The Knockback proc in combat jumping doesnt need to be there, and taking it out shold save some big money.
-
There was ALOT of room in this build. It's not in the best power order, but It's slotted for defense and is at/beyond the softcap with combat jumping off. I think I went a little overboard, but it should do fine. There's plenty of power leway and room for what you want in there, and there's also a display of different ways to slot attacks. Once you hit the softcap for all 3 positions you can slot with +hp and +recovery in mind.
Again, I think I went a little overboard, but here it is.

It's not fixed yet, while shield powers are active only the old animations play (checked last night).
-
I've seen more and more brutes with Invulnerability nowadays, and while it's probably just a coincidence, how does it perform? On paper/mids it seems alright, but not fantastic, considering Energy/Neg and Fire/Cold defense/resists aren't spectacular at all. Even packed with IOs it seems like it would just underperform in general. However, on paper and in-game are 2 completely different animals, so, what's the consensus?
-
Well, not so much Eagles Claw, you jump over the top of the screen.
-
I just double checked this, with my shield powers active I can only use the old animations, but when my shield powers are off they use the new ones. Any word on this?
-
I signed up. Got a Kin/Psy defender, but I would prefer taking my Scrap if it's possible, as my Defender racks up Aggro more than he should and his IO build isn't anywhere near done. My Scrap needs some work too, but he can at least stay alive. WHichever you need more I can bring.
-
Judging by the average grammer quality per post in this thread, I should never PvP again.
-
-
I think there would be a big enough PvP base here to get a PvP channel/Stickied Event thread/Fight Night started, and while I'm not a huge fan of PvP, I wouldn't be adverse to rolling a character for it just to help support the community.
-
Back before i13 I used to run around Sirens Call, Warburg and RV stomping with my Energy/Energy blaster. I've tried to get back into PvP with new characters since then, but I just don't have the drive to level any more characters. I just want to see which of my 50's have the most PvP potential so I can set up a seperate build for them.
Here's what I have at or near 50.
Energy/Energy Blaster
Elec/Elec Brute
Crab Spider (he's slotted for tanking, and for concept reasons cannot have a bane build)
Katana/Reflexes Scrapper
Kinetics/Psychic Defender
Plant/Empathy Controller
Arch/Energy Blaster
Mercs/Traps Mastermind
If none of these have PvP potential I'll ditch it all together and stick to PvE, im just plain sick of constant leveling and farming. -
Quote:Free transfer your PvP toons to Freedm and close your chat window.I guess I'm deleting some characters then. There is nothing that will convince me to play on Freedom.
We have more PvP here the the lower-pop servers, certainly, but there's nt a whole lot overall. This is probaby the 2nd best choice if you're not going to freedom. There's plenty of arena 1v1's that still go down, and enough people interested in PvP that starting an Arena or Zone PvP night isnt entirely out of the question. While it wont be as fabulous as it used to be, it's better than nothing I suppose.
<Looks at his Kat/SR Scrap....>
i13 Really did ruin everything for PvP. It isn't out of the question to start a global channel for ithere either, at least it would be easier to find PvP potential that way...
Wait...
Was that just a good idea?! :O -

On my ITFs I Prefer to have a stalker than a Scrapper. Elec Melee or Spines Stalkers might be my favorites, but any stalker can really help, especially in boss fights. The spike damage followed by an immediate taunt from me is always nice, meaning I dont have to worry as much about the constant DPS of a Brute or Scrapper threatening to take away my aggro. They might not have as big of a fan base when GR comes out, but defenders are in the same box with that one. There will always be a place for stalkers and defenders.
-
Quote:This.Scrapper is the obvious choice. Try not to pick one of the fast-action primary sets, but rather something that focuses on big hitters. Fiery Melee feels that way to me, as does Broadsword. Super Strength isn't bad either, but won't get any area effect abilities until level 32, while Broadsword and Fiery Melee get them much earlier. For the secondary, Willpower is a good choice, since it's a "set it and forget it" power set that is all toggles and passives and does not use up any actions on just staying alive.
All IMHO.
Blaster isnt a bad choice either, neither is a brute. I'd say stay away from Masterminds, and Controllers, as they can get a bit complex. Straightforward Defenders/Corruptors could work (Force Field/Sonic are good starts, Trick Arrow is odd, but very thematic and could be good for new players), as could a dominator (almost any set combo for a Dominator could be fairly easy to get into). -
100% Agree. Survivabilty needs some attention when Electric Armor is involved.
-
I kill things fast enough on my crab that Softcap defense is more than enough to keep me alive. While the resists my crab has are fantastic, I almost never get hit to begin with either way. My Crab has better than shield defense survivability across the board and whatever does hit me generally gets healed back before I get hit again.
-
Crabs are good at soloing, but it takes alot of inf to get a build together that could solo. My TanCrab can solo farm the wall in Cimerora and I solo'd an EB Captain Mako and an AV Back Alley, but he's not exactly good for soloing when compared to his teaming ability.
A Fort on the other hand is as Take_It_Easy said, very safe. Softcapped defense, solid single target DPS (Psy and Toxic damage being the least resisted damage types makes it that much tastier as well) and Mez capability and plenty of wiggle room in your build to choose what you'd want. Not to mention teams will appreciate the Defense buffs you can give as well as your overall effectiveness, especially against AVs. Crabs only have 1 thing over Forts, Serum. However, Aid Self can fill most of the hole serum fills, but Forts can make up for it fairly well with their Mez potential.
Keep in mind that leveling is going to be irritating at first, but once you hit around the mid 20's you'll start to feel how whichever class you chose will play. -
I'm just going to stress that MA for stalkers is Severely sub par overall. Go for it if you want, but I did suggest Claws and Dark Melee for a reason: They're just plain better than MA for stalkers right now.
-
Why pick SR when you can have Ninjitsu? It's SR with a self heal and cool tools to help you.

Quote:Quiz question #1:
In the following group, who would you attack first?
a) Tsoo Sorcerer (healer, hurricane, foe hold)
b) Tsoo Green Ink Man (melee stun)
c) Tsoo Yellow Ink Man (ranged sleep)
I asked a number of SG mates this question, and I was fairly surprised at their answers. Assume you're a level 23 blaster, and the minions are orange con, which means you can probably take out one of the minions outright with 1 aim + build up blast but would take 2 shots to take out the Sorcerer. Who would you attack first and why?
Quiz question #2:
In the following group, who would you attack first and why?
a) Vahzilok Mortificator (ranged -slow, revive fallen cadavers, hard hitting melee attack)
b) Vahzilok Embalmed Cadaver (explodes, dumb AI)
c) Vahzilok Murk Eidolon (downgraded from a boss to a Lt, Midnight Grasp, Opressive Gloom)
Assume you're a level 11 blaster, and have build up but not aim. The Lts con yellow while the Embalmed cons white.
1: Boost Range, Aim, Build Up, Power Boost, Rain of Arrows, Fistful of Arrows, Explosive Arrow.
2: See 1.
Im just kidding of course. At level 11 though lets say im on my Energy/Energy
1: Open with Hasten followed with Energy Torrent, run to the Sorceror and pop Bone Smasher, followed by a swift Power Thrust if he isnt dead already. Turn around, use Build Up and Aim and Another Energy Torrent, then attack the one who doesnt get knocked down first and clean up the other.
2. Doing my best to avoid the Eidelon, I would smack the Whole group with Energy Torrent, then single target the Mort until he dies, all the while strafing the group, avoiding melee range with the Cadaver and Eidelon. Once Morty is down, Cadaver oes next, followed by a string of single targets on the Eidelon, doing my best to avoid melee range as best as possible. -
Quote:You did read that I said that, I edited afterward when I changed my mind. For some reason I thought I read you settled on nin as your secondary. Defense can still be viable if you spend enough inf on your build. Nin being the best defense choice since it has a self heal. Regen is probably the best for fite klub style duels. WP is great for zone and team pvp but I doubt it would fair well in da fite klub.
Your best bet would be to PM sentry4 on this topic. -
Isn't defense kinda useless for PvP now though? This is what confuses me the most, honestly.
-
I've been trying to settle on Powersets for a Stalker, and I finally settled on that I'd /like/ to do some PvP, specifically 1v1 Arenas with some scattered zone PvP just for fun. I'm not sure about powersets though. I remember the days of Energy/Nin but I never rolled one or even PvPed back then. I'm open to any primary/secondary except Spines or Dark Armor (It just doesnt fit the character concept). I left the concept open to allow more room in the powerset department. Af anyone has any primary suggestions post them here.
