Quote:I do have other low-to-mid-level characters I could run through it, but Anteros needs to be there for theme reasons (He's a Praetorian, and my Carnival of War guy-) and I'd rather not put him on the back-burner for however many months it'll take for i22 to go live.well, just a thought, but since it appears a major stalker buff is imminent in i22, do you have other characters that might be a little less vulnerable to praetoria's ambushes until i22 and you get tougher? obviously, im not trying to tell you how to play your game, but it seems to me that it might help a bit if you didn't like your first run to run a different character. (for the record, i have been doing it with a kin scrapper and a cold/sonic defender. the defender had some rough patches, the scrapper seemed to be up to the task though really well)
Honestly, I don't expect the Stalker buffs to make that much of a difference in how the place plays either. I build my Stalkers to scrap already (You've run trials with Kestrel, Shade and Surruna. You've seen what I throw them into the middle of.) so it's not really a matter of hit points or attack chains. It's things like enemies that randomly decide they can see through Hide, enemies that have to be defeated twice (the possessed soldiers and such-), heat seeking ambushes that pile in no more than a few seconds apart, and pets that alternately can or can't follow you through Hide apparently depending on the phase of the moon, the day or the week or what kind of toast you had for breakafast. (Orb, I'm looking at you. <_<) The upcoming improvements won't do a thing for any of that.

It's not a pretty picture for the Praetorian Carnival...
I can just imagine Anteros (my own Carnival of War guy-) looking around at the remains of his own faction... scattered, leaderless and pretty much decimated by insane former members of their own group... and then at his Carnival of Light friends, all milling around wondering if they're going to have to trade in their masks and armor for Gothic eyeliner and hot-pants, since those seem to be the only assets Desi brings to the table... and coming to the well-nigh inevitable conclussion that they're all completely hosed. -
I liked the characters and the story well enough (Even though I did get a little tired of the repeated "Okay, time to do something horrible to my friends. Again."-thing...), but from a playability standpoint it was annoying as all hell.
See, I went through it the first time solo. With a Stalker. <_<
I knew it would be a pain on a Stalker going in, just because a lot of things in Praetoria are. That's the way the place was designed... But about half-way through the early arcs I seriously began to wonder if a Stalker had ganked Protean's puppy as a child or what. There's 'Hostile to Stalkers' and then there's 'Let's see just how useless we can make you, you sneaky jerks!', and whole swaths of First Ward fall solidly under that second heading.
I'm about to head there with another Stalker... I doubt my reaction this time will be any different, but I figured it was worth giving it a second chance. Now that I know what I'm in for, maybe Anteros will fare better than Whisper did. o_0 -
Solar vs. Terrestrial archery charms.
(And yeah... Exalted style over-the-top fight scenes is what I'm really going to see Immortals for, so as long as it gives me that I'll be content.) -
I bought a couple of the LotG +rech MOs for my secondary account. That one's going preem in January and hasn't been around long enough to get inventions unlocked, so it seemed like a nice thing for my two scraps to have.

Quote:It's a typo.Since you bought the LotG sets are they set to a minimum level of 30 or is that typo?
I bought a couple of the +rech Gamblers for my secondary account's characters (That one's going Preem in January, and hasn't been around long enough to get regular IOs unlocked-). I had no trouble slotting one of them on my lvl 24 Fire scrap. -
I actually got both on the 22nd last month... and my secondary account seems to have gotten its November token some time this afternoon. So, while the dates are close, they don't match in either case. Which is weird. o_0

Quote:Same for me. My main account got one out of the blue yesterday. As far as I can tell, that doesn't match up to any date connected with the account... Including the day the token showed up for it last month.I got my Paragon Reward Token on the 23rd. It is not my billing date (7th), my old Vet Reward day (12), a full month played (if calculated from Sep 28), or any day recognizable as meaningful. This is about as bad as forgetting your significant other's birthday, or heaven forbid your mother's birthday.
My secondary account, which got its token the same day as the main last month, still hasn't recieved one for November. -
Quote:Will it be offered at the same sale price, or at the "full price"? <_<Just popping in here to update you guys regarding an item we had to remove from the Black Friday sale:
- Late yesterday we discovered a fairly egregious bug with the Numina's Convalescence set, so we made the decision to pull the item from this weekend's sale. Once we fix the bug we'll give everyone another chance to purchase it.
Sorry about anyone who was anticipating this one, however we felt it was important to fix the issue prior to people paying Paragon Points for it.
Thanks and Happy Turkey Day everyone!

I want one of these.
Simple. Graceful. Understated... And absolutely perfect for making a City version of my favorite tabletop Exalted character.
I wouldn't say no to a Titan scythe, either. -
Huh. A ShopIO version of Numina's...
I do like that set, and use it fairly often on my characters that need that sort of thing, so... Yeah. You may just have gotten me with that one.
Now, if only you'd added Character Slots to that sale list... With all the new, spiffy power sets in the pipe I'll be needing a few of those. -
Quote:Fair enough... I never claimed I wasn't an idiot, after all..... and the part that wants to answer bluntly, "So, next time, pay attention."
But mistakes, concept evolution and plain, flat-out bad picks are still going to happen sometimes, no matter how careful we are on the whole. It would be nice to have a way to correct them when they do. -
I think simply making the "exculsives" only exclusive to the packs for a specific amount of time, and then available as regular-purchase items afterwards, is the most reasonable 'middle ground'...
That not only allows those of us who are adverse to rando-boxes a way to eventually access those items (and I do think it should include ALL of the exclusives - both the costume pieces and the ATIOs), it also allows the devs to cycle and refresh what they include in the packs, which will help sustain sales.
Rando-Box Set 1 might include the Particle Man costume set, the Striga temp powers and the Tank and Brute ATIOs as its exclusives, say. A few months later, they could release Rando-Box Set 2, with the Triangle Man armor, the Blaster and Corruptor ATIOs and the Preatorian gun temps... shifting the Set 1 exclusives to the regular shop.
Both they, and we, could have our cake and eat it too with that sort of set-up. Sure, Marketing would worry over losing potential rando sales because of people who had the patience to wait and eventually buy the exclusives normally... But I think it's important to stop and ask, realisitcly, how many of those people would have actually ponied up for the x-dozen packs it would have taken them to assemble the complete set in the first place (And lets be honest here, it WILL take dozens of the things to get a full set. No one should try to kid themselves about that. It's just the nature of the beast.) and how much is that potential loss off-set by their purchase of the set when it goes into the normal shop, plus additional sales from people who would never even have considered the random method? -
Quote:Indeed.Great minds thinking alike, all in rapid-fire fashion. Devs? Sounds like we have a winner for sure here.
I can't speak for everybody, but I know I'd end up buying a lot of those if they offered them.
See, I tend to build characters in pairs... particularly my bird-things... and the whole idea of being able to have even a doppleganger-style approximation of any of the crew's "other half" running around a mission with them makes me grin like a Cheshire cat. I suspect it would use a lot of server resources, so the price tag wouldn't be cheap... but still, I don't think that would really stop me. Getting to see Ash and Ty, Shade and Mist, or the Unquiet Bride and her Nemissary double-team some poor goon would be well worth the price.
Another thing I would second the suggestion for... a Zone Teleport temp power. I imagine that eiher working something like Aion's travel scrolls (which each take you to one specific area) or like the current transit/oro/wentsport options we already have in-game, that give you a pop-up menu to select your destination from. Those would be very useful if you're in, say, Primeva and want to get to First Ward. All zones you have access to should be available one way or the other, including the co-op and PVP zones. -

Several of mine still have their first costumes... Often because that's still just the way I think of them being dressed. They may have other costumes that they wear sometimes... but those first outfits are still their default, their signature look. They wouldn't be the same without them.

Quote:Blue rules, and your aunt watching and asking questions is kind'a cool.I'm glad Wulf was there to be the 'main tank' as it were...got to do something other than tank
I wonder how she'd like having a try at playing the game herself?
Quote:One thing that Wulf did was had all the taunters (tankers/etc) go with him and the rest of us attacked...not sure how well that worked; but it seemed to do a good job.
Quote:Avatar went down pretty easily; think we only had 2 or so clarions too...not sure though. -
I have Ion on my favorite stalker to match her Mu Mastery powers... I'll probably have it on my Elec dominator for the same reason. I find myself picking Pyro a lot more often though. 'Just love that big fireball.

Quote:I can't speak for anyone else who would like the option, but it's purely a concept/RP thing in my case...This isn't a reproach but a simple question; Why would you "need/want" to change your origin other than for simple backstory/rp reasoning? I would think if you are that engrossed in your toon's "history" this would be something well thought out ahead of time.
When I created Kestrel and Surruna I just picked the "Magic" origin for them out of pure habit. That's what the rest of my Rularuu bird-things are, and it's the enhancement set whose names I'm most familiar with.
Trouble is, those two aren't really magical creatures. Their back-story gives them a completely different genesis than the rest of their species. They're lab-created artificial hybrids. I *should* have given them both Science origins... and I would have if I'd paused to give it any thought at the time.
But I didn't, and now they're stuck with origins that don't match their basic concept. (And since both are fully-equipped, 50+3 full Incarnates that I've been playing long enough to get attached to, it's much to late to just to scrap them and start over.)
So, while it's a minor detail with no in-game importance at all, I'd still like the option to change it. Having the "wrong" origin attached to them is like having a little splinter that you can't dig out. Not major by any means, not deadly... but still annoying when you notice it's there. -
Quote:As far as blocking the buff pets completely from a Kheldian in forms goes... Remember that they get Nova at level 6.I too am seriously against the buff pets being included on this list.
Yep, they die easy, and yep the bonus isn't all that much, but consider this:
The defense pet is 3% - the same amount that ppl will pay 2B+ for in IO-form.
No question, the IO has more going for it, but I have several characters (including
a PB) that use those pets, and once again, this is yet another dev change that
was poorly thought out, and even more poorly implemented.
I'm fine with a Vanity pet limit, but functional combat pets? No. Hell No.
Regards,
4
When you're that much of a lowbie, drifting around in a notoriously fragile form every little bit helps. Even something as small as the buff pet can make a difference.
And that's not even getting into plain issues of fairness. No other AT has to deal with limitations that harsh... It's not right that PBs and 'Shades have to. -
I think you're right about having a "usual time" making the trial easier to form, Ukaserex... Saturday is probably our best bet.
I also suspect that the more we run through the UG, the more people we'll eventually have who understand the mechanics of the Warwalkers and the Avatar fight. That'll be a definite factor in how tough or easy a time we have of it...
I watched an otherwise pretty strong league crash against the Lichen walker yesterday afternoon due in large part to players not really understanding how being targetted for the thing's special attacks worked, and no knowing which (and how quickly-) fungi needed to be destroyed to prevent its regeneration. If the group had been just a little more experienced and a little more comfortable with the specific requirements of that fight, we'd have beaten the snot out of that thing instead of running out of time. We had more than enough fire-power to have flattened it under better circumstances.
With regular runs and a solid, core group of people who are familiar with what's going on, I think we'll see a lot less of that kind of failure.
