Sonic offers some mitigation as well with it's cone sleep and a very nice stun. The -res would be nice for upping your damage even more. I haven't tried it but I should imagine a sonic/kin would work well.

That's a weird combo if you want to PvP - Nrg/Fire would suit much better.

I try to PvP with my EA Brute and it really is tough. Being defense based you're going to get hit loads, especially in high end pvp with all the +tohitt going around. Still, that said, I do enjoy the challenge of PvPing with my EA.

I'd avoid PPPs like the plague, maybe get the webnade, but other than that I'd personally just fill out your build with extra powers from your primary/secondary/pools.

FYI I have every single power from my secondary. Most people say that the passives aren't worth getting but I respecced them in because there are some decent IOs in the resist sets available - and I think it's better to have some resistance than none.

Anyway, I'm at work atm so can't really help with a build. But as I said earlier, if you want to PvP seriously I'd pick different sets (unless you like the challenge that is )

I'd seriously consider trying to fit Conserve Power in there at some point too, for a specific reason. With Conserve Power and End Drain you can (with practice) overcome the crash from Overload. Once you see the Overload icon blinking you can hit CP - then just as your end bar starts to drop (this bit require perfect timing), hit End Drain and you will be fighting at full steam again straight away. If you don't take CP you will be forced to run and hide and do nothing for the 10 seconds you cant regain end for, as well as toggle up all your shields - this will lead to a lot of unnecessary deaths.

It does mean that an EA Brute should be able to hit the cap with Overload + Frostwork though, which is still great.

Well you learn something new everyday; I had no idea about that cap. It's easy enough for me to test (and I'll probably check it out tonight for my own interest), have a /cold corruptor and brutes with and without HP boosts.

Be good if somebody does know the figure, I'm still trying to push for even more +HP.

When you do include Frostwork and Overload into the equation you end up with 3500+ hp at level 50. Very, very nice - I thought I'd mention it as you are looking at EA paired with Cold after all. I also have the passive resists because they can take some decent set IOs and when you factor in possible set bonuses you can end up with very high defense, good resists and the largest HP bar of any Brute out there. A well built EA Brute is a force to be reckoned with, especially when paired with a /Cold.

Edit - Oh and I don't think you get +76% HP from Frostwork. Dred Tomax lists it as +471 HP at lvl 50. That's what I based my 3500+ HP figure on anyway.

I think that Sitriels point (and correct me if I'm wrong) is that most of the time teams will be steamrolling through mobs so fast that a Doms AoE hold would only be ready once every 2 to 3 mobs - so you would need multiple Doms for the AoE hold to be a viable opener for every mob. But as you say, there's nothing wrong with starting with an AoE hold.

I had a great laugh. Only logged on to run a couple of solo missions and saw TG spamming Arena chat; didn't want to miss out on the fun so legged it to SC.

Large scale zonal pvp is by far my favourite (maybe cause i play a Brute and we struggle with other types of pvp) and it was nice to see so many people in there late night.

Agree with Max though, what's with all the jumping about heroes? You end up looking like a bunch of demented Gummi Bears

Brutes are a very versatile AT and I don't think you should team with a Brute and automatically expect them to be able to tank. And I don't think that just looking at the sets chosen can be an indicator as to whether the Brute can Tank.

Take two of my Brutes - SS/EA and Fire/Fire. From face value you would probably say that the Fire/Fire would be the better tank of the two; you would be wrong. I've build my Fire/Fire as a weird kind of single target fire scrapper (mostly for solo play admittedly) with only one AoE, no taunt and no blazing aura. My SS/EA gets his aggro from a nicely slotted taunt and of course Footstomp. I can easily tank for teams of around 4 players without outside buffs (nor having to use Overload). Bigger teams usually bring extra buffs and I find that I cope fine even if I do have to rely on Overload more if I really want to fill the role of a Tank. Anyway, the main reason I take Taunt is because generating Fury in a large team just using an attack chain can be a very difficult thing at times, it’s much easy just to try and grab the aggro.

My gf, for example, plays her EM/EA brute more like a Stalker. Sneaking around with Energy Cloak on taking down the tougher targets with her massive single target damage. Nothing wrong with that play style, performs a perfectly satisfactory role in a team, but it’s probably not what you would expect from a Brute.

I guess my point is that you shouldn't try to pigeon hole Brutes. You may get a pseudo tank, scrapper, stalker or just plain Brute. I guess the best thing to do is ask.

Erm, the second number I describe can also be a billion, it is a British billion. A billion can mean a different amount in different parts of the world, as this is a US game I assumed it would be a US billion (1,000,000,000) which it is. Oh and you can check that here

Sign me up. Will bring my Brute, SS/EA (lvl 50). Did this on test and it took just over two hours iirc. It was also a bit too easy on heroic (AVs spawning at lvl 49).

What a laugh that was. I had a great time from the word go. Bloody Bay and Sirens seemed to be the most fun with some real epic battles raging. I missed the start of Warburg as I had to grab something to eat and by the time I joined there people were already talking about moving to RV.

I might be stating the obvious but don't forget that although MoG drops your health to 20% of your max health their are ways to make it better. I always use Dull Pain first as a nice boost to max hp. Then there are accolades to increase max hp and of course we now have inventions that also increase max hp. All these ways can make your MoG "experience" a bit better.

Both the Hollows and Perez Park are Hazard Zones. Villains do not get Hazard Zones unfortunately. They are basically a more dangerous version of a standard zone and have a level restriction to enter. You can completely ignore the Hollows and Perez if you want and head to Kings Row which is a standard zone with standard mob sizes.
