Good secondary for MA

heading back redside, I am making a MA stalker. But I am stumped on the secondary.
The concept is a were leopard so...
I am between:
Willpower
Super Reflexes
Regen

I know how most of them behave for Brutes and Scrappers, but in a stalker?
What advantages does each have and which is not even worth considering?

Regen is very squishy for Stalkers because they have a much lower HP cap than Scrappers.

Willpower is decent for Stalkers.

SR is very good for Stalkers.

I'd go for SR, it fits the agile leopard feel better. Besides, leopards don't heal in bursts.

Those are the things that SR gives you that Ninjitsu does not.

The "cool tools" in Ninjitsu are all utterly skippable. The heal is great, but can be mostly useless if you get your Def high enough.

Regen is great for stalkers, despite the lower HP cap. You have one very quick recharging heal, one not as quickly recharging massive heal, crazy regen power, and MoG is a stalker's best friend. Combine that with Shadow Meld and you are extremely hard to kill.

WP is solid all around and allows you to self cap your HP easily without IO's or pushing for a lot of accolades. It also gives exotic resistances to things like confuse and repel.

SR is decent for stalkers, but requires a bit more investment to be as good as some other secondaries are out of the box. It also requires almost every power from the set to be used with one another in order to work properly. This can make builds rather tight.

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

I can't really agree with this assessment. SR is a strong secondary for stalkers, Regen is not.

Having run multiples of each to 50, I'd have to put Regen as one of the strongest stalker secondaries out there. Between the MoG change and the inclusion of Shadow Meld in the Soul Mastery pool, it synergizes amazingly well with great effect. My SR stalkers (before IO's) simply can't handle what my regens could without outside assisstance. With the inclusion of IO's, my regens simply will not die while my SR will after a considerable length of time.

I have also run multiple stalkers to 50 and my conclusion is exactly the opposite. Regen is very squishy. You're basically a blaster with a few heals. No way for Regen to last the length of Elude against many enemies.

There was a whole thread about this some months ago where we showed mathematically that Regen is actually nowhere near the Defense based sets in terms of raw survivability.

What is the primary of your Regen stalker? That can make a huge difference.

Basically, there are Stalkers that take very little damage from hits (Electric), stalkers that don't get hit much (SR), and stalkers with a ton of hit points who heal back fast (Regen). Except the hit point cap is so low that Regen stalkers essentially have no higher hit points than any other kind, leaving them as an armor set with no armor.

As has been discussed at length among the Buffing ATs: Heals are the worst method of preserving hit points, Defense is the best.

Let's see, stalkers I've run to 50 with both SR and Regen as a secondary

DM, EM, NB, MA. Until IO's are introduced, the SR's haven't been able to handle as much as my SO'd Regens. However, I'd like to see your numbers if they indicate otherwise.

You have 8 lvl 50 stalkers, one of SR and Regen of EACH of those primaries? Sounds kinda repetitive.

The SR stalker is going to Elude 95% of all attacks for 3 minutes. Can a Regen stalker avoid and heal 95% of all damage for 3 minutes?

Absolutely. I have even more /Nin's and a few WP. Couldn't get far enough on a DA and my EA's are all but retired. Stalkers ARE my favorite AT for a reason.

As for avoiding/healing all damage for 3 minutes, it's quite possible to do so on a regen. Between Recon being up every 30 seconds (outside of Hasten, of course), DP as a back up heal every 180, MoG every 120, and IH by itself for half of that alone, it's VERY easy to last 3 minutes against even the hardest targets and groups. And that is with no crash.

Specifically against some of the harder 40+ EBs I had a much easier time in Elude than I did with my Regen.
