Some forum folks assume everyone else reads every patch note. This is what I was driving at - you shouldn't assume specific knowledge like this, despite how "common" you think it should be. (Also, I found the Fury changes to be an overall buff for all of my brutes.)
I agree. While I still prefere Scrappers, the change to Brutes was an improvement imo.

I'm really happy with the change to the Tier 9. I'd rather have that than the one Tanks (and possibly Brutes) get. Argh! I can't wait to play a Spines/Ice Scrapper!

Hmmmm... is he calling me a grenade? Where is everybody running to? Nobody has said anything about what we need to do.

Ever seen that WoW magic marker video with the guy screaming "MORE DOTS!" Thats what a trial feels like. I'm not going to link to it directly because it contains very nsfw language. But if you want to find it just search onyxia wipe on youtube and it will be the first result. Now not all trials involve somebody as psycho as that but they pretty much do involve people who spout out acronyms and abbreviations and expect everybody to know what they are supposed to do and expect the whole thing to be done in the minimum possible time.

Don't like end game in any game because it always involves a large percentage of people who are not interested in playing the game, only in "beating" the game by becoming the most powerful or fastest or what have you.
Just curious, but did you ask them in team or league what exactly they meant by Team A Grenades, Team B Acids?

I've had to ask on Keyes a few times, what exactly is going on. They told me and I'd go "Oh!" and then move on.

With the Lamda they're basically short handing, because they figure everyone knows it by now.

When reading the book, I exected a different end for Bella (at the hands of Nevel). When I read that moment in the book, I envisioned something a lot, well, MORE. Instead, it was pretty minor.

I was also sad that Kreacher's redemption was left out of the movies. No leagion of house elves coming to help defend Hogwarts. No Grawp showing great heroics. No Centaurs coming to help Hogwarts.
Yeah I can agree with that. With the book I envisioned a bigger battle between the mother and Bella.

Also was wondering why they couldnt at least show Kreacher's turn to liking Potter. I always envision him living with the Potters 19 years later.

Heres a few powers i would sub in for almost anything here....

Siphon life- a blap, but a blap with a purpose besides damage. a blaster with a self heal outside of the medicine pool would be nice. I am looking forward to life drain because of this. In the case of this "beta" I would drop it in instead of midnight grasp.

Howling twilight.... possibly modified for self only. how awsome would it be to have a self rez besides rise of the pheonix? Would free up choices for the pooles in the end game.

    Soul transfer....same as above

opressive gloom, cloak of fear.... I actually thought these had a good chance, like world of confusion but fear or stun instead of confuse.

And of course cloak of darkness. i thought this had a good chance too.

Oh well. At least the "beta" of dark blast looks fun. Dark/energy it is! Man I wish they had put one of the rez powers in. Blasters would get so much use out of them.
You can't replace Midnight Grasp with Siphon Life! Midnight Grasp is more tentacles!

They probably don't want to give Blasters access to two self rezs.

Though I still think something needs to be taken out for Cloak of Darkness! Or a Stealth Power of some sort! Dark/Dark combos should have access to a stealth power!

I loved the glasses! Glad I decided to go to the 7.1 viewing just to get them. Had no idea what they were going to be...I figured normal glasses with Harry Potter written on them...and was glad I went to both showings for them.

I dont require them really getting into Fred's death (or was it George...I forgot) in the books to much, other than his family mourning him and they saying who did it.
  10. All those comments on the new Harley costume...but it just dawned on me.

Who can blame them? That Harley costume looks like half the costumes you see in use in CoH.

Funny thing is, I've yet to see a toon that actually looked 8. I wouldn't guess 8 and wouldn't even think 8, if it wasn't for bios saying as such.

Yeah, but the text still has you thinking to stop it, just in a different way. And Cole still sends you off to get youout of the way.

It is literally the case that no explanation at all would have been better than the one we were given.

As previously noted, this is just sticking your fingers in your ears and humming real loud, or as I've said in the past, treating all text in the game as "click here to fight mobs".
Their writing is based on there not being 5000 thousand players either.

Things like the TFs are perfect examples of this. One team of 8 would of fought Hero One once...not 100 different teams all at once.

So in their writing, in the paragon universe, the writing can say "this is how it is" obviously people don't care for it. But then those same people create other concepts that really don't fit in with the established storyline to begin with.

Let's take some storylines that work...the praetorian storylines...they all lead the player into realizing that, yes in fact, Cole needs to be stopped. Yet there are still people saying, no my character would work with Tyrant, even though it's obvious Tyrant really wouldn't work with them for one reason or another, and Tyrant REALLY doesn't consider any of the player characters equals.

Did I agree with how the incarnates were handled? Naaa. I would of prefered the "increase in power through whatever means works for the character" as just a OH YAY NEW POWER type of deal, than tying it to the storyline of "hero goes and actively searches it out"...

Was it a bad idea to do it that way? Probably. Did I ignore it? Yes. I recall it being more that way untill people complained about there being no storyline for it. I can be remembering it wrong, but I recall in beta everyone saying "I want a storyline made by the devs for these abilities, and not have to figure out my own for my own character"

You mgiht say the other ways of gaining the abilities are just putting your fingers in your ears and ignoring the storyline, I think it's more of a way to cater to those who would rather have another explanation for gaining these abilities outside of "I'm actively seeking to become more powerful/an incarnate"

    So what?

Though looking at some of those links, while things happened before Statesman and Recluses adventure...the patheon for instance seemed to be more of a cult that might of had at most little magic ability back int he 1860's, if none at all, but knew of things that had a significance to magic.
  16. Okay, I have a new purely concept choosen powers (but I'll use IOs to the best of their abilities for the character) that I just don't see her using a bunch of fire swords.

As of now her ST chain looks to be...Incinerate - Scorch - Cremate - Scorch - Repeat.

Roughly 170 DPS with just that chain, enough for me to live with at any rate.

The concept was basically me wanting to make a Supergirl/Power Girl/Superman style hero...you know...bullets bouncing off of her type...but I prefere Scrappers over Brutes and Tankers, and the only thing that I really wish I could have in my concept is Hurl (lousy attack it may be, but I love it )

So, instead of MA/INV...I got to thinking what other combos could I use, then I thought of Firestar and my FM/ELA was made. Good Resists, a self heal clickie power to use and basically what's been a fun scrapper so far was made!

But I'm tryong to figure out if I should put Fire Blast into the chain. MiDS is really wrong on the damage for the Fire Epic it seems, so is Fire Blast equal, better or worse DPS than Scorch?

Next, there is little I can do to increase the resists (though I'd love to get the S/L up even more, to the point I'm seriously considering working towards getting the +3% Resist IO), so my question is...

How much defense do I need to build for to make the self heal and resists be enough to stand up to AVs without inspiration use?

Also don't want to take any Incarnate slots into account except for the Alpha (I was thinking Cardiac for the increased Resists) and Interface (basically the passive incarnate abilities).

That's just a list, there is no published order yet. Based on most of the other blaster primaries, it will probably look something like this:
    -Dark Blast
    -Gloom
    -Tenebrous Tentacles
    -Aim
    -Moonbeam
    -Abyssal Gaze
    -Umbral Torrent
    -Life Drain
    -Blackstar
If they improve Life Drain to be akin to Dark Melee's Siphon Life, a more useful attack that also gives a heal, I think I may just have a new blaster.

That said, I want to see more tentacles and useful ones at that! A wider cone on TT for sure.

Not sure if UT has tentacles, but I hope so! And AG I hope has people held in tentacles!

Basically I want to see the shadowy tentacles flying everywhere!

True. But even then it was still rather hush-hush, stories thought to be myth, or just little dark secrets people kept hidden.

Well the OP asked not to have it named as such, and was just curious if there was a thing going on, so I was trying to give the post that didn't tell the OP the exact thing going on.

As for the what the devs think, I'm not a dev, so I have no idea their thoughts on it. I do know some players think it's an exploit and others don't...unlike the monkey farm which was an exploit, I don't consider the new farm map an exploit, but it really does make some people just farm farm farm to 50 instead of doing other content.

Well to be fair, I expect it's suppossed to be a given. Saying it's not and needs to be made clearer is being nit picky, as anyone should be smart enough to know, the devs aren't going to surprise you with "HAHA! Your character is now an NPC sucker!"

I mean really, come on. It should just be a given that the character knows this is true OR has done the leg work to know it to be true.

That said, I know my main wouldn't go about this path to incarnate status (not saying she couldn't gain the powers...but she wouldn't seek it out as the storyline suggests).

Luckily, the seeking it out is actually a non point now imo, as you can gain the incarnate abilities without actually seeking it out now, with the ability to open the alpha slot through a voucher or through just joining the iTrials.
  22. Well for the PvP aspect, I think if people only have fun when they win, they should expect not to have fun then.

Win or Lose, I have fun in PvP Zones. If you only have fun in PvP if you win, then don't PvP.

Of course there's the retort, "I don't mind losing, I just want to win most of the time" to which it's usually, still the same advice "then dont pvp"

Also, if you can't handle idiots talking smack, best to not PvP either. Best bet if you can handle the losing and still have fun, just ignore the comments.

As for the ITFs type deal of teams splitting up...my suggestion is always make sure before the TF starts, what the plan is. If the plan was to rush it/stealth it from the start, and you want to kill all, don't join it.

And lastly...on an unrelated note to no one in particular...if you're going to duel, take it the arena Dueling in open zone is going to get you killed and whining about it is lame

I haven't seen this many people on Virtue crying for AE groups and PLing since the Incarnate system first was announced and the monkey sploit was active so people were shooting to 50 in a hurry to take part in that. (Haha, I say unto them! You got to 50 to just grind THAT instead of AE! Haha!)
Well there is and there isn't. I'm not convinced it's an exploit myself, rather more of a finding the right type of enemy to fight against for maximum carnage/reward.

But when 95% of people know of it (making up a number there ) and making the right character for it is easy enough...it's getting used...A LOT!

At least, I wouldn't call it an exploit as compared to the past exploits. It be more akin to a Dark Melee/Electric Armor Type going out and hunting Rikti...Rikti are weak to Negative Energy and use damage types Electric Armor have good resistances to.
  24. While I'd love to have the background detailed more. For instance, the Tsoo being Korean based (at least mostly) would be nice to get that info out there, instead of people thinking it's the Chinese Mafia.

Never had a problem with orgin of power arc. Mutants didn't come about untill 1963 (or whenever) doesn't bother me, but yeah, people want to play those 1000 year old mutants.

Of course, hasn't it always been known that powers/magic has been dead for quite awhile/non exisistent untill Statesman and Recluse came about? Not that it never existed, just that it was dormat for a very very long time.

So seeing people say "Oh, I'm a dragon and have been around active for 1000 years" has always made me go... o.O

Or other such D&D style creatures that have been walking about and living in the world.

Now there is some content I'd rather they leave as a OOC style thing. Enhancements? Inspirations? Power Proliferation? Badges? Please...just keep those OOC.

A little better heads up on the Kheldian history would be nice too. I don't mind people using the AT for other concepts (would be nice to see a few more use them as a Kheldian themself though) like Light Based Mutant using a PB or a Dark Power Mutant using a WS (as maybe they just like those powers better, but knowing that a Kheldian is the merging of two personalities into one new one, and not I have multiple personalities or I'm still the person and can communicate with this alien inside of me type of deal (whether people choose to go with it is one thing, but a lot of people just don't know about that part of Kheldians).

As for the aging of the signature heroes, I'm not so sure that's a matter. I never got the impression Manticore (using a reference from an earlier post, I believe by Johny Butane) was THAT old, deffinently wouldn't be in his 50's, as it's only been 7 years.

But he also fails to see that their old avatars take place at the earlier time in the storylines history, so making them older wouldn't work for those arcs either.

Also, some of the signature heroes/villains age slower. BABs and Manti likely age at a normal pace, but Ms Liberty, Statesman and Recluse (for sure), and the other superpowered types could age at a much slower pace, that they wouldn't seem to have aged at all in 7 years.
