him we trade AE season passes if he invades AP for us."
  5. The outcast badge (100 outcast bosses) needs attention.
    No, not hero side.

    I mean villain side.
You don't find them anywhere villain side except for in 1 specific mission (from the contact Operative Wellman).
That particular mission is full of wyvern, with a couple of side mobs of Tsoo and Outcasts. If you run it with a team of 8, you are lucky to get 4 outcast bosses at most.
Oh and the Wyvern like to kill the outcasts also.
You pretty much have to rinse/repeat the mission 40 or so times to get the badge.

That in itself was painful enough. I did it once, and never will again.
And I'm glad I got it done when they conned grey.
With the changes in i16, a whole team will con the same level. I honestly can't see anyone wanting to repeat that mission 40 or so times by skipping all the prickly wyvern arrows to find the few surviving outcasts. *shudders*.

The only non exploitive fix I see to this, is if they add outcasts to one of the villain zones (or add a new zone villain side with outcasts in it).

Where are some good places or missions for me to look for purple drops? I have my Notoriety set on 4 so I get bigger spawns, and my widow is at 50 so I really don't need a team. I've been mowing through minions, lt's and a boss every now and then, but I am really having no luck. I need a good mission or area that has a crap ton of bosses and lt's, but doesn't require a 6 man team or anything.

I do sell the recipes I receive, but unless it is something really good I generally just price it at 1,111 influence and hope for the best.

I know you guys don't want to share your really top secret places, and I don't blame you. But if you have any second rate, or even third rate places, please shoot me a PM and help me out. I love my widow as is (completely IO'd), but I need MOAR POWAA!! Thanks!
Run your missions solo (contacts and radio).
Do them on heroic (or 2nd lowest diff); like another poster said, bosses aren't any good for purple drops.
You have a greater chance for recipes to drop playing solo (sadly).
Stop looking at your tray, don't look at it until it is full (a watched pot never boils).
When you get sick of soloing, join a TF or even start your own. The ITF, lady grey & STF are great drop wise, you have to defeat a lot of stuff along the way. The more kills, the more chances.

If you can't join a TF, and want company, do some AE farms, roll the tickets for recipes to earn more sales influence (I find both bronze rolls level 29 category are great; and gold rolls).
Currently the TF recipe pool is selling for a lot higher than prior to the AE. I got 200,000,000 for a miracle. I was shocked. (prior to i15 they were selling for 40-to-80mill). You will find miracles in the gold ticket pool.

Don't expect to see a purple to drop in your tray, expecting this will only leave you feeling frustrated. Instead, chill & have fun running the content as I suggested, while you build your cash pile (so you can afford some purpleness)

From my own gut instinct, I am waiting until after i16 before I bid again on any purple recipes. I have a feeling i16 will cause a chunk of the player base to float back outside of the AE building for non virtual content, meaning more supply (although I am expecting this to take several months to pan out). What I am saying, is I expect some of the prices of purples to slowly drop after i16 (although I could be completely wrong).

*edit*Completely forgot about this one! Just wait until after i16 is released, where you can set a mission for 8 players and do it completely solo (without having to ask for fillers). Make yourself a farming toon and have it ready for action. You might not get purples, but you will get a lot of drops fast.

    Have fun!

I'd love it if they added a tailor option for bases! *wishes*
Also an auction house interface would be awesome.
And a computer so you can edit you architect missions
It would make bases so much more useful.

    I have a simple question;
Are you trying to kill the game?
Whilst I understand your angst and how you tried to write an intro to your thread, I'm suggesting that next time you could do a draft up first so you don't receive so much backlash (that's if you are open to suggestions). Next time do up a draft before posting, reread the thing and try to imagine it from another person's point of view. Also, try not to accuse anyone of anything (even if you didn't realise it). Eg accusing the forum of trying to kill the game = bad.

    Quote:
Prices from 250,000,000 to 400,000,000 on Purple sets, and certain Procs are absolutely outrageous.
    Respec Recipe 200,000,000?
    Yes, yes they are (outrageous)

Whilst I don't expect them to be cheap, nor easily available, the prices skyrocketed ever since the AE machine sucked in the greedy hordelings.

Players are hitting 50 very fast; faster than prior to i15 (AE).
Players were earning tickets, rolling loot, and making influence faster than prior to i15.
Players were farming critters higher in level*(not including bridging in PI) than prior to i15 and earning more influence per kill.
Another side affect of the AE farming spree, is loot does not drop in AE missions (unless it is a dev's choice). So zero purples drop whilst that player goes from 1-50 doing AE farms.

    So you get the picture:
Faster to 50 and with a truckload of cash.
Some of these cashed up cash cows then waddle over to the auction house, and then snaffle up the ultra rares for big amounts.
There's less purples for sale now, more demand, so up goes the price.
It wouldn't matter if I stuck one for sale for 5 influence, it would most likely sell for an 8 to 9 digit long figure.

    Quote:
Normal players of this game can not come close to affording these prices. Are you trying to force them to the Spam Sites?
Are you a source of Influence/Infamy for the Spam Sites?
Depends what you consider a *normal* player.
I would not expect the casual gamer to have purples; I'd expect them to have SOs slotted and some common trainer IOs.

No-one is forcing anyone to do anything.
Why would I want to pay real cash for virtual money? That's pretty stupid. I already earn enough on my toons. I also slot within my means, and the key here is I have learnt to be very patient.

By the way, not a good idea with accusations of forcing players to go to spam sites it starts your thread on the wrong foot.

    Quote:
    What gives?
I have several 50's and have enjoyed playing them, and IO'ing them.
I just created a new toon, and at your current Market Pricing, she'll never get IO'd out.
Me too. I have lots of alts.
Most of them are slotted with common trainer IOs.
And most of them will never be *fully IOd out* with the glory sets (eg purples, miracle, lotg etc). Nor do I expect it to happen anytime soon.

    Quote:
You think peeps will keep playing when they can't IO their toons?
Um, yes? Yes I expect people will keep playing, just as they have since the game first rolled out many years ago.
Speaking of years, many of those went by where there were NO ios. And there was no auction house back then either.
Players used to just slot DOs then SOs, and the lucky ones who got to go on hami raids would actually get to slot some HOs.

    Quote:
    Whats up with this?
Why is IO'ing a toon out so vital to you?
The dev's have said in the past that the characters ability is not based on having IOs, they test powers based on slotting with readily available enhancements (DOs/SOs) you can buy relatively cheap from many available stores.
Maybe you need to look at why this is such a big deal to you & put it in perspective.

    Here is some advice:
I used to feel the same way about the prices, prior to i15 actually.
I hated the auction house even.
Then after posting how I felt about it, and a light flaming, I got some great advice.
Don't use the auction house like a shop. Ever.
Just bid, and bid low (50 to 75% below what the last visible average price paid for that item). Let your bid sit there. Be patient. Take a week before you log back onto that character to check. Do other stuff (real life) or play a different character during that time.
Lastly remember why you are playing the game (to be super of course!). I'm pretty sure you did not buy it in order to go to sleep at night knowing you are wrapped in purple enhanced glory.
  10. Really? I wouldn't know, I've not seen anything origin specific other than the booster packs, which I've not had a problem with myself. Unless you mean the SO origin shops, which are a breeze to complete (hero side).

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure players will complain no matter what is done, or not done.

Could you at least provide some sort of subject and reasoning so I can understand your point of view?
  11. I'd like to see some sort of advancement, an extra layer of improvements after level 50. The sort of things that are 'nice' to have but not essential, and would not affect your prior build.

Powers? No, i don't mean anything that would affect enhancements. *edit* I'm suggesting enhancements stay capped at level 50 (except for those rare 53 HOs).

I'm thinking something along the lines of progress after 50. But it doesn't have to mean level 51,52 etc. It could still be some sort of progression, just to allow a couple extra slots. (Listen to my peacebringer and scrapper screaming for slots in the distance).

But more slots would be awesome.

Also something related to my origin specifically would finally make some meaning of it (other than the temp power you get at level 1).
    • It could be something fun (a new non-combat pet; or, a temporary pet of your choice with a suitably long recharge time. For example, the devouring earth fungoid.) Origin specific of course.
    • It could be something zany (a no-damage power such as throw snowball, or the mythical nerf-vomit bat, or something else fun!).
    • It could be a temp combat or defensive power (non-enhanceable) also specific to your origin
    • It could be a special temp "panic button". When there is a team wipe, you could click the panic button, and a hoard of your origing-specific npc's turn up (e.g. longbow) to save the day. (Obviously affecting rewards/xp).
    • It could add an extra costume mission/slot, with a contact specific to your origin (so 5 origin contacts); and maybe a couple of new unique pieces for your exact origin.
    • These contacts could also provide specific origin missions, which you are rewarded with 1 extra salvage/recipe/transaction slot. (one total per character).
I can hear someone in the distance disagreeing and saying these things exist already. Well, I'm not talking about the existing stuff. :P It's just an extra bunch of fun stuff you can *choose* to use, and that I know I would love to play about with.

Yes yes, I know there are vet rewards, temp powers, the magic booster pack, etc already.
But who wouldn't want their very own nerf-vomit-inducing bat, or to have the throw snowball power in the summer? Something to do during down-time inbetween missions when you are goofing off with friends is always a bonus. Heck they could even create origin specific dance emotes!

I just saw this thread and thought, there are some things I wish my character had and gee that would be fun; and hmmm this could be an option for unlocking further fun items whilst unlocking those extra enhancement slots. And I have always wished origins played more of a purpose other than what DOs you slot :P
  12. CaffeineAddict

    Dead emotes

I'd love to see a couple of 'dead' emotes too!

One especially where I can play possum and be already laying down dead in PVP (sure they would see I'm at 100% health) but it would be fun for me (I goof off like that).

Another where I can do the southern belle faint thingy (mentioned above).

Also, I'd love the classic loony toons/bugs bunny thing where I can lay on my back holding a white daisy.

These will also come in very useful for those that like to use the demo record/video editing thingy. (fraps or w/e it is).

  14. I got an even better idea.
Yes - in my own weird world and my opinion as being an expert of.. well my own mind. Anyhow moving on...

You know what would be REALLY cool?

    You defeat the paladin.
As he topples over, he explodes into 1000 *special* little paladin-gears.
You destroy all the *special* paladin-gears.

Then you get a badge for being so freaking awesome.

And you walk away, remembering the awesome carnage of 1000 little robots zapping the jeebus out of your team.

    I'd honestly love this!
  15. You'd have to ask one of the canon gods (the guys with OCD attachment to the back story of the game).

I think the reason lusca spawns in IP has something to do with all the factories in Independance Port polluting the water (but I could be wrong).

I'd rather see them make a completely new monster rather than just porting lusca over.
  16. I'd rather see the AE buildings removed from the birthplace of heroes and villains completely(i.e. Atlas, Galaxy & Mercy).
That way any new player isn't greeted by an abundance of idiotic farm spam on broadcast, and might actually get the chance to engage in some normal (non-AE) teaming.
  17. [ QUOTE ]

The devs are about to fix both of these problems with one change, one that I don't know if they fathom the consequences of:

In I16, you will be able to set your AE mission to spawn as if you had a full team of 8.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Imagine those huddled masses of lowbies and newbies and AE babies forced back onto the streets and into paper missions again. Out into the game where they'll have to learn the ropes for themselves, carry themselves from 1-50 like we did before AE, because nobody needs them to get proper-sized spawns anymore.

I think this is the best move the devs have ever made. I hope that they were smart enough to realize what they were doing, that it was on purpose, but really? Even if it's an accident, I think it's the best accident to happen to the game since AE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. I love this. It is bloody beautiful and I can't wait.

    ----------------------------
    *edit*
Actually I just had another thought about this.

Will the lowbies REALLY go back to normal content?

Won't they just form a team in their own level range and mindlessly farm the AE at their own level?

I can just see there will be level 20, level 30 and level 40 AE farms created & running and being broadcast anyhow.
Why would they bother to leave Atlas Park when they can run a farm in their own level range?

The only difference I anticipate at this stage, is the hard core farmers will farm solo with mobs spawned to 8, and lower levels will segregate off to form farm teams in the AE at their own level range.

*2nd edit* Also, another important fact here. Tickets. Why would the lowbies go back to doing normal content, when they can get 1500 tickets from running ONE mission? Enough tickets to give all sorts of juicy rewards from the ticket vendor? Mission rewards outside of the AE simply can't compare to the instant and guaranteed gratification that you will get from 1 AE mission farm.
  18. Mix it up to keep things fun.
Exemplar down to some low level friends & earn inf while you hang with your buddies (outside of the AE).
Do some task forces or trials.
    Or try some oroborous flashbacks.
If you are in a hurry, go grind out the battle maiden farm hero side.

    Agreed.

    [ QUOTE ]
I cant think of a single defender combination with the same set for a controller that can protect a team better than a controller. Its just not possible.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This I disagree with, but only as I have seen a lot of bad controller players. And my most favourable team buffing players have been defenders. But I do agree a controller *potentially* can bring a lot more to the team if played well as a complete package, although their buffs/debuffs are slightly lower.

    [ QUOTE ]
Despite what the primary or secondary roles are players will change those to either fit the situation or their playstyles.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Agreed.

    [ QUOTE ]
Another reason I feel defenders get the shorthand in all of this is due to troller pets. Trollers can contribute damage via pets without ever having to stop supporting with their controls/buff/debuffs. Defenders have to choose between blasting and supporting. Often times on some sets that can get in the way. The added damage they contribute doesnt amount to enough to be worth risking a teammates life by blasting instead of supporting.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. One of the reasons why I like playing my ill/thermal.

FYI -- my post prior to this was to emphasise moreso that defenders are still quite useful despite the comparison with controllers & blasters (from a buffing/debuffing mind-set at least).

I actually have to agree with the Nethergoat for once

I've started flipping recently and I'm actually starting to enjoy the ebils of the marketeering racket (or however you say it).

Makes me wish there was a dolphin body style in the costume editor. Then I can finally make my "Flipper" toon costume.
  21. A couple of things you seem to be missing here.

First of all, a defenders primary is by far stronger than a controllers secondary any day. Example -- an empath defenders absorb pain will always be better than a controllers (given they are the same level & slotted the same).

Next, a defenders prime purpose is to use their primary (well that is how I play it). Focusing on your buffs, debuffs and assisting the team. Blasting is the lesser of my concerns, if the team wanted a blaster, they would have invited one (although I do damage when my primaries are recharging).

Controllers on the other hand, their main objective is to *control* things. Their buffs/debuffs are also expected to be up & out, right after the control is done. My only controller that plays at times like a defender is my illusionist, simply as he pops out the pets, and has not much left to do other than secondaries (no immob, no group hold, only the single target hold). So he goes back to doing the thermal buff/debuffs, which are lovely.

If I have invited a controller to team to say, oh I don't know, lock mobs down, and that controller is doing things *other* than said lockdown, then they are a waste of time. (Especially as I already have defenders on team doing the buffs/debuffs that we require). Once the controller locks stuff down, I don't mind him buffing etc.

Aside from buffing my team mates INBETWEEN mobs (when no fighting is going on), I have always played my controllers by opening with my primary - mezzing the shinola out of mobs. Confuse, hold, fear, immob, and throw in anything else from my primary.

The best teams I have played, especially on TF's have always had a lot of defenders on team. I've found in the past that *some* controller players just can't keep up with staying actively busy on all their powers for the duration of a TF and end up slacking.

I will agree however that a defenders' secondary is weak.
The only one I've found decent is the sonic blast.

Comparing defenders to blasters isn't a good idea imo.
Defenders are designed for the biggest buffing/debuffing primary in game, and the weakest blast.
Blasters are the complete opposite (and buffless to boot).

One more thing you have forgotten, the best buff from the entire leadership set is only achievable by a defender.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Hi all, so I've decided to start exemping for Oro mishes and the occasional TF and zone pvp. So, what is the best way to go about slotting my powers?
