Stereoscopic CoH images?

I'm sure this has been done before, but in case it hasn't, I had the good idea of making 3D stereoscopic images from CoH as follows:
1. /screenshotui 0
2. take a screenshot
3. move left a bit
4. another screenie
5. chop off the right half of both screenshots and paste the two next to each other.
6. Cross your eyes :-)

Here's my first two attempts. I think with practice they would get better :-)

Another one.

Much harder with toons in shot... they move! I had to wait to catch Ms Liberty at the same point in the animation.

OMG!! That's amazing!! A tad hard on the eyez, but definitely amazing!

These are very cool...

Making the pictures a bit smaller would make it easier to view. Also, sitting back further from the screen means less crossing of the eyes.

Very nice!

Very cool... but you have to cross your eyes too much... killed the focus.

Funny, I just tried exactly that with a toon. Works somewhat, but I'll need to experiment some more.

This took me a couple views to get. BUT i finally did. The train station for me worked best because there were things in the foreground that helped. Once I got that one the others just popped out naturally. Cool stuff!

Very awesome! Do have to agree with LadyJudgement though.... ouch. Eyes hurt if you do it too much. @JohnPrintemps. What you do is cross your eyes so that each side of the image merge together into one in the middle. If you get your eyes focused just right, it goes into a sort of 3-D mode.

Little guide to view these images:

Now that you have two pictures, you need to learn to view them as a pair without using any special glasses or viewers. This is the best way to quickly know if you've made a successful shot or not. I you remember the Magic Eye books popular about 15 years ago, this is the same eye technique used for what's called "parallel viewing" (as opposed to "crosseyed viewing"). Basically, you put the two images side by side, with the left image on the left, right on the right. Now look at them and relax your eyes, so they actually drift apart. As they do this, guide them so the two images drift into three, until the image in the middle pops into alignment as your stereo image. You are now compositing the left and right images on top of each other, and letting your brain focus on this image alone. Once you get it there, you can easily lock it into place. If this is difficult, try reversing the pictures (right on the left, left on the right) and crossing your eyes until the third image locks into place in the middle. Some people find this easier.

I'm with you on that. Then again, I could NEVER make out the picture hidden in all the swirls that used to be hugely popular either.

Little too subtle at this range, I'll see how the second one turned out.

Better, the force field is off a bit, giving the impression that it's closer than the foreground.

I thought of several things to say about this one:

When you stare into the Abyss the Abyss also stares into you.
Don't look to long or you'll go blind.

In any case, I can recommend the dark dots on the top-center grey clamp as a focus point.

Took seven shots to get one to line up well with the initial left-eye view.

This was a triumph.

Wow the portal is really good. It looks as if it's turning three demensionally as opposed to just in a circle. Nice. Though the smaller images are actually harder for me to get for some reason.

I really love the portal one as well!

Lets try this

Ergh, need to include the Atlas from above or it inserts a line-break.

OMG! This would be awsome! The Idea is to know what Stereoscopic 3d would look like in COH right? I think it would put it ahead of SWTOR by a landslide. Depth perceptions like this in the game would be unreal. In my opinion if they gave the game Stereoscopic
3D and at least short story animations with audio for their NPC's that would probably be it! Fav's the Atlas. Makes the city's depth way more apparant.
