You know, it just doesn't seem like cheating to me.

More like PvP. Where the right builds usually tear through defense.
  2. How much is the -Regen effect?

So far, imo anyways, 25% -Res, 75% Fire Damage is the way to go, as I just didn't figure the -Regen was going to be enough to make a difference on the enemies I want it for.

Which one? Invincibility. It's pretty much a 'must take' for any invuln character as it provides a good chunk of your Defence and also gives you a nice little to hit boost. Well tonight I ran a lambda trial. And I got creamed repeatedly. Ad I don't mean I died a bit and got annoyed or I died 5 or 6 times. I managed to rack up a full quantity of debt on my level 50 scrapper within 20 minutes. Yes she has tier 4 and yes she has a few sets through her build but she's not softcapped (and I don't see why she should have to be either if the Dev's continue with their 'IO's are optional, we haven't made the game any tougher' mantra) but she was completely useless. Her major points are S+L Resistance which is next to useless thanks to all the fire and energy flying around, she has very little ranged defence which for a melee based character who should be 'in there' shouldn't be a necessity either. Basically she's now completely pointless and incredibly painful to play on the Incarnate trials. I feel like giving up on her and she used to be my favourite character. The trial should be difficult yes, but IMo they've taken it too far. it suits some characters perfectly and practically encourages people to softcap, simple because just about any level of resistance is utterly pointless.

Congratz Pragon, you just relegated one of my favourite to 'No i don't want to play her on this, she'll spend more time face down and in the hospital than fighting' league.
Interresting. I died quite a few times on my IOed out expensive Scrapper.

So did that IOed out Granite tanker I ran with.

What you need are team buffs, and likely getting that Destiny slot unlocked.

Pretty much where I am. Or where I was, back when I thought there was something to do with these powers than run more Trials. I'd intended to do what it took to unlock said powers and... I'm still working on that part. "Raid more" doesn't quite have the right ring to it.
You use the awesome abilities in your normal game play for the giggles!

I can't wait to run level 50 TFs with the added powers. What sucks is my main is DB/WP so I have to redraw everytime I use my Judgement :/
  5. Ran LS once...success! \o/

Ran BAF four times...last one was a success!

So far my impression is this...you can recover from dying multiple times, if the team stays. Sadly, I saw lots of people just basically quit the trial if they got any amount of debt. Basically, it looks like a lot of PuG players are of the mind set "If I get debt I'm leaving."

But that's just the first day impression, which probably isn't far off, seeing as how I remember that's how people were with the ITF when it first came out.

    ***Spoiler Alert***

    (1) The main character is not "recruited" to do the task at hand. He's forced to do it against his will.
    (2) The story itself is not even actually about "Time Travel" at all. It's about alternate dimensions.

Just about the only thing these two movies have in common is they are both sci-fi movies about a guy "traveling" to another reality and a girl he falls in love with there. I'll bet you could probably shoehorn hundreds of movies into that general premise.

And finally yes, Soruce Code was a much better film than Deja Vu.

    *Spoiler alert*

and setup perfectly for a sequal. Though at the same time, I wonder what could possibly happen different, on the Captain's part anyways, other than a new mission.

But at the same time, I want a sequal, and it likely won't get one, as it wasn't #1 with lots of money!
  7. I totally ignored this advice!

Now, I took the Mu mastery purely for concept (though love having the hold/range for LGTF), as I just don't use them often enough, as redraw kills the DPS.

And this is just me posting my current build, so you canhave an idea of how you may want to slot those powers to go for typed defenses over positional, that you seem to be doing.

If I was going for more survival, I'd go Body and grab Physical Perfection.

Confront is taken purely for tanking recluse on the STF and well, the animation is just awesome

Every other shared set either relies on permanent BU-level buffs, favoring the scrapper, or pseudopets, favoring the scrapper. I would argue that even claws' damage buff for brutes isn't incredibly impressive because spin, its most damaging power, suffers a nearly five second recharge penalty in comparison to the scrapper version.

Overall, then, there are some edge case brutes that do passable damage, but the real bonus they get is in being surly chunks of beef that generate tanker style aggro without the drawback of being as fearsome as a soggy baby. Therefore, your choices of damage level are the following: of the three melee ATs, you can opt for The Full Scrappy, The Close-If-You-Squint Brute, or The Saddest Tanker. That fully describes all melee AT options available to you, you're welcome.

Deep in our hearts, we all know brutes are better, just based on the numbers.

I'm a scrapper player myself, but it's not because the archetype is better. I like scrappers.

Even after the 'nerf' to fury, brutes do equal or better damage than a scrapper (fire melee? super strength?) AND ARE TOUGHER. I rolled up a claw/inv brute to make identical builds, brute vs scrapper, just to test out the theory, and quit before fifty. Because it was quite obvious even on SO's.

Brutes do the same or better damage, and are quite a lot tougher, and the gap is going to get quite a lot bigger as the next four Incarnate Slots start unfolding. (Good lord, energy armor is gonna be SICK.)

    HOWEVER.

The Devs have addressed this just about as much as they seem willing. Months ago. The subject seems closed.

If you are the sort who lives and dies by the numbers, roll the brute, every time.

If you like a little style, well, then the scrapper has it all the way.

    Aww, yeah, scrapper strut.....
As someone who has only rolled Brutes when I couldn't make the combo as a Scrapper (my first and now deleted brute, DM/FIRE...my first and only 50 brute, Elec/Elec, so before the port obviously...and now I just have the SS/FA Brute), I can think of a few things to roll a Scrapper over a Brute for.

Last I knew, Scrappers indeed to better at damage when it came to some sets...Kinetic Melee, Dark Melee, Dual Blades, and Claws (at least in the ST department, I believe Brutes win with better AOE damage).

But if you just mean that Brutes come close enough to the damage mark that it really doesn't matter, then yeah, Brutes win!

That said, Scrappers don't have the need for Fury building

Movies that just make you want to vomit? Not so much.

I mean, seriously, a young girl gets imprisoned in a mental hospital, serially *****, and then lobotomized? Sounds like an absolutely scintillating Saturday night out.

I'm sure a lot film makers regard that sort of plotline as edgy and daring, but what they don't seem to understand is that a film like that has to do more, not less, to convince people of its redeeming artistic qualities. We should be past the point where edginess for its own sake is a credible production goal. It's lazy, it's childish, and perhaps most of all, it's patronizing.

It's not that we're too stupid or too prudish or too provincial to understand you, Hollywood. If anything, the problem is that we understand all too well. We see through your supercilious facade. We don't appreciate your sophomoric sermons, your ham-fisted use of exposition, your hilariously brazen hypocrisy. And when film critics -- most of whom are so bored with the everlasting geyser of dreck spewing from your studios that they're inclined to like almost anything that has the slightest tinge of novelty -- almost universally pan a film the subject of which is so obviously abhorrent as Sucker Punch's, well then we're really not gonna show up. In droves.

So by all means, continue to believe that we're all clueless hicks who just want sunshine and unicorns and rainbows erupting from pretty movie stars' shapely posteriors. We'll continue to prefer children's films and mindless action/romance candy -- not because those are the best stories ever told, but because they're at least reliably entertaining and inoffensive. Occasionally, they're even inspiring.

Oddly enough, as production budgets and schedules have expanded beyond the wildest dreams of the old studios, the quality of the product has generally and precipitously declined. Maybe that's because the old studios usually remembered to tell an interesting story, with interesting characters, in addition to fulfilling whatever ersatz-artiste fetish du jour -- whether visual or thematic.

/end general Hollywood rant (and apologies to Serva, whose quote was just a jumping off point)

    Good read, this thread.
Hmmm...while yeah, the **** is implied, I never really took it as "oh yeah, look ****!"

And going in, one would think the lobotomy was going to be stopped untill the end.
  13. Actually, I found the movie enjoyable. And at the end...

    *possible spoliers*

...when it paused, I thought, is it over?! :O

Then when it went to the next scene, I thought, could they be setting it up as sort of "this is his afterlife now...that afterlife is a dream"

Then they revealed it was so much more! I was like. \o/

I wouldn't say it was as actiony as the previews made one think, and I was expecting a bit more action, but that didn't let me down any.
  14. Hmmm...my build in the end is planned to have about 30% M/R Defense and 21% AOE Defense...think that'd be enough? Maybe I just wasn't thinking that'd be enough to equal my /WP in survival.

Having an Ice Armor Tanker, I can agree with this. :/ Not that it isn't awesome, but a bit more Defense Debuff Resistance and some S/L Resist would help Ice Armor a lot imo.

To Samuel...I'd still suggest the early level just so you can slot it asap.

However, if you have no desire to exemp ever, then you COULD switch it out for a higher level one, but Steadfast and Karma -KB are pretty cheap, and last I looked (it's been awhile I admit) BOTZ -KB wasn't exactly cheap.

Power customization does not appear on the physical-appearance pull-down menus when building a new character, with the exception of weapons. Weapons can be costume pieces. And speaking of that, we need new weapons.

The verbal semantics some of you will employ to try to deny what's happening are actually pretty funny.

    Nobody here wears hot pink:
    Bad
You can put Hot Pink Cloak of Fear on everyone of your alts! They just have to be Dark Armor users!

That said, I have to ask, how often have you used these new costume pieces?

Maybe the reason the have made them into booster packs lately, is because a lot of people stick to the basics of what they had available way long ago.

I know while I have everypack made available, I'd say the Emote pack gets more of my attention than the costume pieces.

Cybrog Belt is about the only piece from the Cyborg Pack I use (and often, I love the belt).

MA Pack, I don't recall using many of those options aside from Ninja Run.

    Science, yup, none of them.

Mutant, okay this has some pieces I use.

    Valkyrie = boots.

Magic = A few pieces from this one actually, gloves, witch top (never the boots...have you seen how big they make the feet!), witch bottoms...and I only wish I could change out the Fur Shoulders on the magic jacket, for another shoulder option!

Mutant = Another one that gets some use when I have a concept that can use the pieces.

But really, they're like nice to have, but I can't say I've used most of the items in it. So, if the majority of players are that way, then they'd make money off their time with booster packs.

Whether or not you agree that they should, is of course a different story.

I could get behind this idea, they could be locked by a badge, or accolade, of varying difficulty to obtain.
I'd rather have dance emotes like a few other games first.

Or at least a modded version of the Karate Dance, without the hand strikes and kicks, and just the hip sway, arms up and bended at the elbows part.

The first is a regular paycheck. Yeah, the big names can make 10-30 million or more per film, but then there's the not so big names. And if a show goes on for a while, the paychecks get bigger and bigger. Just look at the stars of 'Friends' by the last few seasons: a million dollars per episode! 22 million for a season. At that time, not one of those actors would have been able to command that much for a leading role in a movie. Even now, for those actors of 'Friends,' I don't think any of them can command that much for a starring role. Well, perhaps Anniston, but I'm not sure.
The second reason for a "Movie Star" to go to television is that they get to play a character for a long time. During that time they get to portray someone with all sorts of quirks and things that happen to them. We see this called "character growth" when we sit down and discuss what has happened this week. We hear all the time from Stars "When I read the script, I just connected with this character" or "I just knew that I HAD to portray this character" and such. Yes, actors get payed to portray different people, but many of them acutally LIKE to do that, and some, when confronted with a script and character that really appeals to them jump at the chance to do television.

So, steady paycheck and the chance to portray a character through many changes and for long periods of time can trump a large paycheck and the limelite of a Movie.
Not to mention how it allows a lot of them to live in one location.
