Okay, I love the Scrappers and Stalkers AT, to me these are the superhero ATs (Brutes to, but I prefere Scrappers)...the ability to solo everything, without feeling so damn squishie. Dominators too, but they take a little while long to get there.

VEATS go into the above category as well, but I find they're limited in concept (if you stick with their actual in game background) and boring to play untill you hit level 24.

Mind you, when I say this, I say this as picturing the toon in it's own comic.

That said, I find Defenders, Trollers, and Corruptors (and okay, MM's, but the playstyle bores me), to be the best team toons out there for all they add to the team, no matter the combo (though some of the combos the player needs to know how to play...Stormies for one need a good player behind them to be useful imo).

If you want a bit of armor, go VEAT for their team buffs.

    Agree/Disagree

Disagree. Anything I can access on my stalker, I can access on other ATs as well.

Take a good look at the sets Claws, Dual Blades, Dark Melee, Kinetic Melee. Each of these sets have had their native +damage / +to-hit power replaced: Follow up, blinding feint, Soul Drain, and Power Siphon are all gone in the stalker builds, replaced with build up.

Super-Stength as a set, actually relies on the Rage power to drive the sets total DPS. I've been over this multiple times in the forums, so if you actually do care about the technical reasons, please use the search function.

The short version is, for Tanks and Brutes the Super Strength power-set is one of the weakest power-sets on straight power per power listed damage and damage per activation. Only after the Rage damage has been added is Super Strength comparable in terms of Total Damage and Damage Per Activation to other sets.

Taking rage out of the set, a REQUIREMENT... let me repeat that... REQUIREMENT for being added to the Stalker Pool, would require the developers having to rebalanced the figures for each individual power to match the expected Total Damage / DPA for each attack still in the Super Strength set.

This would mean that attacks such as Jab, Punch, Haymaker, and Knockout blow, if kept, would have a much higher total damage compared to the same power on a Brute. This would also mean that stalker version would not have the benefit / disadvantage / offset, whatever you want to call it, of the Rage Crash. This means additional changes to the numbers in order to fit Total Damage and DPA for each power into an envelope where the set is competitive.

Then there is the really big problem. Without Rage, the set just becomes a series of 1 / 2 punches.

Taunt Becomes Placate, Hand Clap goes bai bai for Assassin's Strike, and Rage goes bai bai for Build up.

That just leaves Jab, Punch, Haymaker, Knockout blow, Hurl and Footstomp.

Which basically means you have Energy Melee without the glowing hands.

Stalkers already get Energy Melee. Not to mention, a Super Strength set would have more straight single target damage than EM, so kiss another power good-by for something with a mez effect, which would likely be a quick melee stun... and um.

You've still got nothing but Energy Melee without the glowy hands.

So no. Super Stength is just not a candidate for stalkers.
While I'm not saying Stalker Super Strength would get it (if it was ported at all, and I'm not for it, mind you)...I think you're missing one point.

Those other build up powers were replaced, because they require you to attack to get the build up, or in the case of Power Siphon, it could be activated while hidden, but wouldn't give you any benefit untill you attacked, then attacked again.

Rage on the other hand would work just fine from hide, unlike the others.

One would have to watch the timer on it of course, or else a zero damage AS, but it would at least, still work.

And there are many types of AV in the game. Are we talking about the real ones with purple triangle or just some AV in AE mission? Those are much easier to deal with and I am sure Stalker can handle them.

Are we talking about you soloing Ghost Widow or something similar?
I thought we were talking about soloing AVs in general, during missions.

Will all AVs beable to be soloed? Of course not. Scrappers and Brutes can't even solo every AV (Domique is a pain!).

As for end management, build for it. It's not like those /SR Scrapper/Brutes have QR and they solo AVs.
  7. While I love the idea of seeing "The Expendables" of horror. I'd rather see it take itself a bit more serious.

    Not have Bruce play himself.

I'm not saying it can't have the B-movie feel, I'd just like it to be a bit more...hmmm...I guess I'm thinking taking itself a bit more serious, and less, "okay this is going to be a stupid but fun loving horror movie"...I think that's what I mean

As to its appeal, that's a question only the individual can decide. Critically this movie's getting roasted, in fact all of them have been. Personally I give critics about as much credence as I'd give any random person giving me their opinion, in that sure they might make sense, have a different take, or just plain be interesting, but I'll make my own decision anyway. I like the movies, that's all that matters to me.
Where? Tell me where I missed Jill, so when I see it again, I can catch it

As for Claire and her brother, and Whesker saying thorns in his side, the difference between 2 & 3, it's stuff that just hasn't been explained.

    Will it? No idea.

However, figure some time has gone by between 2 & 3, Alice had taken off from her friends, and the world went to hell quickly, seeing as how easy the virus spread, and Umbrella Corporation doesn't seem to interrested in actually stopping it, it's no wonder things went bad quickly.

Though that said, I think there would be some other groups doing okay, making their way through the zombies. The big bad zombies seem to be the exception, not the general rule.

I remember when the V belt was changed, it used to have a bulkier look, which I loved on one of my toons, and now...gone. :/

I'm in a different time zone than most, so I generally don't team, also a personality thing, but whatever. Hit and run shouldn't be our primary tactic in team play in most scenarios. We do need some buff to our team role, but does improving our solo viability as well is important.

For solo play we need a shorter cooldown on hidden status and a -regen or -res proc on assassin's strike to help us with AVs.

For group play we need an increase to crit damage and possibly some other fixes.

There needs to be a way to fix both the solo and group shortcomings without making stalkers overpowered.
Hmmm...I'm actually at a loss to what you're saying then. I have no problem with the soloing.

didn't have problems with soloing a stalker before the buffs, and havent had a problem afterwards.

Solo, if you want to hit and run, you can do easy enough.

If by soloing you mean farm, well that's a different story, however, I don't think faming ability (I have no problem with people farming, when I say this), should be a factor in anything.

Do defeat all missions become a PITA with a single target specialist? Yeah. But then, Stalkers aren't the only single target specialists out there.
  11. All that powers me less than the Pulling tactic.

"Hmmm, Bob's been shot! Eh, we'll let him deal with it on his own."

"Wow, now Marcus has been shot. I'm sure he can take care of it on his own."

"Hey Dave's been shot! You and you with me! Ummm...the rest of you continue to ignore all of us beeing shot!"

    Blaster: "Damn, bad pull!"

I never really liked the games... and haven't played them very much at all. I saw the first movie and thought it was decent. Saw the second movie on TV and wondered what horrible atrocity I committed to deserve such punishment (though I did like the actress who played Jill). DVR'd the third movie and was left wondering where the connection between 2's cliffhanger and 3 was... Come to think of it... I'm pretty sure I watched it all the way to the end and yet I can't remember *how* it ended. It must have bored me so much that I just blocked it out of my mind.

Now there's a fourth movie and I'm absolutely stunned that it even made it passed the concept stages. Granted, I haven't seen it... but I've seen the others and I can't imagine this one being any better or worse.

As far as I can tell, there's no real story holding the series together other than 'Virus breaks out/zombies rule the earth' and 'Alice is a clone supersoldier dealio'. This also makes me wonder if there's ever going to be any real resolution.... or if the series will just run out of money and stop producing films.
I've enjoyed all four movies, will watch the 5th for sure!

I have to say though, I've felt the series go from a horror/action, to a action with creepy looking bad guys (best way I can describe the changes). Still, enjoyed it

To anwer the question, the connection between 2 and 3, is really, that time has gone by, and Alice has kept herself from her friends because she can be tracked.

What I'll have to rewatch, is I don't recall ever hearing mention of Jill in #3. I'd assume she was killed at some point.

If we can do that without collateral damage, that sounds like a winning plan to me.

If it was just about me, I'd go for Option 1 because I'm really excited about the newest, coolest stuff (no surprise there!). But I'm not the only guy playing this game. I want each and every one of you to have an awesome experience on your own terms, so ultimately I'll cast my vote with everyone's interests in mind.
I'm of mixed views on it.

Truthfully, I love my mains signature outfit...which uses the tights top option (with hacker decal), and bikini 2 bottom.

I'd go the shiney route if bikini 2 had a shiney option!

I might even go with patent leather top, if there was a bikini bottom that blended in well with it.

And that's part of the problems I've had with the newer sets. They look great! They just don't mesh well.

I'd love to have the bikini bottom of Mother Mayhem's outfit, that has a bit of a dimension (I think is the word Im looking for) to it, but would want it to blend with the top.

    So... Stalkers.

Because then teams won't want you for one.

Before the changes to stalkers, I treated my stalker the same way as I did now...get into the middle of the group, pick my target, release one big hit, then scrap it out.

Which target I picked, depended on a mob to mob basis. Sometimes I'd want that Minion or LT taken out in one shot, sometimes I knew it was better to get as much damage done to that boss first, then worry about the others.

Basically, I've played my stalkers as a scrapper with better invisibility.

Hit and run can work for solo (it becomes a matter of patience), but on teams, boring, and you're not helping your team at all (and thusly why stalkers have gotten a bad rap).

You're stalker is tougher than that blaster, corruptor, defender, troller...maybe not that Dominator though >_>

And really, hit and run would only be useful if you killed that target in one hit. And I just don't see Stalkers always taking out the boss level enemies in one shot (outside of inspirations being buffed) as happening. Not enough to make it worthwhile for the team to have a hit and run type.
  17. I'll let you know in about 3 more levels.

Stalkers have the DPS, that's easy to figure out.

My KM/WP will be at the health cap, with softcapped S/L Defense, and about 39% E/N Defense.

The health I don't figure should be to much of a problem, as I can't picture /SR scrappers having all that much more health than a max HP stalker.

For example...Stalkers have 1606, and if I recall, Bill Z Bubba's Claws/SR Scrapper is sitting around the 1800 range. That's just 200 more health, which gives a little bit more leeway, but I wouldn't think by much.

For my KM/WP, I'll be using SB - BB - FB - SB - BB - CS - repeat, replacing FB with placate + AS about every 2 or 3 strings.

The main DPS string according to mids (with my slotting and accounting for arcanatime), is 167.53

However, this doesn't account for Assassin Strike, as I have no idea how to figure out AS's damage from placate (would I just double what mids shows or not?).

This doesn't account for missing either, which I figure will drop it to roughly 155ish (on the regular chain).

This won't have Stalkers soloing GMs, but I don't see AVs being a problem, outside of surviving them, and with some defense thrown in, I don't see that being a problem.

END issues will be a problem if not taken into account as well, and I think my build has the end covered (will for sure in i19 )...all that's left is those 3 levels (well and getting that PvP IO, but I'll start trying to solo AVs before I get that bought )

  20. Scrapper and here's why!

Look at those Claw animations! Do they seem brutish to you? Nooo. Some might not even think they look scrapperish enough. But they all agree, they don't look like "OMG! If this game was rated MA, I might actually throw up at the brutal carnage I just unleashed on that Dark Ring Mistress!"

When you picture a brute with claws, you picture limbs laying halfway across the room, as the insides get dragged along by the brute because they're just so full of fury they haven't bothered to wipe them off!

Which by the way, is just unsanitary to the next victim, who may just get some sort of STD from the last victim. Is that fair to them? The last thing they get before the crime scene clean-up crew comes in to clean up the little pieces of them that's left on the floor and cieling, is something that's could easily leave them with a social stigma for what would of been the rest of their lives.

    But...I digress.

Go Scrapper, untill alternate animations come in for some really brutal looking animations for claws.

  22. Thanks for the replies

I thought I was seeing it all wrong before, when playing the game...watching the health bars drop when ASed (from hide or from being placated)...but I was remember threads saying AS was poor DPS.

So, it's just poor DPS when using it as a regular attack, instead of when getting the 100% crits!

Whew. Glad I asked I had been using it against AVs on TF thinking something had to be wrong with that thinking.

We aren't getting vehicles for reasons discussed in other threads.
You know, it may not make since when used out side of places with skyscrappers, but then some people might think superjumping through water looks just as stupid.

Or that making a D&D looking toon for a city set in modern times, that's a superhero genre and not D&D fantasy genre looks stupid.

Point...it's in the eye of the beholder. And I've seen what a swingline can look like without skyscrappers around, and it's not all that bad at all, since it pretty much goes off screen.

However, if they add a swingline set, I'd say make it like ninja run...something that comes with a booster.

However, if they do any more booster travel powers, I want to be able to slot it! Ninja Run should be slottable. It's not that game breaking! In fact, if I do slot it, it means I'm losing slots for powers in other areas.

Not that I'm endorsing the devs making packs for new powers or power sets all the time now.

As for other animations...I'd love to see Fly get an animation of ice slides and standing on a rock flying around.
  24. ...where exactly does this (Assassin Strike), fall in line on a DPS build?

Whether I'm trying to solo an AV or take one down with a team, my plan is the same, as I'm trying to take down the AV as fast as possible.

So, the discussion isn't about soloing AVs (which in game, I'd say a majority of the player base has no intention of doing), but rather the use of Assassin Strike when my stalker is up against one, solo OR teamed.

Now...no matter the toon I'm on, I try to use the attack string that's going to deliver the damage, but if I recall, using AS in the attack string wasn't the best for DPS.

Now, thinking about it, maybe I misread those other threads? Does using my best DPS string, placating, then delivering an AS, back to the DPS string, improve DPS?

Have another thread going on, saying AS deliver the most damage out of any attack. So, I would think it would be an awesome DPS attack (obviously from hide).
  25. Is Anime ruining Comic Books? No.

Comic books are ruining comic books.

Fans, the high ups in the comic book industry, they're what's ruining comic books.

They let writers and artists get away with things that would frankly get someone fired in most other job markets, and never get hired back.

"Oh. I'm bored with this title. I want something new. So I'll stop half way through and let others finish it or just never let it be finished at all."

Or you get the higher ups like Joe Q. "I don't care how it is now, I want to change it to my way, and I don't care if it makes sense."

Comic books have lost consistency to the point that they're becoming less and less worthwhile.

With manga (at least with the manga ported over here) you tend to get a start and a finish. For those running long enough, you're not getting 20 different people's vision on it within a 2 year time frame.

Not to mention, comics are a visual media...so people pick up a book who's artwork they like, only to have it change out from them 5 issues later.

Good example...Gen-13. When it first came out, I enjoyed both the writing and art (not going to say it was the best ever for either, just that I myself enjoyed it).

Then what happens? A new artist! Okay! I still like the artwork and story I guess I can keep it up. Wait, new writer?! Wow, it's terrible. But the story is good, so I'll keep reading it. Wait what? New artist, and the artwork sucks (or didn't fit the comic, what have you), and I'm stuck with a terrible writer?! Okay...only so much I can take, I'm not going to pay for both a terrible story AND terrible artwork.

Oh look! New writer and artist and it's good! But I caught it to late, and now they're cancelling it.

    Wait! It's back...only it's not back...it's different...wait WTF!

Oh! Now look! They retconned everything and are starting over! *Sigh*

Now that's just with a rather new comic. Lets look at it on an older title.

OMG! Big change is coming! That...hmmm...now...they're saying didn't happen. *Sigh*

OMG! Big change is coming! That...hmmm...wtf...no one wanted this. *Sigh*

Yes. A story that's been going on for 40-60 years needs to revamped, put up with the times a bit. But not a total roll reversal.

For instance. I'd be okay with Wonder Woman's costume change, IF, I knew it was part of a storyline that was going to have her back to the Wonder Woman costume and Wonder Woman I enjoyed as part of the story, rather than...well, if the fans don't like are new hip change, then we'll just say it didn't happen.

Or if they didn't say "We have a new movie coming out! We have to make changes to the comic to mirror the movie a bit more!" *glares at the X-Men movies* The Mystique change annoyed the hell out of me in the comics!

Oh! We're going to kill off a long running fan favorite character (or mess with them so much as to totally change them) to change things up! If it's not liked, we can always change it! If it is liked, well...we may or may not. At least for awhile!

I know for me, X-Men starting dying with the loss of my two favorite characters (one of which they started changing so much from his original self), of Jubilee and Gambit.

This has of course happened in other comics...I'm using some of my own personal examples.

From DC comics...huh...what...Power Girl and Super Girl...huh...what...I'm lost...wait what's going on?!

Killing off Bruce Wayne Batman is never a good idea. The fans know it won't last, so at least give them the opening right away to see it won't last. Instead of them sitting in the background getting invested in the new storyline, while the others are dropping it, so they may not even get to enjoy the new direction, because it's going to go right back to the basics...so why waste the money on it?

Or how everything is going to be changed ina year, when a new writer decides they know what's best!

If artists and writers started staying around for more than 1-24 issues, comics would be back on track to doing great. As it is now, you're getting a new person's vision of how it should be.

Artists and writers don't want to stay at one job, you know, like everyone else tends to have to do, because they know hey...they don't have to!
