Actually, I've been putting thought into this for quite a while on how to make such a character.
Epic AT with a multipath PRimary and a Defensive Secondary.
I'd have The Primary be all the weapons sets. You'd obviously be limited in things like one weapon nuke (so no grabbing Hail of Bullets, Full Auto, and Rain of Arrows) and one build up style power.
Maybe include hand to hand sets in it as well, but I'd probably stick with just weapon sets.
Keep the AT forever evolving...when a new weapon set is introed, it becomes a new path in the Primary (like Beam Rifle).
It'd like be redraw hell, and more suited to picking one melee set and one ranged set, but having the ability to draw a sword, slice away, then switch it up with a giant hammer, then pull out two pistols and fire away would be PERFECT! -
Quote:Why would you go Scorpion Shield from Mace with Time?I agree with Shubbie's answer! Lol. It's funny that with all these new things they release, Malta still prove to be the biggest pain in the *** in this game. Hell, AV's and GM's are easier than a group of Malta.
However, if you're able to hit the soft cap with Time, then I may look in to that further. I imagine, with Scorpion Shield from Mace, + Farsight, CJ and Weave- I should be pretty well off. Still working on some testing.
Softcap the positions, and grab a Resist shield for way more survivability. -
If you're saying the Power Build Up -> FarSight combo, when then yeah, but then you're limited on your Epic.
Outside of using that combo, Time and Traps are the same at softcapping defenses.
Time will likely be safer having a -tohit toggle, while Traps has WAY WAY more offense with way higher -regen. -
Quote:Some AVs are just tougher then others!i tried my first recently (recluse at end of patron missions) and forget it. I could stand up to it, even with the stupid summons with my kat/wp scrapper, but i couldn't do enough damage to break through and just felt really irritated.
Silver Mantis, I've found to be one of the tougher S/L Resistance AVs. -

We need to put up more "Look someone got robbed" threads, so we can hear everyone say "I hope they die" posts! \o/
I mean really, people get robbed every day. -
I find DB/WP to be one of those easy cut answers to...which do you prefere better DPS or better Survival.
The Brute will be more survivalable. The Scrapper will dish out more damage. All build aspects being the same, that's the real difference! -
I miss the original Vodoo. Right now this doesn't seem like the Vodoo I remember.

Sounds like it's about time people stopped being worried about being PC and started being REAL!
REAL WORLD: City of Heroes!
Personally I say lets not forget to put blame on those who can't get over it, and just ignore it, and thusly get everything banned on a site open across the world. -
I want to hear Christopher Lambert say "I don't think so." ONE MORE TIME!

o.O I'd put money on Dolph in a real fight. You realize Dolph not only out muscles Jet Li, but is also a black belt himself, right?

Quote:And Hibernate also makes an excellet costume change emote! To be fair, Ice Armor does have some really nice features. For example, Energy Absorption is a great power. The slow resistance is second to none. For all my gripes, I really like Hibernate. It's unique and has a lot off potential applications. It can be used to recover health or end. Hibernate can be used to let debuffs (such as def debuffs) fall off. It can also be used to soak heavy damage while invulnerable (and in conjunction with Taunt, keep tanking as well).
The combination of long nophase timer (done mainly for PvP reasons, iirc) in conjunction with no inherent res sours it for me. -
Quote:Just wanted to chime in and say, Stalkers can "get in there and mix it up"Okay... I reckon I'll chime in.
I am not an uber player. I can play most anything decently, but for the most part, I am a melee player. For me, that means Tanker, Scrapper, Brute, Stalker, Widow, Bane. I am also a "get in there and mix it up" player, so we now may remove Stalker from the above list. I have taken every single one of the remaining ATs to 50.
I have on all my stalkers (even if only one is 50). They are not hit and run specialists (well they can be if you choose to make them so, but that's just booooring
)

Quote:I'd actually be fine with it as an Epic Pool power choice. For one thing, it's adding range, and I'd rather have somewhat decent damage numbers for these abilities, and putting them as a Power Pool option, I'd more likely take one power for the concept of pulling out the pistols, than taking multiple options and actually using them.Y'know, much as I'd support the idea of a this as an ancillary power pool, I'd really rather see it as a general power pool. Because the pistol attacks seem, to me, to be a more central part of the character. I'd hate to have to wait 'til late into a character, even if it were as "early" as 35, to have to get this character defining sort of ability.
For my money, and I mean that I would pay for this, I'd rather have it an option in the same point as the Fighting or Travel pool powers. And no, snagging a recipe for a snubnose pistol is not enough. -
Quote:So you don't fear any baddies, right? Because they all follow the same logic...aggro caps...ect...ect.Yeah, so the argument goes, and it's still just as much nonsense now as before. Heroes don't seem to have a lick of problem invading Grandville all the time by themselves and not facing anything from Arachnos and it's not like they're the only people with a mediport system. Nor, for that matter, would fighting about a million Arachnos be all that much of a challenge with the aggro cap where it is. The game teaches me that I can come in and rip their bases apart any time I so please, yet all of a sudden I'm supposed to be afraid of them?
This is the ultimate in god-modding GM ******** - but thou must, and constitutes the single biggest fail of the entirety of City of Villains' story as planned out ahead of time - we're small-time weak-willed thugs who want to suck up to Arachnos while they are the big fish who really matter. Tying vendors and reclimators to Arachnos was a mistake. Tying US to Arachnos was an even bigger mistake.
For all the bad things I've said about Going Rogue, at least it has the right idea when it comes to self-serving agendas. "Sinclair will use you!" says Beladonna. "Sinclair can't use you. No-one can use you! You'll show the Resistance what you're made of, and if Sinclair tries to mess with you, you'll take him down, too. NO-ONE controls you!" That's what a good super villain is. That's what a good super villain does. He doesn't shrink from one bald old man. He punches him in the mouth, takes on the full might of Arachnos and shows Recluse that he's not to be messed with.
It's been six years now, and I'm not any more interested in accepting that Arachnos apologist rhetoric. The game shouldn't be trying to explain why my character is a chickenshit coward. The game SHOULDN'T put my character in a position to be a coward in the first place, and that it does is a fail for City of Villains. The whole narrative treats us like lowlife scum, with every other contact calling us stupid brutes and acting smug and superior. I sincerely hope that Freedom includes as much contact-killing as people are saying, because that's precisely what villains do with contacts who talk back.
And Arachnos, they're one of the tougher enemies in the game.
So, why fear Praetorians? -
Quote:Now, I don't mind ST heavy sets. That's just me. But listening to the forums, all you hear is "ST centered sets suck" so why would you want to create another one that's ST centers?Although that would mostly be for balance; most melee sets seem to have a cone at the very least in them.
Otherwise, fully agree with the ST-heavy suggestion
Even more so if it's one AOE is a cone!
Look how much people say "Martial Arts? Meh!" and it has a PBAOE. -
I was quite happy with Expendables!
Can't wait for #2!!! -
Quote:Hey now! I just wanted their hoods and we seem to be getting some awesome hoods out of it! Though we should also get the Succubus costume items. That's because Recluse's 'Destined' scheme actually treats you like a lackey working for bit-part schmucks that I could EASILY grind under my iron-clad boots and then slap the rest silly with the remains of the curb-stomped.
Whereas Cole is the real deal; you CAN do it for the glory, and GET the glory. Heck, you can even join Scott and do it 'for the evulz' but you eventually have to turn your back on that as well...for some reason.
It's like the recent CoT costumes, actually. 'We're giving you the stuff you asked for!' holds bugger all weight when its NOT the same stuff you asked for. People asked not to have to work for the 'lackey's-ville' villains, NOT the Villain that actually gave you what you asked for. Much like people asked for Circle of Thorns costumes, not lame WoW-ripoff clones that looking nothing like the parts they asked for...
But then again, none of this post will matter, because you'll give it the same consideration you give ANY post that doesn't fit in your ideal world view that's as patronising and 'as you like it' than any dictatorial view out there... -
Quote:Not to mention, Fiery Embrace benefits from Brute Fury, as does Blazing Aura, more HP for bigger Heal from the heal. You should include some stipulations about sets with pseudopets or built-in damage buffs providing more benefit to Scrappers than Brutes, such as Elec Melee (Lightning Rod), Kin Melee (Power Siphon), Dark Melee (Soul Drain), Dual Blades (Blinding Feint), and Shield (Against All Odds and Shield Charge).
Damage buff powers are largely desaturated on Brutes because so much of their total damage comes from Fury, their base values are fairly low.
Pseudopets are strictly better on Scrappers because they have damage caps of 400%. I believe this even applies to Burn, but Fiery Aura being resist based doesn't do Scrappers any favors with that set.
At the very least you should include an "if you want to play Shield Defense, go Scrapper" line, because that one stacks both mechanics against the Brute.
But yeah, from a purely numbers point of view, depends on the choosen set combos. -
I read past the first page!

F2P doesnt equal F2P Everything.
That said, alot of that can be obtained by spending a few bucks on the market and a lot F2P games seem to have a market.
Getting into a SG happens rather easily on the F2P system. That's like what the tier 2 or tier 3 reward?
Mission Architect isn't a big worry. No really, it's not!
No salvage, no recipes? Good thing the game is balanced on SOs then.
No trading? Can SO enhancements be gifted? If so, not to much of a worry there imo.
25million Influence Cap? Considering you're limited to SOs, I don't see this as a big deal, and when access to recipes happen, you'll have a higher influence cap by then. -
Quote:I like how people underestimate a villain who's powerful enough to not only hold onto his own army (Arachnos) , his own nation (The Rogue Isles), but is still so powerful, that no matter the few times he's been defeated, he's still around in control of all that.In CoV, you kowtow to a 3rd world despot who can't keep his mancrush under control. In Praetoria, you honorably serve a man trying desperately to keep humanity from wiping itself out.
Your post sounds more like, I like this villain better than this villain, than anything really objective. Your mancrush forum meme of course just affirms it, not to mention it's not Cole trying to keep humanity from wiping itself out, it's Cole trying to keep Hamidon from wiping out humanity by subjigating them, basically mindwashing them, and more than willing to keep humanity alive, by sacrificing a majority of it. -
Quote:Then finding out the way to become an incarnate is to betray Cole should work nicely.Still... my full loyalist Power Division power-mad ego-centric villain who for now kills for Cole ... That toon will only do anything against Cole if there is a final gain in power to be had. Changing the story earlier on to make that toon anti-Cole is not working and destroying the alignment part of 1-20.

Quote:They must be based on them, but they give rules on how to do it without breaking the rules! Intriguing! These guys just go to the Justice League Roster to come up with an idea for their toons.
http://www.freewebs.com/justicecorpsofparagon/
The Hall of Virtue, their members MUST be based on DC/Justice League characters, their site even tells their members how to go about not getting caught or nerfed for their flagrant copywrite infringements. I don't know, I've reported them to the devs twice over the last several months but to no avail, so I sent them an email letting them know that if they did not do something to address an entire SG ripping off the rules, then I was going to take it to my fellow players on the CoH forums and let them decide if they will stand for this.
for more, be sure to check their website at:

Sounds no different than those shielder users with a red/white/blue color scheme, super soldiers, who still manage not to look exactly like Captain America and manage to have a name that screams Captain America without being a variant like Capt. 4m3r1c4.
So, is the problem that they consider their character the alternate dimension versions of said character?
Looking at their rules they seem to be following the rules set forth by CoH, and in fact, have a leader in place to make sure said rules are followed on the costume as well.
