There are only a couple of missions I can think of where you absolutely must have a team to be able to complete them and they are both those kind that have multiple clickies that need to be clicked simultaneously. You can't possibly have both of these at once because they are of different level ranges. What level are you? What missions are you doing?
Until you answer those questions I can only say that you can also do Radio missions (you get a Radio from the local Detective in zones from Kings Row and on) until you get a Safeguard mission (this takes 3 Radio missions at level 5-20 and 5 thereafter). After you Save the Bank you will be introduced to a new contact in that zone. Then you can do his/her missions too.

Meanwhile "That other MMO?" Which one? In WoW you stay in a group till you finish the task at hand, be it an instance or Elite kill. FFXI you are attached at the hip with your group until you absolutely have to leave the computer, be it your house is on fire or your cath bag ruptures. EQ until recently you didn't leave a group for fear of being branded unreliable. Nope the 2 missions then bolt thing has always been stronger in CoH then anywhere else and it got worse with radio missions.

Not so. Try early level questing in those games you mentioned. Not the high level raid stuff but the ordinary quests people team for, kill one thing and then poof, team disbanded. That's the kind of attitude I'm talking about. That's what those games bring to this one with the influx of their players, a selfish attitude.
[/ QUOTE ] Isn't wanting people to stick around on your team for mission after mission you being selfish too? I mean, you want them to stick around for your fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not so. It doesn't really matter one way or the other to me. I can quite easily drop out of a team and solo with any of my toons any time. But when I lead a team, I will switch from doing one player's missions to another's to another's with in a single play session. When player 1 remains on the team after doing a couple of his missions and then player 2 does also, this shows these players are team oriented and that fun is more than completing their own missions. When player 3 drops the team without a word the moment we finish his missions, that shows me that he is a selfish player who was only hanging around long enough for us to do his missions. Selfish is the best word to describe this behavior.
It doesn't affect my fun at all. I can easily search for more team members while the rest of us attempt to continue sans his assistance. I can easily also say, " Okay, thanks all. It's been fun teaming but I've got to run. Have a better day!" or "Thanks for the team all! I'm gonna go solo for a bit before I crash. Sleep fast!"
It's about manners. It's polite to say when and why you're leaving if it is at all possible. Go ahead and be selfish about it if you want, just give people a heads up before leaving them in the lurch.

(do not use Spam for emails with no name as that can cause difficulties when the system tries to ignore someone who no longer exists)
[/ QUOTE ]
That's easily proven false. If you use the spam button on an "empty" name, you'll /ignore the global name that was attached to it. No difficulties attached to it. The empty names are not cases of the account getting banned, it's a case of the spammer deleting the character after sending out the spam.
[/ QUOTE ]
In some cases possibly, but the majority of "empty" labeled emails are actually "empty" because the user has already been banned.
If you do try to global ignore an account that no longer exists it can cause problems (I've been booted several times because of this in the past). That's why it is best to Delete "empties" and Spam "names". That's what the GMs told me at least.

Yes, CoX has a more casual nature, but in the past it has been easy to get together a good PUG and do missions for hours with the same players. People used to tend to stick to a good team for longer periods because they didn't just care about getting their own missions done. A lot of players from other games think like this though so you get those players now who, as soon as you finish their missions, leave without another word.

I may have missed it but has anyone asked whether or not Epics will be able to "go rogue"?
[/ QUOTE ]
OMG I hope so, I totally already have planned for my Warshade to go villain.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why wouldn't they be able to? That would be kinda stupid. Everyone can side switch except for Epics.
What I'd like to know is for the Arachnos if you switch sides then you would technically no longer be allined with that faction so why would you have their uniform? Can an Arachnos gone good change their first costume slot? Or are they going to play it off as "I'm just keeping it for old times sake" maybe have some kind of story arch where you're required to wear it as a hero because the Arachnos aren't aware you've left yet and they want you to go undercover and find out as much as you can before you turn in your resignation.
[/ QUOTE ]
Since SoAs get a super secret 6th costume slot already, why should they have to give up their Arachnos uniform?

[ QUOTE ]
OK so I was thinking, that while playing on Co-Op teams it's going to kinda hard to tell who's villain and who's hero once Going Rouge comes out.
As it stands the easy method is looking at the Archetype symbols but what if there was another way.
I was thinking changeing the coloring of said Archetype symbols so that there are 3 different variations of each symbol. The symbols we currently have would become Neutral or Rouge.
For heroes a blue tint would be added to the original coloring. This would turn Scrappers from yellow to green. Defenders on the other hand who are allready Blue would use white in place of blue makeing them a brighter color of blue.
For villains a red tint would be added to the original coloring. For a Stalker this could make that cross hairs red. For something like a Corrupter that's allready red black could be used insted to simply make it a darker red.
This would allow people to easily tell who their allys and enemys are.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um, if you're playing co-op why does it matter?

really craptacular. rethink the FOW thing because its its not even like gettig socks for christmas... its like getting some walnuts or an orange. Terrible reward idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you kidding? I can't wait to be able to remove the Fog of War from zones. What would you suggest instead, yet another free costume change?
-Bux
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. I am looking forward to it as well. Of course I know all of the maps (even most mission maps) by heart now. But that doesn't stop my OCD from kicking in and forcing me to clear every single map before I move on to the next with every single character I play.
Like all Vet Rewards (Boxing costume, Samurai costume, Free Tailor Sessions, Free Respecs, etc.), Reveal will be infinitely useful to some and utterly useless for others. That's how it should be.
-
[ QUOTE ]
To remove the disincentive that unachievable rewards can be to newcomers.
[/ QUOTE ]
See, that's the thing though. These rewards aren't unachievable. They can be achieved by anyone who stays subscribed to the game long enough. You just want a mechanism to allow you to catch up to others who have put in more time than you.
Sorry, but that's simply not going to happen. You don't NEED to catch up to us, you just WANT to. Learn patience. It is not an outdated concept.
-
This is typical behavior of players from "that other" MMO. They don't seem to be able to grasp the concept of hanging with the team to do other people's missions as well. It's called selfishness and unfortunately a lot of people nowadays suffer from its influence, especially those from MMOs that encourage it.
-
If you diligently use the Spam and Delete buttons as intended (do not use Spam for emails with no name as that can cause difficulties when the system tries to ignore someone who no longer exists) the pile of Spam emails will get smaller and smaller.
The longer you let these spammers go with their alts (not using the Spam button and simply Deleting them all instead) the more they will continue to bombard you with their spam.
I let characters go for weeks at a time without logging on and I never seem to have more than 4 or 5 spams at a time any more.
-
Um, yeah... I think no. They already fixed it so the upgrades only need to be applied once and affect all minions. Now you want it to be automatic and not cost any end? Masterminds already have little enough to do (They don't have to take attacks at all, they can depend on their pets for that, they can stack up all the Leadership buffs without gimping a build, they don't even require Stamina like many AT/Builds do and they don't even have to micro manage their pets thanks to Bodyguard mode). They don't need help in that arena.

While this would be nice to see, in the emantime you can always check out vidiotmaps for maps complete with known spawn locations of Giant Monsters.
-
Low level areas like Mercy or Port Oakes. They are few and far between though. If you're going for the badge the best thing to do is try to get in on a team doing the Mongoose mission to Clear the Arachnos base of Hellions. You may have to Malfactor for that.

It seems to me that Going Rogue would be the perfect chance to introduce a new Epic Archetype. What it will be is anyone's guess, but that neutral mercenary idea sounds pretty good.

Well, they did say that if the combos they added to Dual Blades worked out they might consider the same for other sets. Martial Arts would be a good set to do that with as would Katana and possibly Broadsword.
Fire Armor for heroes could use a face lift visually. The fire graphics heroside don't look anywhere close to as good as they do on villainside. And we know those graphics are possible because of Thermal on heroside. I just wonder what is taking so long.
I like Burn and we can use IOs to deal with the holes in our powersets. I do.

[ QUOTE ]
Yeah they had them planned but they've been reasonably tight-lipped about them recently.
Myself... I kind of don't think I'd want it, at least not as an "auto" power. Particularly: on teams. I like seeing where people have gone if I arrive late, or have to hit the hospital or whatever, and also just watching people on the map and how they path it out. I don't mind surprises on maps so much.
Plus hell - how could my one or two toons who have never, ever been to Galaxy City act if their maps suddenly cleared!?
"What, did I lose a couple days in a drunken stupor and stalk the streets of Galaxy?! WHYYYYY!"
[/ QUOTE ]
Never went to Galaxy? Ever? How did you read those plaques to get your Pupil badge to get your Atlas Medallion? How did you get the Galaxy porters for your SG base without collecting the exploration badges? If you explored the area at all, it's reasonable to assume you know your way around.
Also, I am sure it will be a click power. So, if you don't want to use it, you can just ignore it.
Edit: Also, not all Vet Powers are useful to everybody, nor are they meant to be. Some people like the Boxing costume. Others will never use it. Some people will make a Samurai the moment they get access to that costume set. Others could care less. Likewise the Veteran Reveal will be useful to some and useless to others. That's the way it should be.

Don't a few of the villian contacts introduce you straight to other contacts?
I could have sworn that Mr. Bocor introduces you to The Radio.
Oh well, I'll do newspapers to do contacts if it'll save me the hassle of those multi-zone-for no-reason hero arcs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, there are also contact chains in villains. However, the chain of contacts isn't ever more than 3 introductions long (Shelly Percy > Marshall Brass > Operative Wellman) before you have to move on to a new zone and start doing Paper missions to work up a new contact list, whereas with heroes the contact chain continues throughout their career from zone to zone.

[ QUOTE ]
Either way she is still the worst npc in the game to ever have as a hostage/ally. Its like she is intentionally given AI to get you killed. So far I am like 5 for 20 on this arc on getting her out alive. Someday they will fix her.
[/ QUOTE ]
She's actually quite useful if you can manage to take out the CoT around her (not just with her) first. After that the trick is to be patient. The ambushes following her release come at 88 second intervals. If you wait for them you can start moving when you see their "$target has Lady Jane!" or "Protect the $object!" text and you can leave the ambush behind (these ambushes go to the area where you were standing when they spawned, not after you directly) and move on to the next group you actually have to fight. If you move along slowly like this you can successfully complete the mission every time with any AT.
-
Okay, unlike the others I am going start with the assumption that you are serious and really need help. If this was intended as a joke just ignore my advice and continue chuckling.
First off, you are a Tank. Your main focus should be Defense, not Offense. You have to take the defensive powers to be the badass build you heard about. Secondly, you are a Tank. You want the enemies to see you. Get rid of that Concealment pool altogether and use the power choices to pick up some defenses instead. The most important power if you want to be a Granite Tank is Granite. If you don't have Granite, you are just a Stone Tank. That's not quite the same thing.
Trim down your attack chain too. You don't need that many offensive powers. Make sure to keep Whirling Axe though. AoEs are good for keeping aggro on you.
Also, for a travel power I suggest Teleport. It will take practice to get used to using it but it will be well worth it in the end.
Supplement Teleport by taking Fitness and getting Stamina. Three slots of End Mod IOs in Stamina and 2 slots of End Red in Teleport will help you continue to Teleport at will pretty much indefinitely.
The trick to using Teleport in combat: Use your cursor to target, instead of the reticle. Point your cursor at your enemies feet. If you want to pop up behind them aim a little higher at the ankles. If you want to pop up in front of them aim at the soles of their shoes.
Good luck!

For the scpeific bind you're looking for it would be...
/bind f12 "say Ambush coming!$$emote whistle"
Using "say' will allow the phrase to be seen in whatever channel you are currently in. Alternately you can use a specific channel bind like "local" or "team", but I prefer to use "say" personally.
