I'm sure this has been done before, but in case it hasn't, I had the good idea of making 3D stereoscopic images from CoH as follows:
1. /screenshotui 0
2. take a screenshot
3. move left a bit
4. another screenie
5. chop off the right half of both screenshots and paste the two next to each other.
6. Cross your eyes :-)
Here's my first two attempts. I think with practice they would get better :-)

Quote:Well, if they offer me inf to join their team, THAT would be within the rules of the channel...Yes, that's the one.
Well, since it's presented to players as "the Request channel", and LFT/LFM messages are, in fact, requests, it seems pedantic to me to insist such messages are a misuse despite the fact that they are. (Yes, I see the current in-game help panel declares, "This is a channel reserved for trading, buying and selling," but that panel hasn't been there forever, and really, who reads it?) -
Quote:Isn't the "Auction" channel actually called the "Request" channel? The built in trading channel that has been there since release.Have any of you successfully used the /auction channel to buy or sell any in-game items?
I think I sold one thing there pre-I9. The problem is that it is only a broadcast channel in zone, it is not a global channel.
I've seen the request channel misused as a lft channel, but mostly it is silent.
Global channel TheMarket is superior in every way. We only keep the Request channel around to give the illusion of competition so we can avoid scrutiny. -
Quote:The devs set those prices, and I think you know that. What determines the recipe prices when you sell them off at the stores?
Some IO's are up to 10,000 inf.
Commons sell for about 100,000 inf or so.
Purple recipes only sell for 5,000 inf. Isn't that a ripoff? Considering the rarity and the bonuses, shouldn't they be more like 500,000 inf? At least more than commons. I hate selling them for 5,000.
EDIT: Actually, I'd like eryq2 to go on record that he actually has vendored purples, and has never sold one at the consignment house. -
Is it just me, or does the market teleporter animation "stutter" now?

Quote:Try and get a team at 3AM in the morning U.S. time. That is our peak period (evening, our time). Then you will see why this forum is required.I think footy for Aussies means rugby. I've been known to be wrong occasionally though.
I don't care for the split-up boards either, myself, not just the one for "Oceanic" types but the Euros either. It all fosters a sense of little groups, not a community. To me, better for people trying to organize some time-specific event to note the time zone, if it's that limited a thing. But hey, if people ask for an enclave, who am I.
In fact, up until now we have had our own Australian/NZ forums that aren't even on the official boards, so the creation of this forum is more likely to encourage Oceanics to join the CoH "community", rather than the opposite.
This has always been a timezone issue, not a geographic one. Global channel "Australia" has its share of US shift workers, people living in Japan etc. -
G'day I'm @Graal and I live in Sydney Australia. I've been playing CoH since before the boombox emote :-O
I play irregularly on Justice server, where I am a mad marketeer. Send me a tell if you need some inf. -
What are you complaining about? You were the second person to be granted moderator access to it, despite being unable to say "fish and chips" properly ;-)
Besides, there is another Oceania channel... channel Oceania... but I'm the only one in it. muahaha ... -
Are vet/hard-core players more or less likely to go over to CO? If all the farmers head over there, the effect on the market will be quite large.
I'm a vet player but not hard-core. I won't be going over to CO because I want to stay married :-) (My CoX addiction is at manageable levels :-)
Another question is whether the marketeers staying here can do something to prop up the economy when the exodus comes....? -
Subject says it all, predictions anyone?

Quote:From reading the link on super-sidekicking that someone posted, it looks like the whole team will be auto-sked or auto-exemped to the leader's level minus one. Also, exemping/malefactoring will now earn xp ('cept for 50s of course). So any group of players can form a team, no matter what the level spread. It's a question, not a supposition. If they're removing the (dumb) level restriction on (most) zones, are they also removing the (equally dumb) intro level restrictions on contacts?
And as Faultline is the preeminent example of dumb contact level restrictions, it would be a nice place to test. If I don't see that a closed beta tester tried it out, I'll probably run around and try stuff like that in the open beta.
Sounds like a VERY good idea to me, since player numbers are going to plummet with the release of Champions Online. -
Quote:Probably, but I didn't know the thirteen to pick ahead of time. It's too bad we don't have a more detailed log of when our items sold.
It'd've been nice to know if those items had sold out in rapid sucession, or steadily throughout the weekend.
One way or another, I'm thinking this list can be used as a guide of which specific common salvage pieces to gamble on next double xp weekend. If you had instead put 360 piecies of the 13 items on that list, do you think they all would have sold then?
I don't think you need to wait until next 2XP weekend, the thirteen that sold out are probably still flipworthy. For example, last night (Thursday night GMT+10 time) Circuit boards were down to the last six for sale, blueside. Thursday night, my time, is normally when salvage stock is lowest, I presume because of people crafting in preparation for the weekend (or perhaps supply of salvage only exceeds demand during the weekends).
From my experience buying out salvage in the past, listed salvage tends to be in "bands" around certain price points. I think of it like a beach, where the tide coming in and out is the demand.. people throw their salvage at the current sea level or a bit higher and hope that it washes away. If the tide goes out, the salvage is left at that level. Over time, the salvage is in bands around previous high price points.
However, if a king tide comes in (eg. double XP weekend), all the salvage is washed out. Which means that for a while after, there is no salvage higher up the beach to slow down the tide any more. Once the "crust" near the water is chewed up, prices spike again.
So if you are ebil, now is the time to manipulate salvage prices. -
Despite spending stupid amounts of time trading, I still haven't hit the inf cap yet. I've been trying to get there on a single toon by trading only (minus a small amount of starting capital from playing).
That said, I don't think we've ever had rules about the billionaire club, except that the billion has to be on a single character, and you need to post a screenshot. 1B is a lot of inf, I think it is still a significant achievement even if you've double-boxed and transferred inf from five different toons to get there. -
Well, I guess I have to eat humble pie, my prediction was pretty much wrong.
Of the 360 common salvage items I listed at 1M each (blueside), only 139 sold during/after 2XP weekend. Still very profitable, but not the DOOM I was expecting.

ParagonWiki would be a much better house for market guides than these forums...
-
What this forum needs is a useful FAQ on the quickest way to get stuff without using the market. That way when people come here to complain about the market, we can point them to the FAQ and they can move on.

Must be a typo sale... judging from the fee charged, the item was listed for 95,555,520 amirite?
