Guess I'd best start off by apologising for creating a thread about animated hair (I can hear the groans already).
Everybody knows that this is Golden Girls number 1 wish and it has caused me to take a closer look at the animated hair we have in game already - Ghost Widow.
Ghost Widows animated hair, put simply, looks like a cape attached to the back of her head. It looks ok from certain angles but imo it isnt particularly impressive and I doubt I would want a 'head cape' on any of my characters.
How easy would it be to implement 'head capes' for characters?
Would you use it or would you stick to the current hairstyles? (most of which wouldn't be compatible with head capes from the look of them).
As a footnote I sometimes play LOTRO if I fancy a change of pace from CoH/V. They have animated faces in LOTRO and that's something I'd love to see in our game. They really add a lot of character to your toons and the emotes that you can get with animated faces could be really cool. Would this be possible or would it require a new game engine?
So for me:
animated head capes: No
animated faces: hell yeah
Anyway, apologies for the animated hair thread but at least it might give the other threads a breather -
The only advantage to playing a Scrapper over a Brute is that you can chat to your mates without worrying about your Fury dropping.

Finally got one of my oldest toons, my fire/thermal corruptor (Fallen Celestial) from 40 to 50. Dinged 5-0 on the ITF with 6 determined heroes - Thanks again to you all for showing real grit and sticking it out, even though we got pounded again and again by Big Rom.
Made a new Dom, Deliriare, very late saturday night and managed to get her from 0-24 in one days play teaming with friends and pugs.
Thanks to anyone I teamed with over the weekend it was lots of fun -

The taunt effect is the same, regardless of wether it comes from an aura, Punchvoke, or the Taunt power.

I have a quick question then. Why does Willpower's Taunt Aura seem noticably worse than the other auras at holding onto aggro? -
I'm guessing the news didn't make it to Hyboria

Welcome back.
It wont be easy to play a SS/SR. The rage crash will hurt. EA and SR are hurt most by the -20% defense. SR is endurance heavy and you also lose a chunk of endurance when rage drops. If you get hasten as well thats another hit on your endurance when it crashes. Have them both crash at the same time midfight and you're in real trouble.
SS/WP are the farming Brute of choice in the US right now and seems to be a very powerful combo.
SS is such a strong set anyway it can be played with a defense secondary as long as you remain aware for the crashes and of course having some kind of endurance management power helps, which gives EA the advantage over SR for pairing with SS as it has 3 powers which help with your stamina. -
Good to see you back Ravenswing. Hope you enjoy the changes that have been made to the game since you left.
-
Footstomp is pretty uber to be honest. I dont play US side but from reading the US boards it seems that they are awash with SS/WP Brutes as they are the farmers choice right now.
I play SS paired with EA (arguably the worst possible combo) and Footstomp is the power that changes my toon from being an underperforming single target Brute into an AoE monster. You can get the recharge down incredibly low, it does excellent damage (only KO Blow does more and that;s single target) and it has KD. Of course if it was to be nerfed I think my main toon would be severly crippled because of it (hey maybe they would buff EA at the same time, i can dream right?). So, yeah it's an incredible power but at the same time is the defining power of the set (maybe along with rage). It would be to Super Strenghth like nerfing PSW or Fulcrum Shift would be to Psi Doms or Kins. -
Thanks for the update Canine. Looks like there's some catching up to do.
Out of interest how many teams did you have last night? -
Looks like there wont be any icy fun for me tonight
First day back at work after a week off and i'm going to be stuck here ages.
Have fun and let me know what lvl you get to so I can catch up. -
Just wanted to say that you do still suffer -20% defence but only when Rage crashes. You can still attack now during the crash(albeit with tiny damage) which is what was changed.
If somebody told me not to use Rage, and I play an EA Brute, I would tell them where to go (politely of course). I know my toon and it is down to me to 'manage' my crashes. It irks me when I hear people telling others not to use powers. I was in a team last week where a Brute was telling our Dom to stop using that *expletive* power, referring to Wormhole, as it was interfering with his Whirling Hands. Seemed to take it well though when we explained the benefits of Wormhole.
Oh and on topic, I added my first ever player to Global Ignore a fortnight ago and I've been playing almost 3 years. So, in my experience abusive players are few and far between. Maybe it's because of this that they really stand out when you do come across one? -
I would argue that Necro is the best solo MM primary. Anyone want to?

and perhaps you have to forget 1 vs 1 rox PvP, at this moment you will discover that there is another PvP world :
welcome to the funny and balanced cox team PvP

Welcome to the even funnier world of an emty pvp zone, where your lucky to find a 1v1, let alone a team.

But surely reducing the effectiveness of an overpowered set will encourage those who don't have the set to PvP a bit more?
If you have a set that's starting to dominate PvP, then while that will encourage some more hardcore types to work hard on finding a way to counter it, it'll also discourage the more casual PvPers who'll think it's unbeatable.
It might seem like fun to own a zone and chase off almost everyone else, but after a while, all you're left with is an empty zone, and the zones are the most important way of attracting new PvPers.

I quote. Melee. Lol.
I mean, if the devs themselves are saying things like this, what more do I need to say? -
I still haven't done the States TF so count me in. I can bring my Archery/Energy Blaster (lvl 50) or an MA/Regen Scrapper (also 50) but I think the Blaster will be a lot more useful.
-
I was promised chaos!! I want my chaos dammit.
Just kidding, I did actually find it very funny. Lass would do her best to herd up a mob, the slow powers would hit them a little too early and then they would run at about 1 mph towards Lass' herd spot. Lass would then run around like a loon trying to get them all together. Funny stuff! -

our one tank (sorry can't remember his name, it was Bas.... something or other) herding them into a small cone for us to snow storm the whole lot.
[/ QUOTE ]
That would be Echo's Tank - Belligerant Lass. That was some of the sloooooooowest herding i've ever seen
Good night all round. Not as much chaos as I would have liked (where was all the KB??). Going to pick up Torrent soon and see how much trouble I can cause with my defender. -
Newbie question time. What is that nifty bind that allows you to chat in our global channel so that it shows your global name followed by character name?

Getting home a day early now so i'll have some time to catch up with you all. Looking forward to some more icy fun -

I've done some digging and the americans are saying to perm mindlink you need 120% recharge - for example 5 LotG,hasten and MT.

Are we still talking Widow's here?
That would be one way to do it, but its probably the most expensive way.
Def/Rech Set IOs do work. Try it for yourself. They are incredibly cheap because they are not usually very useful. I have slotted 5 of them and have hasten and MT. Perma mind link before my widow even reached lvl 30.
Of course, feel free to shell out about 500 mil on the Lotg method. -
Sorry that explains it. I see so much talk of expensive global recharge builds to achieve perma-mind link that i'd just assumed it was that.
It does seem weird that ML wont take recharge enhancements but does take def/rech. I dont think it's intended though and wouldn't be suprised if it's changed. -
The TF is still bugged as far as i'm aware and will allow lvl 35+ to join as long as they have a 46+ mentor.
-
Did anybody read my post?
I have perma mind link at lvl 27 - it cost less than a slotting a power with SOs. Not sure if you should be able to do this but it works. -

Sure, come along next week! If you want to earn a few lvls in preparation for Monday (say lvl 6-8), that would be awesome too.

Gengice Khan - The mad mongul warlord who ironically got his powers after slipping through some thin ice. Thawed out 800 years later he's ready to wreck icy havoc on Paragon City.
Dammit I play red side too much. -
I'm guessing that they wanted to make it difficult to achieve reaching perma mind link (just like hasten and domination).
I do know some players who were trying to get a high gloabl recharge from IO sets to achieve this but...
The really silly thing, and something i'm guessing isnt commonly known, is that it takes Def/Rech IO's. Just slot one of these from each set and you have perma mind link. Def/Rech IOs also seem to be the cheapest of all the defense set IOs. You can get perma mind link for around 50k. Happy days. -
Thanks for posting Echo's speech Canine. It was a very entertaining read and made me laugh imagining it more than a few times!
Drizzle their Nizzle. Honestly.
