Need some help getting purples...

Don't we all? Ha!

Really though, I want to purple out my Widow. I can't afford the prices on the market right now (I'm not complaining, I just don't have the patience to do the marketeer stuff), so I'm really relying on drops, or those lucky merit rolls where I get an LoTG that I can pawn for ~100mill.

Where are some good places or missions for me to look for purple drops? I have my Notoriety set on 4 so I get bigger spawns, and my widow is at 50 so I really don't need a team. I've been mowing through minions, lt's and a boss every now and then, but I am really having no luck. I need a good mission or area that has a crap ton of bosses and lt's, but doesn't require a 6 man team or anything.

I do sell the recipes I receive, but unless it is something really good I generally just price it at 1,111 influence and hope for the best.

I know you guys don't want to share your really top secret places, and I don't blame you. But if you have any second rate, or even third rate places, please shoot me a PM and help me out. I love my widow as is (completely IO'd), but I need MOAR POWAA!! Thanks!

There are a lot of bosses in the RWZ and I know people farm the Cim wall but the bottom line is it is just stupid luck. Good luck. Personally I am in make inf mode and buy them at this point.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

You'd probably want to get missions with loads of minions instead of bosses because purple recipes only drop from minions. Cimerora wall is nice for solo-minion bashing.

Costume recipes (Pool E) only drop from minions. Purples, like all Pool A recipes, drop from bosses, lieutenants and minions (as long as they aren't grey and are level 47+).

What SwellGuy said. At this point for me, I'm just trying to save what I can and am eagerly looking forward to the new difficulty modes for other people, if you take my meaning.

Run your missions solo (contacts and radio).
Do them on heroic (or 2nd lowest diff); like another poster said, bosses aren't any good for purple drops.
You have a greater chance for recipes to drop playing solo (sadly).
Stop looking at your tray, don't look at it until it is full (a watched pot never boils).
When you get sick of soloing, join a TF or even start your own. The ITF, lady grey & STF are great drop wise, you have to defeat a lot of stuff along the way. The more kills, the more chances.

If you can't join a TF, and want company, do some AE farms, roll the tickets for recipes to earn more sales influence (I find both bronze rolls level 29 category are great; and gold rolls).
Currently the TF recipe pool is selling for a lot higher than prior to the AE. I got 200,000,000 for a miracle. I was shocked. (prior to i15 they were selling for 40-to-80mill). You will find miracles in the gold ticket pool.

Don't expect to see a purple to drop in your tray, expecting this will only leave you feeling frustrated. Instead, chill & have fun running the content as I suggested, while you build your cash pile (so you can afford some purpleness)

From my own gut instinct, I am waiting until after i16 before I bid again on any purple recipes. I have a feeling i16 will cause a chunk of the player base to float back outside of the AE building for non virtual content, meaning more supply (although I am expecting this to take several months to pan out). What I am saying, is I expect some of the prices of purples to slowly drop after i16 (although I could be completely wrong).

*edit*Completely forgot about this one! Just wait until after i16 is released, where you can set a mission for 8 players and do it completely solo (without having to ask for fillers). Make yourself a farming toon and have it ready for action. You might not get purples, but you will get a lot of drops fast.

Have fun!

As the others have said, minions are better than bosses for purples. The drop rate is around 1 in 1600 minions so you'll have to keep at it.

Good luck.

I think others have covered the basics. The only thing I'd add is to hold off buying any on the market until post-I16. Hopefully the new difficulty settings will result in a higher number of purples being produced with consequently lowered prices.

Try to get on an itf thats a great way to get purples, or at least for me all but one of the purples that have dropped for me are from itf's

Lots of good advice from everyone else.

Pick missions you can tear through. Difficulty 2 is probably best for this: more enemies, and easier enemies. Level equivalent doesn't mean anything for purples: a -2 minion has the same chance to drop one as a +4 minion, so over time, you'll get more with easier enemies.

Put any IO's you don't use onto the market, along with salvage. If they don't sell after a few days, pull 'em and vendor 'em. I actually crafted any common IOs I found with the salvage that dropped. After a while, I bought the level 45 versions and crafted them too. It's an easy way to get the 45-50 memorization badges. I know you didn't want to market much, but once you have the memorization badges, you can craft from what salvage you have, and generally make a lot of INF doing it.

My farm spot redside is deep in the Fab, in Grandville. Lots of Arachnos and Crey minions, with Lt's and bosses scattered in. Bosses may not be the best bet for purples, but they do give a lot of INF per kill, and have a very tiny chance to drop TF/Trial recipes.

One decent idea if you can, is revisit your 40-45 contacts. See if you can find a decent farm mission at level 45. If you can, crank the difficulty to 5, and farm the nice level 47's. Donig this, you won't get level 50 set Io's, but you should be able to clear a map fairly quickly, and volume is what you need for purple drops.

to echo an inf making tip many others have posted here over the years, check the recipe/crafted price disparity for your set IO drops.

I'm lazy so I mostly just flip stuff, but I've started playing my long-retired AR/Dev blaster again, with an eye toward kitting him out with the l337 s37s when he caps out. As a pre-inventions character he was poor as dirt when I started so I've been exercising all avenues of wealthbuilding to get him jumpstarted.

His main earner so far has been crafted set IOs generated from tickets or drops. The disparity between recipe and crafted IO can be truly staggering. Turnover is appreciably slower, but if it's something people want it usually sells in a few days and the higher price keeps the per-slot profit high.

He started off with a few million after I respec'ed him and cleaned out his slots. Playing him off and on and being patient I got him frankenslotted while building his bankroll up to around 30 million. Now that his slotting is taken care of the inf is rolling in- crafting recipes that are going for 50k to a few million and selling them for 2-20 million has him closing in on 100 million. By the time he hits 50 he should have enough to finance his dream build.

Oh. I was under the impression purples only dropped from minions...

Anyways, minions will still probably be better if you try to get purples because you can mow down a spawn of minions much faster than a spawn of bosses. This isn't true, though, if the purple drop rates are significantly different between minions/lieutenants/bosses.
