Wow. You realize this is his first original movie.

Putting aside my own like of Sucker Punch, it's obviously bombed, but this is a first go at it. Could be that his next original works could be a big blockbuster.
  2. Just curious, but is it really a PuG, if he can get 4-6 of his friend on the team, and the rest filler to fill up for the league (whether it be the minimum or the maximum amount of players)?

It wouldn't seem that way to me. Yeah, there are PuG members, but he'd know a good chunk of the team.

I ran an ITF with 5 of my SG and two People broadcasting for an ITF today. I didn't really consider it a PuG.

So yeah, I'd like to keep my res caps where they are on a Brute now that I can finally make use of them.

And Brutes will still not have as many HP, as much regen, as high starting base DEF, as high starting base RES, as high as a Cap as a Tanker nor as strong status protection.

Scrappers out-damage Brutes, Brutes out-survive Scrappers.

This is where it should be.
Heh...wasn't a call for a nerf. OMG! Are you like a strict plays only Brutes player?

Edit: It seems to me that there are a lot of variables that will affect which version works out to more DPS. How high your previous DPS was, and how many attacks/time you use to get there (because that affects how often you will apply the DoT). If you are on the low end of DPS the DoT is almost certainly a win. If you are high DPS and have sufficiently fast-activating powers, it seems to me that the -DR could come out ahead. For mowing standard mobs down, the DoT is almost certainly the better choice. However, I have to say I rarely optimize at this level for anything except hard targets.
I'm going for the tier 4!

-10% Resist might not be much, but that's an additional 10% to add on to my 40% (two -20% procs) or even just 10% -Resist I might not have on another scrapper.

Why should Brutes get nerfed because tankers are not sufficiently more durable to make them worth it? Tankers just got a hefty damage buff, let's address their core functionality as a differentiator as well. 3 percent may not sound like a lot, but it would cut the damage a capped Tanker takes by a whopping 30 percent.

It would also make resist capping a Tanker a MUCH more desirable goal, and would reduce (somewhat) the utter dominance of +Def compared to +res as a damage mitigator. The Devs have been giving the resist sets a lot of love lately, why not take it to the logical conclusion?

(Honestly, as I recall the old 'immortality line' discussions from ages ago, even 95 to 96 percent resistance would not be out of line with the strength of capped defense. But I may be recalling incorrectly.)
In GR Beta, they were actually going to lower the resist cap of Brutes to 85% at one point.
And personally, I don't see it really as a nerf, unless your playing a brute who's constantly being being shielded, as there is no secondary that will allow you to obtain a 85% Resist rating, except for Fire and Electric, andthat's only for their respective name sake resists.

Inwhich, it's really not that big of a deal.

That said, depending ont he damage differences, I'd be for the slight improvement in Brutes defense numbers, so while still less than Tanker numbers, the BRutes would have better defense numbers, but the damage seems to comparable to really go that route.

The thing to remember is that you have ages to get the new Incarnate stuff. I doubt we'll see new slots before Issue 21 and that is probably 4 months out so take your time and have fun. If you aren't having fun then do something else, play a low level character, run one of the new TFs or even play a different game (I bought a bunch of old games on GoG last week end and am playing through those).
    ^^This.

If you're running the content 10 times a day it's really your own fault if your burnt out on it (not that all people would be burnt out on it, some likely enjoy it).

I have yet to run it 10 times in the same day. Guess what? Not burnt out. There is other content, and there's really no reason to be all "must hurry to unlock all tier 4's now!" There's really no reason to be all "Must unlock all Tier 3's now" that said, yesterday, I have 3 tier 3's and 1 tier 2 (Judgement) unlocked, and that's with pretty casual gaming (I only have about 4 hours of game time, 6 days a week, due to working 6 days a week, so I'm saying that's about casual).

More fun isn't an incentive? Ran the first mission of the ITF at +4 last night, and I only lowered it to +1, so a few lower level teammates could hit things, but everyone on the PuG team was having fun.

That seems like a great way for us to have some expanded stomping grounds to try our new abilities, so I was a little surprised we're still encouraged to run at +0, and basically blow the TF away.
Could just raise the difficulty and run the TF, that's what I do.

I20 progression via shards vs threads is a complete and utter joke right now. Someone did the math showing that at a rate of 10 shards a day, it would take something like 2-3 years of steady play to open all 4 T4 slots. I opened 2 T3 slots in 1 day of grinding the two trials. Clearly different rates, indeed.
As it should be imo. First off, for solo play, Incarnate abilities just aren't needed. No really, they're not!

They're nice to have for sure, but what are you going to do with a +2 level shift, that only works while in the trial?

What are you going to do with those abilities solo, outside of complete 0/1 missions faster, then say everything is to easy?

    (note: you = the soloer)

The soloer still gets to obtain them, if it's that big of a problem, joint he queue and run one. I've joined the queue at odd hours and still got in a BAF and LS, so it's not like it's hard waiting.

Personally, I don't really care that we have shards and threads, but that doesn't mean it isn't unnecessarily complicated for the end user.
If I was a new user, I'd likely be asking the same thing...

    "What exactly is so complicated?"

It's not complicated, it's rather easy to figure out. I have a harder time figuring out how to make AE mission creation work, than I do Shards/Threads.

It's not complciated past a basic math and reading level. No seriously. It's not complciated.
  12. I'd love a 5th one!

I had 4 filled trays as it was, now with the chat window, I had to move my tray and add a 5th tray for my Lore Pet Commands. :/

I have a lot of other weapon-based characters (with pistols, swords or bows) that are in the same boat.

If the pyronic animation showed my character doing the "throw a grenade" emote, then the explosion, I think I'd be perfectly happy taking it though.

So, I guess I'm hoping they will add some alternate animations someday.
Does it help that your highly trained human with some gadgets, is still basically superhuman?

I think the dynamic range for the various AT's should be slightly expanded.

For example, let's look at the four melee AT's. Tanks, brutes, scrappers, and stalkers.

They should rank in order of toughness, from highest to lowest, and in terms of damage output, from lowest to highest. In reality, they are waaay too close together, as this entire thread relates.

So, I think that Tankers should have their resistance caps raised by three percent. IE, Tankers can cap at 93 percent. Brutes at 90, scrappers and stalkers at 75 percent.

    Leave Brutes alone.

Raise the Scrapper damage cap by, say, 100 percent.

Raise the Stalkers damage cap 100 percent AND increase their base melee damage scalar to 1.2.

So, widen the range so that tankers can be 'uniquely tough' and stalkers can be 'uniquely deadly.' Brutes are just fine as-is (and are frequently referred to as inducing obsolescence in other AT's). Scrappers can now firmly out-damage Brutes in the same teaming situations where Brutes now firmly out-durable scrappers. All balanced, all clearly distinguished.

Do similar things for the other AT's.

I think we need this sort of a distinguisher, especially as the Incarnate abilities are 'flat'. A Tanker judgement does the exact same damage as a Blaster judgement.

How does that make sense? Give me back my uniqueness!
    Hmmm...I'd more likely go with...

    Tankers leave as is.

    Brutes lower cap to 85%

    Scrappers raise cap to 80%

Stalkers raise damage to Scrapper levels, but through the powers themselves. Not damage modifier, so they can have way better END usage. the 100% Damage to equal Scrappers is also good.

  20. 1) Power Proliferation!

Blasters: Primary Only - Dark Blast
    Controllers: Secondary Only - Traps
Defenders: Fire Blast / Thermal Radiation
    Scrappers: Super Strength / Ninjitsu
Tankers: Primary Only - Energy Aura

Brutes: Primary Only - Martial Arts (Increased Damage/Recharge with new Brute Style Animations which will work with all Martial Art Users)
Corruptors: Psychic Blast / Force Field
Dominators: Primary Only - Illusion Control
Masterminds: I'd announce they're geting nothing! Just to give people something else to complain about, especially the MM only players. Then reveal Sonic Resonance in a last minute addition to testing.
Stalkers: Ice Melee / Ice Armor

    2) TWO NEW EPIC ATS!

    Dual Pistols/Defense
    Blade & Gun/Defense

    3) Weapon Customization!

CoH GOES BIG! Buster swords! Guns that would make Liefield proud!

    4) New costume pieces!

Pouches to go along with those guns They'd have 2 styles with a One Leg or Both Legs option, each style would be added on to most if not all Tights and With Skin Options.

Cybernetic Arm option for Shirts/Jackets/Robes/Magic Pack Jackets.

Syndicate Design given to female models as per the male models.

    5) Vet costume rewards given to everyone! Replaced with [Click to Claim Random Suprise] which will have a 50/50 chance of rewarding either 10 Merits or 10 Shards (basically items that can't be traded).

    6) Two new Incarnate Contacts (but can run with any team...sooo there will be many many mobs, and hard to take out, but hey anyone can tag along)...one blue side and one red side, which open up two story arcs, that deal with both sides trying to change the past, and in the end, each side only half succeeds which leads to...Issue 22: The Retcon! (which will fix some story holes, change up content a bit, get rid of some of those mess of a story arcs...*cough*Origin of Power*cough*

    7) Tell everyone we're also looking into changes in PvP and really hype it up, then reveal we just increased eluscity and gave Mez Protection back to those with Mez Protection, and tell everyone after the fact "We're just getting started" then likely have them ignore it for 5-8 issues! \o/

[EDIT! I forgot!] 8) Increase the damage in all Stalker Attacks, but not the end cost. Get them equal to Scrappers in damage, but make them more end efficient.
  21. Port Ninjitsu to Scrappers!

Turn hide into a stealth obtainable at level 20, move up Ninja Reflexes to the tier 1, and put in "Resist Physical Damage" or "Resilence" in the tier 2 spot!

That is all! A nice small (hopefully quick) Issue to keep those Power Proliferating wanting people and RPers happy! \o/

    It's win/win!
  22. Then don't raid. Convert shards into the needed threads.

Either you missed what the OP meant, or you're guessing.

It's not about you sometimes wanting to help people and sometimes not, it's about people making the choice of not really wanting to help people, but picking the title purely to have the yellow title.
  24. Here's the problem I see with your post and many like it.

Now while you may not have been the type to post such a thing, what has been a complaint of the system...no influence sink!

    Well here it is!

Will it have much an effect? Not likely.

Next, those want to obtain things while solo, while still maintaining the team option as the best choice. This does that!

Don't want to team to get those threads, well then go solo and start converting shards. Is it neary as fast? Nope. But the solo option is there for you to use!

Seeing as how soloers really don't need the abilities outside of "Oooo...look at me...I have a cool power." (which of course they ARE!) it really doesn't matter much if it takes longer to obtain the powers.

As to the confusion...what confusion? It's really not that complicated past a 3rd grade education. No really. It's not.

As for having the shards when you're now ready to go after the threads, when you get enough shards, just convert them!
