Something to pair with Necro/ ?

Hi everybody.

I've decided to make a Necromancy Mastermind to explore Praetoria with but I'm having trouble deciding on a good secondary, and I thought maybe I could get some help here

I almost always team so something team friendly would be best, the ones I'm thinking about most with that in mind is /dark /thermal /ff and /pain

What would you guys recomend for a Necromacy mastermind that likes teaming?

Dark fits thematically and is a genuine powerhouse among MM secondaries. When fully equipped, a necro/dark MM is almost unparalled at locking down enemies -- you have the MM, the Lich, and the Dark Servant all debuffing the foes.

The others are fine, but you basically cannot go wrong making a /dark MM. Whichever primary you have, /dark makes it better.

Second what Cipher said, with a quick word in favor for thermal as a good runner-up to dark.

I have a /Traps and /Storm at 50, currently raising a /Thermal. Many say dark and I strongly disagree, the heal radius of dark is gross on MM. (Spoiled from my defender)

IMO my Thermal has the best potential out of my 3 Necros. With pet procs and shields, you close off a lot of holes zombies have. Doesn't have as many debuffs as dark, but can make for sturdier pets.

Anything works really, only combo I would advice against if you're new to the AT is /Trick Arrow. Make a few mixes, feel them out a bit before you decide. All MM combos do NOT play the same as with other ATs.

Ok, I couldn't resist. Thermal should be very good with Necro, but Dark is also very good. I have also done Poison for a more single target build and Storm for ultimate chaos.

I'm enjoying Thermal on my Praetorian necromancer. For what it's worth (not much), the character is now 20, and necromancy/thermal got me through all of the Praetorian content with only one death the entire time, a new record for me in that level range.

That said, it's hard to go wrong with /dark. I'd probably recommend it before /thermal, despite how much I've enjoyed /thermal. Dark miasma does a bit of everything, and, as someone else mentioned, it has controls that will combine nicely with your lich's once you get it, plus an assortment of useful debuffs and a small heal. There's a reason dark miasma is the most popular mastermind secondary.

Traps is also worth your consideration, since it has the incredible defense of Force Field Generator and the impressive debuffs of Acid Mortar available. (My favorite defender is a Traps/Pistols.) Traps does take a bit more finesse to play, though, as you have to move into melee to set Poison Gas Traps at enemies' feet and the like.

If you plan on taking Necro to the cap, I would suggest Necro/Pain. I just took out my lvl 50 Necro/Pain out yesterday and play him against +0 and 8-people game against Circle of Thorn. It was easy! Yes, I know CoT is the easiest lvl 50 mob group but if you combo Necro/Pain with Stun Aura from patron power, it is amazing! The stun aura for MM is a lot bigger than Brute's (15' radius??). And you have /pain to offset the self-damage.

Necro/Pain is my most favorite Necro combo.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

I couldn't resist either, my Necro/Thermal is named "Disco is Dead". He is a zombie in a yellow suit with a large afro. I named his pets after dead dico stars, his shields and powers are multicolored.

Burn, Baby Burn, Zombie Inferno lol

Necro/Dark/Soul. My first toon, still love it, still owns the night. I just recently bought my first full purple set Gravitational Anchor for Soul Tentacles. I have so much control I feel like a Dominator. Shadow Fall, Manuevers, and set IO's with all the To Hit Debuffs you and your pets give off, then add in your Heals, your Dark Servant's Heal allow you tank to a degree. SO MUCH TECH.

I remember way back when someone was saying /Dark wasn't as good for Necros in PvP due to the fact you hit a lot of the -debuff cap limits already with the Necro primary.
