Very true. Unless they planned on having the same event at a later date that awarded the same exact badge.....but then that causes all sorts of other problems to deal with. The only badges that rival this in its ridiculousness are the loyalty ones. (oops, account went inactive for a whole day? too bad, so sad!)

Quote:I agree with this as well. Giving people the ability to strip the Incarnation off of their characters would be the same exact thing as being able to strip down lvl 40-50, and transfer that to another character.Umm, gonna have to say no to this.
Enhancements are transferable for the same reason a gun is transferable. It is not part of your character, and anyone can use a gun.
I look at the incarnate stuff kind of like training for something. If my friend learns martial arts and I sit around playing video games, I don't get to suddenly become a black belt when he decides he doesn't want to be a martial artist anymore. If I want to be a black belt, I need to earn it myself. Incarnate abilities are the same way, if this character didn't do it, then this character doesn't get the benefit from someone else doing it either.
I solved that problem by not trying to Incarnate characters I'm not particularly attached to. I don't want to go to all that effort for a character I consider expendable. I have, currently, 2 characters that have made any appreciable progress on Incarnate abilities, and I'm trying to decide who's next. -
Quote:I think the problem here has to do with "out with the old, in with the new." While there are still devs who have been here since the beginning, there are so many more that haven't. Certain things that an old dev would have known to focus on gets forgotten among the many problems/issues that they have to deal with. Which is one of the reasons the forums are here....the community has the ability to remind them of what's important to us.I don't mind the Devs trying to come up with some kind of incentive to get people to log on during a specific period of time to do some server stress testing. But making that "incentive" be a badge is a horrible idea for what should be incredibly obvious reasons.
It's amazing how the Devs seem to forget the history of their own game sometimes. Way back during the very first Halloween Event (in 2004) they made the arguable mistake of only running the event for about one week. This meant you only had one week to get the event badges. After enough people "pointed out" that allowing only one week for that event was not really reasonable the Devs have, to my knowledge, never had a Halloween Event that lasted that short a time since. So instead of remembering lessons like these they decide to fall back to a badge earning window of only 3 hours? It really boggles the mind.
I'm encouraged that they are already reconsidering the timing of this badge. But seriously a badge should NEVER have been considered to this kind of scenario in the first place.
When they stop reading, then the quality will drop, and we'll all leave. -
I really hope they do reconsider the time frame for this badge. There is no way that I can set aside a 3-hour window specifically for a badge like that. Life is too busy.
-
Personally, I think that they should have made it so that you can get either acids or paci's, and use neither, and that would award 1 badge. The two different ones for doing [almost] the exact same thing is pretty ridiculous.
Edit: I'm also a bit disgruntled that I didn't get the badges before they "fixed" them. -
On a different but similar note, does anyone else have the problem where you go through a door, then have to wait anywhere from 10 seconds to a full minute before the rest of the zone loads? This often happens to me, and I'm left with a black screen for what seems like forever. I can jump around and move, and when the black goes away, my character has moved.

Quote:Congrats. For your Mo badges, it might be best to be the one to form them, that's what I did most of the time. Most of those runs go for 1 or 2 melee dmg'ers (scrap/brute), so while there's a small window, there's still room.Hello Badge Hounds,
so Silver Albatross hits 1200 thanks to the the loyalty badge
Been a journey, exasperating at times (yes you Mu Guardians in RV!) but mostly huge fun.
Am four away from the WST 50 run support badge(yay Treespec, here I come) and all that leaves, to my shame, are 5 "Masters of". I try and try but a lot of leaders don't want a scrappie along (got kicked from a MoSTF after asking and being invited by Star, who then realised that I was a shock horror Scrapper. Felt a lot unwanted that day)
None of this would have been possible without the unswerving support of all the guys in our Badge Hunting community. LOL I asked some dumb questions over the years.
Thank you all for your patience and wise heads and obvious sense of humour.
Do it over if I had the chance? Probably.
Cheers
At 1208 thanks to a BAF that got me Keep em Separated along with MoBAF, got MoLabmda (dang grenade badges), 3 treespecs, new vill sf, and WST 50 badge (which I'm nowhere near, at like 12?). Just brought Topher back to Vig, so I'll be heading redside soon to get those badges. -
Quote:Sometimes, the best way to deal with people like that is wait for them to complain in said golabl channels about not being awarded the badge, then tell them what they did wrong. It may suck for them, having spent the time and effort, but at that point people tend to actually listen. In a couple of the global channels I hang out in, a few misinformed individuals have convinced a lot of people that you can use the shipments to get the temps for the badge you're not attempting, or even grab temps from both sides of the facility and use only one to get the opposite badge. Since one of the channels in question is a Badging channel, I've attempted to correct people who spread this, but it's an uphill battle.

Quote:I like this idea. That way you can be alerted to something potentially important, and can ignore all the side chatter.Very true. Teams you hardly ever get lots of chatter. Leagues you get up to 3x as many people, and normally around 10x as many people that think they are in charge. Now if you could make it so it only played the sound when the league or one of the other team leaders said something, then that whould be perfect IMHO.

Quote:He said two separate times....I think he meant in addition to getting the "grab all grenades" badge.THREE times. Why do people keep saying two?
As stated before: Once where you get all the acids and no grenades, and use nothing. Once where you get all the grenades and no acids, and use nothing. Once where you get all the temps, and use nothing. If you get any temp powers from the deliveries during the final fight, the badge attempt fails. That means that you cannot use ANY grenades or acids for three runs if you want the Master badge.
See here if you don't believe me. -
I don't know, they might see the current (if it hasn't been fixed) bug as an exploit, which they have said in the past that they do not provide patch notes for. So until I hear confirmation one way or the other, I'm worried they may have "fixed" it without telling us.
-
I really hope not, seeing as how I don't have them yet. I've tried and failed 3 times, and I don't want to have to run it 3 times successfully.

Quote:I forget how I did it, but I got the Pentad badge without running an actual Pentad. As to the Cathedral Trial, in a couple months, the whole Incarnate Trial fervor will cool down and normal hami/rwz/cop raids will continue. And the Mo badges must be just getting easier with all the new Incarnate stuff coming out.Up to 1208 now after getting a MoBAF in yesterday. I think I'm down to about 15 possible badges remaining, some of which I doubt I'll ever see... like the one for winning a Pentad arena match or a Cathedral Trial... and a handful of other Mo task/strike force badges.
-
Well, if the badges are supposed to be awarded for not using any grenades at any time, I think the best thing would be to hurry up and go for the badge that awards all three before they fix it. Personally, I don't feel like spending all that time and effort going for the same badge three times (which is basically what they are).
-
Well, maybe today's patch will fix the badge problem. Then again, it might just fix an animation glitch that's barely noticeable.....

Quote:That's good to hear. I'll try and keep an ear to the ground on that.I would stay far away from eBay for SDCC badges. The registrations are tied to your name (or names you designate) at the time of purchase from the official SDCC website, and you don't pick up your actual badge until the day of the convention. Therefore none of the "badges" being resold on eBay will work. I think this was new as of last year.
That being said, all hope is not lost. Any refunded registrations will get resold on the official website about a month or so before the con. Since registrations can't be resold offline or even given to someone else based on the name attachment, there will be more available. That's how I got my 4 day pass last year. Just keep checking the official SDCC site for the resale date, and make sure you are on the site ready to purchase the minute they go on sale.
Hope this helps! -
Is it even possible to still get badges for this? My father had tried, and said that they were gone just as fast as he saw them come available.
Edit: After doing a little more digging online, it looks like they all sold out the day they went up for sale. Yikes! I guess I'm not going for my b-day this year :-( -
Woot! Finally joined this club last night on a Lambda run, by getting the Synchronized badge.

Quote:That's pretty much what I originally thought. It seems to me that the GMs don't really know what's going on when it comes to these badges, and that the badges in-game are still bugged, since many are still reporting that they haven't gotten the badges yet.i think they have the badge info for well stocked and antacid wrong
if you get all 10 acids and 0 pacifications and use 0 pacifications, then why not just go for lambda looter and get all 3 badges at once to make it simpler? and whats the point of the antacid badge if you cant use pacifications either?
honestly its seriously easier to just get all 3 in one go right now, since you have to get a badge for 10 of both and not using either
according to the badge info, it says you just have to get all 10 acids and not use any acids but does not mention pacifications at all, and therefore you should get antacid even if you used all the pacifications. this same theory goes for well stocked. -

Quote:Is this info wrong, or did they set the badge info and requirements wrong?? I've also heard that the two individual badges aren't awarding on their own at all, and that you need to do the combined one in order to get them all. Is this true? The GM answering my complaint about not getting Antacid is saying that you have to get them all separately, that they won't award together!Of special note is a segment of the Lambda Sector trial associated with acquiring two kinds of temporary special powers: Molecular Acids and Pacification Grenades. These powers can be used on enemies within the trial, but badges can be earned if player characters pick up the Acids and Grenades without using them, in the following ways:
* Get 10 Molecular Acids and no Pacification Grenades, but don't use them, and get Antacid.
* Get no Molecular Acids and 10 Pacification Grenades, but don't use them, and get Lambda Looter.
* Get 10 Molecular Acids and 10 Pacification Grenades, but don't use them, and get Well-Stocked.
Of these, only the Antacid badge is needed for the Master of Lambda Sector badge. -
One thing to remember, and this is very important for badge-hunters....you only have ONE chance to get the Efficiency Expert badge from Mr. Pither. If you fail, you cannot get it any other way. You need to complete timed mishes in order to get the badge, so if you might be interrupted for any reason, try this badge later.
-
I hope that is the case....I'd love to come home for once and not have to sit around and wait for a new issue to update.
-
With the new NCSoft launcher, if I leave it running at home while I'm gone, will it update itself, or will I still have to set it to update when I get home? I do have the little "Automatic Update" box checked in the launcher settings.
