Ok. I am terrible at this stuff and I am trying to work out how this stuff...well....works!
If I get a catalyst what can i use it on...LOTG, or just purples or do I use it with a special drop?

Whoever said wp can be tougher with upgrades is living in la la land.
I have a wp that is amazing in terms of capped on all but psi def whic is around 40. They are great to play and one of my top toons, but the stone tank is a god.
Wp cannot get res capped in almost all areas. My stone is capped in everything but psi. He has def ranging from 59-69 in all but psi whic is still a decent 25.
He has 87 end resistance, lots of def resistance, accuracy res the works. He also runs at 30 mph in stone and never has end issues. His recharge is in the plus and he can stand with lord recluse and pick his nose without and worries.
Not to say wp are bad, I love my wp toon, but the stone owns in everyday when it comes to tanking....the only true weakness is offense and even that has gone with reactive, ion blast and pets. -

Well we all know who the toughest tank is in terms of taking damage and that is granite hands down. My granite has def in the high 58's area and 60's. He also has 21 psi def too.
His resistence is capped at 90 on all but psi.
Even if you are to face psi damage I use my other armours for over 50 def and s/l around the cap mark.
You also have end resistence which is around 86% and I managed to get my stone tank moving around the 30 mph mark....that is very fast. Regen is 47 with rooted. Hit points around 2600-2700.
Recharge is at an even. The only thing you cannot avoid is the damage. That is the one area I could not cover.
He is the toughest of them all.
My SS/WP is worth billions and he is softcapped on all def. He regens over the hundred mark with one bad guy. He is super fun to play and you will get rage crashes, but when you are capped it is not as bad. The only problem with this build is that it will cost you. It will cost you alot.
Now if you wanted to have less def to psi and a bit more res then I would go with invul/ss as this can do some crazy damage like wp, but makes you a little tougher. That is the only difference I have seen....also it will not cost you as much for the def on invul.
So for your play style i would go WP or INVUL only if you have the money to pull it off. The stone tank can be tough with just SO's.

Silver is so right! I have a spines fire and I actually use him for AE missions which is not bad until the end when they are constantly scattering. If anyone has an idea on how to stop this please let me know.
My stone/stone brute is an excellent tank. Holds aggro real well and is capped on def and has very high res to boot. He is certainly the most tankerish brute I have played. -
I have a wp/ss that is capped on all def. Regen is 71 and over 100 on a single target alone. He does alot more damage, but I know you want a pure tank.
He is pretty tough, but I notice on the resistance part how much that can play a role even with the high regen. He is also over 3000 for hitpoints, but does not have a heal :'[ But he is great fun and can really do some damage, plus is you get recharge you can footstomp galore!!!
The thing with the stoner though is they can become gods, but they are still demi-god even with no real expensive recipes. -
I would say a stone tank for sure. I have alot of tanks and nothing can handle the damage a stoner can take. It will have the PSI hole, but you can only cover so much.
My Stone Tanker Electric is fun to play and does damage in groups that is for sure. Suffers on single targets as most attacks are aoe. My Stone tanks defense is ranging in the 60's to the mid 50's except for psi which is 20 atm. My resistences are capped at 90% on everything except psi which is only 3%
My Regen with rooted is 51 which I think is great. I also have focused accuracy so my to hits debuffs are over 86% and it has many other debuffs that hold around the 86% such as end debuff. This can make a hugh difference against certain enemies.
I have more end than I can handle so I never run out. Recharges in it mean I am almost level on recharge and remove the negative. My accuracy is great but you will have the - Damage aspect. My run speed is 30 mph so he is very fast in granite. My hitpoints are over 2000 and my heal recharges over 1600 hits and caps me at 3500+ when I use it.
It is a great fun build and if you wanted to cover your psi hole you can get barrier. I choose that and the heal so I can help my team out and I never need it anyway.
He is a beast and I could higher his stats if I wanted to lose some speed, but I like being fast and as you can see above, he can handle almost anything.
The one thing with the PSI hole that I do is switch to my other armours and then I am capped for alot of defenses in that form and my psi raise to the high 50's. So even that is covered.
I can also stand on monster island and have 10 of them around me and not feel a thing. -
It is a bit frustrating. I just finished my spines fire scrapper and worked hard to get reactive. I would never have bothered if it was only going to hit one target.
I would have used my rares and v rares on destiny first.
But who am I to complain.....I am only a customer.
It is frustrating......but I also understand if it is broken then it has to be fixed, but this seems so underpowered its funny! -
I have a spines/fire and a Elec/Shield and the electric shield is just amazing in damage if build right.
My spines/fire is a constant damage monster and great in small compact farms especially with reactive now.
I will have to time and compare them.
To be fair they are both fun, but I prefer the Elec/Shield because of the boom factor and solid defense. -
After reading the post above me I have barrier for the trials, which is nice but I use Ageless for most of the other content as it gives you recharge of 70 and if also gives you recovery of over 8 (well me anyway) so when you crash it is great to keep you flowing.
Plus works well with the footstomp that wonderful ageless thing.... -
If you have the money you can get your WP/SS to DEF:
52 S/L
47 Fire/Cold
45 Energy/Negative
37 PSI
Your will be perma rage. Your end will be 4.50. Your res will be around 67 S/L and 11 for most of the rest except psi which is either 40 or 45%.
Plus you get high recharge....I think 120 with Hasten.
You will need to buy the glad proc. If not then lower it of course by 3+
I do not have the build on me as I am working, but I will be happy to get that out to you guys.
Oh and the regen is around 70 normal and against 1 person in the 100's and more in groups of course.
Always slot forcefeedback in footstomp as that works like a charm everytime for me. -

I know quite a bit about Stone Tanks and to be honest I have yet to find a tank that can survive what I can be put through.
You can max def and res with the Alpha Power now. You can also get your run speed to around 30mph in Granite which is fast, believe me.
You have to have the psi hole as it would not be a challenge anymore. Plus I also managed to get my tank to 21 psi def which is not that bad in granite and I use elusive mind or 2 purples and I am good.
Although if I am running carnie missions I change into my other def powers. With my build I actually use them to carry my lotg recharge and runspeeds, but I am well over cap on psi and capped on smashing lethal fire and cold.
I just have to build it "right", and I say right as I like speed in my build, while others would be more than happy to key bind the teleport with CTRL and click.
Just depends on what you like.
I do agree on the look. I hate looking like all the other granites and wish you could change the texture to some degree and at least the color!!!
Rooted's penalties are very harsh to be honest.....but you can get over them. -

Yep. In fact, my stone tank has Maneuvers to carry an extra Gift of the Ancients +runspeed and Luck of the Gambler +recharge. -
I have my granite at 30 mph and he flys! Funny when people start asking me how I got so fast.
One trick is to select some of the armours that allow Ancients 7.5% in them. You dont have to have them activated for it to kick in of course.
I also have a massive amount of end and recharge and it is perfect for me.
The only thing I actually dropped was the def side. I just felt I has more than enough to cope. Mine was a brute so I did not want to be softcapped.
My tanker is around 25 mph and I did not want to go any higher to drop from his softcap. I think I could get him to 26-27mph. Just need to move things around! -
Ok first and foremost. What really makes this build fun is increasing recharge, end and speed. I find having speed, being very important to having fun with my toon.
If you have alot of money I can tell you what you would need to get the recharge bonus, plus the running speed to get as high as 30 mph.
Do you want to concentrate on defense or is killing stuff just as important.
I went for the do the most damage model with high recharge and speed, so i could solo and knock things on their butt.
I find that in granite it is so strong that you can take most hits anyway.

Are you looking for run speed, or just looking for recharge and end? I am just wondering what is more important to you? The def res and def is easy, but the others will need to be more tactical in terms of power selection.
Let me know and i will look at the build.
I will have to place my stoner stone brute on here with a massive recharge and a top speed of 30mph with end to burn. His def will not be as high for some of the missions that you are looking to complete, but that is a minor issue in terms of moving powers and slotting.
