  1. The Nemissary would remind me of something that he, as a Death Mage, knows entirely too well... That all things have an end. But he'd also add that given his own experiences, coming *to* that end isn't always or necessarily as bad (or final-) as it might seem. All in all, Nem's pretty up-beat for an eons-old dead guy.

Palrah, big teddy-bear that he is, would probably try his best to convince me that everything was going to be okay, and so not to worry about him and the others... And he'd point out that since he belongs to me in more than one form, he really won't be going anywhere. He'll just be a little quieter.

Kestrel wouldn't take it well. She'd ask if I was f-ing kidding. After that, I suspect she's just look across the room at Scir for a minute, shake her head and ask how she's supposed to protect him from something like that... "Alien invaiders, office politics, interdimensional nut-jobs? No problem. Evil reanimated death gods? Bring it... But what the hell am I supposed to do about the end of the whole damned world?"

    Agreed.

I doubt I would re-build my entire crew, either. (I have a *lot* of City characters. o_0) My three or four favorites, though? Absolutely.
  3. I plan on FRAPSing it for the collection FCM and I are building... We really need to have that map and those giant, stompy things to show people down the line.
  4. I'll be back around 2pm Pacific with Ke'khali... I was there earlier when we crashed that puppy, and would kind'a hate to see it happen again before the "official start" of the rally.

This... and it being, by design, a pretty cooperative kind of game. There's no competition for loot, no open-world PvP and no spawn-camping. (All of which, in my experience, lead to some pretty toxic conditions... Yes, I'm an Aion player. <_<)
  6. Being able to fly... Simply having the ability to take my winged characters flying anywhere I wanted, for as long as I wanted, without having to worry about "no fly zones" or "flight timers" or any of the crap Aion and other games hide the ability behind.

After spending hours just kiting around the Shadow Shard, I find that I absolutely *hate* the way flight works in Aion. I'm spoiled, and I'm afraid nothing less than another game that lets me fly the way City does is going to satisfy my inner sky-pilot.

I'm also going to miss the way side-kicking works in this game... The mastermind AT... The ability to throw my solo scrapper into the middle of a group of two dozen goons AND SURVIVE... Kestrel's collection of Lore pets... and of course, her Adept companion, Red Cardinal... And I'm going to miss the Shard. Aion's Abyss has it's own style, but it'll never be as beautiful as the Shadow Shard.

No other game will give anything like my Peacebringers, either...
  7. In a heart-beat.

I spend the vast majority of my play-time running either solo, or duo with FCM. If we could have a stand-alone version to continue playing with, I'd be all for it... Even if we never had more content for it than the game has right now.
  8. Most of mine are far too tightly tied to some aspect of the City world to translate well into other settings...

How could I have the Nemissary, for instance, without the Circle of Thorns? (He's a... well, let's call him a "mostly-reformed"... Death Mage-)

Grey Kestrel wouldn't be the same individual without her boss (Scirocco) to worry over, or her partner (a Mu Adept-) at her side.

The Elysion... my beloved "bird-things"... are Faathim's creatures. In a world without the Shadow Shard or the Rularuu, they just wouldn't be the same. They depend on having that foundation.

So, while I may have resin ball-jointed doll versions of a couple of them, and I'll probably sketch them occasionally or even tinker with writing them out, I doubt I'll ever try to recreate them in another MMO or tabletop game unless it's based in the City world.

    'Made me grin, though.

    The Last Day

I plan on playing around with Palrah as long as I can... Then just taking him back to the Chantry, where I've already parked most of my crew. I'll leave him logged on there until I get the "Lost connection to server" message.

While going out in a blaze of glory definitely has it's appeal, I think I'd prefer to say my final farewells to him more quietly.
  11. I haven't had time to read through the entire thread ('Stuck on jury duty the last two days. Yuck. XP), so these may have already come up... But-

I really want to know what the Battalion would have looked like.

... And Grey Kestrel wants to know what you were plannning to do with her boss, Scirocco. She's a little... concerned... about him.
  12. Thanks for this, Guy & Tony & Company... Even if we never have an emulator or anything of that sort, it's an excellent way to save our character's information for future reference.

    You guys rock. ^_^
  13. More than will fit in my signature. ^_^

I have 32 fifties, most of which are now +3 Incarnates...
    Palrah (WP/DB tank)
    Ty'ree (WP/DB tank)
    Ashirion (DB/WP scrap)
    Suzume (FF/Rad defender)
    Karasu (Emp/Rad defender)
    Quicksilver Falcon (BS/WP scrap)
    Li'nai (Katana/WP scrap)
    Keiranen (Archery/NRG blaster)
    Ke'kahli (DB/WP scrap)
    Khalanis (Dark/Archery defender)
    Mei'jen (DB/WP Stalker)
    Shade in Shadow (KM/WP stalker)
    Mist in Moonlight (Human/Dwarf Peaceringer)
    Anima Sola (Human/Nova Peacebringer)
    Solace of Silence (KM/WP scrap)
    Zhen'kei (TA/Archery defender)
    Summer Moon (Claws/WP scrap)
    Spring Rose (DP/NRG blaster)
    Pamina (Dark/Dark blaster)
    Anigan (SJ/WP brute)
    Nook (Fire/NRG blaster)
    Grey Kestrel (DB/WP stalker)
    Red Cardinal (Elec/Elec dominator)
    Serephim Chanter (Dark/Dark corruptor)
    Cholula (Nightwidow)
    Mameshiba (Bane)
    Kephren (Sonic/Sonic defender)
    The Nemissary (Dark/Dark defender)
    The Unquiet Bride (Necro/Thermal mastermind)
    Hanano (Ninja/FF mastermind)
    Anu (Shield/Mace tank)
    ... and Beans (Rad/Rad defender)

And then there are my dozen-or-so alts who are in their 40's...
And a handful of lowbies somewhere between 20 and 35...
  14. Agreed, dude.

Like I said in one of the other threads, my own plan is to play the heck out of this game while I still can. I figure I've got awhile yet before they take my crew away from me, so the best thing to do is make the most of it.

  15. Palrah ("Pally" to his friends-), my much-beloved dual blade tank.

Screenie taken in the Vanguard base.

    <_<
    >_>

Because he's always had a crush on Lady Grey.

And here is he playing "Good Cop/Bad Cop" with his friend Ignem. XD
  16. How about existing in this one? (At least in 1/3-scale, inanimate form... )

This is my 70cm ABJD (Asian ball-jointed doll) version of Palrah, my favorite tank. He happens to be sitting on the corner of my desk at the moment.

If I ever join up with another tabletop RPG crew that's interested in trying out BASH or Silver Age Sentinals or the old Champions system, I may yet have a pen-and-paper version of him, too. Like I said in the "favorite character" thread... I really do adore the guy. 'Always have.
  17. I actually have two "mains"... Palrah, my hero-side WP/DB tank, and Grey Kestrel, my Rogue villain-side DB/WP stalker... as well as half-a-dozen other alts that I would call Favorites. But Pally (pronounced "Paulie"-) was my first serious City character, and so he'll always have a special place in my heart.

He was the first character I learned to solo...
He was the first character I ever played with a full-sized team...

He was the one who had to suffer through me, a novice gamer with notoriously bad coordination, learning how to control the motion of a character who could fly.

I absolutely adore the guy, and always will.

This is the version of Palrah that I'm going to lose when the servers go dark...

That's not the only version of Pally that exists, though...
I was fond enough of my goof-ball, boy-scout of a tank to invest in another version a couple of years ago.

    I also have this one...

... and he'll be with me forever.

(Resin!Palrah is a 70cm Iplehouse EID Akando, with custom wings and face-painting. I consider him sort-of the ultimate action-figure.)
  18. Absolutely. Without a second's hesitation... And I'm pretty sure FCM would say the same, so that would be two accounts right there.

Heck, I was rapidly running out of character slots on my home server, and was seriously considering VIPing my secondary account when I finally did hit that limit, just so I could stay with the Liberty crew and still build new alts.
  19. I'm considering Secret World, since I like the "puzzle game" aspect of it...

I also signed up for the Marvel beta at PAX Prime on Sunday. It won't be City. I know that... But I do kind'a find the idea of running around bashing bad guys with my own version of Scarlet Witch or Nightcrawler entertaining. I grew up with Marvel comics and still have a lot of affection for some of their cast.

You might be surprised how many of us "City folk" also moonlight as deavas.
  21. I've looked through all of my oldest screen shots for pictures of Lex, from Liberty... But I don't have any.

I really hope LordAllmighty or someone else from the crew has some, because she was great. She helped coach Pally and I through some of my first "tanking for a real team" missions.
  22. I've already posted this to the LB and Ouph channels a couple of times.... But if you do the Facebook thing, this is me:

    Please do, Om.

I still really love the piece you did for Faathim. ^_^
  24. See, this is how I know I have way too many alts... and that, when you get right down to it, badger, raider and iTrialer or not, I really never have been more than a "casual" player.

My five favorites... which include both Palrah and Grey Kestrel, my Hero- and Villain-side mains, as well as Shade in Shadow, The Nemissary and Ashirion...*all* clock in at less than 600 hours each.

Ash is actually (just barely-) in the lead, at 566.
Nem is still relatively new among the favorites, so he's only gotten 130.

My two-dozen or so other 50s all fall somewhere between 90 and 300.
  25. I've already taken most of my Elysion back "home"... I took them all to the Chantry. They're parked where they need to be. Where they, as a species, started. With Faathim. Only my favorites are still flying around at-large, currently, waiting to be parked when the end is a little closer.

There are a few exceptions, though... Birds who didn't want to return to the roost for one reason or another. Mei'jen, my very first stalker, was logged off for the last time yesterday beside Vernon von Grun, in Grandville. She's always had a bit of a thing for that goofball. She planned someday, when her Lord Nemesis finally took over the world, to ask him if she could keep Vernon as a pet. That was her way of showing affection for him.

Anteros, who joined the Carnival of War, was left on the top of the Westerman building in First Ward, along with Semnai, his partner. A human and former seer. He went through too much to find her and get her back... No way he'd leave her behind now.

Song of Autumn, who never left Praetoria and never would have, is with her friend Raymond Kang in Imperial City. After everything, tank that she is, she's still trying to protect him.

Pamina and Tamino, who were supposed to be Menders, are in Oro with Silos. They agreed that he needs their particular talents at this point in time more than Faathim and the other Elysion do. Tamino is never wrong about that kind of thing.

... and when the time comes, Grey Kestrel isn't going to be anywhere but where she belongs. Right beside Scirocco. The guy she'll always grin and call "Boss" in my mind, no matter what happens to either of them or the world around them. She's nothing if not devoted. Ferociously so, right to the end. Cardinal, of course, is with her. He'd follow her to hell and back if she asked him to, so staying in Grandville isn't an issue.

The non-Elysion are scattered... Beans, my little radioactive stinkbug, who was always very proud of "being made of SCIENCE!" took up a position on one of the glowing, green smokestacks of Antimatter's reactors. He'll watch over them as long as he can.

I left Kephren, my Siren, beside Marcus in Cimerora. She's sitting on the edge of the fountain, and will never tell him what she knows his future will be. She's too fond of him for that.

Mister Bibbles and Mister Mistoffolees, my two cat familiars using their arcane masters' purloined magic to look human, are in the Midnighter's Club. They'll probably never sort out their differences. Cats don't forget or forgive very easily.

Anu, the guardian bull and the avatar of an ancient a sky god, is standing next to Imperious, in his full Roman armor... Ready as ever to pound the snot out of Romulus, or anyone else who threatens the city.

Tao Tiger and its pilot are hanging around Fort Trident. Steam Monk is in the rooftop garden of my favorite building in Atlas. Star Dasher, a child's imaginary friend made real, is at the Mother of Mercy hospital in First Ward. It's the last place he can remember seeing the little girl he belonged to.

Hanano, my ninja mastermind, I'll leave in the dojo of her base, with Akuram and her brothers.

Nuwisha, my beast mastermind, will be staying with Woodsman in Eden, because that's where Grandfather Coyote would tell her she was needed.

Alshain, my warshade, is on Striga with Toby Hansen.

... and I don't know where I'm going to leave Nemissary, my death mage, and his Unquiet Bride yet. I'd take them to Thorn Island if they had access to red-side, but they're both heroes... The Bride did manage to redeem that grumpy old ghost in the end... so that's a no-go. Both being dead, maybe I'll leave them in the graveyard in the echo of Dark Astoria. They both belong to the court of the underworld now, after all. Courtiers of the Queen of the Dead. Maybe that's fitting...
