    That's good to know

Truth to be told I've had so many character concepts floating about that I have not given a /ice dominator a spin yet. But I just checked back here now because I feel the urge for some icy dominating.

Hey, that's cool to hear. It's the combo I'm thinking about since I have never really tried elec control yet. It's either that or plant/ice, but I've already played plant so much.
  2. Looking at the video there's redraw... I can't believe they still add redraw to new sets.
  3. Broken_Wings

    The future sets

    We need... energy control!

Protect your team with the power of knockback !!

Don't worry mister brute, I'll keep you safe by putting a repel shield on you

    No, you can't cancel it.

It's pet spams knockback heavy energy attacks on everything.
  4. Thanks for the explanations guys.

I still can't shake that there's something really wierd about certain powersets having game mechanical penalities just because they have weapon concepts though.

The animation times have been standardized so that the time it takes to draw your weapon is actually removed from the animation time of the attack going off.

If you dont have your weapon out, the shortened animation will play.
If you already have your weapon drawn, the standard animation will play.
I.. have a hard time buying this I have to admit.

The character I played that got my attention to this matter was a empathy/dual pistols defender and between throwing out heals and attacking it felt like half the time was spend pulling out and spinning those guns around. I later changed to empathy/ice and it was soooo much better.

Are you sure about this? I guess it could just be in my head, but i'd be really surprised.
  6. Heya,

I was wondering if anybody could explain redraw for me because I have a hard time understanding it.

Like, why does it exist and what does it do exactly, gameplay wise?

It seems to me when playing that it's just a strange weakness that weapon sets have that non-weapon sets do not have to deal with and it makes no sense to me to penalise some sets just because they use weapon concepts?

Can somebody clear it up for me?
  7. Energy Control!

Control your foes with the power of KNOCKBACK!
  8. Thanks for the replies guys.

It sounds like a nice solid set and that's good news to me. I'll make a snow spirit/snow nymph kind of character with plant/ice and test it out
  9. Heya.

I'm a bit curious about Icy Assault, I don't see it mentioned much here in the forum and I don't really see it much in the game either. Looking at it though It looks pretty cool, it's even got power boost. And the ice swords are pretty

How is it compared to the other dominator secondaries?
  10. Hi guys.

Thanks a lot for all your replies, they have been very informative

I've decided to put my blaster character on hold for the moment though as I have come to think that a corrupter might be better suited for me. As I mentioned in my first post I am a very team-centric person.

So it turned into a fire/dark corrupter and I am very pleased with it
  11. Hey all. I got something I wanted to ask

What do you usually make of kinetics, concept wise? I've always had trouble with kinetics and it would be fun to hear what other people make of it.

One thing I've done is color the powers red and call it vampirism (draining strenght, and all that) but I'm not a huge fan of vampires so that did not work out long, haha.

I feel like making a kinetics character as I've never really played the set to a high level and I have no idea what to make of it
  12. Hey guys.

I want to make a blaster and from seeing other fire blasters in action that's the set I'm interested in making.

But then there's the question of a secondary.. I don't have a specific goal for the character in mind, other then that I hardly ever solo and prefer to play in teams.

    The ones that's caught my interest is /fire /dark /mm and /energy

/fire for the obvious thematic synergy of course.

/dark is new and shiny, and seems pretty interesting.

/mm seems very useful, and has a big AoE at the end.

/energy for a good mix of AoE (from the primary) and single target for more focused AV fights.

What would you take for an all-around team character? I'm very interested to hear what you think!
  13. Thanks for the replies!

The trouble stemmed from me wanting a Natural Origin samurai-themed brute with Katana and me having trouble fitting the damage aura sets into that.

But I feel that I really want one of them, especially after reading these replies so in the end i took /fire, colored it blue and said her fighting spirit is just so strong it manifests itself as blue fire, hey, it works
  14. Hey all.

I've mostly been playing ranged characters and have decided to try my hand at the Brute AT.

Basicly, about how much of your damage comes from the damage auras if you have one of those sets? From teaming with brutes, those auras seem -really- good, but at the same time I'm more drawn, concept wise, to the other defensive sets which lack the auras.

I'm especially drawn to willpower as I like the whole Natural Origin thing, but somehow it feels like I'd be missing out without a damage aura.

Am I just being silly or is the aura a big thing for brutes?
  15. Ice shield..

    Hate it... -hate it-

In a game so centered around making your own unique apperance, why make a power that hides away the entire team in ice cubes?

Yea, I know, you can make it kinda-sorta bearable by messing with it's colors, but more often then not when I end up in a team with somebody who has it it's a team of solid blocks of ice time.
  16. Hey all,

Thanks for all the replies, based on them I've decided to go with storm/ice blast. It is possible that I have had a distorted view of storm due to experiences with players who use it's powers in bad ways. But I see myself as a good and intelligent player so I will give it a try!

About Cold/Ice, I totally get what you say Rigel_Kent and I have thought about it. This might seem silly, but I seriously cannot stand the look of Ice Shield, to the point where it ruins the entire set for me, I just don't want to spend my entire gametime teaming with ice cubes. I realise the set would be otherwise perfect, both gameplay wise and concept wise.. but that's how it is. Thank you for the tip though!
  17. Hi everybody.

I just re-joined the game and feel like making something new, and I've hyped myself up over a winter fairie type of character.

I've narrowed it down to a Empathy/Ice or Storm/Ice Defender and I'd like to hear the board's opinion on what to pick based on my playstyle.

I'm a very team-centric character and pretty much never solo, I usually lead, starting missions/arcs etc and pick up people to go with me.

    My own thoughts;

Empathy: it fits my playstyle but I'm concerned that the healing role gets less and less useful the higher up in levels I get, the buffs are neat though.

Storm: Holy crap does it ever fit the character concept, storm + ice blast would make an awesome winter fairie, it's very tempting to take because of that BUT, I'm a team person and it's full of knockbacks and such ... how does it perform in a team heavy enviroment compared to empathy?

I would love to hear what you think about it.
  18. Hi everybody.

I've decided to make a Necromancy Mastermind to explore Praetoria with but I'm having trouble deciding on a good secondary, and I thought maybe I could get some help here

I almost always team so something team friendly would be best, the ones I'm thinking about most with that in mind is /dark /thermal /ff and /pain

What would you guys recomend for a Necromacy mastermind that likes teaming?

I have to admit I'm playing a Warshade now simply because I got the ability to make one, and some of the teams I'm in do look more like an alien invasion then a group of heroes

It's a bit of an evil circle in my case, I'd love to play villains but due to timezone issues there's just not enough people around there too team with when I play. So I don't play because it lacks people but at the same time I'm not helping the situation by playing there...

I'd suggest scrapper. Good at soloing or in team. Doesn't need IOs to be good, but when you'll want to, you can turn him into a god with lots of inf.
Haha, you are right sorry. My favorite ATs would be Brutes Masterminds and Dominators, so I like a wide variety of play styles.

I never really got the hang of Stalkers and Corruptors though.

Scrappers seem interesting, especially since I love playing Brutes, I think they share the same playstyle?
  22. Hi all.

I've decided to move from the Europe servers to one of the more populated US ones (was thinking Virtue, yay RP) and will be starting over so to speak. And I was wondering if anybody had some advice on a starter character that would still be fun and effective to play when you start from scratch without any infamy and such?

I've mostly been playing red side, but I thought I would try being a hero this time around, hence being a but clueless about the ATs there.
  23. Then Virtue will be my new home, thanks for the quick reply!
  24. Hello all.

I'm new to the game and was wondering if there was an unoffical RP server or something like that? I enjoy roleplay and there is so many servers to choose from, so I thought I would ask here
