Quote:I actually don't see a problem with the NPC one, but I'd leave it limited to minions, maybe LT, rank enemies.Im a sucker for some wasted time. I used to play EQ back in the day when it was at its height and i remember there were plentiful amounts of vanity type powers that had little or no function other than to amuse, entertain, and add depth to a character. I think it is one aspect that coh has not yet developed further but one that i think could ultimately seal the deal in terms of playability and over all attractiveness of the game. Why? Because it's the little things that make a huge difference. Let's say for instance that someone is playing a mind dom. Wouldn't it add leagues more depth to the experience of playing a mind dom if maybe you had a power in which you could control a random NCP and attack as that character. Or maybe an illusion troller might be able to set different appearances on himself/herself and on other players.
I think alot of those sort of vanity powers wouldn't be too difficult to implement and would add tremendous depth to the game.
That said, Confuse sort of does the same thing, without you actually controlling them, doesn't it?
The illusion idea makes lots of sense, in a shouldn't an illusion maker beable to do such a thing type of way. The problem comes in the griefing players would endure from other players who just want to be dumb.
Think people complain now about drive by buffs? Just imagine drive by illusion casting. -
I wanted to see it before this clip, but loved seeing the clip

Quote:Isn't it part of the EULA that only one person uses the account to begin with?Blizzard will do it for people if they can show ownership of both accounts or for situations like my little brother, son, daughter, other relative was using my account and now has their own.
Would be a nice feature to have available for those very same reasons.
I recall that being the case. -
Quote:That's it?! o.OBeginning in Issue 13, base rent will be calculated based on the number and type of items placed in a base. Plot size and security/hidden status no longer have any effect on rent. Please note that Items of Power no longer provide Upkeep bonuses under this new system.

[QUOTE=Daemodand;3565967]As for costumes, my two most-complimented-in-game ones (ie, my only complimented-in-game ones) are both pretty much just tights. Just your basic Golden-Age Tanker and Scrapper looks. With the current tendency for people to go overly ornate/complex with their looks, breaking it down to basics and making a strong statement about the character with a simple but distinctive costume is a good way to stand out.[QUOTE]
Same.
I've been asked before how I made great outfits, and I just said "Stuck to the basics"
This isn't to say great costumes can't be made with the other awesome, OMG so intricate pieces...but I find most people don't often mix them well. -
Quote:o.OIssue 20 offers only two new incarnate trials, new incarnate slots, 1.5 task forces below level 50 (Sorry Villains), a LFG queue, leagues and some Arachnos helos in the middle of Longbow bases (No I didn't make that up lol).
As of right now, no new costume pieces, no power proliferation, no power/epic pool/ custimization, etc.
I am curious to hear opinions as to why a NDA was required for any of this content, or is this secretive content being planned for issue 21? Thoughts?
1.5 TFs?
Both sides are getting a level 20-40 TF.
Now not saying I personally wouldn't have wanted either other things or different things. But, the turnstile thing could of been a lot of work for all we know. -
Quote:I think it's more because out of the JLU, Batman is more popular than say Green Arrow. Also, why is Batman always the one to get called out on this? There are plenty of characters with the exact same dynamic, yet nobody seems to say anything about them. I'm guessing it's just cause Batman's really popular.
Marvel has a few heroes who've been put in over what their usual solo title would go...like Spider-Man in space! But he doesn't tend to get big bad new tech out of it, and it happens less often. -
Quote:Actually I can see Batman in a world with Superman.By that logic nearly 50% of superheroes would have to be retired cause the Superman-level ones are more powerful than them. The Question would be out of a job. Heck, the entire Bat-family is apparantly obsolete. Green Arrow and Hawkeye are out. Even Capt. America would be up for the chop since he's nowhere near Iron Man or Thor level.
It just seems like such a strange argument to me. I'm not against making a "Batman in the real world" movie, and Nolan really hit it outta the park. I just don't cotton to the claims that Batman ONLY makes sense in that setting.
No, wait. Actually, I DO agree with that statement. I just don't give a ****. It's like when people point out that Indiana Jones could never survive falling out of a plane on a life-raft or be saved from a nuclear explosion by a fridge.
Who cares?
That's one of the main reasons I GO to movies (or read comics). I WANT to see the scrappy hero overcome odds he should have no chance of surviving.
Also, why is Batman always the one to get called out on this? There are plenty of characters with the exact same dynamic, yet nobody seems to say anything about them. I'm guessing it's just cause Batman's really popular.
For all that Superman is, he can't be everywhere at once. This has been proven time and time again.
Sure, Superman could go to Gotham and keep the streets clean, but then other things begin to happen...
...new criminals show up who think they can take out Superman. So, a city who's crime was relatively low powerlevel, but smart and/or connected, just got new superpowered criminals!
or
...Gotham's streets are cleaned, but it takes constant vigilance from Superman to keep it that way, and thus Metropolis starts to go down.
Now, as for them on the same team it can work, but when one looks at Batman's solo title and then at JLU it just falls apart in so much as you wonder why he doesn't use the tech to begin with. -
Quote:When one of the other orderly's tell Blue they're not going to hurt the girls anymore, I took it be they all had their way with them.Given the results at the end and the lines of the other orderlies, it is very likely that the head orderly was using the girls in the sanitarium as his own personal harem. Also given the nature of the escapist fantasy, i.e. Babydoll imagining that the workers of the institute as the...customers...of the dance hall, that it wasn't limited to just the head orderly (or whatever that guy was).

Quote:Yes, this was my thought. Just to drop it all together.Well, the thought was not to exchange Thunder Kick for Dragon's Tail, but drop Thunder kick from the line up, shift everything else up and place DT in a spot appropriately. So Storm Kick would be the 1st power, 2nd Crippling Axe Kick and 3rd Cobra Strike. Although those attacks do recharge slower than Thunder Kick, they also do better damage for their endurance costs...and they have better secondary effects for higher mitigation compared to Thunder Kick.

Quote:Actually, I had started to wonder on that as well, on the part of "OMG these critics hate it, so I must too"
Seen it before, seen it in the opposite direction, seen movies were critics couldn't possibly NOT give a movie a bad review because then it would be faced with "You suck!" (simplified) type of retorts. -
Quote:You post sounded more like "Comics book costumes should be more practical"Yes, but comic books don't require actors that have to wear these costumes and perform athletic feats in them for extended periods of time. There has to be some measure of practicality taken into consideration for the safety and comfort of the wearer.

I understand the practicallity of such changes in RL of course.
Though, you say safety, and I have to think, didn't they switch to the flats when anything like running needed to be done? -
Quote:Comic books don't do PRACTICAL!I agree. I think the material change was more for durability than the aesthetics. That shiny stuff tears very easily. Especially if it's the same material used to make the costumes from the Power Rangers movie from long ago. Also digging the red boots. Still nice, and above all else, PRACTICAL.
That said, I like the idea of the flatter boots, purely for the "in high heels...now in flats...now back in high heels" we'd get otherwise. -

Quote:I just can't imagine heroes and villains playing capture the flagI've thought that PvP here in CoH is pretty limited with no point except killing the other person. Deathmatch type PvP is hard for me to get into, I would much prefer a type of capture the flag, or hold A,B,C points to win type games. I'm not a big fan of WoW, but they're PvP is done pretty well.
BTW, thanks for all the advice. I'm thinking about giving a tanker a shot.

Quote:I always thought they were dead because people would rather have access to ALL their powers, and not a handful of powers.Like I said, RV is moderately active at least on Freedom and Virtue.
WB and Siren's are dead not because PvP is dead, but because most people have their IOs slotted at level 50 (for max enhancement bonus %) which don't work on the lower level zones. Ditto on incarnate abilities.
I know that's why I prefere RV over the other zones. -
Can't you have a musical theme power set for any AT already?

For a guy who thought doing the voice work in the original transformers movie was the worst thing he ever did, I wonder why he's doing a voice for the new movie!

Quote:o.OGlossing over the Saxe-Coburg's predilection from appeasement that ran from Edward VIII (which the film conceded) to George VI (who unconstitutionally tried to give his royal seal of approval on Chamberlain's Munich sell-out before a parliamentary debate) could be argued as a dramatic necessity to preserve sympathy for its protagonist, if one wants to condescend to the audience. "Bertie"'s dramatic arc doesn't need to shadow the historical events, and frankly, the film could have used a little tension instead of consistently portraying a stammering aristocrat as, counterintuitively, an underdog. Incidentally, the performances in the King's Speech were almost uniformly superb, with the usually reliable Timothy Spall as Churchill being the only exception.
Oh well, at least the history was better in the King's Speech than in 300.
300 was a comic book that stylized a period/event in history that really isn't all that well documented to the point of 100% historical accuracy.
Could it have been closer to what REALLY happened? Perhaps. Wouldn't have been the same however. -

For plenty of reasons stated. -
Quote:Well, I'd say it's BD's movie in so much as she was the main character and it was all basically from her perspective.I have no problem with well done, straight forward, sad endings. Most of the movies listed have those.
Sucker Punch, in my opinion, doesn't have that. See, I read a lot of promotional material for the movie, and everything I read swore up and down six ways to Sunday that SP is Baby Doll's story. So I was actually annoyed at the big "revelation" more than anything. Don't get me wrong, I'd been wondering -why- the movie was called "Sucker Punch" since I heard the title, but I just feel the twist ending was poorly done. For me, the two girls getting killed suddenly, and Baby Doll getting lobotomized -anyway- overwhelm any happy endingy closure of Sweet Pea being the lone survivor of the whole thing.
The Sucker Punch as it were, comes from the fact, that it was all about getting Sweet Pea free and not BD.
That doesn't stop it from being Baby Doll's story. -
