Myself, I just log in my cold/sonic and wait for the invite -
Quote:You can shut Mary down with sleeps. They're not always there, but there it is. Just an FYI to the unknowingMag -4 is enough for 95% of the knock effects you will be exposed to in the game.
In those situations where mag -4 is not enough 95% of the time mag -8 is not enough either. (Nemesis Force bolt is mag 10)
Mag -12 will cover you in all most all but the most extreme situations. Hami does mag 12 KB (ie: with mag -12 you'll get knocked down) and wave 10 Mary Macomber will do mag 12 if you are standing in her hurricane and you get hit by gale and thunderstorm at the same time.
A few other things in the game will exceed mag 12 (Scirocco is one of them) -
After Local Man put me on the right path to Ice, this is the build I'm looking at. Good recharge and Sleet is up faster than on your build. Maybe you don't want to dump that much influence into it, I'm just saying. BTW, I'd rather have Ice Slick than Snow Storm. It's not a bad power but baddies flopping on ice and not attacking are better than those slowed IMO. This is still a work in progress and subject to change, and very well may
Also, I don't see any other travel power other than SS.

You could also try the sewers, lots if you enter in Skyway. They are low levels as well, I'm talking the 5 and 6 range. Can't get much easier or faster than that.

Quote:Wow, nice info. Local man to the rescue!I finally got home so I could look at my slotting:
Coersive Persuasion: End/Confuse and Contageous Confusion proc
End/Conf from Malaise and Perplex and Cacaphony, and the Chance for Psi Damage from Malaise. That easily caps EndRdx and Confuse, with the two procs. I could have replaced the Cacaphony with a Chance for Energy Damage from the same set, but that would have reduced the EndRdx and Confuse to the low 80%, and I wanted max for those two attributes. -
Quote:Hmm, I guess there's lots of ways you could go on this.Arctic Air begs for the Contagious Confusion proc. Frankenslotting AA with 2 endurance reducers, 2 Confuse durations, and a Contagious Confusion makes AA extremely powerful. You can also add a damage proc if you want.
2 Coercive, the proc and conf/endrdx, 2 conf IOs, 2 endrdx.
That would also get an extra 4% recovery. Or since you'd be hitting 97.69 without the proc would it be better to slot a damage proc instead.
I know for sure I'll be doing something like this.
Thanks again everyone! -
Quote:Well now, my eyes have been opened on why you'd frankenslot. Told you I don't know anything about ice :P I'm gonna go back and try a build with fly and some procs in AA.
All good info, tyvm! -
Quote:I'm trying to remember what I have in AA, but I know that I frankenslotted to get max Confuse and nearly max EndRdx, plus 2 procs. It is very effective and I can run it pretty much all the time. The max confuse really helps the confuse have more of an impact. Max slotting the power for its effective use is more important than the bonuses in my opinion.
Look at the numbers on Arctic Fog. It they are substantially the same as Steamy Mist, then I found that I got more benefit slotting for decent resistance for Energy, Cold and Fire, than for a small amount of general defense. Of course, if you already have high defense, then a little bit more can make a large difference.
Just wondering, is AA an auto hit power, or is the fact that these are procs negate the need for acc? Maybe your acc set bonuses make up for this? I haven't used procs in a power like this so I'm ignorant, lol -
Quote:I don't see the need for acro in most circumstances nowadays in PvE anymore with all the IOs that could help with KB etc.
Editing as I'm typing- ahh so the order isn't the end order you're just looking at the bonuses. Gotcha.
I can't remember but is there enough end reduction in the purple confuse set? You need to be careful with AA, its fairly end heavy.
Well acro is 8 and I put one BotZ resKB in there to get me to 12, for those rare times when I do KHTF. I may try to build this with fly and see how it goes.
I'm a bit worried about end on this build and may pull the proc out of AA in favor of an end redux. I was just trying to take advantage of the defense. -
I said in my first post, slotting wasn't right due to looking for set bonuses, I should have said power choices and slotting. Sleet now has an acc def debuff set. As for Benumb, I only questioned it because others have brought this up on how useful it is to a troller. I took it on my second build. I do have it on my cold/sonic def and like it.

Quote:Arctic Air is NOT a stealth AoE. It is a significant control aura -- Slow, Confuse and "Afraid." It uses a LOT of endurance because it is very effective when slotted up. Max slot for EndRdx and Confuse, and it mitigates about 70% of the damage from foes in the area. They run slowly, try to run out of the area, then become briefly confused, turn around and maybe attack another foe, maybe just run around. It is as though they are really "confused." On my Ice/Storm, I love the combo of AA and Steamy Mist. Whether to take AA or Shiver depends on whether you want to be mostly in melee or in range. Most folks don't take both, but that's an option, too.
Chilblain is more of a single target damage power in low levels -- I slotted it like a damage power. Still, Ice is a very low damage set, and is painful to solo. Frostbite is crappy damage and it's not worth slotting for damage. I think Procs actually net more damage. Also, because the -knockback in Frostbite conflicts with Ice Slick, I didn't take it until late (level 30), because I needed the -knockback for Tornado. Flash Freeze is the most frequently skipped power in the Ice set, as on teams, sleeps are usually broken quickly.
I have not played the Cold set, but I understand that Fog is similar to Steamy Mist, and Sleet is similar to Freezing Rain. Think about slotting up Fog for Resists, and the damage in Freezing Rain/Sleet is so small that it is clearly not worth slotting for damage -- slot for Recharge and debuffs.
You have invested a lot in Leadership -- I would prefer going for the APP sets to get a little damage in the build. The Ice APP has two AoEs and a nice single target blast.
I goofed and missed that it's a -stealth component in Arctic Air. I looked at it in mids and the - is in the line above :P Since you've played ice I'll take your word for it and 6 slot with Coercive and see how I like it. It's a cheap purple set and I already have most of it in base.
Still gonna pass on Chilblain, but I'm looking at the fire APP to take care of damage.
I don't see Frostbite being of much use on this build because of reasons you mentioned, and with a cold secondary and Sleet, even less. I may pull it out and bring Chilblain back. I'm only taking it now for the recharge.
On my cold/sonic I slotted Pacing in Sleet, this has worked fine for me. I may look at accurate defense debuffs as well. I was messing with recharge at the time and wasn't paying attention. Yeah, I know :P I may try to get a set of Shield Breaker, but after having just checked, there's not a triple to be had at WWs. Not that I can even roll it yet, lol.
Is slotting resist in Arctic Fog gonna be that much better than defense? I did fit 2 IO resist in, but was hoping to get another end redux in there as well.
As of now, my concern is if I'm gonna have end issues with this build. I did slot some redux in a few things, and I'm hoping that will take care of most of it. I don't know if the recharge on the troller version of Heat Loss is gonna be the same as a defender, but it's about 140 on this build with current mids.
Anyhow, thanks for the help, and maybe take a look at a different build I put together. Again I'm just messing with sets trying to find a nice balance of set bonuses.

And the fact that if you're looking for some very nice cheap recharge via LotG, both can be 3 slotted and pretty much max them. Nice for the team and you
I guess that depends on if you're teaming or not. -
I've been messing with this a bit and have a rough draft for my new troller. This is a PvE team build.
I passed on Arctic Air since Arctic Fog has the stealt component I want without aggro ( correct me if I wrong on that). I plan on staying out PBAoE as well.
I want Ice Slick and Sleet up asap on teams, and I'm pretty happy with the recharge on
both.
Should I dump Chillblain for Benumb? I don't see the power as much use on teams but Benumb usefull on AVs.
The slotting isn't right I know, was just looking for the recharge as of now.
I tried Ice a long time back and deleted, but since we're getting cold as a secondary I thought I'd give it another shot. Any help is welcome.

Ok, lets stop giving vet rewards altogether so everyone's happy. Then give each account the option to post their number of months sub and or original sub date at the top of their bag list. Then people can catch up on badges and vets. Those who left and came back will be happier about coming back, and post an 6/7/04 original (example) date as their sub. While allowing those who have been here the whole time to show off their months. All happy now?
Long time vets should at least have something to set themselves apart from others.
I'm no 63 month vet either, almost 54 months here, and I only expect what I've earned for my TIME and DEDICATION! -
I have to say that getting into beta is kinda fun. I've been in a few on here, and it's been great. That said, I haven't been in for a few issues, and that's ok with me. It's not my thing to bug stuff much, and I'd rather play new content on release as to know what's coming before it goes live. There's not enought good stuff the last few issues so I'll just wait to be let down.
And no I don't like I15 or AE, I even stopped creating my own missions after the first few weeks due to farming. Just my take, no offence. -
This is a first for me, I was just wondering how frequenty others have this happen? I was running my cold/sonic def on ITF tonight, near the end I was so happy to have gotten an Armageddon (Rech/Acc), and just as it was ending I got another drop, Grav Anchor (Imb/End). On top of that, I had a Red fortune triple drop (not great, but better than my usuall) :P Anyway, I marking this down as my best drop day ever and wanted to know if else has had this happen
It was a nice 40 minutes for me!

Quote:My brain went "Mind probe" and my fingers went "Subdual". Mind Probe is a fine power, but I think I'd probably go with Assault instead.
... is there a specific reason why you need that exact level of recharge?
I'ts taken me a while to reply, please excuse as I've changed ISPs and took a bit to get it going.
Anyway, you're 100% right on assault and I have dropped my melee attack in order to fit it in my build. I did respec into this and love it. My reason for the recharge is so I keep AoEs up as much possible since I like playing on full teams.
Thanks Fulmens

Quote:Guess you've never played with a cold/sonic defenderFor quite a while, I have told my SG when they ask what to make (disscounting redside):
"HEATs add quantums (at the time were actually a bit of a problem) so don't play a HEAT.
Defenders add nothing a troller or blaster cant add, and trollers and blasters do it better, so don't play a defender.
If you can kill fast enough, you don't need to mez the enemy, so troller is out. (tho I have corrected that to add in bubblers, kins, rad's and sonics from time to time)
If you kill fast enough, you dont need aggro management, so tanker is out.
Play a scrapper or blaster, and add to the teams DPS."
As a side note, the best team ive ever been on was a fire/kin; 4 /shield scrappers of which 1 was fire, 1 was dark, 2 were BS; and we had 3 blasters, 1 fire/fire, 1 ele/ele, 1 psy/mm. That was a fun team.
As for if you add redside as an option, 8 Masterminds. Specifically, i want 8 thugs and them all use gangwar. I'm not saying its the optimal party, but man, when your side outnumbers the enemy 10:1.... -
[ QUOTE ]
Assault would give you 10.5% more damage and NOT cost you 100 million inf.
Force of Nature would let you survive otherwise unsurvivable things.
I'd much rather have either of those than Scare, and even Subdual is something I could probably live without.
I'm not coming down from the mountain saying "THOU SHALT" or anything, but that's how I'd do it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like the idea of having assault for the damage but what would I drop in order to take it?
Also, I have FoN on my current build, and I agree, it's saved me more than a few times. Kinda fun out living the rest of the team(even some crappy tanks)on the second mission of ITF. Only bad thing about this power is it's long recharge
You're right about scare, I really only took it for the recharge. I'm still playing with mids to see if I find a mix of recharge and maybe defense, as even with my current build(non perma) I can pretty much spam Howl and Pyschic Scream constantly. Kinda of a waste of all those other powers.
As for Subdue, well, you have to take it or I wouldn't.
Here's one with FoN, I may put another set of Decimation in scream to get me near perma again.

Let's just switch the Scrapper and Defender inherents. Defenders get criticals, Scrappers get Vigilance. Everyone's happy, right?

Yeah baby. My FF/Rad wants it!!!! They killed the nice buff I was getting from 5 sets of Gaussian a while back and I'd love some love -
I was just getting ready to post my new build for review. I have everything I need to make this but am still torn as to whether I should try for some defense. Here's what I have planned. Don't bother to say anything about when I took powers or the slotting, I was just looking for set bonuses

[ QUOTE ]
How is DXP meaningless because of AE? Not everyone plays AE, in fact some people play IN SPITE of AE...
[/ QUOTE ]
What I'm saying is, that if the same people that play AE boss farms continue to do so, and ignore DXP because it's still better, that should tell the devs how badly the abuse is. Not that they don't know already.
Btw, I'm one of those that play regular content in spite of AE. -
It's all been said. The state of the game is up to the devs. True. When I look at the numbers on Freedumb, I see them falling off a bit, 20 to 25% parking their butts in Atlas for a free ride to 50. You have new people coming in, and long time players leaving, Time will tell.
