Ok, Helhound's comment was completely uncalled for, any powerset combo can do well in game in the right hands, and the right hands can be anyone with some free time and an open mind.
As for the Dark/Dark build, I would suggest you check out some of the guides available, check scrapper guide sections for them, even if they're a little old, they should set you in the right direction. The only tip I have from experience using either set is to be sure to slot for some +Recovery. This combo includes alot of mezzing capability with Cloak of Fear and Oppressive Gloom, however, I think the Stun outweighs the Fear with both of them on. A friend of mine sueggests taking Oppressive Gloom and Touch of Fear to avoid the overabundance of toggles and still give you a fear just in case something resists your stuns long enough. I can't stress the need for +Recovery and Endurance redux enhances however. I had a Dark/Dark I couldn't get past 22 I was so frustrated, but there was certainly potential.
More power to you if you stick with it, I like to see people standing out with power combos. I'll admit that Helhound has a point in that it's not the highest performing combo, but it can certainly be put to good use in it's own unique fashion. -
I have an Illusion/Sonic controller who's very fun. Not much else to say about it. The active Illusion lifestyle keeps me busy, and having my sonic toggles on means I dont need to keep clicking the set every 5 seconds for something.
-
I tank with my Crab. Softcap ranged, melee, and aoe defense, good resists and DPS, not to mention group buffs, and 21% defence for the team. I gave him provoke and a focused on the melee attacks and AoEs (Suppression and Venom Grenade). He's got survivability numbers of a shield brute/tank along with more team assitance, and a rockin self seal/+HP. Only dwnside is the relatively low HP, but I dont find it a bad thing with so much Defense.
-
This would e cool as a base item too. Like if you wanted to play cards you set a card table in your base and people can click on it to join the game and such. It would be an amazing game addition.
SO would NPCs for your base, but I'm not complaining. -
I have Sir Garanoth, a BS/Shield Scrapper of mine who was originally a Mage hunting knight in England in medival times who found an artifact that sent him through time for 10 years until it broke when he got to Paragon in 2009.
I also have Infinite Zen (ill/sonic Controller), a powerful psychic who can travel through time at will, but chooses not to unless he needs to. He's from the Future originally. -
Ok, I'm glad it's not just an issue on my end. Though, it's also good to see that this is a legitimate bug, hopefully we can get this fixed soon.
-
The Scirocco and Eradication procs arent that expensive on either side so I wouldnt worry about those, but the Numina and Regen Tissue will probably get a hit from someone trying to set up a redside build with available funds.
-
On my Shield/Strength tank I'm trying to set to my punches to the heroic (new) versions. Every time I purchase the change at the tailor I leave to fight and notice my punches are still the old animations. Am I the only one with this issue?

I'm working on this so far. I know the Run Speed rocs arent exactly neccesary, but I wanted some extra run speed and had the slot room. :P -
Supergroups are always the way to go for good RP, the D isnt a bad place to go, but not exactly a good place either. Feel free to add @Mazzo Grave to your global list and I'll be sure to answer anyquestions you may hve and help point you in the right direction for a RP SG.

Grav/Psi, Grav/Fire, Grav/Energy, Grav/Elec, Mind/Energy, Mind/Psi, Mind/Fire, Mind/Elec.
Any of those would fit a stage magician feel, not so much Elec assault, but the others would be nice. -
My Crab Spider is going Rogue, I think, whereas my Pistols/Dev(or Energy) Blaster with be starting in Praetoria to end up a Vigilante. I have a few toons that will be going Vigilante, and a Shield/SS Tank that will be going Villain in support of Tyrant. Nothing else I can think of off the top of my head.

Quote:I can't decide if your ability to seamlessly advertise for your SG in every post you make is a gift from god or an egyptian curse. :PWhat do you call the role player who snobs all RP in MMOs, but holds up Oblivion and Dragon Age as pinnacles of the hobby?
People who only like pizza, only when they are alone by themselves? People too afraid to eat pizza in public because they always get sauce on their chin?
Alpha Squad is just a simple cheese pizza: cheap, fast and with extra cheese. Some of us sprinkle a little chili pepper onto it, and serve it with an icy coke. -
So what happened to the people running this shindig? There hasn't been an official post on the main page since January!

I have a character in a similar predicament who would probably show up just to meet the group. Joining it is unlikely, as he's more of a classic hero than a mage, but still.

As happy as I am that we can walk, I have to say im unimpressed with the Male walk animation, especially when compared to the huge walk. It more forceful and manly, instead of what most of my Toons have now, which is a swaying-hips feminine walk, which makes my characters feel much less... like men. I almost wish we could have access to all 3 animations as seperate powers and pick one (like veteran award powers/Prestige Sprints). I'd love the Huge walk on my Tough men and the sway walk on my flimsy men, and the male walk on some of my girls because it's more tom-boyish then the sultry-vixen wiggle the ladies get, and there's gotta be a person as Male body who play their character as a rather large woman and would like a sultry hip wiggle.
Again, I'm happy I can walk, I'm just unimpressed with the the lack of versatility, though, I assume im not the only one with stupid Ideas, there's probably a wheelchair thread somewhere, after all. -
Essentially, this is true.
If you really want to play a Vampire/Lycanthrope, and be a character that is DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER SG MEMBERS, rather than Vampire A-Z and Werewolf 1-26, then just find a more open RP SG/VG and play as a Vampire/Lycanthope. This should allow your character a chance to stand out, rather then blending in and making no impact on their friends whatsoever. Find a group with a common cause your character stands for (And hatred of werewolves is a bad excuse), rather than a common trait, especially one so obvious. -
This is the single greatest costume I've ever seen.
Now try explaining to him when he's older that his costume was based entirely on a video game character you made. -
Energy Blast is a great way to get started. The knockback will keep you alive at least a bit longer then most blasters and will help you feel out the game early.
The only advice I can give to a new player, focus on your primary and secondary powerset for attacks. Don't take the pool power attacks, theyre a waste of power selections. at least for a blaster. Otherwise just play it by ear and you'll pick it all up as you go, and don't hesitate to ask people in or out of game for help or advice if you need it. -
I was hoping for a blueside group, but Either side could work!
I can see it now... Stevey Stones, masterful bassist and band pretty-boy, found a way to inspire his posse to keep fighting.... buy striking epic poses and flipping his golden locks (Thugs/Pain MM). -
I had an idea like this about a year ago, but with the release of Tim Schafer's new game 'BrĂ¼tal Legend', I figure now is as good a time as any to try this. I've always wanted to do a rock and roll cliche group, and this has defined an amazing concept I'd like to try. The group would obviously be lighthearted in nature, filled with outlandishly silly catch-phrases and character concepts, perhaps with a villain group to coincide. This is just an idea at this point, if anyone is interested feel free to throw some ideas at us. Keepin mind this is not a static team or anything like that, just a theme supergroup for fun. Like I said, if anyone is interested, let us know!

I have to agree on the less team-centric thing when it comes to stalkers, however, keep in mind that people rarely use stalkers abilities to their full potential when on teams. I remember a team I was on a few months back that used their stalker as an "early mob fix" person. He would take out Sappers, Illusionists or any troublesome mobs fast before they became a problem and it really turned the ide of battle. When it comes to teaming it really just depends on your playstyle and powersets. Elec Melee stalkers toss ridiculous AoEs all over the place, and I frequently take them on my teams, whereas my Claws/WP is more of a Scrapper than anything, great for spiking bosses and such, but not to good for anything else. Scrappers suffer a similar teaming issue, but lack the stealth utility. Both ATs make for good Melee DPSers, but survivability is the thing that really sets thm apart from the others. As far as buffing/Healing/support is concerned, a good scrapper/stalker, is one that doesntrequire their attention. If they can stay alive and DPS without need of constant heals/buffs/support then they're doing their job.
Try a support class if you like being active in a fight and good for teams. My Plant/Emp controller always has something to do, tossing around fortitude, mezzing groups, healing, never a dull moment. Or maybe a more Tanking-oriented character like a Tanker or a Brute (of the powersets that can actually tank well, somewhat). I've always found DPSing to be a bit boring, especially on my Kat/SR Scrapper. His Single-target nature makes him a good soloer and a sub-par team member.
What else do you have at 50? -
